2.0 installation with preserving of existing 1.6 version
Hi,
I would like to have both 1.6 and 2.0 releases into the same database.
The default installation process upgrades the previous release. Is there an instruction how to install 2.0 but preserve 1.6 version to work with them at the same time and switch between when needed.

It has to do w/the Public Synonyms that HTML DB relies on. You can only have one set per instance - thus the limitation of only one version of HTML DB in an instance.
It's actually a slick architecture. When you upgrade, the installer creates a new schema for the new version's metadata. As a final step, it migrates the older version's metadata to the new schema, and then alters the public synonyms to point to the new version. Should something break after the upgrade, you can simply re-point the public synonyms back to the old schema via a script, and you'll be back running the older version.

Dual Stack NW 7.0 installation with R/3 Backend as UME
I have a quick question guys. I am about to install a dual stack NW system with ADS(SQL server database on windows) and will use a R/3 Enterprise running on unix as the UME datasource. Now this R/3 enterprise backend already acts as bakend for Portal system and uses sap logon tickets and as such already has the user SAPJSF. Now when i actually perform the NW 7.0 installation and enter a master password during the course, would this override the SAPJSF user in R/3 backend system at all.
What are the general problems that are caused with using an existing ABAP only system as the UME for your Java stack(Dual stack actually) systems. Can you advise.

NO....Not at all..
SAPJSF user is used for the communication between ABAP and JAVA stacks. SAPJSF user is an independent user of each independent ABAP stack.
ABAP data/user-store is the place where the users, roles and authorizations of an ABAP System are stored.
And with the same concept, the UME is the same mechanism for users, roles, permissions of an JAVA system.
After installation of your new NW ABAP+JAVA Stack, you will have to specify the SAPJSF user of ur old R/3 ABAP system which you want to use as User Data Store for ur Newly installed Java System's UME.
In ABAP System section u will have to provide all details of ur SAP R/3 application server, which ur portal is already using as User Data Store.
What are the general problems that are caused with using an existing ABAP only system
as the UME for your Java stack(Dual stack actually) systems. Can you advise.
It depends on the usage of your new application server.

Creating installer with office toolkit 1.1.1 and labview 8
HI All,
I am developing a large application with labview 8 and office toolkit 1.1.1 installed.
We need to make an installer to distribute our application to all of
our contractors (hundreds of them) for direct them in methods of
procedure during construction, conformance reporting, inspection and
test plan reports and finally uploading data gathered during
installation and testing to our network assets database.
I have successfully programmed the code in Labview 8 and have the
report generation functioning satisfactorialy, but when i create the
executable, i get the following message when trying to generate a
report:

Fair enough..... i consulted the toolkit manual which said that i need
to include the following llb's in the source file in the builder: "
_exclsub.llb and _wordsub.llb.
When i include these llb's in the top level folder in the project
window and try to build the exe again, i get the following"The file

BUT my destination directory is in the "my documents" folder, not in the above path!!!
What is going on?????

in the toolkit, there are different excel and word llb's for each different version of office.
This application has to distribute to many different computers, each with different versions of office.
How do i include the correct llb's for the correct version of office for every PC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.......

I. How are you adding the support files? Are you adding them when creating the executable in the source files configuration page of the build script, and if so are you marking them as dynamic VIs?
II. That’s a tough one. Since the ActiveX structure changes from one version of office to the next it would be difficult to create one executable that will work on all versions. Currently you need to have the same version on your dev machine as you do your target. Sometimes you can get away with not having the exact same version if you are only doing very generic things and the ActiveX structure hasn’t changed for those things between versions, but that is a little risky. It may be a good idea to build a couple of versions of your VI for the two or three most recent versions of Office

Windows 7 installation disk doesn't exist?
Hey guys! I am using bootcamp for the first time on my 2011 macbook pro. I go to the bootcamp assistant, then from there I click continue and check off [Install Windows 7] and [Download the latest Windows support software from apple]. After this, I put a CD in to burn the latest windows software. From there, I then created a partition for windows which I put 100GB for out of my 500GB. I then clicked install but it said that my windows 7 installation disk didn't exist. I looked around for a while but then realized that my laptop never came with a windows 7 installation disk. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to go and buy one? Thanks for any help!
Ah that's what I thought. So, I would buy a windows 7 installation disk, put it in, then click install like I did?

Runtime Error building Installer with NI-VISA Runtime
Greetings, I'm getting this error whenever I check the "NI-VISA Runtime" option in the installer app builder.
Everything builds fine when I check only the Runtime Engine. Shown below is what causes the RUNTIME ERROR and closes Labview Unexpectedly.

This is a relatively common error with the Application Builder that can happen for several different reasons, namely registry keys pointing to installations that no longer exist. The easiest way to identify the problem is to get detailed information about the installer build. Here are directions:
LabVIEW has the
ability to create a very detailed log of the events that occur when
building an application or installer. To enable this feature, open up
the LabVIEW.ini file and copy "CDK.EnableLog=true" to the bottom
of the file. Save the changes and close the ini file. The LabVIEW.ini
file is usually located in C:\Program Files\National
Instruments\LabVIEW X.X
Enabling this feature will create a log file in the %temp% directory of your computer (%...% means a computer variable) .
To
find out where this temp directory is located, go to Start>>Run.
Type in "cmd". Then type "set". This will return all of your computer's
variable names.
Look for TEMP in the list of variable names. You should see something like "TEMP=C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp".
Navigate to this directory using Windows Explorer.
You
should see a file named "Name.log" where "name" is the name of your
build specification. For example, you might see "My Installer.log" if
the name of your build specification is "My Installer".
This will give you a more detailed log of the attempted build and, if I'm correct about why this particular build failed, show you which installer is expected at that registry. If the registry points to a directory without the necessary installer (i.e. VISA), simply delete the registry and allow the App Builder to prompt you to to point to the correct location.

Hi, for one my LabVIEW application, I have created two installers
Including all the required additional installers (Installer)
With no additional installer (patch installer)
So that, for further versions they can use only patch installer.
When I try to installer both the installer of same version which created two icons in “Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features” as shown below.
When I am installing the second installer (patch), I expected that it will either overwrite the existing or it will not allow me to install. But both didn’t happen.
Please share your thoughts on the above.

Sidecar installation with Adobe AIR 1.5.3
Hi all,
I'm having some difficulty with a sidecar installation with AIR 1.5.3. I've followed the steps in the runtime redistribution pdf (especially the section "Using the bundled runtime installer") but no luck yet. Here's my scenario:
1. Building the application with the 3.4 flex sdk (the distribution says that Adobe AIR 1.5.2 is included with the 3.4 version of the flex sdk)
2. Downloaded the AIR_Mac_installer_files.dmg from http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution3.html.
3. Renamed the installer to match my application's name.
4. Created a .airinstall.cfg file which included my application's name.
5. Double clicked on the installer file, but I don't get anything. No prompt for installing the AIR application.
This is running on MAC OSX 10.5.7. My "bundled runtime installer directory" looks like:

In summary, there are three scenarios which I'm testing on each platform:
1. Installation of the application where the user does not have an AIR runtime previously installed.
2. Installation of the application where the user has an AIR runtime installed.
3. Installation of the application where the user has an AIR runtime installed and has a version of our application installed too (basically this is the update scenario)
I have a bootstrapper application which will be invoking the installer, so I understand I do not need to rename the Adobe AIR installer .exes or .app files.
On Windows XP, the command I'm invoking is shown in Picture 4.png. Basically, I'm invoking the AdobeAIRInstaller.exe file, passing a -silent flag and the name of the application I'm trying to install. This command works fine for scenarios 1 and 2 above. However, if I use this command when I try to update an existing application, I get this error:

The permissions problem I was running into in my previous post on Windows Vista is a false alarm. I wasn't running the cmd application with admin rights (despite the fact that I was logged into the OS as an admin). Running cmd.exe as an admin solved that issue.
So, I'm only stuck on the update scenario. Same thing happens on mac when I try to install on a system where Adobe AIR is already installed and the application is installed too. The .airinstall.log file shows:

I have Mac OS 10.5.8 and every time I try to install Air Adobe 3 I get the message
"You cannot use this version of the application Adobe Air Installer with this version of Mac OS X."

Adobe won't be developing for 10.5.8 new features (including new runtime) only security relates updates for existing runtimes (Flash 10.3.*/Air 2.7.*). Flash 11/Air 3.0 are only supported on 10.6.8.*/10.7.*, see:

Does the upgrade to Lion preserve an existing Bootcamp partition
Can someone give us a definitive answer on whether upgrading to lion will preserve an existing bootcamp win 7 64 bit partition (don't know if the win system matters but I tried to be specific)?
ThanksIt is supposed to install only on the OS X formatted drive you select. It does not change a Windows partition.
However, Lion must create a Recovery HD partition on the drive that requires slightly shrinking the last partition which is the Windows partition. If the installer is unable to do this then it will produce an error. In some cases the Windows volume is corrupted by the process. In this case boot from the Windows installer disc, go past the first screen into the recovery tools, and run the automatic recovery option. This should fix the problem. -
CS3 Installer asks for non-existent DVD drive
I'm running CS3 on Windows XP. I need to reinstall because I somehow lost codecs for Premiere Pro. Whenever I try to reinstall, the CS3 installer puts up an Installer Alert that asks me to insert CS3 Master Collection Disc 1 into drive G:\ to continue installation.
That sounds pretty simple, but there is no G: drive on my computer. My two DVD drives are D: and E:, and inserting the disc there has no effect. Checking the Windows device manager shows no G: device recognized anywhere on the computer.
I can only click OK, which returns the same alert, or Cancel to cancel the installation. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the CS3 installer to ask for installation disks on an existing drive. What's particularly annoying is that the installer is running from a DVD in drive E:, so you'd think it would know to ask for further discs in drive E:. I've tried it as well from drive D:.
Any ideas for getting the installer to stop asking for discs in a non-existent drive?
I've toyed with the idea of completely uninstalling CS3, but am afraid that the installer still won't work, in which case I won't be able to get any work done using CS3 at all.

The 7 steps are crucial for setting the correct cookies on your hard drive so that the Adobe servers will grant you access to the download files when you click the links.

Follow the Very Important Instructions (Step 0 to Step 6 = 7 Steps)

In my case even after uninstalling all 2005 related components it didn't worked. I had to resort to a brute force way and
remove following registry keys

Insert installation points (subitems) in existing bom

Thanks for the quick response. The item I am talking about is a simple cable which is used in meters(only one unit). But for variable size item, we need more than 1 dimension right? The scenario is like this,
Material : Cable12345
Application:
Used in a single elctrical panel for different application as follows
a) for coolant motor
b) for servo motor
Here they are identifying these two applications with different tagging like CB6 & CB17
In the BOM they are giving Cable12345 as an item for the electrical panel and they are adding the length of cable required for both the application (4M + 6M) and giving as 10 M against the code. I want to split the same thing using installation point as follows

Coolant motor 4M CB6(tagging reference)

If I define the BOM like this structure, I assume the consumption will be for 10M (item qty) and we can print the SI content in the production order.

AIR application installer with multiple languages
How can I distribute my AIR desktop app for Windows and OS X, with multiple languages in the installer? My app itself is completely localized, but I want the installer to be localized too. The issue is, though, that I need it to be localized into Hebrew, which isn't one of the built-in AIR languages. How can I create a custom installer with Hebrew included?

Installation with LUKS encryption--ok to grub, then black screen
I'm trying to install ArchLinux onto an existing Luks encrypted HDD, formerly dual boot with Fedora 17.
First,I left the Windows partition unchanged and erased the root partition. Then I booted to the ArchLinux, mounted and decrypted the LVM encrypted volume group partitions and followed along with the Beginner's Guide Installation Instructions. This progressed without a hitch; near as I can tell. I can boot to grub select kernel interface, but no further.
So I forgot something...the encrypted volume. I found the archLinux page dm-crypt with LUKS and tried my best to follow along encouraged by the first line, "The installation of a LUKS-encrypted system is largely the same as installing an unencrypted system."
And that's where I stand. I edited the grub.cfg to boot to run level 3, but the kernel doesn't seem to load at all and never starts to give me the chance to enter the password. So now I'm not sure if its the LUKS encryption after all. (maybe its my _next_ problem)
Any ideas?

I left sda1 alone. Reinstalled on sda2 (/boot) and sda3 (cryptVG-root). I also remade swap. I didn't see an opportunity to set /usr/local, so I may simply free up this space after copying the data. But for home I set up a sub directory for the new install and left the old user in place (something I've been wanting to accomplish for some time as anaconda is not so nice to old user files). -
Need to Install Safari 6.0.2 on a white Intel core duo iMac. Had to throw out 6.0.3 because of conflict with required software. Downloaded wrong version that was for Mountain lion (I am running 10.7.5). It installs but won't open, says it is for Mountian Lion.
Of course I can't throw it away since I get a message it's part of the sytem.
