1920 x 1080 60i project

Compressed it using "Make Quick Time Movie"
Selected DV NTSC 48 KHZ
Took that file into Compressor
Video setting:
DVD Best Quality for 120 minutes, MPEG-2 5.0 Mbps 2-pass
Audio Setting:
AAC 128Kbps
Both file sizes together was just over 4 gig.
The DVD would still not burn with a message I'm sure everybody knows, about the output source being too small.
So as of now I'm doing the exact same process, but I'm separating the FCP project into a 2 parter, I'll just have to make 2 DVDs for now.
Thanks for any other ideas.

Im working on another one now.  It's 1 hour 30 minutes
1280 x 720 this time.
I'm going to make a self contained movie using the current settings on the time line
Then drag that into compressor as you suggest.
Mpeg2 and Dolby audio in the past have always made the projects too big for both DVDSP and IDVD to handle as I said in my original post.  I always get a warning message about the project file being too large.
After I do this one, I'll report back.

  • Accidentally Shot 1920 x 1080, 60i

Shot some footage today using two DSLR cameras. One was incorrectly set to 1920 x 1080 60i and when I imported into FCP, the video is not smooth. tried exporting it and got the same result. The other video was shot 24fps. I brought a 60i clip into the project window and exported it using H.264 but no luck. Not sure what to do here or what I have have done wrong. I suspect you may need more information and I would be glad to give it to you on request. I am a bit of an amatuer (obviously) and I may need someone to walk me through it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi Ian,
Thanks for the reply. I agree that something odd is happening here. FYI when I run the files through quiktime, they also do not run smoothly. In other words, I imported the files through FCP and after the clips didn't ruyn smoothly, I went to the Event Folder/Original Media and tried to play the clips that way (through Quicktime) and I got the same issue. Does that tell you anything? When I play the clips on the camera they play fine. Is there perhaps an import setting error?
I tired reset speed but it did not change things. Also, there was no place to reset the speed to 24p. I assume the project is set to 60i since I assumed FCP sets the project to the first clip that is dropped into the project.
Does any of this make sense to you?
    Thanks

  • Converting XD CAM EX 1920 x 1080 60i  to XD CAM X 1920 x 1080 24 P

HI, Id recently buyed an XDCAM ex 3 and begin working with it. I am new in this format...
    I made a mistake. Begin recording a video in full HD, XD CAM X 1920 x 1080 24 P,
and another day continue recording, but by mistake change settings in video camera to XD CAM X 1920 x 1080 60i...
I noticed my mistake because when I began editing in FCP 7, the video runs smooth in time line,(XD CAM X 1920 x 1080 24 P,) but when download a clip in the timeline recorded 60i it seems that is not running smoothly. even If I render. Tried to export in fcp with the settings XD CAM X 1920 x 1080 24P, but it seems the problem persists...
    The time line settings are:
    frame size: 1920 x 1080 Aspect Ratio HDTV 1080i (16:9)
    Pixel aspect ratio: square
quicktime video settings: Apple Prores 422 HQ
    EDITING TIME BASE 23.98
    Any sugggestions??
    thanks!!
have no aja kona or any other device like that...

If you don't have the money to pay for a high quality hardware based standards conversion then you can use a slow (but still good quality) software conversion method ... try Apple's own Compressor application which is part of your Final Cut Studio suite
Or if you prefer to stay within FCP then you might want to have a look at Graeme Nattress's excellent Standards Conversion plugin set:
    http://www.nattress.com/Products/standardsconversion/standardsconversion.htm
By the way, if you go with the former then don't waste your time staying in the XDCAM codec, instead you'd be better targeting Apple ProRes 422 as your edit intermediate codec for the converted clips. Similarly, if you prefer to stay in FCP and need to to do a timeline based conversion using the Nattress plugins then you would likely do well to set your sequence format to Apple ProRes 422 rather than native XDCAM HD.

  • Ripping dvd and importing it into an hd 1080 60i project

So ive recieved a dvd and im trying to use handbrake to rip it and import it into my hd 1080 60i project. Ive tried doing either an avi or mpg4 files with different frame rates but still nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you're trying to import it into FCE, it needs to be DV/(HDV), not AVI or MPEG4. Try using MPEG Streamclip + the QT MPEG2 Playback Component. Handbrake isn't going to get you where you need to go.

  • Correct PPro CS3 Project Settings for Neoscene/Cineform 1080 60i .avi files?

I am looking for clarification on the correct Premiere CS3 project settings for AVCHD 1080 60i NTSC files converted with Neo Scene with the "maintain source frame format" option.
Should the PPro project settings for "Field" be upper or lower field first?
On a Cineform discussion board I was told all interlaced HD footage is upper field first.
However, I have found that a PPro project setting of upper field first results in much more sluggish playback than lower field first.
So seems there is additional processing needed with the upper field first project setting and this suggests to me that lower field first is the proper setting.
Any thoughts from NeoScene/Cineform users out there?
    Thanks!
The project settings I have been using are:
    Editing Mode: Desktop
    Timebase: 29.97
    Frame size: 1920 x 1080
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
    Fields: Lower Field First
    Audio: 48000

...is not so good - bad colours. In Microsoft DV Avi-DV Pal compression. D1/DV PAL Wide is pixelate. I have click the de-interlace so it is not because of that. I have no problem to use encore it the file i send is compressed in those settings i mention before. I have no problems in compressing the file with those settings at all, like i have when i want to transfor the video in avi uncompressed.
Oaaa...i am going crazy here. I have had so many problems with this and if i end up working this documentary and not beeing able to export it i go mad!...this if i do not go there before because of this problems...

  • How do you segment a long project and preserve HD 1920 x 1080 pixels at each step?

I'm shooting video with a Canon HF S10 in the maximum quality (1920 x 1080 i) mode.  The resulting files in AVCHD format are coming into the computer and into Elements 7 okay.  The desired  Project output is BluRay.  I want to maintain the full image quality (1920 x 1080) end-to-end (lesser quality is okay on the timeline if that all that is available).  My current project is about 65 minutes long--future ones could be two hours or more.  All the 100+ trimmed clips and transitions are on the timeline.  Saving the Project file seems to work, but re-opening the Project takes a long time and doesn't always work.  Rendering this long timeline ulitimately freezes/crashes.  When the Project was much shorter, the save and reload cyle worked okay.
Per Steve's book a work around is to break the project into pieces around 10 minutes long, render and save them to AVI files, reload and merge the AVI files into a new "Master" Project and then render the whole thing to BluRay(?).  Better yet he suggests outputing to a folder and burning the disc with other software.  But Elements does not output BluRay to a folder.  And when I experimented outputing with AVI segment files, quality dropped a lot suggesting that the 1920 x 1080 is not preserved in AVI format.
    It appears that:
AVI files are just the DV 720 x 480 image quality of mini DV tape
Output to a folder in BluRay image format is not available
Elements 7 does not support breaking an HD 1920 x 1080 timeline into segments for long projects
Any ideas will be appreciated.  Canon does supply a crude editing software package that is claimed to do simple cuts and transitions and produce a file that can be loaded back into the HF S10 memory for playback (distributing product on SD cards instead of BluRay is a novel possibility).  I'd prefer to use Elements or a similar software product that takes me start to finish without losing any pixels.
Finally, I have a backlog of several long projects using HDV tape as a source.  I want those to go to BluRay too, but not giving up any of the 1440 x 1080 pixels.  I think the same limitations above apply to HDV.
After waiting several years to get this end-to-end capability, it is disappointing to find it still seems to be out of reach (maybe is just hidden).
Sometime soon, I hope Steve will write an edition that deals exclusively with the end-to-end HD (1920 x 1080) work flow including best scaling of still images, storage of image files and output to BluRay and creating slide shows using all the HD pixels (no SD compromises) again on BluRay.  That of course means Adobe may need to add some tweaks in Elements 8.

PS, my PC is using an Intel Core 2 Quad processor, Vista OS, 4 GB of memory, has access to several TB of HD, and a couple of GB of Ready Boost memory (does this really help?) and a 1920 x 1200 monitor.

You could export each section as 1920x1080 MPEG2 using the Share>Personal Computer>MPEG option then selecting the MPEG2 1920x1080i export Preset.
You can also export as AVI... however this will be uncompressed AVI with a file size of over 1GB per minute... File>Export>Movie then in Settings under General>File Type select Microsoft AVI (not Microsoft DV AVI). Then in Video>Compressor select None, in Frame Size set 1920x1080 and in PixelAspect Ratio select Square Pixels.

  • Setting in Project Properties for PAL 1920 x 1080

    Hi there,
I have been using LiveType in Std Def without problem.
Now I have switched to HD, my FCE4 is editing in PAL 1920 x 1080.
What setting is FILE > Project Properties shall I set in LiveType because I see the canvas has gone too big & not managable !!

Another way to automatically adjust the properties is to simply drop in a small piece of video in the required format via the Place Background Movie command in the File menu. Save the setting and then delete the video.
I see the canvas has gone too big & not managable !!
Click the percentage button at the bottom left of the Viewer. Set it to "Fit to Screen".
    Thanks Nick.
But how do fix the size of all the various windows.
After I adjust until all the 4 windows are to my liking, I work on it.
But when I close Live Type and I fired up Live Type on the next time, all the 4 windows go haywire in size again. How do I fixed (and save) the size of the 4 windows once & for all ?

  • Rendering a video in 1080/60i  ?

I have a Canon Vixia HG30 and I record video in 1080/60i .  However, when I try to render with Adobe Premeire Elements 12 I dont see a setting for the format.  What should I do ?

    DB Cooper
Premiere Elements 11 and 12 are set up so that the program automatically sets the project preset for you based on the properties of the first video drag to the Timeline. Sometimes it does it OK, sometimes not. In those not situations, then you set the project preset manually yourself based the the video properties that you know. When the program does the set and does it wrong, it does not give you the closest set but rather its default which is NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30, which just happens to be the project preset we are targeting for anyway if your audio is Stereo and not 5.1 Channel.
If you are going to start off by letting the program do this task for you, then you can check what it has set by looking at Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Rate, and Pixel Aspect Ratio. For the project preset of NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30, you should see Project Settings
Bottom line: I would expect you to do OK letting the program set the project preset. There should be no way for it to mess up.
However, if your video has 5.1 Channel audio, then definitely set the project preset yourself manually for NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 5.1 channel UNLESS you see the 5.1 in the Audio track if you let the program set the project preset.
In this case, you cannot depend on checking the program's set with Project Settings because both
    NTSC AVCHD Full 1080i30
    and
NTSC AVCHD Full 1080i30 5.1 channel
will present the same the Project Settings dialog figures, no mention of 5.1 there.
To set the project preset manually
    File Menu/New/Project
    Change Settings
and then, before you exit the new project dialog in that area, be sure to have a check mark next to
Force Selected Project Setting on This Project.

    AVCHD with Presets = M2T - H.264 1920 x 1080i30 would be a good choice to start with for a file
saved to the computer hard drive.
Also, take a look at MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30 and see how that holds up when you shoot 1080i30 (aka 60i).
There are other shooting opportunities to explore and related Premiere Elements details - maybe 1080p60?

  • How to get better resolution on Blu-ray (1080/60i)

I'm experimenting with my new AG-AC160A camcorder and have been shooting youth hockey games in AVCHD mode, 1080/60i, 1/120 shutter, manual gain and white balance set appropriately, and florescent scene file setting due to lighting in rink. I have PP CS5 and am disappointed with the relative lack of HD-crispness when the Blu-ray output is played on my HD LED set. I used the above settings based on recommendations I saw in the forum somewhere. Any suggestions on what I can try differently? Thank you.

To elaborate on Ann's great advice, the Sequence preset you should be using is AVCHD 1080i30 (60i).
A good way to start out with the correct sequence is to import your clips and then drag one onto the "New Item" icon at lower right of Project Bin. This will create a new sequence to match the source material automatically. As Ann mentioned, you have a non-HD preview format, so if you rendered the timeline to green, and checked "Use Previews" on the final export, then your Blu-ray could have "SD quality" footage in it!!
Curious why the 1/120 shutter, hoping to get better action motion?
If you have a current timeline using the incorrect settings, go ahead and add a NEW Sequence with correct settings, open original sequence and "Select All" which is CRTL + A, then CTRL + C to Copy. Then go to the proper AVCHD sequence and Ctrl + V to Paste entire contents. You will now have the edited sequence moved into correct sequence settings. Now use Export and in AME choose "H.264 Blu-ray" and choose the 1080i preset and export, then use results in Encore. The Blu-ray should look excellent when done correctly.
When exporting from AME, do NOT check the box for "Use Previews", as you want to encode direct from original source and skip any intermediate render clips.

What setting does your FCP project use?
You can take the HDTV preset and change the frame rate, match the field dominance etc. It will show up in the project properties as "Custom".
Another way to quickly make a setup is to import a short clip of your footage: File > Place Background Movie. It will take on the properties of the clip. Then, LiveType > Settings > Remember Settings.

  • Trouble Importing Canon XF Files at 1080 60i (59.94i)?

I am completely new with Premiere Pro and editing in HD for that matter. I am still using the trial version of Premiere Pro CS5.5. My issue is that I shoot on an Canon XF300 at 1080 60i. When selecting a new project I select the following Preset [Canon XF MPEG2 1080i30 (60i)]. This is the only Preset setting I see that is 1080i and at 60i?
My issue is that I can view my XF files in the Media Browser and their properties read 59.94i, however when I import them into PP CS5.5 their properties then read 29.97 fps.
I shoot fast moving objects that require the 60i setting - how can I import these Canon XF 1080 60i (59.94i) clips into a project/sequence with the same 59.94i setting? I have looked at the manual and additional published articles and thought my issue was due to me using the Trial version, however in CS5.5 it is supposed to have all codec support so I think I ruled that out.
Any help will be much appreciated!!!
    Thanks!
    Chris

Thanks Jim for the response - so I am using the correct setting after-all. Apparently I do not understand the difference between frame rate and field rate.... it has been a truely monumental learning curve shooting with this camera and now this editing software. I am having fun with the stunning footage but it has been frustrating at times.
One additional question - why does the Media Browser list the "Frame Rate" of these clips as 59.94i and in the Project folder the "frame rate" is 29.97 fps? - Is it because the 29.97 FPS is literally 30 frames displayed per second and the 59.94i is the interlaced 60 frames to make the 30 fps? Obviously you can probably tell I am a novice.
I should then expect that this playback of this "60i" footage on my computer display will not look as smooth as the playback through a blu-ray on a HD TV?
Thanks again and I appreciate the help!

  • No Quicktime 1920 x 1080 export

    I have a 1440 x 1080 project and I'm trying to export it as a H.264 file 1920 x 1080.
The export movie function will not allow this, nor will Adobe Media Encoder.
CS3 stops encoding and will give me the following errors.
    "No Output Generated!"
"Premiere is running very low on system memory, etc."
I can however export H.264 960 x 540 all day long with no problems.
    I can even export AVI at 1920 x 1080.
    For some reason I can't export H.264 files at 1920 x 1080.
I've read all the help and searched the forums a million times.
I've got my system memory, Page file, etc. configured as suggested by Adobe help documents.
Do you have any suggestions on what this could be and how to fix?????

I put one minute of HDV on a sequence (1500 frames) and exported to Quicktime using H.264 at 1920X1080 and it worked for me.
I have Quicktime Pro 7.4.1 though.
Unbelievably slow for an export of straight cuts. More than 5 times realtime. I used a data rate of only 7,680 (the default).

  • Can fcp 5.4 use HD 1920 x 1080 footage in its proper aspect ratio?

I just got a Cannon Mark II 5D and am using fcp 5.4 to edit video.
I am not using capture and log... just dragging it in to the project bin. None of my project settings are 1920 x 1080. How do I set my aspect ratio properly?
And... to throw a kink in the mix. I did not realize this right away. I've been editing for a while. But, I'm set at a different aspect ratio. Can I change this midstream?

  • How to make the templates in PAL to 1920 x 1080 ?

    Hi there,
I did FILE > OPEN TEMPLATE.
When I was doing projects in Std Def, I select PAL, and there were a lot of templates available in PAL.
But now doing projects in HD, these templates in PAL are too small to superimpose onto the HD videos (in 1920 x 1080).
How to make these templates in 1920 x 1080 ?
    Thank you

I think you are making a big issue of something very simple as it took me less than a minute to test it out.
Make your template or whatever in LT and then select File>Render Movie and make sure that the "Render Background" box is ticked.
Put resulting file in FCE and stretch it as I described earlier.
    That's it!
If you don't want your text stretching, you can leave it off the LT movie and add it from FCE's Text functions . . . . . or you could make just the text in LT and add it on a track above the template in FCE.
You need to do some quick experiments (tests) to see how it works for you.
Incidentally, are these third party templates?
If so, you should contact the supplier to see if they have included some HD versions somewhere.
    Thanks Ian,
The reason I am asking is bcos I cannot experiment with it as I am not at home. I don't have a Mac with me.
I was hoping that FCE can import as ipr so that I do not have to render each time I make changes.
These templates are extension packs from 12 inch. Dont think they have HD version
