3D Texturing Help

Hello
I'm currently using CS6 Ext. and I'm making a gun finish for Counter-Strike:Global Offensive.
There are some guides on making these but I think asking on the Adobe Forums would bring a better answer.
I'd like to put a graphic I made over a 3D object with a material on it, but it shows as an image in the 3D file.
Is there anyway to apply the graphic straight to the 3D object without putting it on the material layer and lining things up.

you can fake 3D to some degree in Motion 5:

the trick is (many descriptions on the net, not my own idea!), to staple a bundle of replicators:
here the settings for my example:
added a text track '7'
hit L to create a replicator
make it 3D
set 'box'
just one row/line
'lots of' levels/tracks
and very close together ...
you can do the same with graphics, such as the circle
Or, I did it here with my teams logo = psd, layered photoshop file
(looks better animated + animated lights etc)
applying a turning behavior makes everything turn.
in my quick'n dirty demo, aside the 'wrong' axis, you'll notice at some point a 'flicker':
exact from side, the stacked layers are visible
add more, stack them closer together
this is no 'real' 3D, but for some needs 'well enough' .....

    If GTA IV believes the system is under specification even though the computer is powerful enough to run the game with higher settings, the following will fix this problem.
    This will work if your problem looks like this: "resource usage 230/60" and you can't change any other setting
    Just follow the steps:
    Step 1: Create a text file named ‘commandline.txt’ (without the " ")
    Step 2: Put the following statement inside it:
    i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 (with the -)
    i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0 (with the -)
    Step 3: Open the main GTAIV folder (C/ program files (86)/ rockstar games/ GTA IV) and copy the commandline.txt file into it.
    Step 4: locate the file "GTAIV.exe" (in GTA main folder)
    Right click the file and select Properties
    Under the shortcut tab, you will see an area that says Target
    Modify the Target adding the command line after the last quotation mark (just add the statement you added in commandline.txt)
    (remember, i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 / i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0)
    It should look something like this:
    Make sure to add space between " and -"

  • Help using texture files in CS4

    Hi all,
      I'm trying to do something that seems like it should be fairly simple.  I'm trying to create a plane and apply a color map and a bump map, so the final render basically shows an overhead view of a flat surface showing the color map, with some depth added by the bump map.  I have been creating a new file in RBG format, creating a new 3D postcard from layer (giving me the plane), and applying a color map and a bump map (both jpegs from Dosch Design) using the 3D {Materials} pane.  Whenever I render the final image, it usually appears completely washed out (i.e., it looks like a washed-out version of the bump map).  Can anyone figure out where I am going wrong, or what I need to do differently?  I find that I can see the color map only when I insert it as the Diffuse map (when I insert it as the Normal map, it is not shown).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Thanks.  I've used Photoshop for a while, but I'm new to the 3D stuff.  I was thinking of the RBG information in the texture maps as color information, as opposed to how Photoshop interprets that information from a texture map.  I think that part of the reason the final render appeared "washed out" was that the global ambient color was set to white.  I've spent a bit of time playing with the various settings (and following your suggestions), which definitely helped - I'm thinking that I really need to spend more time working with the program.  Do you know of any good 3D tutorials that you would recommend again?  Thanks again.

  • Help needed with Illustrator texture swatches imported into Flash

    Hey, so I  basically scanned a texture into illustrator and added it into the swatches. After drawing a character in illustrator I used the colour of the swatch I had added to colour in my character and by using the tilde button I could move the texture to see which speicifc part of the texture I wanted for certain parts.
    Once I completed my character I imported him into Flash. Here is where the problem lies in, when I attempt to use the bone tool to animate him, as soon as I move a certain limb, the specific texture I had applied for that certain area causes the texture to move and make the area that I had coloured in using the swatches look different to what I initially imported into Flash.
    This has been a huge problem I have been facing and haven't been able to find an answer anywhere, I would really appreciate if I could get some help with this. Thank you very much!
    P.S.  If i explained my situation poorly, just ask for an image and I will gladly post a few so everything's clearer and makes more sense.

  • Help, photoshop cs6 doesn't have textures

    Hi, I recently tried to create a puzzle using photoshop cs6 following this tutorial http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/photoshop-puzzle/
    problem is that when i reach step 6 i cant find the texture option under filter, here is an image of my photoshop, its in spanish but i already checked and none of the options is texture, also in C/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop CS6/Presets there should be a folder called "Textures" but i cant find it, help, how do i create a puzzle if i dont have this?

    This is what you do. Open Photoshop, select the layer you want to apply the puzzle to and select "Filter" from the main menu, then select "Filter Gallery", then select "Texture" and choose "Texturizer", now click the flyout menu and choose "Load Texture"
    Now navigate to your ...Photoshop/Presets/Textures folder and choose "puzzle.psd" and click Open.
    Now you can adjust the settings as desired.

  • Help with Textures, Element 3D and Photoshop CS6

    Hello,
    I thought this was the best place to ask my question due to the Photoshop details...
    I am using Element 3D with CS6.  I downloaded a model that was in 3DS Max format, so imported it into Photoshop and exported it as a .OBJ file so element could read it.
    The model shows up in Element but when i go to apply the textures they do not work.  I tried different file types from Photoshop (.jpeg & .png) but none are opened in Element.
    Does anybody know why this is happening?
    For easy access, i would like to stay within the Creative suite to do this type of work.  It seems Photoshop CS6 has been updated enough for 3D that it should work.  I realize Blender might be a better option but learning another program is a lot of work.  So if I could ask for Photoshop specific responses (unless Photoshop just can not do this properly) I would would appreciate it!

    Thanks for your reply.  As you can see, I am pretty green when it comes to 3D.  I opened the model in Photoshop and it looked as it should be.  I then went to "export 3D layer" and exported the model as a .obj for Element to read.  Photoshop then displays a dialogue asking what format you want the exported texture files in.  This is where I tried original, jpeg and png.  None show up in Element.
    Is there another step I am missing in Photoshop to prepare or export the textures?  My model is RGB 8bit in Photoshop.
    I have heard of textures being "baked" which would solve the texture issue but is know is not good for resolution.  I mainly do video but am looking to add some graphic elements in my work.  Being able to download models and incorporate them is all I am really after.  Nothing crazy and I hope I can accomplish this without needing to become a 3D wizard.

    i suggest you go to a minecraft site like planetminecraft or the minecraft forums and ask there but here is a good texture pack for 1.7.10

    to install it
    go into finder
    on the top bar click on "Go"
    hold alt and "Libraries" should pop up
    go into libraries and click "application support"
    click "minecraft"
    go into "Resource Packs"
    then drop in the ressource pack folder

  • I lost all my live fonts, objects, textures, fonts and effects! Help!

    I currently upgraded my Final Cut Express to 4. After my install I noticed that some of my old projects needed to have titles reconnected through Live Type. When I went into the file in Live Type it told me that there was media missing. All of my Live Fonts, Fonts, Objects, Textures and Effects are different now and the old ones are gone! What happened? Is this a result of installing the new FCE 4 and if so can I get the old ones back? Help!!

    FCE V4 comes with a "lite" version of LiveType which is dramatically different to the previous version in the amount of media included.
    My suggestion would be to uninstall FCE4, (re)install the previous version, and totally complete your old projects.
    Some posters have apparently been able to install the old media along with the new media. A search of this forum might reveal the best way to do this.

    I used to play the sims 3 through windows 7 bootcamp and nothing like this ever happened.
    Until i installed the sims 3 on mac os x mavericks (10.9), things become like shown in the image above.
    I use macbook pro 13" i7 late 2011.

    I believe that it should be a problem of the game's texture. Try redownloading the game, if problem still occurs. Please don't ask it on Apple Support Communities. We can't solve it out, you might want to go to Sim's fourms to fix that. We usually help people that have problem with Apple Products. But we can't solve other problems that are not related to Apple applications.

  • Director help-video as a texture

    Could someone help please, I am trying to play a video clip
    or an animated texture on one model(there are about 10 short video
    clips). So far i have imported a w3d model into director and i have
    added an animate texture behaviour from the chrome Lib set of
    behaviours. My question is how do i change the shader names on my
    models various sides so as i can have more than one animated
    texture? I think i need to assighn dirfferent shader and texture
    numbers( the default is 1) but as my lingo skills are very weak i
    do not know how to do this.If anyone could help with this problem
    or point me in the right direction i would be grateful

    Adding Texture will result in essentially using a still image to create "Texture."
    What you want instead is PiP, where your secondary Video appears essentiall below your Lower Third, but above your main Video.

    PS there are several ways to do the custom PiP. I would look to Track Matte Keying myself, but others will probalby have different techniques. Some might suit your workflow better.

  • Painting / Replacing the texture of an item in a photo - please help

    Hi. I've got about 20-30 photos for a pottery distributer. The problem is, they don't have photos of the pottery items in one of the textures they carry.
    So, in short, I need to know if it's possible to do the following. Replace the color & texture of the fish pottery (on the right of the attached file) with the speckled texture of the pottery on the left.
    I've already isolated the image of the fish using the pen tool, and tried several blending modes. But nothing I do seems to look quite right.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Zeno, I agree. This is difficult to pull off with optimal results (at least it is so far for me, lol).
    Here is a link to what I've been able to produce so far, using a myriad of blending layers. I also had to clone stamp the pattern/texture of the pot onto a separate layer and have it masked by the fish shape, if that makes sense.
    I don't know if I'm satisfied with it or not. I guess I should see if the client likes it before I decide whether or not to do the entire job.

    How can I get the metal texture on the black part instead of just the words having the texture on them? I didn't want the font to be textured, just the black part. Thanks in advance.

    Selext the shapes you want to be filled with your texture
    Group the shapes, and fill them with black
    Select your texture, and the back shapes group on top
    Click make opacity mask on transparency palette, then invert mask

    If you have Final Cut Studio, there are two extra disks labelled "Live Type Media".
    If you have Final Cut Express, Look on your Installer disk, the media files should be on there.

  • Need help with crosshatch texture

    I'd welcome some advice or tips (Win7, PS CS6).  I am trying just for the fun of it to recreate a texture similar to this:

    I've tried starting out with noise on a background layer and using different filters (motion blur, crosshatch, fibres), but the closest I've got is this, which isn't what I want.:
    I seem to remember seeing a tutorial once in these forums, but I can't find it and I can't  remember how it's done.

    How random do you want it to look?
    I was thinking that you could do something like an Add Noise operation onto a blank canvas, then duplicate into two layers.  Then use Motion Blur on each layer, one horizontally and one vertically, then combine them (e.g., Overlay or maybe Multiply).
    If you want it to look more regular than this, I can imagine mixing in a component done similarly but starting with a halftone pattern.

  • HELP:  I have greenish dots outlining texture of desktop

    Just received my Mac Pro back from Apple repair. I plug it in and see greenish dots and mini lines outlining and words on my desktop. This includes the texture of photo's. I saved a photo of my desktop and it's present in the photo. I cannot capture video on FCP as the lines-dots will be present in the video or photo's. I unplugged all electronics in home except computer to see if it was interference.. it wasn't... Any advice is appreciated. I have a video project in FCP that I cannot start with his problem.
