2 routers on the same network

I have installed 2 Linksys routers type WRT160N and a WRT160Nv3. Both ar DHCP installed, channels are 1 & 10, IP adresses are divided so Linksys 1: 192.168.1.1 - 149 and Linksys 2 :192.168.1.150 - 200. If anybody have another idea please come forward. Many thanks in advance.

You are trying to cascade routers. There are 2 ways to cascade routers: LAN to WAN and LAN to LAN.
LAN to WAN is connecting the LAN connection of the Router 1 to the WAN port of the Router 2. [Use this if you want the computers to be on 2 different networks.]
LAN to LAN is connecting the LAN connection to one of the LAN ports of the Router 2. [Use this method if you want the computers to be on the same network]
The complete steps on how to do this is explained in this article, click here.

  • Is It Possible To Run 2 Routers At The Same Time.

This might be the dumbest question of all time but I am not computer savy. My two wireless PCs operate beautifully on my Linksys WRT54G. If, when I get the MacBook Pro, and for some strange reason I have connection proglems, can I get one of the airports and set it up just for the Mac. Read all sorts of problems of PCs not connecting to the Airports properly. I might be overly concerned but I don't have an Apple Store near me. I am driving 200 miles to Charlotte to justr try out and buy the Mac.

You can put two routers on the same network, but you have to set them up correctly. You can put one of them in bridge mode, which means it will just act as an access point for the primary router, but won't do any routing itself. The second way is to set up a double NAT, with one router handling the Internet connection to the outside world and the second router handling the local network.

  • Can I use 2 Actiontec FIOS routers in the same house in a single network?

I currently have my FIOS Actiontec router in the top level of my 2 story house. I want to be able to have a wired ethernet connection to the PS3 and Computer that it is in the basement. Unfortunately, there is no way to route an ethernet cable from the top level to the basement. There are a lot of "outside" Wi-Fi signal that create inteference, so I don't want to use a Wi-Fi connection.
Can I buy a second Actiontec router and connect it using the Coaxial cable available in the basement to connect the PS3 and Computer via Ethernet cable using the LAN ports in the Actiontec router, while keeping everything in the same network?
Will I still get 25/25 speeds?
I bought a Netgear MoCA adapter but the speeds were horrible (10/2) and it didn't work very well.
    The setup would be:
Top Level:  Actiontec Router connected via Coaxial and connecting 3 computers via Ethernet
Basement: Second Actiontec router connected via Coaxial conecting the PS3 and another computer via Ethernet.
    Thanks

MOCA should run at north of 200mbps, so if you are getting much less than that, something is wrong.
I would try re-seating the coax at the splitters, and possible replacing the coax connectors on the cables, or at least cleaning them up.  Make sure that the splitters in use are bi-directional and good to at least 1 Ghz.
If the connection to the basement wasn't there when the FiOS service as installed, it might be on an old splitter left over from Cable or Sat days. FiOS places the MOCA signal at frequencies well above those normally used for Cable and Sat service, so splitters left over from those installations may not work acceptably. In addition if the cable going to the basement is from a previous installation, it may not be in the best condition, or especially suitable for FiOS, and you might try replacing it with new cable. Coaxial Cable has a finite life.
If all else fails, you might consider Powerline Ethernet adapters. These transmit Ethernet over the powerlines in the house, and can usually provide 80mbps or so bandwidth, which is probably more than your FiOS connection is good for. They basically allow you to relocate ports from the router to just about anywhere else in the house where there is an electric outlet.

My MacBook Pro, running 10.7.3, does not recognize when my iPhone and iPad are on the same network, thus it does not synch.  Any ideas?

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • NETWORK MAGIC UNABLE TO SEE OTHER COMPUTERS WITH NM IN THE SAME NETWORK MAP

I have two computers, one desktop (iMac OS X/Win 7 x64 bootcamp) wired connected and one PC laptop wireless connected in the same network through Linksys WAG320N, both running Network Magic ver. 5.5.9195.0-Pure0 (11.2.9195.1  12/13/2011) with the exactly same firewall settings allowing Pure Networks Platform Service to runs in Private and Public networks. The problem is that the both machines don’t see each other with Network Magic installed and therefore valuable features as screen shots or network speed test are not available. I already uninstalled NM in both equipments and reinstalled it, but the issue persists.
Anyone facing this same issue or have a clue on how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Vertigo

As Barney-15E has suggested, this looks very much like 2 routers, and some systems talking to router A and some systems talking to router B.
Bonjour protocols will NOT cross a router boundary, so systems on router A will only see other systems on router A, and systems on router B will only see systems on router B.
The recommented network setup is to make the router connected to the broadband connection be the ONLY router in the home and configure all other routers so they are in "Bridge" mode. That is to say, the other routers are configured so they just extend the primary router's subnet.
How a home router is put into bridge mode is different depending on the make and model of router.
In your case, I think the Belkin should be the primary router, and you should put the Time Capsule into "Bridge" mode. Applications -> Utilities -> Airport Utility -> Time Capsule -> Internet -> Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode).
Once you put the Time Capsule in bridge mode, all your systems should be on the same Belkin subnet, and now Bonjour will see all the Macs in your home.

  • Should airport express be configured with the same network as my existing router

Should airport express be configured with the same network name as my Verizon router.

A router signal can not be boosted as all routers put out the maximum allowed by law.  However, proper placement of a secondary router will enable it to "repeat" or extend the signal.
An Airport can "extend" the WiFi created by another Airport.  It can not extend a non-Apple WiFi.  You need TWO Airport units, one to function as the main radio and the other to function as an extender.  I used two Express units.
Configuration is simple if you start from a factory default condition.  Connect the main Airport to AC power and finally to the Internet modem (or modem/router).  Open Airport Utility on your Mac or other computer and accept all of the recommendations.  After confirming that it works, insert your desired administrative and WiFi passwords.
Then connect the extender to AC power.  As before, open Airport Utility on your Mac or other computer and accept all of the recommendations.  No need to add password info.
Do not expect the Airport to respond instantly to the configuration commands.  BE PATIENT!

  • Have Cisco E4200 and E2000 - want them both working on the same network...

I have a cable modem.  My Cisco E4200 is connected to the cable modem and is my DHCP server for the house.   But, the E4200 wireless does not reach to another part of my house.  So, I bought an E2000 to connect on the network.  The E4200 and E2000 are both routers and have the same default 192.168.1.1 address.   I've tried to turn off DHCP server on the E2000 but I then I can't connect to it.
What are the steps to set up the E2000 so that is does not conflict with the E4200, is not a DHCP server, and will work with the E4200 on the same network.  I've tried the Setup, Connect and also advanced settings via a browser - but I must be missing a step somewhere.
Is there a document that shows how to set these two up so that one is a DHCP server and the other is an "access point"?

follow the instructions in this link.
they must be wired to each other though. they cannot connect to each other via a wireless connection.

  • Multiple Users Mounting the Same Network Share?

    Hello, first time posting...
I'll cut right to my main question: Is it possible, on OS X v10.3.9, for multiple users to simultaneously connect to the same network share?
Here in my office, we have a single Mac that is used by multiple people throughout the day. It has two accounts on it, 'Communications' and 'Studio'. 'Communications' is an Admin account that is used by a co-worker who spends the most time on the Mac. He created the no-limitation 'Studio' account for the rest of us to use.
There is a certain Windows network share that we both frequently use. We've found that if one user connects to the share first, the other user will not have access to it; using 'Go -> Connect to Server' will result in the share being greyed out in the list, and the share will not show up in the Finder.
However, there is one way around it. If Studio connects to the share first and then Communications (the admin account) attempts to make a connection of it's own *through a shortcut on the dock*, then a 'clone' of the share will be created on Comm's desktop, with a "-1" after the name (though it might be some other number).
This may sound like I've answered my own question, but what I'm looking for is a way for the non-Admin account to access the share after the Admin account already has (so that we don't have to log-in and disconnect Communications everytime Studio needs to manage files on the share).
We have Thursby Software's DAVE installed on the Mac, but I'm not sure how it fits into all this.
    Any thoughts, suggestions or advice?
    Thanks.

Bizarre. It turned out I could merge them, but only in to the mapped drive - L: - and only by explicitly clicking on the drive icon - if I typed L:\series in to dialog box it converted it back to \\nas\share\series... Not helpful.

Migration Assistant has been running since yesterday evening.  My Dell is now telling me that its trying to reconnect to my Mac and to ensure they are both using the same network.  I have an Ethernet cable plugged in them and they are both on the same WiFi.  What can I do?

    Hello Wyodor,
thanks for your reply on my question.
You are wright the index file is 308 KB.
And offcourse that I delete my files and documents is not an Iweb problem, but because my English is not that good, that I thougt I try to tell the whole story, and hope people can read trough the lines.
Why I didn't use Iweb to upload to the server is because the server company recommanded to use file zilla. And I am a nobody with this kind of things, so I did exactly what they tell me to do.
No, i did not make a backup of Iweb and the domain file, but reading other messages on this forum showed me that I can maybe try to make empty the cashfile (?)
and otherwise I have bad luck and have to make my website again. Offcourse I have a lot of examples from all the pages (copied from the local map to my USB stick) and my website is aprox. 15 Mb, (not so big) so it will cost me a few nigths.
But I'm still hoping on a miracle :-)
    greetings Lasource

  • HP Envy 5530 - computer won't recognize that the printer is on the same network

    Product Name: HP ENVY 5530
    OS: Windows 8.1
No changes made to system before issue occured
I bought this wireless printer last week (5-13-14). I have a working printer that was connected to my husband's work laptop via USB cable, but needed one to connect to our family computer, which is in a different room with the modem/router. My husband travels for work, so I want to be able to print without disturbing him and while he is away on business. I turned the printer on and connected it to my network with the password and printed out the network settings and the wireless report. There are about 8 other wireless networks in range of my printer (we're in a residential neighborhood), but we aren't having a problem with it connecting to someone elses stuff. I went online to download the driver software and it downloaded fine. I clicked on the desktop icon to launch the control panel for the printer and it opened up for me to install the printer. I went through every step and it won't recognize the IP address or the name of the printer, and therefore won't open up for me to do any scanning. Both the printer and PC are connected to the same network, but they won't recognize each other when it comes to going through the HP software to scan or print. I can go into word or something to print and it will let me print wirelessly, but it won't do anything from the control panel of the print software because it thinks the printer hasn't been installed. I've had Windows 8 on this computer since I bought it in 2012, but I have the computer defaulted to go to my desktop instead of the start screen, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I am going to go ahead and remove the device and uninstall everything so I can try again later. If I had known this was going to be a problem, I would have not bought the printer and just kept on doing what we'd been doing.

    Hello SarahD_07,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are having some troubles getting the Envy 5530 printing wireless on Windows 8.1. Are you able to take the I.P address of the 5530, type it into the address bar of your web browser and hit enter. Does it load a page about the printer?
Run the Print and Scan Dr to see if it can clear up the scanning issues if you can view that above page.
I will look out for your reply,

  • My ipad with retina display can't find my epson artisan 730 wireless printer. They are on the same network and printer's wireless connection is excellent. What are the steps to fix this?

My imac won't pick up the printer either. Even after I updated it's software.  My ipad is new.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

No change. The printer still doesn't show up on my devices even though they are all on the same network.  On the printer's connection print out the connection reads Pass and that the network is working correctly.  However, then it states "*A router/access point channel conflict has been detected. If you have problems printing or scanning, Improve your wireless network environment." "*If the problems persist, see your documentation for help and networking tips."
I've gone through all the documentation and still can't figure out what the problem is.  I've had the router checked out by my building and they claim everything is in order.  I have a excellent signal.

  • Issue to send email (using sp_send_dbmail) with an attachement located in other server within the same network

I have two servers. One is for databases (DB) with the mail server configured and the other is for SSIS without mail server. Both servers are in the same network. On the SSIS server the SSIS package exports data from the DB server table
to xls file. The file is saved in SSIS server. When I created a task to send the email (using sp_send_dbmail) to attach that file, I got the error message:
Error: Executing the query "EXECUTE [msdb].[dbo].[sp_send_dbmail]
@profile_na..." failed with the following error: "Attachment file H:\test.xls is invalid.".
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
A Fan of SSIS, SSRS and SSAS

    Where are you running this?
If its in the other server (DB) you need to use UNC path to the SSIS server folder where file resides
Also the executing account should have access to the folder as well as the file. So If you're running this from a job make sure you either provider folder and file access to sql agent job service account or create a separate proxy account with the required
permissions and configure the job to use the account

  • Homeshare worked on my PC until recent iTunes update. Cannot get homeshare to work on PC as previous.  When I use my MacBook Pro on the same network, iTunes/AppleTV works just fine, so it has to be iTunes?

An interesting observation...when I have a MacBook Pro connected and select Computers on my AppleTV2, the name of the MacBook computer comes up on the screen and allows me to select it and view photos from my iTunes library. Orks perfectly. When my Windows 8 PC is connected, and I select Computers on my AppleTV, the name of the PC does NOT come up on the computer list, but instead the AppleTV immediately tries to download pictures from the PC itunes library.  It runs for ~2 minutes then generates an error message saying it could not connect to the iTunes library and to make sure it is tunrned on, connect to the same network, and use the same blah, blah, blah.  I know all the settigns on the network are correct because my MacBook works perfecty.  So frustrating that my PC worked previously before the recent iTunes software update.  What to do to fix it?

    Hi Rickgal,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Based on the information, it does sound like this behavior is isolated to your PC. I recommend trying the troubleshooting steps in this article on your PC:
    Troubleshooting Home Sharing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2972
Start with turning Home Sharing off and on again, as explained in step 3:
Go to File > Home Sharing and choose Turn Off Home Sharing.
Choose File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID you'd like to use.
Click Turn On Home Sharing, then Done.

  • How can I share itunes content between 2 macs (both mine) in 2 different locations? Same Apple ID, same account, not the same network.

I haev a main mac at my main home which syncs itunes to my ipad and iphone with no problem. I want to access the same itunes content at my mac in my second home which is obviously on a different network. I have my ipad and iphone with me so they can be on the same network as the second mac. I can share the purchased itunes content but not the uploaded content. Any ideas?

Ok well that is not uploaded content. Maybe ripped content is a better term.
You can transfer purchased content from your iOS devices into the new Mac if you want.
