2.2.1 Sync Problem - SOLVED - Sort Of

Congratulations to whoever it was in Macrumors or somewhere else that solved this. It's a DRM issue. If you deauthorised your computer from iTunes (all accounts), then it syncs. My two unsync'able units - iPod Touch and iPhone 3G - can now sync happily, of course omitting any DRM'd content including applications and DRM music.
For the full description, read the thread here :

Clearly, Apple now know about this, so we sit waiting for an update ! Thanks again for all your detective work.

  • Outlook 2003 + iPhone calendar sync problem solved

Here is how I solved my sync problem. Seems a lot of people have the same problem here with Outlook sync suddenly not working after it worked fine for a long time.
I've had Outlook 2003 calendar sync with my iPhone for a few month without any problem, but a few days ago the sync suddenly stopped without any error message. iTunes Diagnostic found no problem and I followed all the steps that Apple outlines to fix the problem but nothing worked (TS2776).
As Apple asked to, I created a new user account on my Windows machine and setup a few test calendar entries to sync with my iPhone. That all worked fine.
So I did what Apple doesn't tell you, and I copied my original Outlook Data file (.PST) over to my new user account and tried to sync that one. Now this didn't work. So I knew the problem lies somewhere in my PST file.
I have then tried to create a new one from scratch in my original Windows account, and copy all the data over. Again, it didn't work. So I emptied the file again, and copied all my calendar entries over to the new PST file in batches (first 10, then another 10, etc).
What I found at the end is that one single calendar entry I created a few days ago caused my sync to stop working. Once I removed this entry, everything worked fine again. Don't ask me what was wrong with it (I made a backup just in case Apple wants to see it), but now everything works again.
If you want to save some time to find which one it is, you may start deleting entries that you created just recently before it stopped working.
    Hope that helps.

Hi im having the same problem. I use outlook 2003 on windows xp and until recently my sync (using usb) was working fine. Now it would seem that calendar items are no longer syncing. can you give any further details of the calendar entry which was causing your problem? im wondering if it was added on a certain date perhaps.
I am running the inbox repair tool to see if my pst file has any problems but would appreciate any other help in the mean time.
    Cheers

  • ITunes on Windows 8 Syncing Problems Solved!

NOTE: I have only had this problem on Windows 8, not Windows 7, so if you're having trouble on Windows 7, this might not help you.
If you are experiencing the issue where your device never fully syncs, disconnects halfway through, freezes after "waiting for changes to be applied," then I believe this solution will help you.
    Follow these steps:
    1) Locate your iTunes.exe file. This can be found by the following path: Start--> All Apps (little arrow that appears on bottom left of screen when you mouse over it) -->This PC (on the far right) --> whatever drive you installed iTunes on (if you are not sure, it is the C drive by default) --> Program Files (x86) --> iTunes --> in this folder you will see a file labeled "iTunes.exe" or just "iTunes" make sure you're NOT on the "iTunesHelper" icon for the next step.
    2) Right-click on the file and hit "Properties"
    3) Click the tab labeled "Compatibility"
    4) Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    5) Click the drop-down menu just underneath that check box and choose "Windows 7"
    6) Now check the box labeled "Run this program as an administrator
    7) Click "Apply"
    8) Click "Ok"
    9) All done! Now try syncing whatever device was giving you trouble and it should work. My iPhone had to sync about 3000 songs and it failed about halfway through, but all I had to do was restart the sync and it finished the remaining 1500 or so.
Just thought I should offer this tip for those of you running Windows 8 and having syncing problems .

Yes that is a standard fix:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Photo Booth problem solved--sort of

Photo Booth hasn't been working on my new 24" iMac for weeks--at least 5 or 6 of the last 7 or 8 weeks that I've owned it. I've floundered for answers and have looked everywhere and never found a single answer to why it didn't work. At first it didn't work in any accounts. Then it worked in other accounts but not in mine. Then it worked in other programs in my account but not in PhotoBooth, which is the program I wanted it to work in. All all of that without my doing a thing! (I did reinstall the apps and updated the OS, but never by deleting my original OS installation. And even after doing all that, PhotoBooth STILL didn't work.
So tonight I was clicking around blindly trying to find a nonexistent PhotoBooth preferences file when I stumbled on this sequence directories:
    Macintosh hd
    Previous systems
    2008-07-18_1932
    Applications
    PhotoBooth
I clicked on the PhotoBooth listed there, and Photobooth started and worked! So I deleted the PhotoBooth icon in the dock and dragged the working and newly discovered Photobooth icon to the old icon's place in the dock. I clicked on it, and PhotoBooth worked! I rebooted my comptuer and PhotoBooth still worked!
I don't understand the whys and wherefors of any of this, as I've hardly had any time to spend learning the new Mac computer since I've owned it, but if any of you have a black screen when you start PhotoBooth, look first in the Previous Systems folder and then follow the directories until you reach the photobooth application listed there. Click on it. If PhotoBooth works, then you've solved the problem.
I don't know why the guy at the Apple store couldn't fix it and why there seemed to be no one on the forums that knew how to repair it, but I guess he lesson is clear: just keep on clicking!

Hi, P/Booth has been an issue at times. Thankfully you found the solution,,Well Done.
Remember though sometimes it is the initial ? that may need re editing....L

  • Syncing Problem Solved

I discovered that the Manual does NOT tell you that in order to sync, you have to go to:
    SYSTEM PREFERENCES
    SHARING
    And in the FIREWALL Section,
You have to check off the box next to iTunes Music Library
    Then, the sync started immediately.
But, I have not figured out how to stream. It won't do it. And, in order to delete things from the Apple TV Hard Drive, you have to tell it NOT to SYNC any more. Then, it will remove them. Kind of crazy. Apple needs to allow Manually controllling the Apple TV content so you can Drag and Drop and Delete at will. In the next version I hope.
    Hope this helps people.
    Larry in Los Angeles

I bought a few of these, on my mac I didn't even notice that you could stream (though I did not check)
It did show a pop up saying you needed to allow this.
However on Windows you get no such indicator, I cannot seem to synch anything on the windows side, it shows up as what I check to sync, but it never gets downloaded to the windows device. I can stream from the windows machine to the device with no problems.
any ideas? i got itunes as an allowed program on the windows firewall, but it will not stream

  • Openldap problem solved, sort of

My logs have been flooded with these messages:
com.apple.launchd[1] (org.openldap.slapd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Looked into various solutions, including force rebind, deleting caches, etc. Nothing worked. Finally went into server admin, found that the server was configured as an ldap master pointing to a database at /var/db/openldap/openldap-data which doesn't exist. Clicked the "change" button and reconfigured as a standalone server, error logs go away (I assume the openldap daemon is no longer running). We don't use ldap anyway, however, just wondering, if we did, how would one go about creating the database?

  • [SOLVED, sort of] After nvidia upgrade, computer crashes at logout

My video card is Nvidia GEForce 6150 LE, rev 2.  After I upgraded nvidia  on 10/10/08, my computer crashes whenever I log out, and I have to shut down the power and reboot.  This happens on kde and gnome, and also when I press Control-Alt-Backspace.  I tried the new nvidia-173xx drivers, but they didn't work at all.  Finally I went back to vesa, and that works.

Problem solved, sort of.  I noticed that the Flint, Michigan mirror was 15 days out of sync, and I downloaded the old nvidia driver from there.  Now everything works fine, as before.  Here's the page that tells the status of mirrors:
    http://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html
Still, it would be nice to use the new driver.   If anyone else has this problem and has missed out on the out-of-sync mirrors, send me an email and I can give you the package.

  • How to solve sync problem between Outlook calendar and iPhone when reminder is set to _some_ non-standard values?

    Hi,
I am having a sync problem between my iPhone/iPad and Outlook calendar events (Outlook 2010).
Here is the description of the problem:
    1. In Outlook - please create a new event/appointment (e.g. "Test").
    2. Reminder is set by default to 15 minutes. You can change it by using a dropdown menu - please select: "0,5 days".
    3. Click on "0,5 days" and change it manually to "14,5 days".
    4. Click on "Save & Close".
    5. (Do not snooze or dismiss the reminder.)
    6. Sync with your iPhone/iPad.
    7. Open this new event on iPhone/iPad - you can see that alert is set to "15 minutes before" instead to a correct value that was set in Outlook.
The same problem can be seen if you set the reminder to e.g. "3 weeks" (standard value is "2 weeks").
However, it is interesting that non-standard values like "1,5 days" (and all other until "13,5 days") are synced without any problem.
Does anyone have a solution how to solve this problem (different than the trivial solution of not using those strange values)?
    Thanks!

Thanks to another post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17501071#17501071) I reset the sync history, here is what to do:
    Launch iTunes.
Before you hook up your iPhone to the PC and iTunes do this: Go to iTunes Edit menu > Preferences… > select the iPhone > click the Reset Synch History button > click OK.
Connect the iPhone to the PC and let iTunes recognize it.
In the top right corner is the iPhone icon, click on the left side of the iPhone icon > the iPhone menu launches.
In the menu along the top click on Info > make your selections > click Sync button > it gives you a dialog at the top with the steps it’s going through during the sync.
In the top left of the iTunes app > click Exit.

  • Notes sync problem

For a long time I've been syncing notes between my iPhone 3G and my MacBook with no problem. Today I find that the past few syncs have not really worked; a handful of new notes created on the iPhone do not appear in Mail notes on the MacBook. Conversely, a handful of others that I deleted on the iPhone are still on the MacBook. New notes I create now seem to work - but the notes in question remain unaffected; I can't get them to sync. This glitch is a rather large one, as I use notes a lot (I have over 300).
Resetting the iPhone did nothing. I don't want to overwrite the iPhone notes with those from the MacBook, since the iPhone notes are the more up-to-date, and it would be a huge problem to sort out. Also, I'm worried about why this occurred in the first place, and if I should expect it again. This is one of the main things I use the iPhone/MacBook for, and I really rely on it.

Okay, I seemed to have solved my problem. (Remember beforehand when I was able to sync my notes between my devices, but nothing wanted to talk to my machine or vice versa.)
On a hunch, I reviewed my notes... er... the notes I wrote on paper with this issue in troubleshooting.
Half of my notes were created "On My Mac," others were in a .Mac/MobileMe folder I long ago coincidentally called "Notes." This never caused a problem in the past. Both categories of notes were showing up under "Notes" in Mail's sources list. I would click "Notes" and view all notes saved. I moved all notes from my MobileMe subcategories to new notes created within the On My Mac category. This was done via copy/paste.
In doing this, I discovered a note (that is to say an Email that I had moved into my coincidentally named "Notes" folder) that had two attachments on it. As soon as I moved this to another folder, notes synced appeared rightfully in mail.
My original hunch was that email messsages with attachments going into this Notes folder muddled up the sync. I might be right that getting those out of there may have fixed it.
    In short:
    1. I moved all notes into "On My Mac," copied and pasted content of notes into New Notes if needed.
    2. Deleted the newly "old" notes (denoted as being in plain text rather than the marker-felt style).
    3. Move notes with non-picture attachments to other folders (e.g. "Saved")
    4. Avoid calling any folder "Notes" or rename folders called such if you already had them
    5. Re-sync.

  • Photo booth - audio video out of sync problem

    Hi
I'm using Mountain Lion 10.8.1 and Photo Booth 5.0
Photo Booth has severe audio video syncing problems!! When I record a video, the audio is out of sync with the video.
I managed to get it to "sort of" work: every time I want to record a video, I restart the program. I also wait a few seconds to say something after I started to record. Movies longer than a couple of minutes are always out of sync, even when I restart the program....
Untill now I haven't been able to find a sollution for this problem. I searched the web and more people are having these difficulties and don't know how to fix it either....
Maybe someone here knows the answer to fix this problem?
I hope apple will fix this problem in their next update???
    Nice regards!

    Hi
I found the solution for the audio / video sync problem in Photo Booth!!!!!
Go to your Launchpad and open audio/midi configuration. Make sure that your input and output has the same settings. I changed the input and output to 2 channel 16-bit 44100,0 hz. And this did the trick for me!!
Now I can record as many video's after each other without restarting the program and they are all synced one hundred procent!!!!

  • MfE sync problem

I have this recurring problem when I try to sync my email. It works fine for weeks on end and then suddenly this crops up.
Apologies in advance for the long post but I want to give as much details as possible :-)
    Firmware: 110.07.127 09-10-2008 RM-346 Nokia E71-1 (27)
MfE: Version 2.07 (0) (Downloads as 2.7 but installs as 2.07)
Exchange Server Version: 8.1.278.2 (Corporate server)
    Now this is what happens:
    1. I press the mail shortcut key, MfE opens up
    2. Options > Synchronise e-mail
    3. EGPRS indicator comes on, and goes off after some time
    4. Mail is NOT synchronised
    5. Log shows "You do not have permission to connect to the Exchange server. Please contact your administrator.."
    BUT
If I go to Messaging>Options>Settings>E-mail>Mail for Exchange>Current Status>Options>Synchronise it then synchronises perfectly
    Observations:
    1. When I delete admin_log1.txt and pdu_log.txt, the sync works the way it was supposed to the first time.
    2. After that, back to no sync.
admin_log1.txt after trying the "normal" sync and then the "long way" sync is below:

    Problem solved!
My domain logon password and Exchange password are due to be renewed in a few days.
Whenever I log on to the network or mail on my laptop, I get a reminder to change the password.
It looks like this reminder screen/message can't be handed by MfE so it seems to be showing up as some sort of an error, which for some reason is ignored when I sync it 'the long way'.
I changed the password(s) today and voila! No more error messages!
Is anyone else facing the same problem? If you are, try changing the password before it expires and see if that helps!

  • IPhone Sync Problems with VISTA After iTunes Upgrade to 7.4

Upon upgrading to iTunes 7.4 I was unable to sync my Outlook calendar or contacts to the iPhone. Called Apple Support that they seemed to know nothing about this problem general problem despite all of the discussions on this and many other tech. boards.
After being told remove and reinstall iTunes and Outlook, set-up a new user account, etc... (none of which worked) I finally concluded that perhaps the .pst file being used by outlook was simply incompatible with iTunes for some reason (e.g. unsupported recurring calendar items).
SOLUTION: Create a new outlook .pst data file. Once created, open up that new file along with the defective .pst file. Then, simply change the view of calendars and contacts in your old calendar such that you can see all of the items in a list. Highlight the items you want to keep and simply click-and-drag them to the nes .pst file. This solves all of the sync. problems I had post-7.4 upgrade. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete this painless fix.
This was so annoying for me that I'd be happy to help someone complete this simple task if they need help. < Edited by Host, for your protection, no personal information please. >

Then it would appear to be an issue with your router. What router? Model? Is the firmware up to date?

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  So if I am understanding you when you try to sync it goes to calendar and freezes and never completes the sync.  That being the case the first thing you want to do is go to the conduits and turn off calendar then sync and all should be successful, except calendar will not sync.  What this indicates is that you have corrupted data in your calendar, most likely on the E2.  Do a google search on your computer for a utility 'dbfixit' and download it to your computer.  Extract it so you have the dbfixit.prc file and double click on it to put it in the installer.  Then, insuring the calendar conduit is off, sync to install it.  Once installed run dbfixit.  This utility is free or can be purchased for (I believe) 12.95.  The free version will search for corruption and problems let you know where they are and you will have to manually fix or delete them.  If you register it, when you run the utility it will find the errors and fix them as well.  Once all errors are fixed, turn the calendar conduit back on and you should be able to sync.
