(2) odd behaviors - Bookmarks R Toast & phone lock up
I've owned a Palm Pre Plus for 6 weeks. At week 3 all default and any added Bookmarks were smoked.
Prior to losing the bookmarks the phone locked up while in idle use.
Since that time, almost daily lockups of the phone occur. I press reset button, wait for boot process to complete and I'm back in business less the bookmarks which appear to have been eliminated.
1) What is causing this device to lockup? There's no pattern I've been able to isolate leading up to the lockup and it's random; and bad bad bad behavior to endure out of a high end mobile device.
2) What influences bookmarks getting smoked? Furthermore, saving a bookmark is now not possible. I'm forced to type in mobile driven URL's to navigate the web. This too is just bad and very disturbing.
Otherwise, I'm digging on this device but remain very concerned at this early point in time of our relationship with one another.
Phone is affixed to ATT service.

Hello and welcome to the forums;
As far as the 'why's go, unfortunately, I cannot answer that at this time, however I can suggest something to enable you to save bookmarks again.
Go to Device Info, scroll to the bottom, choose Reset Options, and tap Erase Apps & Data. Once you sign back into your profile, your personal data will reload, and you should be able to use bookmarks again.

Odd Behavior with Multi-page Forums
I have observed an odd behavior, when navigating multi-page forums.
As an example, I use the Premiere Elements Tips & Tricks sub-forum often, to link to helpful articles. It is, like most, a multi-page forum.
As the order of the articles will change, as new replies are added, I often need to navigate to multiple pages, to find the one that I need. My bookmark opens that forum onto Page 1, which is normal. I then scroll that page, looking for what I want. If it is not there, I will use either the Next, or the Page 2 buttons to move on. As I have scrolled to the bottom of Page 1, the Next (or Page 2) page will open at the bottom, rather than at the top, the first time that I do this. Pages 3, and above, will always open at the top. Also, if I go back to Page 2, it now opens at the top. I only see this, when going from Page 1, to Page 2, and then, only the first time. Odd, but no deal breaker, as I just manually scroll back to the top of Page 2, and then scroll down, looking for a particular article.
I am on Chrome and Win XP-Pro SP-3. I have not yet tried in IE 7 - my latest version.
Has anyone else experienced this little anomaly?

Thank you for the input. I just found it slightly odd behavior, and all that it means is a bit of scrolling, now that I know what to expect. In most cases, the average user probably does not go to Page 2 of a forum, but many of us do. If it becomes a pain, I'll just jump quickly to Page 3, and then back to Page 2.

i took a k800i from my colleague. with his sim card it start fine. with my sim card, the phone asks for the tekephone pin.
but he never (at least he doesn´t remember at all) set the phone pin. however, the pin is neither 0000 nor 1234 as suggested in the forum.
can somebody of you explain this behavior? where to reset this code. does the reseting require the old pin (which nobody remembers) to be input?
is it possible that the phone pin is automatically set to the sim pin or the pc suite pin or what ever.
thx for a support & cheersThen it sounds like a phone lock pin, which is normally 0000, but since you already tried this and 1234, you can also try 1111, or if you can put more digits in (up to six, I think), try 000000, 123456 and 111111.Otherwise, you need to take it to a service centre to get it unlocked.Strange that's it's only required with your SIM card though, and not your friends', which indicates that it could still be a problem associated with your SIM.

Odd behavior when using custom Composite/CompositeContext and antialiasing
Hi,
I created a custom Composite/CompositeContext class and when I use it with antialiasing it causes a black bar to appear. I seems it has nothing to do with the compose() code but just that fact that I set my own Composite object. The submitted code will show you what I mean. There are 3 check boxes 1) allows to use the custom Composite object, 2) allows to ignore the compose() code in the CompositeContext and 3) toggles the antialiasing flag in the rendering hints. When the antialiasing flag is set and the Composite object is used the bar appears regardless of if the compose() method is executed or not. If the Composite object is not used the bar goes away.
The Composite/CompositeContext class performs clipping and gradient paint using a Ellipse2D.Float instance.
a) When the Composite is not used the code does a rectangular fill.
b) When the Composite is used it should clip the rectangular fill to only the inside of a circle and do a gradient merge of background color and current color.
c) If the compose() method is ignored then only the background is painted.
d) When antialiasing is turned on the black bar appears, i) if you ignore the compose() method it remains, ii) if you do not use the Composite object the bar disappears (???)
NOTE: the compose method's code is only for illustration purposes, I know that AlphaComposite, clipping and/or Gradient paint can be used to do what the example does. What I am trying to find out is why the fact of simply using my Composite object with antialiasing will cause the odd behavior. Been trying to figure it out but haven't, any help is appreciated.

i carnt hear my message tone,the sound it makes when the phone locks and opens,also i am unable to hear music when playing from my phone but my ringtone and alarm tone work.Ive made sure the silent button is not on,and the volume button on the side of the phone is just showing it blank instead of it going up and down.To try and fix this i have reset my settings and restored my phone,but now its just skipping the music i have purchased from itunes when in a docking station which is now another problem i have as well.Can anyone help????

It sounds like even though the Mute switch is not on, sounds are not making the, well, sound they should, and the volume buttons make a blank volume indicator appear on the screen that does not show the volume level.
I wanted to recommend a couple of things.
First, I would reset the phone:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If that does not resolve the issue, then you may want to try backing up to iTunes, and restoring the iPhone again but this time do not restore the backup and set it up as new to see if the issue persists without the previous configuration.

I set up a passcode to ensure the security of my iPhone 5 but, when I enter it on the home screen, I repeatedly receive an error message and my phone locks. Is there a way to reset the passcode when I am unable to gain access to my phone?
I figured that was the case, but I've used the same passcode for years and I can't seem to figure out how I managed to screw it up when I set up my phone. Without being able to access my phone for a restore, how would I accomplish this? iTunes? Thank you very much for you help!

Phone locked up and other issues
I was having issues with my phone last night. Sync was a problem and I received several messages that sync for calendar and contacts could not be continued because phone was disconnected! Phone was not disconnected nor was the computer in sleep mode. I ejected the iphone from the itunes program reconnected and now itunes did not see it. Lucky I had taken a couple of pictures. Then iphoto launched and asked if I wanted to download pictures. Once I had then ituned came up and saw iphone once again. I once again tried to sync to no avail. phone locked up on removal- I called support- was on phone with support in about 10-15 mins. I was told that so much was going on with new devise that I should be patient and give it time to learn all imported information. Then when holding power button down did not work I was told to hold home button and power button down- viola it did a hard restart.
We keep going I went back to import and set setting to import what I wanted- songs- photos- movies- ipod web cast- addresses- and contacts. It went into import mode- everything looked good- it said import completed and them screen went black when I ejected from itunes the phone was sounding as if it was continuing to import on phone hard drive. Vibrating and syncing sound coming from phone. Phone did not respond to anything. No to power up, wake from sleep and another reset or hard reset only brought up apple screen and stopped. I was tired and went to bed. THis morning I got up to a screen that said low power, very thin line on battery image. I have let it charge now for two hours and I am back to battery that is 3/4 or a little more then fully charged. I have tried to import and it seems to be working.
After all I think I am up and running with music, contact, calendar, movies, tv and podcast imported. I have 8 gig and from what I choose to import I have a little over a gig and a half available. I want to play with wifi and web and all the functions but I am letting iphone fully charge up before I do. I am frustrated with what I have to refer to as crashes- feel think I am on my 840av computer with premiere video pushing to the max. till CRASH- I dont know if this has been issue with anyone but I feel the after 600 plus dollars and this out of the box I need some explaining!
On the other hand I switch from my blackberry and AT&T account in a matter of sec. with no issues.

My phone locked up while I was watching a video of Apple's website and I clicked the button on the earbud wire and it paused the video and started playing music. Then clicking it again, the screen froze. Holding down any one button did nothing, but I held down the top button and menu button and it rebooted the phone. Nothing was lost. -
PLEASE HELP!
My iMac 21" late -09, started acting a bit wierd a year ago. Things got worse rapidly, it got slower, the screen flickers/tears (see link below), short moments of lost internet connection, lost connection whit the keyboard (might be keyboard that is broken), almost overheats when gaming and odd behavior on some webbsites whit galleries and/or videos.
Let's begin whit the screen: it's not vertikal lines or major distortions, just a subtle horisontal line that "wanders" from bottom to topp and some lagging from time to time. Looks like this: http://cl.ly/3i2W2o3S1D2T
The wierd thing is that hi-res does not mean more "tearing". Yes the lagg and risk of tearing increases, but the connection seems to be: lots of movement=tearing. So a pixeld 240p video of people dancing can be way worse than a news debbate in1080p!?!
Lost connection whit internet and keyboard rarely happens and is probably due to something else, but thought that was good to have in mind.
Odd behavior: galleries ex: when browsing images on Facebook in fullscreen, the image sometimes jumps around in the beginning and when clicking on next the same picture might appear again or just nothing at all. When scrolling down overwiewing a gallery, the updating stops and you can't scroll down further. This problem appers mainly on FB, deviantart also acts a bit wierd but there is often small issues whit image sites. Doesn't help to switch browsers either!
Videos: Youtube is horrible to use, stops loading, dosen't start loading, erases everything loaded (grey bar disapears and reloads), refuse to switch ressolution and suddenly stops the video like it was done! "ehh.. wasn't this 2min long? Not anymore, now its 34sec!". Mainly a Youtube problem but many similar sites can be a bit problematic to use.
NO, it's not the HTML-5 problem or any standard flash issue and using a different browser dosen't help!
Worst is the fact that most of these errors are not constant! One day your watching youtube or mabey a movie in VLC, a bit laggy, but almost no problem. Next day **** brakes lose and after 2hours of struggling you are ready to stabb yourself in the face!
What i tried: Most easy buggfixes that might cause the above problems, updating most things, Switched from OS X SL to OS X ML, complete reinstall and some things i probably forgot by now. Then went to MacStore for repair, they didn't find anything wrong and said it worked fine after the standard diagnostic/repair program!?! Went home and everything was the same! Went a second time to MacStore, same result.
So I'v reinstalled a few times and it seems to improve the Mac. But 2-3weeks later every error is back, even if I barely installed or downloaded anything!?!
Any idea what this could be? Or is the graphic card broken and MacStore has a blind, inbred muppet as a technician?No I didn't. The first time i explained the problem thoroughly and thought that they just couldn't miss such a visual error. I was wrong. The second time the technician wasn't there so i showed the above clip to the salesstaff and explained everything onceagain. Later the technician called me and we talked for 10min.
Btw, the problems always "manifests themselves", just varies between strenght and frequence.
But all other issues aside, what could cause the tearing of the screen as seen int the above clip? -
My coverage is within 1 inch either way of Loosing 3g and 4g and phone locks up.
I have just gotten off the phone with their Corporate folks as they were not to impressed with me for filing a complaint with the FCC because of my coverage or should I say lack there of. From what she told me after all the legal mubo jumbo was that the coverage map which was not so well done is only a maybe for coverage as their are 3 little fine print exclusions on the WEB.
I conveyed to her that if you tell me I have 4g and 3g and I move my phone on my nightstand 1 inch either way I loose the 4g. If I move it the other way I lose 3g and the phone locks up till I go into airplane mode and and back out. According to her I am on the fringe of the signals and they are sharing their signal with anouther carrier. In other words tough roller skates. And then to have the audasity to charge me an extra $30.00 to change out the old home phone connect for the newer one that you can get an extended antenea for. Get rid of theold inventory and charge for the upgrade or switch and bait. I urge everyone to file with the FCC individually and hold Verizon to task, I told her I would continue to persue this with the FCC till my area was fixed.
I have a Rezound that is stock. Plus for some reason when I tried to log back into this site I have to unlock my Account as it had been locked for some reason. Wonder who would have done such a thing to me especially after a phone call from Verizon Corporate. ( HUMMMM )Hummmmm

My old desktop crashed. My new desktop has the most recent version of Firefox and the new sync feature. Unfortunately, none of my bookmarks from the old desktop/Firefox transferred to the new desktop. My android phone (GS3) and android tablet both still have all of my bookmarks, but I cannot get them to sync to the desktop. I have read (and reread) the instructions for opening new sync accounts for all devices, etc. so that they are all compatible and sync will work again. I am afraid that if I do that, I will lose all my bookmarks from my android devices, and then they will be lost forever, which defeats the whole purpose of setting up new sync accounts. Can you confirm that if I open new accounts on all devices that I will not lose my bookmarks from my phone and tablet, which now have the only record that I can access to recreate them all manually (god help me)on my desktop if that is my only alternative?

I have no idea why my iPhone5 suddenly will not move past the PW screen; a "voice" identifies each button touched (the Slide button, for example) or the PW buttons, and then ends with "screen locked" (not phone locked).

You have to tap, then double-tap to select the numbers to enter your passcode.
Then:
Press Home.
Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
Tap General. Then double-tap General.
Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off. -

I'm experiencing this odd behavior in LCDS 2.5, wich pertains
to variable naming for the objects returned by a DataService.fill()
call. I ceated a simple destination with a Java adapter. the Server
side Java data object is defined as follows)

On Flex side, the ActionScript value object is defined as
follows:

What I figured while debugging into the client was is the
data returned by the service (I'm using the mx:DataService call)
returns objects whose variable names
do not match my definition:
m_strObjectId becomes objectId
m_lSize becomes size
m_bIsValid becomes isValid
I wonder why that renaming??? Basically "m_str" prefix was
stripped and capital "O" became lower case "o" for my first
variable etc.
For instance, in a datagrid cell renderer I could not
reference the returned value as {data.m_strObjectId}, but if I use
{data.objectId}, it works.
Any ideas why this behavior (which I found confusing and odd)
would be greately appreciated.
RobertThe latter, as "getM_strObjectId " is an ugly name... don't
tell me that causes issue...ok kidding, I got you. The
setter/getter names are important in this context.

You'll have to wipe it out and restore from backup to recover, that'll reset the code but you'll lose any data since your last sync.

PDF created with Onenote not viewing properly with reader XI
A PDF was created by Onenote export to PDF. The screen clippings are gray boxes. When viewed with the preinstalled (MS ?) reader app it views normal. I am using Adobe Reader XI, Windows 8.1, Onenote 2013.
