1520 - Headphones no longer work following Denim U...

The headphone jack has stopped working since I updated my Lumia 1520 to Denim.  Music / phone call comes out speakers instead of headphones.
Also, the Music Player feature has major issues since the Denim update.   Music playing stops about every 10 seconds.  It acts as if I've paused the player.  I can un-pause it but it then automatically pauses again after a few seconds.  This behavior is the same in both the XBox Music and MixRadio apps.
All the above features work fine on Bluetooth, but do not work on the headphone jack.
All the above features worked fine prior on the headphone jack priot to Denim.
I think it's a software / headphone-jack driver issue with Denim.
I have power-cycled the phone.  Did not help.
Please advise.

Hi, HowardHoffman, Welcome to Microsoft Mobile Community! What earphone are you using on the phone? Is the behavior the same if you use a different Lumia compatible headsets? About your other concern, does it happen to all the songs that you have on the phone or even with online streaming? Power-cycled meaning turning the phone off and on, am I right? Have you also tried resetting the phone by holding down the power button+volume down button at the same time and see if there are any changes? We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Hi, Slizzo. Are you referring the Windows Phone Recovery Tool? Can you also confirm that you already tried using another Lumia compatible headsets?  Are all the phones system apps up to date? We'll be waiting for your reply.

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • Why do regular stereo mini jack headphones no longer work in macbook pro

I have a macbook pro (2009) v10.9.5, 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo. Lately normal non apple stereo mini jack headphones no longer work. The jack doesn't cut the speaker sound as normal. It wasn't like this until comparatively recently. Apple iphone headphones do work.. is this a software or hardware problem?

That is odd.  Try a NVRAM reset:

  • Headphones no longer work after ios8 update to Iphone 5

My plug in head phones no longer work after updating to IOS8.  I thought it was the head phones and bought new ones - they don't work either.  I updated my iPad and both head phones work.  Phone is IPhone 5 - not due for an upgrade until December.  Any suggestions?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Headphones no longer work

I loaded Safari 5.0 about 3 monhts ago and shortly thereafter discovered that my headphones do not work. No matter what I do, they don't show up as an option under "Output" in System Preferences. Coincidence with going to 5.0? Anyone have a solution?
    Many thanks in advance,
    --Tom

I loaded Safari 5.0 about 3 monhts ago
That was clever of you as it was only released a week ago! Also, you cannot run it, or even version 4, using 10.5.3, as 10.5.8 is the minimum requirement.
No way can Safari affect your audio settings for your headphones.
    Try a bit of maintenance:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • IPhone 4s headphones no longer working properly

I purchased my iPhone 4s when it came out and have been using the headphones all this time. I have noticed however, in the past few months, that the audio output has changed.. In order for me to hear the music properly, I have to angle the headphones in a special way (as in it is barely audible in the usual angle).. Has this happened to anyone else? and is this covered under the extended warranty?
    Thanks!!

I was having an issue where my phone was not vibrating for incoming calls even though it was set to vibrate in silent mode. It was still vibrating for texts. I finally figured out the solution that worked for me:
Settings > Notifications Center > Phone (Badges, Alerts) > Alert Sound > Vibration; make sure it is set to anything but 'NONE' to receive vibration. Same works for texts just follow the same steps as above except select Messages instead of Phone so its:
Settings > Notifications Center > Messages > Alert Sound > Vibration set to anything but NONE

  • Windows messenger 8.01 no longer works following recent mountain lion update

Windows messenger v8.01 no longer lets you sign in since a recent mountain lion update.  Anyone have a fix, an alternative or a thorught?  I did try uninstalling and reinstalling as well as looking for updates or threads on this.

    Hi there.
Sorry about my late reply but my issue was solved unexpectedly... I plugged in again the headphones and I forgot to plug them out for 20-30 min... Then when I unplugged them the problem was solved!!!! Therefor I didn't have the chance to try your solution but I'll keep it in mind for next time.
(However I was also experiencing some other issues as well after the upgrade so I erased everything and installed from scratch. Hope it never happens again.)

  • Different Volumes on Speak and Headphones no longer works-

Correct me if I am wrong, but this is how I remember my iMac and my MBP behaving:
Volume is on one bar. If you plug in your headphones, the volume changes to what your last settings were for your headphones (let's say five bars). When you unplug your headphones, the volume goes back to the original one bar.
But today I noticed that it hasn't been working the same way: when I unplug my headphones the volume for the speakers remains what it was for the headphones.
Since this is happening on both my computers, I think it has something to do with software.
The only thing I have installed in relation to sound is AirFoil, AirFoil Speakers, and the Soundflower extra for it. I've tried removing both (using AppCleaner) applications, as well as Soundflower from within AirFoil, but the problem persists. Any idea on what else it could be, or how to fix it?
I've e-mailed Rouge Amoeba, but I'm not sure if this is a problem with AirFoil, or if they'll be able to help.
    Thanks,

Hmm, okay, so this is what I've done, and this is what has happened:
I restored my MBP to January 1st, when I hadn't installed AirFoil, but the problem was still there.
Since the problem is affecting all users, including Guest Users, I thought that it might be a system file. So I reformatted by computer, and used Migration Assistant to bring everything back. The problem was gone! Everything worked as it should. And this is with AirFoil and SoundFlower installed.
But then I updated my computer, including a combo update to 10.6.2; all of a sudden, the problem is back.
    = (
This makes me think the problem is in OS X. Which means by currently reformatting iMac is going to waste a few hours of my life for no reason.
One advantage, though, is that my most recent back-up for it does not include AirFoil or SoundFlower. So I'll update the computer, and if the problem returns, it should be OS X, no?
Can anyone with 10.6.2 check if they also have this problem? It'd be awesome if someone has 10.6 and 10.6.1 on a bootable drive they can test, as well.
Any idea how we report this to Apple if it is OS X?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Headphones no longer working with iPad (first gen)

The audio on my iPad plays fine using the iPad's internal speakers or even via Airplay, but will not play through headphones any more (I've tried multiple pairs of headphones).  Before I go through the time and effort of having it serviced, is there some setting that could have been errantly changed that could account for this problem?
    TIA

There is a switch IN the connector which Can get stuck removing and insetting headset many times often get it unstick

  • IPhone 4s iOS 8? One side of the headphones no longer work

Sometime over the last few weeks, I noticed one side of my headphones was dramatically quieter than the other on my iPhone 4S. I cannot figure out how to make each side play at the same volume again. I have not made any changes, but I feel it might have coincided with one of the iOS 8 (8.1, 8.1.1) installs. Here is what I have tested:
It is not the headphones because:
I have tested other sets of headphones and they have the same problem
It is not the jack because:
I plugged in my aux jack cord to connect my phone through the jack to my car. Using the cord in my car did not produce the same audio imbalance. Both sides were of equal volume
It is not the L/R slider because:
I checked the Settings>General>Accessibility slider and it is right in the middle of the L/R
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thank You in advance

I have been using these headphones for years with no issue. Similarly, when I tried other headphones, no matter the depth of the plug and the ring resistance, the problem persists.

  • After upgrading to Lion, headphones no longer work.

Plugging headphones in does not dsconnect speakers.

    you dont tell what headphones.

  • IPod headphones no longer working

I have an 8 GB, 2nd generation iPod nano, which I purchased around three years ago. Around early April last year, the headphones that came with the nano crapped out. Sound only came from the right earpiece. Assuming any kind of warranty that came with them would have been expired, I bought a new pair of Apple headphones. The same thing happened to them today. Once again, sound only comes from the right earpiece. On the small manual that came with the headphones, there is mention of a one year warranty. Since the earphones aren't one year old yet, how do I make use of this warranty that came with them? Do I mail them somewhere or do I have to take them into an Apple Retailer store? After hunting around the website, I wasn't able to find anything really about this topic.
    Thanks alot,
    Bryan

i had the same problem. you should be able to take them to an apple store and they will give you a new pair.

  • Why Skype no longer works following IPhone OS update?

On Tallinn Skype IT just crashes out To THE Home screen after updating THE iPhone os. any help apprecieer.

According to Skype, you'll need to upgrade your version of Skype.
You should be able to do this by tapping App Store, Updates, Update All. If that doesn't work, take a look at Apple's application troubleshooting assistant.

  • Headphone Jack No Longer Working

About 2 weeks ago, my iPhone's headphone jack completely stopped working. I started to notice it a month ago (after installing the latest iOS builds, but I dont necessarily have any reason to believe that it's a software issue) when it wouldn't play music in the headphones when I'd plug them in but after trying a few more times it would finally work again. Obviously now it doesn't work at all.
I've read the few threads around the Internet on this issue and most people just had lint in the jack that had to be cleaned out. Mine did not but I tried cleaning it anyway with a q-tip and also light oiled it with electronic lube (with a q-tip, being mindful of the sensor at the base of the jack).
Has anyone else been able to fix this type of problem?

SOLUTION: Headphones no longer work on iPad
I had the same problem: suddenly my headphones didn't workon my iPad. All the headphones (3 pairs) worked on my iPhone, so I knew the problem wasn’t with the headphones. The sound worked fine from the iPad speakers, so when I unplugged the headphones, the sound returned. I called AppleCare Support and tried everything they suggested, including restoring it to the factory settings. Nothing worked, and they authorized a replacement iPad.
The new iPad arrived, but it had the same problem, so I knew something had changed in the iPad's programming. I went online and found that many others were having the same problem, but no one offered a solution. However, someone mentioned that the problem first occurred after installing the latestOS (4.3.3), which is when my iPad’s problem occurred. Next, someone else wanted to know if there was a mute switch that needed to be turned off. This started me thinking...
To make a long story as short as possible, I played around with the controls on my old iPad and discovered the following: Apparently, the latest OS has added a safety feature to protect our eardrums (that’s nice, but it would be even nicer to have been notified of this change .. even the support technicians were unaware of it). Previously, when you listened to the audio through the iPad’s speakers, the sound was so low that you had to turn the volume up as high as possible to hear it. Then when you plugged in the headphones, the sound blasted your eardrums as you frantically lowered thevolume.
    (PROBLEM:)
Now, however, WHEN YOU PLUG IN THE HEADPHONES, THE IPAD AUTOMATICALLY MUTES THE SOUND. When you unplug the headphones, the sound is automatically restored through the speakers, giving you the false impression that there is something wrong with the headphones or the headphone jack.
    (SOLUTION:)
So after plugging in the headphones, you have to use the volume button to bring the sound back up to the desired level. When you press the volume button, it will say “headphones” on the display to let you know that you are adjusting the sound for the headphones only. The speaker volume retains its previous setting (maximum volume).
So, the solution is quite simple… just turn up the volume after you attach the headphones.
    Cheers!
    Becky Bear
