2 X Complete networks conncted with ethernet on firewall?

I have 2 separate networks operating with their own firewalls, internet connection and servers each in its own subnet on the inside.
I have been tasked to inter connect these networks to communicate with each other by inter connecting the firewalls (1 X ASA5510 and 1 X Lucent) with an Ethernet connection / network cable on each firewall.
What is considered the best way, DMZ interface on both, interconnecting?
Any Ideas?

Hello;
On the router, you can put a host route for the IP address 63.x.x.x pointing to the 212 address of the ASA? I believe that is what you are missing.
Configuration example.
ASA nat (inside,outside) source static 10.2.4.2 63.1.1.2
On the router:
ip route 63.1.1.2 255.255.255.255 212.1.1.2 (assuming 1.2 is the firewall)
That would do the trick.

  • Tcpip.sys related BSOD in Vista at either wifi/ ethernet network connection with my university

    Dear all,
    laptop:: Lenovo X61s 3G L7700
OS version: windows Vista business Sp1
    tcpip.sys version: 6.0.6001.22167
wifi: Intel 4965AGN. Standard Gigabyte intel ethernet 82566MM
system drivers and BIOS are the most updated driver.
At my 2 homes using ADSL routers, there are absolutely no problems with network connection by wifi or ethernet. However, blue screen occurs when I bring this laptop to university and connect to the network via either ethernet or wifi. This happened to me a few months back. It crashed EVERY TIME when a network connection was attempted. It did not matter whether I updated my drivers on both wifi or ethernet cards. Whenever I bring it to either of my2 homes, no blue screen ever occurs.
It also happens when I attempt to connect to free wifi network in the airport. It crashes again with EXACTLY the same problem. I have to admit that I do not even where to start looking for the problems. System restore did not solve this either. I ran the WinBug analysis. It pointed towards tcpip.sys. My sys ver is at the top of this message.
Would appreciate if someone can point this to the right direction. I am seriously thinking of downgrading this to XP, since it had NEVER happened to XP.
    thanks,
    VIncent

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault).  The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
            use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

    Per my original post:
"When my ATV is connected via ethernet, and I attempt to play some internet radio stations, some will work just fine while others won't.  For example, when connected to my home network via ethernet, some internet radio channels (I can't give a percentage because I haven't tested all of them) will play just fine, however, others won't.  The ATV will attempt to connect, but the spinning progress bar just goes and goes and goes until it eventually errors out (no error number is provided, it just says that there was trouble loading the content).  The funny thing (or not so funny thing actually) is that if I unplug the ethernet cable, and connect my ATV to the network via wifi, those same stations that didn't play when ATV was connected via ethernet, WILL play when ATV is connected via wifi.  So, in short, some stations play just fine when ATV is connected to home network, through wireless router, via either wifi OR ethernet, yet some will only play when ATV is connected to home network via wifi.  I have found this to be the same when it comes to downloading or refreshing the photos in my photo stream.  If I throw new photos in my photo stream on iCloud, and the ATV is connected via ethernet, they won't refresh to the ATV, however, if I unplug the ATV and connect via wifi they begin to refresh."
There are dozens of original threads out there that report of similar - if not exact, issues.  I have contacted "Roy" per his request and not heard back from him (if such a person exists).  I have "restored" my ATV and rebooted all equipment to no avail.  Until Apple gets with it, acknowledges their problem, and fixes it, I am resigned to just having to deal with switching back and forth from wifi to ethernet, and so on.

  • Ethernet network issues with Maverick OS X

I have a home network utilising a Ethernet switch and a Wireless/Ethernet Router. On this network I have a Imac using Maverick, and a Macbook using the older Lion OS. Since I have upgraded my IMac to Maverick, I have had non stop problems with the Ethernet connection to the Internet and the connection to my "WD MyBookLiveDuo" external network drive.
My Ethernet connection intermittently drops out on a regular basis. My wireless connection still works however. Sometimes the Ethernet connection works for a while, then does not. I have manually inserted a IP address on the Imac, in the network settings, and The intermittent problem still persists. When the connection is lost, the network settings still says that the ethernet is connected. I do not have this problem with OS Lion on my Macbook Pro which is connected to the same network. I am reluctant to wipe the Imac and "roll back" to OS Lion. I am seeing a lot of posts out there by people experiencing the same problems with OS Maverick. Is Apple working to fix this?
    <Edited by Host>

No.  The problem will have to be resovled by Western Digital.   Many Western Digital drives have their own firmware which will need to be upgraded to meet standard.   Better would be to get a hard drive from http://www.macsales.com/ which makes every effort to maintain Mac compatible hard drives.

  • Is it possible to extend AP Extreme's both main and guest networks by connecting one or two new dual band AP express in roaming mode (connecting with ethernet)?

I have an Airport extreme base station which creates a wireless network and a guest network at my home. Neither of them reach every room so I have set up one Airport express (1st generation A1264) in roaming mode to extend the main wireless network by connecting the base stations with ethernet (with powerline adapters actually). Works fine with the main network. However, I would like to extend also the guest network. Is this possible with a 2nd generation dual band AP express?

I would like to extend also the guest network. Is this possible with a 2nd generation dual band AP express?
Yes it is, if you have updated your Mac to use AirPort Utility 6.2 and both the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express have been updated to use version 7.6.3 firmware.

  • L7680 - networking with ethernet problems

All right, Is the L7680 a wireless printer?  I used to think it was, now I'm not that sure.  This is what I have and what I am looking to do.  I have a D-link router that is all set up for wireless.  I have 1 laptop, and ethernet cords going out to my shop, and in my office.  I used to connect with ethernet cords, not wireless.  Now that I am set up wireless internet, I would like to set up wireless printing.  I have to bring my laptop into the office if I want to pring anything.
Heres is what I'd like to do.  I'd either like for the printer to be wireless, and not have to deal with the cords.  or at the very least would it be possible to hook the 1 end of the ethernet to the laptop while out in the shop, and the other end to the d-link.  all while connecting a cord from the d-link to the printer ethernet port?

    hello,
this printer is not wireless capable.
connect this printer using ethernet cable to your router.
your laptop can be wirelessly connected to your router.
    that is the setup.
    keep me informed..

  • How can I create a new TC backup with ethernet, so I don't have to wait two days for a new wireless backup?

How can I create a new TC backup with ethernet, so I don't have to wait two days for a new wireless backup?
Several times in the last year, I've gotten a message that Time Machine needs to completely redo my backup. Using the wireless connection, this takes almost two days. Is there a way to do the backup with ethernet and then switch back to wireless? Thanks.

May I know what is needed to make sure the MacBook is able to see Time Capsule on ethernet?
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the 2Wire gateway to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the Time Capsule.
If AirPort Utility cannot "see" the Time Capsule now, you will need to perform a "hard reset" by holding in the reset button for 7-8 seconds or so and then reconfigure the Time Capsule. You can use the same Time Capsule name and password, etc. as before.
Configure the Time Capsule to "Create a wireless network" and select the Bridge Mode option when it appears during the setup using AirPort Utility.
Once the Time Capsule is configured, restart the entire network again. Power down everything, start the 2Wire first and then start each other device after that one at a time about a minute apart.
Now you can connect your Mac directly to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule for the backup using another Ethernet cable. In general, about 20-25 GB per hour will transfer.
The Time Capsule will broadcast a much faster wireless network than the 2Wire can provide, so you might want to leave the setup "as is" for awhile after the first backup is complete. If you decide to use the Time Capsule as your main wireless access point, you would want to turn the wireless off on the 2Wire since two wireless networks in close proximity can create interference problems.
Or, if you want to use the wireless on the 2Wire, you could turn off the wireless on the Time Capsule. Then backups will occur over the 2Wire wireless, or over Ethernet.
I don't really recommend the "Join a wireless network" setting on the Time Capsule for most users, but you could go back to that setup as well if you want after the first backup is complete.

  • Time out of Time Capsule - even with Ethernet

My 500G Time Capsule since yesterday evening refuses to work for longer than a few minutes, which is far too little for any backup.
The problem first was seen when I used it with WiFi. I then connected the TC directly with ethernet to my MacBook. Initiated a backup. After some time, it refuses to respond any more.
Click on the TC icon in the Finder column view, and nothing comes up.
Try cd /Volumes/tcapsule in the Terminal, and the terminal window freezes.
Open the TC preferences and System Preferences freeze.
I tried resetting the TC with a paper clip.
I tried restarting the TC. After that, it works for a few more minutes, before it freezes again.
I tried removing the file com.apple.TimeMachine.plist.
I tried restarting the Mac umpteen times. It usually freezes as well when the TC is frozen.
I used Disk Utility to repair the Mac's harddisk.
I used Disk Utility to try to repair the image on the TC, dragging its icon to Disk Utility. However, it gives up - probably when the TC times out.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do in addition to those things, while keeping the old backups on the TC? I would prefer not to reformat the TC.
A new backup to third party Lacie HD worked fine, so I guess the Mac is ok, and the problem really is with the TC.

go system preferences > time machine and turn TM off. click on +change disk+ and select none.
    next, delete this file HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist.
restart your machine, go system preferences > time machine and turn TM back on. click on +change disk+, re-select your backup volume und click +use for backups+.
Yep, that's pretty much what I did, as described in my initial post. I actually followed your exact steps again, but not luck.
download and install Time Machine Buddy if you don't have it already. start a backup and see what TM buddy reports.
Done that too, but the errors do not help me very much. A typical session may look like this:
    Starting standard backup
Network destination already mounted at: /Volumes/tcapsule
    Disk image /Volumes/tcapsule/Magnus Lewan’s MacBook_002332b4fbc4.sparsebundle mounted at: /Volumes/Backup of Magnus Lewan’s MacBook
Backing up to: /Volumes/Backup of Magnus Lewan’s MacBook/Backups.backupdb
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: blanco
    Node requires deep traversal:/ reason:must scan subdirs|new event db|
No pre-backup thinning needed: 23.55 GB requested (including padding), 24.83 GB available
Waiting for index to be ready (100)
    And then nothing more.
The last one was somewhat more descriptive, but still no reason why things fail, and of course no suggested remedy:
    Starting standard backup
Network destination already mounted at: /Volumes/tcapsule
Error while checking destination cookies: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=260 UserInfo=0x100120690 "The file “.002332b4fbc4” couldn’t be opened because there is no such file." Creating disk image /Volumes/tcapsule/blanko.sparsebundle
Error 22 creating backup disk image
    Failed to create disk image
    Backup failed with error: 20
It seems to first fail to read the previous sparsebundle and then it tries to create a new one. This may fail because the disk is full, but it should be able to open the previous one.

  • How can I use my time capsule with Ethernet cable? How is it also possible to use time capsule as a normal external hard drive?

My problem is that I don't know how to use my Time Capsule with Ethernet Cable, as when I use wireless it is really slow.

Make sure that there is an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your modem/wireless router to the WAN port on the Time Capsule
Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the page
Change the setting for Wireless Mode to Off (I assume that you do not want the Time Capsule to provide a wireless network since you already have a wireless network)
Next, click the Internet icon at the top of the screen, then click the Internet Connection tab
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click the Update button at the bottom and wait 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart and display a green light
Then, you must power off your entire network...all devices....in any order that you want
    Wait a minute
Start your modem/router first and let it run a minute
Start the Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time until everything is powered up
If you are using Time Machine for backups, you will need to reset the connection because you have changed the way in which the Time Capsule connects to your network
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
    Open Time Machine
    Click Select Disk
Click the Time Capsule to highlight it
Click Use for Backup or, it might be Use Disk
Now you can connect your Mac using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to back up using Ethernet. Be sure to turn off the wireless on your Mac before you start the backup.
If you want to backup using wireless, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Mac to the Time Capsule and turn on the wireless and connect to your wireless network. Your computer will now backup using wireless.

  • How to configure Time Capsule etc as a local network server with remote access server and for backups

I'm trying to set up new 3TB Time Capsule as a wireless network server (with remote access) and for backups for use in a small office (of two Macs). We have a late 2011 Intel MBP and a brand new MBA both running 10.8.3. We have two external 1TB hard drives that until now have been attached the MBP for storage and backing up that computer, which up until now was the only machine in use. The MBA is for a new employee and we need to share and work on the same files, both here in the office and ideally remotely too via Back to my Mac. The MBP needs constant access. The MBA only occasional. The TC has 7.6.3 firmware and we've set it up using AirPort Utility 6.2. It is currently attached to the MBP via ethernet and it has internet access via a Sagemcom router attached to TC's WAN port.
We've managed to set up a wireless network and both have wireless internet access through the TC
But there are so many issues I don't know where to begin - so I'll start with a description of what we're trying to achieve:
I planned to use the TC as the main server drive and place all the key folders and files there so that both of us can access them wirelessly and remotely. The MBP would back up to the TC and to one or two of the external hard drives - one being attached to the Mac via USB and the other being attached to the TC's USB port. We would back up the important data on the TC using SuperDuper and copy it to both external USB drives.
So , first of all, is that a sensible configuration? Should the 'server' be the one of the external hard drives attached to the TC USB port, backed up regularly to the TC using SuperDuper?

But when you say 'So using USB drive does make sense if you want to use it as a file store', do you mean a USB drive plugged into the TC? I hope that I can attach an external drive to the TC so we can all access and read/write the content wirelessly via the TC network or remotely.
Yes, USB.. as it prevents the sparsebundle mixing with data files. I guess it does depend on how much data you are talking about.. you can use the TC internal disk if you are careful and setup the sparsebundle with fixed sizes once you create them..
And to be clear, I wasn't planning on backing up remotely via BTMM - only to access the shared folders on the TC data drive or USB external drive attached to it. I'm assuming that's ok?
Yes, that is fine. Sorry I got the impression you were going to do backup over internet.
What is the alternative? Having a Mac Mini that's always on? Do I need OS X Server etc.?
A mini would be great.. you don't need server edition.. but I would see how the TC goes.. since you have it and it is much lower power consumption device. It is just that its design is not really for file storage.
One big problem I have is to do with the sharing permissions. For everything on the TC or attached external drive attached to it, it says I have only custom access and every time I try to change permissions it says I don't have the permission to do that. And if I try to change the owner it says my user name is not valid.
How is the security setup on the TC?
The security is a bit tricky.. I must admit since I run windows computer in the network, that I simply turn on the guest account to read and write access. For a business setup that might not be adequate  but it allows me full access to all the files.
If you setup the TC with user accounts then you are in trouble. That makes it very difficult to access, especially if one person already has the file open you may find a second user cannot login. I am not sure as I have avoided the security. IMHO it is meaningless.. since anyone with physical access to the TC can press the reset for one second and has full access.. and can add or change passwords.

help connecting Apple TV to router with ethernet cable

The process is transparent. I have done it before.
Now, it gives me an error message when I try Wi-Fi:

When I try the ethernet cable connection it won't let me do automatic or custom.
I unplugged and replugged the Apple TV box but don't know how else to trouble shoot the lack of connectivity.

  • AE Works with Ethernet Cable, but not Wirelessly. Please Help!!

I purchased the AE to run music streams via Airtunes from my wireless router/PC upstairs to my stereo downstairs. When I hook everything up upstairs with the ethernet cable, everything works like a charm, but the moment I remove the ethernet cable, the AE is not being picked up by the network. I set everything up for the wireless network (while the ethernet cable was hooked up) and have a green light on the AE, but when I try to use it wirelessly, it is blinking amber and not appearing within AirPort Utlity (only when hooked up with ethernet). I have a Westell 327W Wireless Modem/Router and could use some advice as to what I am doing wrong to get some tunes downstairs.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi:
I was chasing this very topic for a long while, then took a break.
You are suppose to be able to stream music from your PC to external stereo speakers via iTunes, thru an Airport Express (AE) wirelees connection.
    Here's my status:
It is pretty easy to get a wireless connection up & running so that you can play music from your laptop/pc to external wirelss speakers via iTunes, thru AE.
I have that up & running. The problem comes in when trying to add the Airport Express to an already existing Linksys router's wireless network. When setting
the AE up, you'll most likely get 4 error messages that have to be addressed before you go from from a flashing amber LED to a solid green LED. If you are just using Apple's ad-hoc wireless conncetion, you'll need to use Airport Utility to address the 4 issues. Basically, Airport Utility doesn't know how to address AE, since it doesn't have any IP address to a network. The other 3 are simlar problems. If you just tell Aiport Utility to ignore each of these problems, you will get the solid green LED on AE, and you'll be able to stream music directly from your PC to your speakers, wirelessly, once you finish the AE configuartion, and Airport Utility reconfigures the AE.
I have my HP laptop and printer setup with a Linksys 54G Router and Printserver,
so that the laptop and printer communicate wirelssly via the Linksys Router.
Now comes the fun...trying to add the AE to this already existing wireless network. I could get the AE to work when I had an Ethernet cable connected directly from a port on the router to the AE, but when I disconnected the Ethernet cable, the router no longer saw the AE in the network. I followed all of the instructions in the Airport Utility software, went seeking advice on this
newsgroup, the web, etc. Found lots of good information, but a lot of it was outdated.
I have my Linksys wirless network setup with WEP-64 encryption.
From what I have gathered, it is much easeir to add the AE to a WPA/WPA2 network, than to a WEP64/128 network, just because of newer protocols.
The problem that I have is that WPA encryption works much slower for me than
WEP encryption. Example: iTunes is roughly 60 MB is size. Downloading it
using WPA, results is a download time of 22-23 minutes; where a download
    using WEP-64 takes 75-80 seconds !
In the past, what I was trying to do was add the AE to my already existing
wireless network. Now, I have a wireless network for the AE. I want to try to add this network to my already existing wireless netowrk for the Linksys router.
I just haven't taken the time to try it yet. From what Apple tells me, Linksys makes this setup messy. The fact that the AE works by itself proves that the
    device is OK.
For a history of the problems that I have been chasing in trying to get the AE setup and added to my already existing Linksys router network, visit the following link in the list of "problems" on this Apple newsgroup's web page.
Search for the folowing topic title:
Problems Setting-up Airport Express to Play Music thru External Speakers
Currently, is is at the bottom of page 12 of this discusssion group.
The info in it may be useful to you.
Please let me know if you get yours up & running in the Linksys wireless
    network.
    Thank you

  • Connecting MBP to G4 with ethernet

Since acquiring a MacBook Pro in May, I have been unable to get it to connect via ethernet to the G4 laptop on the same network.
Both laptops have a Location on which Appletalk is operational. Personal file sharing is activated on both. I use the Connect to Server item on the Go menu in Finder on both machines and always get a quick Connection failed message: "The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again".
Recently my Apple store manager suggested that I should turn off the wireless router while trying to Connect to Server. However, this made no difference.
Since the MBP has a faulty SuperDrive so that I cannot burn CDs or DVDs on it, this question is becoming urgent!

Yes, you can do this. And it's not very hard at all. Assuming your eMac has a built-in modem, the only other item you need is a 'crossover' ethernet cable, which you can get at almost any computer supply store.
IMHO it will be easier for you if you use your eMac as the computer that connects to the internet and shares its connection with your PC. Without getting too technical (and admittedly not comprehensive, either), you would basically do the following -
-set up your modem connection in your eMac's networking preferences
-set up your ethernet connection in your eMac's networking preferences. If you do not have a router you will need to set a unique manual ethernet address in your eMac as well as your PC. I'd suggest 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3 as addresses in the 192.168.x.x range are reserved for small private networks like you will have.
-set up internet connection sharing in your eMac's sharing preferences. Make a note of the address it will tell you that you can use to allow other computers to access your eMac
-in your PC set up your ethernet network connection with a manual address as indicated above
-connect the crossover cable between the two computers
-from your PC you will have to log into your eMac under a previously established OS-X username, with the address that the eMac sharing pane gave you when you set up sharing.
There are more detailed steps involved in doing all of the above, but it provides the right general direction for you.

  • Network patching with bootcamp for windows7

I have 5+ version of Bootcamp assistant, and complete a Windows7 SP1. Although after the completion network adaptors, the Universal Bus and bunch of drivers are missing. I first did is to look for what are the missing drivers and went to Broadcom to download, that got my ethernet card working but rest of the hardware either have driver and the wifi is down.
I found this post to download the patching drivers from bootcamp assistant...jus check the middle section and you can download from bootcamp to your usb stick. rather then burn to dvd..
