3 problems: please assist

problem 1: I used to be able to command-select multiple images, drag a keyword to one of them, and have that keyword apply automatically to all images selected. Now, that doesn't work. The keyword (dragged from the HUD) only applies to the image to which it's dragged.
Any thoughts? Could I have changed a preference or something that affects this behavior? Anyone else having this issue?
problem 2: I have several smart albums. some of them are fast(er), returning the images. This has nothing to do w/ the number of images or size of the images (that was the first thing that I tested). Rather, it appears to be random: some of the smart galleries open quickly and display all images quickly; others open really, really slowly, and it takes 30 seconds or more for all images to display.
problem 3: when I click on the magnifying glass next to a smart album (to change or modify the criteria), the search hud box doesn't appear for a long, time. This is a huge problem: I don't know if you are supposed to hold the mouse button down, or what. Often that search hud appears and then immediately disappears. I click again on the glass/search icon, and nothing happens, again. Have you found this to be fast? Is it only on my system that it's really slow?
Would appreciate any useful feedback.

problem 1 i did this myself. you have probably toggled the Primary Only button (rightmost of the group of 5 display controls on the lower left of the control bar).

I am working on WebLogic(for the first time) with a sun JVM on a 8 CPU solaris machine, we have set the GC algorithm as,

The problem is The FULL GC takes consistently between 15 - 20 sec, firstly is that a concern?
We see that the heap is used up to 1.9 GB before it GC's
The CPU Utilzation on box is not high below 40% on an average.
Is using the "Concurrent Low Pause Collector" a good option in this case?
Please assist.

I am guessing from your question that you are concerned about the full GC pauses.
1.5.0_06 onwards there is a parallel old gc option available -XX:+UseParallelOldGC
which can help on an 8-way. I'd expect (much handwaving and guessing here)
that your full GC pauses might reduce from the current 15 sec range to the 2 second
range.
The concurrent GC would also help, albeit might require a bit of tuning to get
right -XX:+UseConcurrentMarkSweepGC, available since 1.4.2, and made
much more efficient and scalable in 5.0 and 6.0.
For tuning guidance, look at the tuning guides and white papers available
off of http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot ,
especially http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc5.0/gc_tuning_5.html
and the associated FAQ (at the end of the tuning guide referenced above).

Adobe Air problem - Please assist?

4 days ago on start-up I had a message that update was required for Adobe Air so I let it install. Yesterday I noted my websites were missing graphics, videos on You tube not playing etc, so I restarted computer and had message on start up re ADOBE AIR saying "The installation of this application is damaged - Try reinstalling or contacting publisher for help".
As the latter is not an existing option as they say "no help with Air just look at forums for assistance" this very non technical pensioner is asking for help as I have tried to do what I know by uninstalling and reinstalling THREE times now and still het the message and when I try to get into google it now tells me my profile cannot be used it belongs to a newer version - dont have a clue what I can do for this so any simple advice would be appreciated.
To be honest I dont even know if putting this is the right place but nothing anywhere seems to relate to problems with Air. If I should be asking elsewhere perhaps somebody could point me in that direction as would hate a major problem as because of disability my computer my lifeline.

Thank you - apologies for delay with my health I have up and down days and the bad ones have my fingers refuse to behave on here. I have to have Adobe Air installed for our BBC catch up TV programme BBC I Player The other day on switch on i had a message that adobe air needed to load a new version which is v 3.30.3650 and so i set it to run, then 2 days later I start getting the message above that the application is damaged so i take it off and re-install. while it was off I checked my bbc i player app and found the videos were pixelating then when I reinstalled the pixelating had stopped. Im operating a fairly new desktop vaio on windows 7. I have taken the system back up to 3 weeks now way before the air update when the problem started but its still happening, telling me its damaged, remove and re-install I feel like Im in Groundhog Day every morning!
So anyone who can help would be like an angel. Thanks

OK, so when I download a file off of the internet, what will happen is that the internet connection will go out. Then after fixing the connection, i will hit resume on the download and it will say: "you do not have permission to access the requested file". What should I do?

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.

Strange vlan configuration problem. Please assist.

We created a new IC to our building that I installed two 2950_48 that are stacked together. Off from one of the 2950 is a fiber that runs back to a 3548XL switch for our trunk connection. I configured trunk on both ends and set vlan 2 as our native vlan. However when I look at interface vlan 2 on the 2950_48 it is showing Vlan up and line protocol down. Now here comes the strange part- on the 2950_48, I able to configure each port for different vlan that we have in our infrastructure but only one vlan can be carried over the trunk. None of the other vlan seems to be working at all. The traffic of the working vlan has no problem at all with network communication. The other thing is that I can't get to my 2950s switch for management from telnet or SSH only console works. Obviously because my VLAN 2 is down. Please assist. Thanks.

looking at your configurations, I think you need to add the native VLAN statement to the trunk ports on your 3548:

switchport trunk pruning vlan none

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 2

If that does not help, can you post the output of ´show vtp status´ of both switches ? When you look at the output, make sure that the VTP version, domain name (case-sensitive) and password match.

Did you boot to the Internet Recovery Partition?
Here’s how:
1/ Make sure your computer is completely shut down.
2/ You’ll have to be quick next: Press the Mac’s power button. As soon as you either hear the loud chime, or see the display light up - usually after a second or 2 - on your keyboard press [alt] + [cmd] + [r] Keep these keys on your keyboard pressed until you see a spinning globe with the text “starting Internet Recovery” You might have to connect to your Wi-Fi network before you can continue here.
After a few minutes, you’ll be presented with a Utilities screen. This is the Internet Recovery partition. If this step is already giving you problems, try using a USB-keyboard. It doesn’t have to be an Apple-keyboard. If you have a Windows-tailored keyboard laying around, use the “Windows-flag” key in stead of the [cmd]-key and it should also work.
3/ Choose Disk Utility and click [continue]

and i am getting error because of NLS Language,i ran the same statement in SQL Developer and it gave me error,then i went and change the NLS Language to american in SQL Developer and tried to execute the statement again and it went through successfully in sql developer,can you please assist urgently on how to do the same in ODI.

Hi,
A colleague came across a similar problem to do with character settings when importing from a MySQL source. To get around it he edited the LKM to add a new command prior to the creation of the temp table:
alter session set NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS='CHAR'
You could do something similar, only your command would be something like:
alter session set NLS_LANGUAGE= 'AMERICAN'

What happens when you try?
If the song is an older purchase (from more than a few years ago), it may have DRM (copy protection). You can check by selecting the song on a list in iTunes, and doing a Get Info (right click - Get Into). On the Info window Summary tab, if Kind is Protected AAC audio file, it has DRM. Also note what it says there for Apple ID. You need to authorize the computer you use with the iPod to play content purchased with that Apple ID.
From the iTunes menu bar, under Store, select Authorize This Computer. Enter the Apple ID (and password) used to purchase the song. One computer can be authorize for multiple Apple IDs.
NOTE: More recent iTunes Store song purchases do not use DRM, although other type of media (such as TV shows and movies) still do.
If that's not the cause of your problem, please post back with more details...

I have the same issue, in that the CC Desktop App is Blank when opened. I tried re-booting, same thing. I tried re-installing the CC Desktop App, same thing.
I tried "Chat Support" only to have the agent ask me the same question that I already had filled out what the problem was in the Chat Box, and then they disconnected me because they said I was not responding when I was. So "Chat Support" was of no help at all.
Paying as much as we are for Creative Cloud, it is really frustrating that it breaks all the time. The last time I went through this, the only solution was to completely uninstall EVERY Adobe Application, and then reinstall them all. I really do not want to go through that process again, especially if I have to do it every time the main Creative Cloud Desktop App has issues, which seems to be all the time. Every time this happens, and I go to the Forums, I find numerous people posting with the same issues.
When is this going to be properly fixed so we the end users don't have to go through this all the time?? I don't have issues with other applications I have that update from time to time, just Adobe's applications.
Many of us rely on Adobe Software for business, and there are really not many other options besides Adobe, yet we are forced to interrupt our project workflow all the time to deal with software updates that are not working. This really needs to stop.
