2012 R2 servers hangs on restart
I´m not 100% sure what happend, but it seems that after October patch releases, multiple of my lab servers are hanging on restart or shutdown. I run one 2012 R2 datacenter to host multiple 2012 R2 VMs. Lately, I patched them up (since it is a lab, I don´t
have a pilot patching practise on servers).
The symptomps are:
- Server does not shutdown or restart (physical or virtual)
- Server does not respond on CTRL-ALT-DEL request (apperently still running shutdown or/and update) actions.
So far I´ve done:
- held power button for a minute to kill power several times in different situations
- gone through event viewer
- command sfc /scannow
- command chkdsk /F on all drives (some error fix on one volume, other were clean).
- Left Hyper-V host for hours to hang on "restarting" phase (no hdd led activity here)
Hi yannara,
Glad to hear the problem has been solved and thanks for your sharing .
Best Regards,
Elton Ji

2012 R2 server hangs on reboot from Windows Updates
I have multiple Windows 2012 R2 servers which hang on restart after applying Wundows Updates. There are no enries in the logs to explain this.
The server console session shows only the 2012 windows icon; the server will not accept a Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and must be Reset, or powered off and powered on, at which point it goes into the configuring Windows screen.
Some servers are disconnected from the network, but not all (responds to ping, no alerts in SCOM 2012R2).Hi,
Before going further, can you elaborate with us which Windows updates you have installed? Besides, can we boot the servers into Safe Mode? If the servers can boot into Safe Mode, we can try to uninstall the updates to see
if it helps.
Best regards,

2012 MBP Repeatedly Hangs - Interpret Diagnostics?
Hello -
Can someone help me interpret the results of the diagnostic test I've run? I'm trying to isolate the cause of the sudden onset of my 2012 MBP suddenly hanging every 10-30 minutes. It doesn't matter what programs are in use or not in use or whether connected to wifi, within the last week it has consistently stopped responsiveness and reverted to beachball upon every re-boot.
Here's the results of the diagnostic:

Hang on restart and various other problems
Hi everyone,
I hope someone can shed some light on what's going on with my MacBook Pro. Since having purchased it in August 2006 (my previous Powerbook was stolen!) i've had the experienced the following issues:
1. The computer almost always hangs on restarts (not shutdowns). The restart does not seem to complete the final stage and a dim light remains at the front. In addition, i can hear the hard drive spinning
2. Sometimes when starting the machine (usually after hard shutdowns thanks to the first point) the computer does not boot up. Instead, it returns to a similar state as above: dim light, spinning hard drive, but no screen, no startup chime and i believe the CD drive doesn't spin up either.
3. The Above problem is only resolved by leaving the machine to rest for about 10 minutes. I have tried removing the battery, disconnecting and reconnecting the AC supply, resetting the PMU, holding down the reset PRAM buttons, but nothing works aside from leaving the machine for a while. Please note that this is not an overheating issue.. it happens when the machine is running relatively cool also.
4. Lately my MacBook Pro has begun to shutdown instead of hibernating when the battery runs low. I don't realise until i plug in the remains and press the power button when the keyboard wake doesn't do anything.
5. Over the last few weeks i've noticed the battery life deteriorating rapidly. Yesterday it gave me 15 minutes following a full charge!! I decided to put the battery in a fridge for a while and it seems to have helped, but something is seriously wrong here.
6. Having installed the Core Duo temperature monitor last night i noticed that the processor was running at 82 degrees centigrade at one point. While that may be normal, since that time it has generally run at between 50 and 60 degrees. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
7. Previously i had trouble with the computer freezing, leaving me unable to move the cursor. Surprisingly, i was always able to escape from this by pressing the power button once. the cursor would then move again and i would cancel the shutdown. This problem seems to have fixed itself by resetting the PRAM a while ago.
8. Lastly, and probably unrelated to the above, the CD drive sometimes sounds as though it is rubbing against a casing while spinning and the noise can be a bit distracting. Also, i have noticed that if i move the machine while burning CDs the burn will fail. I don't put a great deal of pressure on the area around the CD drive and it seems a bit sensitive to me.
Other info:
I have reinstalled the OS twice and the problems are still there.
I have reset the PMU and PRAM more times than i can remember.
The laptop has receied no blows or other damage and the problems have existed since purchase
I Installed Bootcamp at purchase (needed Windows for some accountancy software) and thought that the problems might be related to this, bit have since removed it various times and finally decided to remove it permanently recently. I reformatted the whole drive, did a fresh install reset the PMU and PRAM (again!) and downloaded all updates from apple. The problems remain. :S
Help! I absolutely love my macs... i just wish this one would work right!
Thanks in advance for your observations/advice.
Andy
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2.16Ghz 2Gb RAMAny idea what piece of hardware might be at fault?
No… although these types of issues are usually logic board related when it is determined to be hardware.
Am i right in thinking this?
Yes, you can take it into any Apple Store/Service Centre in the US, and worldwide, and have it repaired. -
X200 hangs during restart or shut down when connected to ultrabase
My X200 hangs during a Windows restart or shut down when I'm connected to my ultrabase. The laptop appears to go through most of the processes to restart/shut down but eventually hangs at a blue screen with unmoveable cursor (note, not a Windows BSOD). I'm forced to perform a hard shut down to turn off the laptop.
This hang at restart/shut down only occurs when I'm connected to the ultrabase.Just as a thing to try, and this is assuming that you all have an integrated camera, please try this camera driver and let the board know the results:

E66 get hanged and restarted when selecting any th...
Hi friends,
I just purchased E66 3 week ago.
Its just awesome phone.
But when I tried to change theme from Grey to White steel directly without preview it gets hanged and restarted.
Anybody having this type of problem?
let me knowIn the search window, if you can, search for "com.apple.finder.plist". Trash it, and restart.
If you can't do it, put your machine in Target Mode, and connect to a buddies machine. Search for, and remove, that same file. -
Nokia 5800 - The phone will hang during restart if...
I had bought this nokia 5800 three week ago. This problem did not occur on the first day. On the second day, after i put in some media files inside the memory card through USB connection (using nokia PC suite), the phone will hang during restart and i need to take out the battery to turn the phone off. This problem keep on happens until i remove the memory card from the phone. Somemore, this problem does not disapear even i remove those media files.
With this problem, i need to remove the memory card evey time i restart the phone and plugin the memory card again after the phone is turned on.
Can anybody help me?
By the way, i would like to ask ---> if i plugin the memory card after the phone is ON, will it harm my phone or the memory card?
The memory card is original card come with the phone.
Firmware: V11
Message Edited by aeiouaeiou1980 on 21-Feb-2009 03:02 PMIf this is happening when the MMC is not inserted then the fault almost certainly lies with the memory card somewhere.
A corruption of data can sometimes happen on the MMC when transfering files from pc to phone.
Try the following.
Menu
Applications
File manager
E. Memory Card (select and go into E: drive)
Options
Menory card options
Format
Select Yes
Enter Security code (default is 12345 is not changed)
This will format your memory card, and should delete any corrupted data held on the card.
Note that performing a format on the card will delete all data held on it.
My posts are my opinion and in no way the direct views of Nokia.

Found all the Servers that were restart without the maintenance mode were actived ?
Hi all
I was wondering if I can find a query about this request:
- Found all the Servers that were restart without the maintenance mode were actived ?
It's to make a Report To include in Reporting Services.
sorry for my English :)
Thank you very much and have a good dayHi, first if the maintenance mode is activated no events are collected, then, as example, in default rules you can see the following
Collection Rule for Windows Restarted Events that collects eventid=6005
with eventsourcename=eventlog from System
log which is enabled by default.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Windows+Operating+System&ProdVer=5.2&EvtID=6005&EvtSrc=EventLog&LCID=1033
So you can check Data warehouse DB for presence such event
select ComputerName, DateTime from Event.vEvent ev
inner join Event.vEventDetail evd on ev.eventoriginid = evd.eventoriginid
inner join Event.vEventParameter evp on ev.eventoriginid = evp.eventoriginid
inner join vEventLoggingComputer elc on elc.eventloggingcomputerrowid = ev.loggingcomputerrowid
where eventdisplaynumber = '6005' Order by ComputerName, Datetime
http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2007/10/18/useful-operations-manager-2007-sql-queries.aspx
So if you see this event it means the server was restarted and the maintenance mode was not activated.
Also keep in mind that there can be other event ids when computer is restarted, as example see the rule
Collection Rule for Windows Restart Events (restarted from bugcheck) -

Hi Guys,
Any one faced problems with E90 Phone getting hanged after restart.... It hangs up at the boot cycle..... You have to hard format using * + Call + 3 + Power on button to reformat it.
But after reformating it after i restore my data, after restart it again hangs...
Any one aware of any firmware or software that can help me solve this issue. It is the orginal Snow Leopard install disk that came with the machine.
Techtool indicates that the dvd drive is working correctly.
Techtool shows Disks 3 and 4 are working correctly.
Disk utility and disk warrior show 3 & 4 are working correctly.
Disk utility and disk warrior say that the raid setup needs to be rebuilt.
In order to rebuild the raid and lots of other reasons using the install disk is necessary. -
My Nokia E5 keeps hanging and restarts
My Nokia E5 keeps hanging and restarting on it's own. It is very frustrating especially when work is so busy and I need to use the phone frequently. Is there any solution to the problem??
you need to perform a master reset on your phone since the normal reset wont do it. but be mindful that when you do master reset, it will delete all of the contents of your phone memory so backup your data first on the comp and use ovi suite, visit these website for assistance on backup https://www.nokia.co.uk/ovisuite and click on how to. then once the backup is finish, dial these code on your phone *#7370# and lock code is 12345. it will get rid off that error message and then restore your backup file again from the ovi suite.

MDT 2012 State Restore Phase hangs at Restart-Computer Task
Background:
MDT2012 only for OSD. Configuring Win7 Enterprise x86 for Reference Image creation with Apps installed.
Configuration is being done with a VMWare VM.
Problem:
I have an issue where the sequence hangs on a later Restart Computer task. Applications finish installing successfully according to the logs. I have no idea why it stops.
I have a couple restart computer tasks earlier in the sequence that all run fine. only after some applications are installed does the Restart Computer hang up.
If I force a restart at that point I get the "dirty environment found" error. If I select to not start a new install my previous sequence picks up and continues where it should.
When hung up the computer is responsive as I am able to check the logs. The SMSTS log says the reboot was successful, but it didnt actually happen.
Here is the last bit of the SMSTS.LOG file.

Thanks!I have tried the following:
One App at a time - Success
No apps at all - Success
2-3 Apps - Mixed. No pattern. No single problem application identified.
For some reason I cant post screen caps here or links.
Apps include:
Symantec Endpoint Protection
Oracle Java and ODBC Drivers
Adobe reader, flash, shockwave
MS Office, Forefront, AppV Client
Winzip
Citrix Client
I have tried reordering the list of apps. I am continuing to enable and disable app installs. I was hoping people would have come across this and had a fix for this.
Thanks
