3 dice random if else questions beginner

Hi all,
I have searched my brain, and the internet for help, to no avail, I cannont find any. I am new to Java Programming. Sometimes I do not understand my instructor, he confuses me. I have to write a small program that includes tossing 3 dice. any pair is 100, any 3 of a kind (except 6's) is 200, and toss 3 sixes to get 300. I can get my code to work, but not correctly. I've tried the && and ||(or) when the ||(or) is used, for pairs, 3 of a kinds are paid 100. Is this confusing?

The reason I am interested in capturing the user answers in Submit All situation is that I know after I published the test using SCORM 2004, all the user responses were captured in "cmi.suspend_data" because my test can resume the test to the last exit question in the middle. However, when I looked at the suspend data value, I have a hard time to understand the pattern and pick out the meaningful user question responses data. I really need help from you to understand how the suspend data value was constructed and how to parse this data. Another area I thought it's easy to get the user question responses data is the interaction records, but I always got only one question (the last randomly sampled question) interaction record. See the following generated XML SCORM 2004 4th edition data. Could you help me figure out how to interpret the following suspend data to get the users responses to each test question? JS for randomizing tiered quiz questions?

Alright noble edge users out there - I could really use your help:
I am creating a quiz in edge with 10 levels - each level asks a question dealing with a particular topic for that level. To make it more challenging/random, I want to allow each level's question to pull from a pool of 2-3 possible questions for that particular level (rather than one general pool for all 10 questions).
I have created symbols out of each question - and played with a few randomizing options - but I am a tragically front-end designer

A lot of that depends on how you've structured your game. Hopefully someone can add to this, but If you're wanting to stick mostly to coding from the timeline in edge animate, then you could do something like this:
1) Insert a timeline label at the location of each question.
2) Insert a timeline trigger at the beginning of your animation to create global array that contains the names of each timeline label for your questions. Something like this:
     window.possible_questions = ["Timeline Label 1","Timeline Label 1","Timeline Label 1","Timeline Label 1"];
3) After you create the possibleQuestions array you can then send the user to the first random question by generating a random array index within the range of the remaining questions using something like this:
     //generate random index
     var random_index = Math.floor(Math.random() * possible_questions.length);
     //store the next question label
     var next_question = possible_questions[random_index];
     //remove the label from the array so we don't come back to it again
     possible_questions.splice(random_index, 1);
     //send the player to that label

4) At each question, put something like this. If you want to detect the end of the game you can do that as well:

What do you do with a group of random pics + general questions

I am a potential new user of iPhoto 6 and Mac. I have been reading through the hundreds of threads for iPhoto. I have a collection of over 12000 images (some on a pc, some on cd, and others on floppy). I have yet to get the entire catalog organized to date even with several attempts. I hope the Mac would solve all my troubles so I am holding off any further cataloging.
On to my question - I usually take random photos of my kids or outdoors or otherwise, along with a full larger set of photos from a day outing. The first few wouldnt be album criteria in and of themselves, but the full set would (i.e. Day at the Museum). I wonder how this type of shooting is handled as far as organizing with the roll/album features in iPhoto6.
Also, isn't anyone really concerned about the lack of IPTC support in iPhoto? I currently use Elements 4.0 and the Organizer is fantastic (although hated by others). I personally find it very useful to have all my photos saved in folders by import date. I cant grasp the idea of how to get roll# from this to import into iPhoto.
I would hope to find a Mac program that supports the use of photo captions and keywords. It doesnt appear that iPhoto is it. Is it? Does it also support PSD files? I am trying to understand the process on how the file copies/moves/edits files upon import too. It is hard to imagine the process when I dont have it yet (but may within a couple months)!
I am sure I have many more questions to come, but I'll start with this if someone would be so kind to give me information. I have hunted for specifics and find only very simple how to steps.

personally find it very useful to have all my photos saved in folders by import date.
iPhoto will create a roll for each folder imported and name that roll the same as the folder. However, the date on the roll may not match the capture date of your photos but instead reflect the latest modification date in the bunch. You can change the roll date so that it lists correctly chronologically.
iPhoto also supports Photoshop files, psd. You can also edit your photo from within iPhoto with PS. Just go into iPhoto's preferences General pane and select Photoshop in the Edit photo in: menu. Now when you double click on a photo PS will open it and you can edit. There is one caveat, however. If you edit a jpg file and create a layered image file or one that required the psd extension you must save it to the desktop and then import as a new file. Once imported as a psd file, you can edit it again without issue, layers or not.
If you're interested in maintaining your source files outside of iPhoto you can use iPhoto's alias method (see the Advanced section of iPhoto's preferences) and just have iPhoto use alias files instead of copying the full file into it's library folder system. This way you can have your source files on an external drive and only the library folder on your boot drive. I have 27G of photos on my second drive and a 1.7G library on my boot drive. If you have a laptop and want to take it traveling you'll be able to view thumbnails, create and delete albums, add comments and, with some aggravation, add keywords. You cannot do anything that will require the full image file, edit, slideshows, books, etc. Once the external HD is remounted the library will be fully functional again. I've create a Tutorial to assist users in converting over to the alias system. Good luck.

Random-non-apple-question ADOBE LIGHT ROOM?

...a random question for anyone that uses adobe light room... when i go to import cannon raw files it imports as colour and then after they 'render preview' they turn black and white...
i's so fustrating!
no presets are on and i reset the settings...
no other format of picture does this.
it dosent matter how i import the files, it still turns black and white.

IF Then Else question in PL/SQL script

Hi guys, this will be an easy one for most of you. I'm just looking for advice on the most efficient way of doing this. I have 15 fields where I need to check that the value doesn't equal a group of values. For example, NG,NA, NOT KNOWN etc. If the fields are equal to any of these values I want the variable set to null so a blank space is printed out.
I've started of doing it like:
IF v_service_request_id IN ('Not Given', 'NG') THEN
v_service_add_last_name := NULL;
END IF;
but I'm just wondering if this is the best way to do it? At this rate, I'm going to have this piece of code in 15 times, once for each variable. Would I be more efficient using case statements or some other function?
Also, where it says IN ('Not Given', 'NG') this is just an example of the values I'm checking for. In reality there's around 30. Is there any way I could put these values into some sort of stored list and then just say:

Assuming the list of 30 values id the same for all fields, then another alternative would be to create a function in the same package to do the test. Something like:

Random library shuffle Question

Is there a way to "force" the library to be played all the way through, randomly, before repeating? On my laptop 273 songs have been played more the once while 799 songs been played once leaving 1957 songs that have not been played at all. I'm hoping not to hear the same song twice until I cycled through the whole library. I know that only 273 songs were played more then once but it just sounds to me that I'm hearing the same handful of songs over and over again.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes.
Create a Smart Playlist with the condition of 'playcount' is 'zero' or 'less than 1' or whatever you need. Also check 'live updating' so the playlist will continually remove any song that is fully played.
Use that Playlist in shuffle mode, rather than the Library, or direct the Party Shuffle to use that playlist.
As you get to higher playcounts for songs in your library, you may need to adjust the constraints.
Or, you could reset all playcounts to '0' once you have heard them all and continue on...

Design questions - beginner

Hello,
I'm just getting started with BDB XML and the resources here have been very helpful. To play around with it, I imported 100,000 records from my relational db into BDB XML. I imported it as one document that sort of looks like this:

Querying this database using dbxml.exe has been extremely slow, even after using indexes. So, I have the following questions:
1. Should I import it has a single document containing 100k children, or is it better to import it as 100k different documents?
2. Are there any resources available for best practices in designing the XML database, especially from the PoV of a relational database designer?

Amit,
Using the correct indexes and release 2.3.10 your performance should be reasonably good even with a single, large document. In general, it can be better to use individual documents, especially if you want to add/remove them individually. If there is no need to keep them as one document, I'd recommend using separate documents.
Also, if you want better answers on tuning queries, you need to provide more information, such as the indexes you've declared and the queries you are using.

Edit: Actually I'm not sure what the values of the variables in that method are, because you also have a scoping issue. One method declares those variables and sets them, and then you're invoking another method without passing them to it. So I guess you have class variables and it is using those instead.
This code is a complete mess.

IMac randomly shows flashing question mark

Hi -
Today, my 2007 20" iMac suddenly froze. I wasn't doing anything hardware-intensive. I shut it off, and when I turned it back on, I was greeted by a flashing question mark. I already tried all the steps in this document to no avail. The only one I didn't try was the startup partition, as this is an older iMac. I did try slipping in a Snow Leopard disk and launching Disk Utility. The hard drive didn't appear. Are there any further steps I can take? I'd rather not take it to a repair shop and lose it for a week. Thanks!

The hard disk is damaged. The question mark means that the Mac can't find any bootable partitions, and in most of the cases, it means that your hard disk is damaged. You have confirmed this saying that Disk Utility doesn't recognize the disk.

Formula If/Then/Else question

I am using the following formula to read one value (valuation price), and if it = 0, then display the value of another field (moving price), if <> 0, then display that field (valuation price).

However, only the first part of the evaluation returns a value, ie only the rows that have a valuation price =0. If I reverse the order, it does the same thing, almost like it won't evaluate the "else" part of the evaluation.
If anyone see's something obvious I would appreciate your input. I have read the help file and done some searching but have found nothing relevant.

( NODIM('Valuation Price')== 0 ) * NODIM('Moving Price') + ( NODIM('Valuation Price') <> 0 ) * NODIM('Valuation Price')

Special effect question - beginner

I am a beginner at video editing. In fact, I have never edited a video before. My kids have a video with a wizard wand and want to have a lightning bolt come out of it and we can insert items to look like they created with magic. Is this something this software can do? Are there "stock" flash lightning bolts etc? I am looking for a product to purchase that I will be able to figure out easy or get assistance.

Random Weight Product Question

Hi All
Do you know of any user exit that we can use in every movement in the Inventory Management (should cover all manual as well as automatic movements as well as custom movement types), so that for certain random weighted products, we can ask the user to enter Actual Qty in alternate Unit of measure (std SAP only stores the qty in base UOM) and then we store that information in a Z table to keep track of Qty in alternate UOM for each SKU/ Batch in a plant/ sloc.
With every goods movement for these random weight products, we then either add or subtract the Qty in alternate UOM (based on the movement type) to keep the qty in the alternate UOM accurate.
This is required because the nature of random weighted products is such that each piece can weigh differently eg 1 leg of ham can weigh 10Kg but another can weigh 11Kg and another may be 9 Kg. In mat master we can only store one fixed conversion factor between base UOM and alternate UOM. (perhaps 10 kG = 1each). Our base UOM is Kg and alternate UOM is Each. We want to do ATP in sales orders based on Each, delivery picking in each, but charge customer based on $ per Kg.
This is so that we have clear cut visibility of the stock in alternate UOM as well (std SAP updates stock in base UOM correctly but only shows the stock in alternate UOM based on nominal conversion factor from material master). We will use one of the product attributes in material master to indicate that the product is random weight product.
We are on ECC6 and are not contemplating using catch weight management at this stage as it may be 6 month project by itself and trying to see if we can do some customisations for random weight products.

Why dont you use "Batch specific units of measure" functionality?
here you can define a "Product unit" . this wil take care of your stocks per batch in Alternate Uom as well.
In every first goods receipt of a batch ( external or inhouse ) you will have to give the qty in AUM w.r.t Base unit :
eg: Material M1 , base unit KG , AUM : BAG
Batch1 : 2 BAGs @ 3 KG per Bag .
Batch2: 2 BAGs @ 5 KG per Bag .
Now if you issue 1 BAG from Batch1 , system will reduce Stock by 3KG.
you can also see batch wise stocks in AUM (with batch specific conversion factor) in BMBC report.
you can also develop some report with the help of batch characteristic values for Mass display of stocks in AUM.
