2 Column Page Layout

I'm wondering if there is any way to have two-columns set up in one section of a document and then one column in another. I'm working on taking notes for my biology class and am trying to separate the vocabulary words from the notes themselves, and was wondering if I can set up a vocabulary sub-heading in which the vocabulary words would be in a two-column set-up and the rest of the document in a one-column set-up. Is there any easy way to do this without having to deal with text boxes?

Since sections usually start on a new page, I find it better for me to insert a layout break.

  • How can I insert multiple page contents in the page layout properly?

    I wanted to create 4 columns on the page layout. These 4 columns are of page contents.
    After creating new web page based on that page layout, I attempted to enter 4 different inputs on all 4 columns.
    Then, the result (from all columns) becomes the same.

    First, I copied the HTML snippet for the Page Content on Sharepoint's Design Manger. The code of Page Content HTML snippet is shown below:

    After I published the page layout, I found the code for Page Content from its ASPX page. The code is shown below:
    <div data-name="Page Field: Page Content">
    <PageFieldRichHtmlField:RichHtmlField FieldName="f55c4d88-1f2e-4ad9-aaa8-819af4ee7ee8" runat="server"/></div>
    So, I attempted to create 4 columns by using 4 HTML snippets of Page Content on the same page layout. The page layout is generated from HTML file to ASPX file.
    Then I edited some parts in ASPX page layout:
    <asp:Content runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="PlaceHolderMain">

    </div>
    </td>
    <td style="width:175px;">&nbsp;</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </asp:Content>
    The 4 columns for Page Contents appeared on the web page when I created new page using that page layout. But the problem is that all 4 columns displayed the same result from 4th column.

  • Inherit page layout

    Hello,
    we have created a page (=page 1) which has a 2 column page layout.
    We then copy this page, and paste it as a deltalink into another folder.
    Opening the new page (page 2), the layout is the same as from page 1 (which is correct).
    Then, when I change the name of the second page (page 2) into e.g. 'home', for some reason also the attibute on the page 'main object' is changed (you get this 'is not equal' icon in front of this attribute').
    When I then change the page layout on 'page 1' into 3 colums, I expect this to be changed on the second page (page 2/home) to be changed as well.
    Unfortunately, this doesn't happen !!!
    It does work when I do not change the page name on the second page, but well, I don't want all my pages to have the name 'page 1'.......
    Hope someone can help me out ...

    Hi Evelin,
    Once you change the name of the delta linked target page i dont think,it would reflect the details of the changes made in the Source page.
    check this link :
      <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/52/2aae870450df4b945c4481f2ac1c2e/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/52/2aae870450df4b945c4481f2ac1c2e/frameset.htm</a>
    Probably you can try this... first delta link the page and then change the layout in source so that it gets reflected in the target page, once it gets completed then change the name of the target page locally in your case it is page 2.
    So that you can have a different name to the target page as well.

  • Custom Page Layout Columns Fail to Appear Outside Preview

    I created a custom page layout (jsp) in the Netweaver Developer Studio and used it as a template to create a page.  The page layout has 7 containers/columns.  When I create a page using that template and view the page object's layout, everything looks fine, and once I've assigned an iView to each column and preview the page, it looks good too - all iviews are there.  When I assign it to a role and preview the page from there, it also looks fine.
    However, here is the problem: when I navigate to the role on the portal to view the page, the last (bottom) two iviews fail to appear, as if those iviews or columns were never assigned.
    Is this a problem with having too many columns in a page layout?  Has anyone had this problem before?
    I tried deleting columns 4 and 5 in the page layout so that there were only 5 columns total (but the last two were the same last two from before), and that worked perfectly well.  When I added just one more, things got messed up again.  Please help.

    Just an update...
    When I create a 1 column (full width) page (not using a custom page layout or anything), and then add the problem page I was talking about above to this 1 column page (via deltaLink), and add this new page to the role, the new page displays the custom page perfectly, just as the preview shows.  The old page still refuses to display the last two columns (unlike its preview), but they appear in the old page WITHIN the new page.  I don't know why this is.
    Mainly for curiosity but also because I do not necessarily wish to use this solution (I will need to create many pages and this will double the number of pages to create), I would appreciate it if people could continue to offer suggestions.
    Thanks!
    Adele

  • Looking for a two-column CSS layout

    I am looking for a two-column CSS layout that is centered
    with blank space
    on the sides, so the layout does not expand across the entire
    screen, but
    instead uses a portion of it (such as 75%). The left column
    would be for
    navigation and I haven't decided if I want it to be liquid or
    fixed, but the
    right column for content would be liquid. There would also be
    a heading div
    and navigation div across the top and a footer across the
    bottom.
    While looking for sample sites I keep finding ones that use
    three columns,
    and I'm worried that if I remove the third column that the
    layout will break
    at some point, even if I don't see it in my test browsers.
    I'm also
    discovering that some of the sample pages out there don't
    respond well when
    I resize the browser window. The columns don't have a minimum
    width or they
    stack on top of each other at some point.
    There are so many different techniques to use when designing
    a layout with
    CSS, some better than others, that I thought maybe some
    people here may
    already know what's tried and true and what should be
    avoided. Are any
    layouts robust enough to allow a third column to be added at
    a future date
    if needed? I also like the idea of putting the content div
    first in the
    code, to improve search engine indexing and also to aid those
    who may be
    using a screen reader, but if that feature makes the coding
    much more
    complex then I could see why I might avoid it for now.

    Sorry Nancy, I didn't see your post for some reason. At least

  • SharePoint Bug? Conflict Error when saving a Page with a "Required" DateTime field in the page layout

    Hello,
    I've just recently encountered a weird error / bug in SharePoint. Here is the scenario:
    - I have a custom column "Test Date" that is of DateTime field type. The field is configured as REQUIRED.
    - It is added to a custom Content Type "Test CT" that is based on a "Publishing Page" content type
    - I have created a Page Layout "Test PL" which is based on that particular content type.
    Now here is what happens:
    1. I try to create a page based on both that Content Type and Page Layout in the Pages Library. I manage to create it successfully.
    2. However, when I go to try and edit the page, fill-in the required values and try to save it using the PAGE TAB -> SAVE BUTTON, I get the below error/s. Note that this happens no matter what I choose in the drop-down menu for Save Button.
    "The file XXX has been modified by USER on DATE"
    But I know I am the ONLY user modifying the page.
    If I try to save again it gives me options to whether Discard my Changes, Keep Editing, Overwrite Changes, or Merge.
    3. HOWEVER, if I use the Save button on the UPPER RIGHT corner of the screen (the shortcut). I am able to save successfully without any errors!
    The only thing I've tried that made it work was if I made the DateTime OPTIONAL. But I need it to be REQUIRED.
    Is there any workaround to this error / bug?
    Thanks

    I have some additional info but nothing really good.
    If you click the Save in the left side of the Ribbon then it looks like that is when you get the message. If you click the Save in the top right corner you won't get the message. They must be calling different saving functions.
    There really is no way around it other than making the field optional which probably removes some server side validation checks causing that message.
    We've chosen to remove that field from the page as I needed it required, then they can't publish the page until they go to the properties and set the article date. By removing the field from the page layout the message goes away.
    I hope MS will fix this at some point.

  • Custom control in custom page layout not getting shown

    Hi,
    I have created a site column for Date field:
    <Field ID="{GUID}" Name="MyCustomPageLayoutDate" StaticName="MyCustomPageLayoutDate" Group="TestGroup" Type="DateTime" Format="DateOnly" DisplayName="Date" Required="FALSE" ><Field ID ="{guid}" Name ="MyCustomLayoutDateDisplay" DisplayName="Date Display"
             Group="TestGroup"
             Type="Calculated"
             ResultType="Text"
             ReadOnly="TRUE"
             Required="FALSE">
        <Formula>=TEXT([Date],"MMMM dd, yyyy")</Formula>
      </Field>
    This is added in the page layout content type:
    <FieldRef ID="{guid}" Name="MyCustomPageLayoutDate" />  <FieldRef ID="{guid}" Name ="MyCustomLayoutDateDisplay" />
    In the custom page layout, it is added as below:
    <Publishing:EditModePanel ID="EditModePanel5" runat="server" CssClass="edit-mode-panel">
    <tr>
    <td>
    Date
    </td>
    </tr>
    </Publishing:EditModePanel>
    <PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel ID="DateEditModePanel" runat="server" PageDisplayMode="Edit" SupressTag="True">
    <tr>
    <td >
    <PageFieldDateTimeField:DateTimeField ID="DateTimeField1" FieldName="GUID" runat="server">
    </PageFieldDateTimeField:DateTimeField>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel>
    <PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel ID="DatePublishModePanel" PageDisplayMode="Display" runat="server">
    <tr>
    <td>
    <SharePoint:CalculatedField ID="CalculatedDateField" FieldName="guid" runat="server" />
    </td>
    </tr>
    </PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel>
    In the edit mode, the date is getting shown, and I am able to select a date. When the page is published, the entered date is not getting displayed.
    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I tried to reproduce this issue like this:
    1. Create a DateTime site column “MyDateTimeCol01”;
    2. Create a Calculated site column “MyCalculated03” with formula “=TEXT(MyDateTimeCol01,"MMMM dd, yyyy")”;
    3. Create a Page Layout content type contains the two site columns above;
    4. Create a Page Layout with the Page Layout content type, the source code of this page layout as below:
    <asp:Content ContentPlaceholderID="PlaceHolderMain" runat="server">
    <PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel runat=server id="EditModePanel1" PageDisplayMode="Edit">
    <SharePointWebControls:DateTimeField FieldName="9492c1ff-851f-4d1c-bcbf-5637b69ebd63" runat="server"> </SharePointWebControls:DateTimeField>
    </PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel>
    <br/>
    <PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel runat=server id="EditModePanel2" PageDisplayMode="Display">
    date time text:
    <br/>
    <SharePointWebControls:CalculatedField FieldName="9c00c4dc-6a53-4abd-9fa4-6b4dd266c898" runat="server"></SharePointWebControls:CalculatedField>
    </PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel>
    </asp:Content>
    5. After that, create a publishing page with this custom page layout:
    In Edit mode:
    In Display mode:
    I suggest you follow the steps above to make another test to see if the issue persists.
    Thanks

  • Example Named Column Report Layout?

    Howdy,
    Using APEX 3.1.2, I've successfully setup and tested Apache FOP for a print server. I'm hoping to create a multi-line report layout to emulate the MS Access (of Evil) one this app is replacing, but I'm having trouble getting started.
    It seems that I need to create a Named Column report layout. I've been scouring this forum, the web, and even the new Pro APEX book to find an example of the contents of even the simplest of these XSL-FO files, but I can't find one anywhere. Granted, a little XSL-FO experience would help here, but I can't seem to glean enough from the web to put the pieces together, at least as it applies to APEX. It seems that the examples I do find contain static data, whereas it looks like I should be creating a template form for APEX to populate for passing onto the FOP engine.
    Does anyone have a simple two-column layout they'd be willing to share? Or a good weblink?
    TIA!

  • How to change the page layout to fit 2 portlets in a row?

    Hi,
    I am very new to Plumtree portal, please be gentle.
    We are in the trial and design phase for our company's portal and we are tring Plumtree now.
    We selected the page layout as one narrow panel and one wide panel. In the wide panel, I have a wide portlet to fit the whole row on the top, then we want to divide to 2 columns under the first portlet as the middle section of the page, so that we can place 1 chart on left side and 1 chart on right side of the wide panel.
    HOW TO DO IT?
    also, now I developed 2 testing portlets in vb.net. Top one is the wide one. The 2nd one is a chart, when I deployed it in the page, the chart overlaps the top portlet! HOW TO FIX IT?

    By default you can only lay out the portlets in the assigned columns and cannot span, but you could try cheating (I don't know what the impacts of this might be, though, so be careful)
    Change the layout to a 2-column that also has a content canvas (darker gray box). For your portlet you want to have span both columns, set it up as a content canvas (you may have to re-register it). I think that might work, but... honestly, I don't know enough about content canvas settings to konw what might happen down the road. I'm hoping "a portlet is a portlet is a portlet"
    Like this...
    [         content canvas         ] <-- put your portlet here
    [ narrow ] [         wide         ]
    It also sounds like you're using gridlayout on your .NET portlet - you'll want to change that to use flow. Grid will use absolute positioning (bad here). I'd suggest reading the .NET web consumer install / developer PDF for additional info on how to get ASP.NET portlets to work.

  • Change portal Page layout from Web Dynpro

    I have some problem:
    I need to rearrange Portal Page layout from 2 columns to 1 collumn from Dynpro action. Decision to hide 1 Column or resize its width to 0 is good idea, but I do not now how.
    Absolute Navigation is wrong idea, because I need to go back to multiply IViews mode and I will lost my data context.
    I saw PageService - custom Portal service, where I can resize IViews.
    In my Netweaver 2004 this class is absent.
    Probably exist some Portal events to manage Page layout? Anybody knows?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    For this we have to use eventing among the webdynpro components of two different views.You can refer this example for this.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e8d7cd90-0201-0010-4a8c-dd22fa16ca0a

  • Three column fixed layout and text-wrap

    I have a page using the three col fixed header and footer
    layout.
    I know that if your #maincontent div has a left margin the
    width+ of the left sidebar, the sidebar appears to continue down
    the page no matter how much content is has in it. In the 3 column
    fixed layout comments it says to delete that margin if you want the
    text to flow into that space after the sidebar content ends. This
    is what I want but it does not work in IE 7.
    Is there a workaround?
    www.sandracase.com
    www.sandracase.com

    Instead of that ,  define three windows for three clolumns and then define three text modules  that would be very easy. I have done the similar requirement for 2 columns.
    Reward points if useful.

  • How do I create a template/page layout for artwork for a folder?

    Hi can someone please explain how I can create a page layout in Indesign CS5 to design the artwork for a folder.  The folder is an A4 paper wallet type folder with a 3mm spine - I'm just not sure how to build this on the page!  I have a subcription to lynda.com but can't seem to search out a relevant tutorial.
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    Olwen

    Do you mean for a Pocket Folder?
    Here's a quick and dirty way.
    New document > Page Size > A3 > Toggle wide
    Place your curser in the width and after the dimension type +3mm
    Set Columns to 2, Gutter = 3mm
    Margins 0
    Bleed, if needed, to 3mm

  • Special characters (norwegian wovels) not showing correctly in Page Layouts

    We have a publishing site which surfaces content from several catalogs in an authoring site in a cross site collection publishing environment.
    We have a problem with labels for Catalog-Item Reuse Snippets containing norwegian vowels/special characters not showing properly. An example of a snippet is shown below. This contains the character ø (oslash).
    <div class="rightColPaddingUnder"><h2>Leverandørkontakt</h2>
    <!--CS: [NavnhovedkontaktleOWSTEXT] Start Catalog-Item Reuse Snippet-->
    <!--SPM:<cc1:CatalogItemReuseWebPart runat="server" UseServerSideRenderFormat="True" ResultType="" NumberOfItems="1" UseSharedDataProvider="True" OverwriteResultPath="False" ResultsPerPage="1" SelectedPropertiesJson="[&#34;NavnhovedkontaktleOWSTEXT&#34;]" Title="$Resources:Microsoft.Office.Server.Search,CBSItem_Title;" Description="$Resources:Microsoft.Office.Server.Search,CBSItem_Description;" MissingAssembly="Cannot import this Web Part." ID="g_1d79f6d5_037f_43b3_ac4b_4e7bc10ff1c3" __WebPartId="{1d79f6d5-037f-43b3-ac4b-4e7bc10ff1c3}">-->
    <!--SPM:<RenderFormat>-->
    <!--DC:Viser verdi fra søk uten ekstra formatering.-->
    <!--SPM:</RenderFormat>-->
    <!--SPM:</cc1:CatalogItemReuseWebPart>-->
    <!--CE:End Catalog-Item Reuse Snippet-->
    </div>
    The frontend messes the character up and displays this as strange A
    We have tried several things in order to fix this but are running out of leads:
    tried to change encoding in the page layout html file from utf-8 to iso-8859-1
    tried to replace ø with the hex value (&#248;) and the old school & + oslash + ; way of encoding characters
    Regional settings on the server is verified to be norwegian
    The strange part is that actual content in the content type columns that we display around the page actually shows the norwegian characters correctly

    Excellent, thanks!. I checked the top level globalization setting i IIS and this was set to Windows-1252.
    However, our work around solution was to add the
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    declaration inside the first MS-statement inside the body tag of the page layout HTML file like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!--SPG:
    -->
    <!DOCTYPE html[]>
    <html class="no-js" lang="en" xmlns:mso="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" xmlns:msdt="uuid:C2F41010-65B3-11d1-A29F-00AA00C14882">
    <head>
    <title>Some title
    </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <!--MS:<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolderTopNavBar" runat="server">-->
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <!--MS:<SharePoint:AspMenu ID="TopNavigationMenu" runat="server" EnableViewState="false" DataSourceID="topSiteMap" AccessKey="&#60;%$Resources:wss,navigation_accesskey%&#62;" UseSimpleRendering="true" UseSeparateCss="false" Orientation="Horizontal" StaticDisplayLevels="1" AdjustForShowStartingNode="false" MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels="3" SkipLinkText="">-->
    Strange, but it worked.
    Actually we tried to set the globalization settings in the web.config files of the different IIS sites running in the webapp yesterday like this:
    <add name="SPWindowsClaimsAuthentication" type="Microsoft.SharePoint.IdentityModel.SPWindowsClaimsAuthenticationHttpModule, Microsoft.SharePoint.IdentityModel, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" />
    </httpModules>
    <globalization requestEncoding="utf-8" responseEncoding="utf-8" culture="nb-NO" fileEncoding="utf-8"/>
    <!--<globalization fileEncoding="utf-8" />-->
    <compilation batch="false" debug="false">
    As far as I can understand this should have the same effect as setting this in IIS.
    It seems that the IIS setting actually overrides whatever you put in web.config for globalization options.
    We have updated the IIS setting now to UTF-8 and done a IIS Reset. At the moment we get corrupted characters still, but now the existing aspx-files probably is corrupted and needs to be replaced with fresh ones. I will do a catalog dis-/reconnect.
    I'll update with whatever we end up with as the final solution. Anyway, very grateful for the invaluable help from a fellow Scandinavian :-)

  • Importing framework page layouts

    Hello,
    I am trying to configure a portal frame work page myself. I have created the necessery iViews such as MastHead, toplevel navigation etc and pages. <i><b>Now i need to assign tghe portal framework layouts such as "Light Navigation Panel & Content Area Layout" or "Frame work page layouts for light portals" etc.</b></i>
    I searched for the same in Layout templates folder. But i could find only the default layouts such as 1 Column(full Width), 2 Columns (Equal width)etc
    When i tried to create a new layouts from PAR, i coud only find the default layouts par file. <b>Where could i get these PAR files?</b>
    <b>How can import these portal layouts</b>
    Kindly help,
    Regards,
    Sudheesh

    Hi Sudheesh,
    You can create your own Page layout file using this <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sapportals.km.docs/documents/a1-8-4/How%20to%20Create%20a%20New%20Portal%20Desktop.zip">zip file</a>.
    To create a new framework page import the par file into your Netweaver Developer studio. You will find the foll: jsp's dynNavArea.jsp,framework.jsp and WAandNavPanel.jsp. You can change the jsp's and deploy it again which will overwrite the default one. Or you can rename the package and the par file to create a new one and create a new framework page without changing the default one.
    This <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/1324">weblog</a> will also help you.
    Hope this helps.

  • Placeholder not visible in custom page layout - publishing site

    Hi,
    I have a custom page layout in publishing site.
    I had added a new textbox to the existing page layout as below:
    <tr id="trCustomContent2">
    <td id="tdCustomContent" style="padding-top:5px;">
    <div id="divCustomContent" style="padding-left:6px !important;vertical-align:top; width:450px;" >
    <h3>
    <PageFieldTextField:TextField ID="TextField1" FieldName="fec9f0d3-77a3-4afc-99d3-99d2cb745d2c" runat="server" >
    </PageFieldTextField:TextField></h3>
    </div>
    </td>
    </tr>
    I deployed the changes, but in the edit mode of the page, i am not able to see the page layout.
    This issue is happening when a subsite is created. For the existing sites, the textbox is getting shown.
    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi Venkatzeus,
    For each page layout, it has associated with a content type.
    You can click into the content type in site content types under Web Designer Galleries in root site settings.
    And then click Add from new site column to create and add the new site column to this content type.
    After that you can add this column to the page layout(.aspx page for the page layout) with the code below(you need to change the fieldname value to the corresponding GUID of the column):
    <div>
    <Publishing:EditModePanel runat="server" CssClass="edit-mode-panel">
    <PageFieldTextField:TextField ID="TextField1" FieldName="6bf50814-27d1-4b36-9980-c702c25080d7" runat="server">
    </PageFieldTextField:TextField>
    </Publishing:EditModePanel>
    </div>
    Best regards.
