4.1EA2 Text cursor goes missing in SQL Worksheet

In EA1 and EA2, my cursor seems to intermittently go missing in SQL Worksheet

One such pattern that I noticed it seems to go missing on is when running a script.
Another pattern, if I hit enter a few times before the cursor has a chance to blink in between (not always), or hit the up or down arrow to go to the top or bottom of the page respectively, it also disappears.
I'm able to get the mouse back by dragging the window out of maximize position.
Couldn't reproduce in a procedure editor - assume will be same for package/function editor. So it's most prominent in SQL Worksheet.

I'm having this same issue that started happening with EA1 and persisted into EA2. It was not occurring prior to my upgrade. My input cursor disappears when scrolling up or down in code using the mouse wheel or scroll bar when the code extends beyond the display area. Moving the window does not help, but resizing the window appears to cause it to redraw and the cursor appears again. I can see what line I am on due to current line highlighting, and I can also select text or start typing to get an idea of where I am.

Note that I was running 4.0.1.14.48 prior on Java 8 so it's likely a recent change and most likely not related to going from Java 7 to 8.

Release 4: File Folder icon missing in SQL Worksheet

The file folder icon is now missing in the SQL Worksheet. Using File->Open just opens the file in the editor. There is no way to run the SQL file. Clicking on Run in menu across the top causes the "The target bogus.sql cannot be started because it is not a runnable target." error message.
The help for "Using the SQL Worksheet" shows the file folder icon on the screen shot.
How does one open a SQL file and run it in Release 4?

The File Open (or Open button on the main toolbar) works better in some respects - it opens in a SQL Worksheet (although not associated with a database connection), name s the tab with the filename, indicates a changed file by switching to italics in the tab name and requests confirmation on close if the file is modified.
However, the default directory is the <SQL Developer directory>/jdev and the file type defaults to all.
The Right-Click in SQL Worksheet opens the file from a default of C:\Documents and Settings\<username> (for me at least) with a file type of *.sql. The tab name is not renamed when opening the file (stays as the connection name) and there is no close confirmation if the file is modified.
The File Open makes it harder to lose stuff, but is a bit more work to use. As redoing lost work is more effort than switching file types and potentially more directory navigation on opening, I think the File Open option is better than the Right-click, but I would prefer something with the File Open functionality from within an existing SQL Worksheet.

Some text goes missing in the PDF output after I convert FM8 book

Hi,
I am using Framemaker 8.0, Acrobat 8.0 Professional, Acrobat Distiller 8.0.
When I convert my Framemaker books to PDFs, some text (especially Table Heading tags) go missing in the PDF output. I have tried to change the font colour, change the cell shading, and many other options. But, the problem persists.
I saw some similar links on the forums with this kind of problems. For example,

After going through these links from the forums, I realized that this is a known issue. But, the above links direct me to Microsoft patches and these patches are available only for Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, and Windwos Vista operating systems. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit version.
One more thing I want to say is we have never faced this problem earlier. It started appearing now.
While I know that the world (many of us) moved on to Framemaker 9 and 10, I also know that there is someone out there to help me to overcome this issue.

Thanks for your response.
We tried this option also. In fact, the Distiller shows this option by default. Secondly, we have recently updated our old template to reflect the new corporate styles and we suspect something went wrong there. We once again took the old template and updated with the new colour definitions and fonts, this time very carefully and it started working. Now, the text is not missing.
So, the result is something is wrong with our template. Quite surprising is it is inconsistent and some places the text appears and some places it does not.
Where do you work? Are you in India?

How to make Firefox (Mac) not go back a page upon pressing the Cmd+Left-Combination which should set the text cursor to the beginning of a line in input fields instead of leaving the page?

On a Mac, Cmd+Left places the text cursor to the beginning of the line, Cmd+Right to the end of the line.
FireFox however goes back resp. forward a page in hinstory, which is ''most annoying'', since it very often causes me to accidentally leave a still unsubmitted form and loose all input!
I did not find any possibility to get rid of these dreadful keybindings.

I guess I didn't revert to as far back as the change I had made because when I follow your instructions, no entries are bold.
Or did you perhaps mean the next time the problem occurs I should look for a bold entry? And then change it back to what it was? (All that I recall from a year ago was that I changed one entry from ''true'' to ''false'', or vice versa.)

Some fields value goes missing while hitting backspace

While hitting backspace on a page the previous page that opens does not hold all the data that was filled in. Some of the field values goes missing. I think it is a browser cache problem. The browser should always rememeber the field values while reloading a page. In some of the cases it does not(specially when backspace is being pressed). Is there any suggestion? Please help me out.

Hey.. I have encountered the same problem too. Actually if I have some text field elements and if we implement some kind of Javascript or Jquery validation on it and then after moving to next page when we press backspace we do not get previous input values in the previous page. Not only that some times if we do not implement any validation still the values lost while coming back to the previous page by pressing backspace or browser back button. Any suggestion please..

TYPING PROBLEM CURSOR GOING BACKWARDS

Since I have installed Yosemite, I have a cursor problem when typing e-mails (only e-mails). When I type an ' like in the word L'IMAGE, my cursor goes back automatically to the letter just after the ' when I am at the end of the word this means instead of typing " l'image parle" it will type "l'iparlemage"
Slightly similar problem with 's in English, the cursor goes back to just after the ' as if not willing to insert a blank. It means I wish to type "Daddy's car" , it types: "Daddy'scar".
This is really boring!

I have found a solution: in Mac SYSTEM PREFERENCES, choose the keyboard icon and there go to TEXT and de-activate the spelling.
This has enabled me to go to MAIL, then EDIT on the top line, chose SUBSTITUTION and exclude SMART QUOTES.

Create a cursor from a PL/SQL variable or an external file

Dear friends,
is there a way for me to make Oracle Forms read a cursor from a PL/SQL variable, or an external file? Let's suppose we have the code below:

cursor c_values is select * from my_table;
r_values c_values%ROWTYPE;
BEGIN
for r_values in c_values loop
do_something;
end loop;
END;
In the situation described above, could I create "select * from my_table" from a PL/SQL variable (it could be something like p_cursor = 'select * from my_table'), or an external file - for example, make my form read the contents of c:\my_select.sql , where we see the "select * from my table" text?
My question comes because I need to export data from select instructions that were dinamically created inside the form - that is, via PL/SQL -, and I don't want to rewrite it, but I'll have to do it if I have no choice. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I am using DBMS_SQL package, which solved my problem. Please let me explain it better, if it's not clear.
I have some PL/SQL blocks inside my form, which creates SQL queries dinamically, and a dinamically created SQL is stored into a VARCHAR2 variable. These SQL queries are exported for use in Oracle Graphics, but since OG is not being developed by Oracle anymore then I am trying to find a substitute for it.
So I thought about creating an option for the final user: he/she can choose exporting data into Microsoft Excel, and user does what he/she wants, creating a customized graphic. Exporting into Excel works finely, with no problems at all - I could find a routine by searching on the web.
My goal was to use the same queries created above to export data dinamically to Microsoft Excel, and I absolutely don't want to rewrite all these dinamically created queries - one which works dinamically, other with no flexibility inside my form. Worse than it, I have many other dinamically created queries, and I obviously don't want to rewrite them all - any maintenance in this form would be terrible, with each SQL instruction written twice.
Since all dinamically created SQL instructions are stored inside a VARCHAR2 variable, I thought about reusing the same SQL, as explained above - and here we have your suggestions about using a ref cursor, execute immediate, and so on. And (answering Andreas) query structure is always based on the same table, but its structure changes a lot, depending on what the final user chooses in a drop-down list (it's a list of graphics options, where final user chooses one option, and form must mount SQL dinamically, based on user's choice).

[4.1EA2] Ctrl-click unreliable in PL/SQL editor

When opening the body of a package, a procedure invocation may or may not be clickable (and the "goto declaration" menu entry be available or not).
Just changing the case of the call (even if it does not match the case of the actual declaration) seems to "fix" the problem.
I have had cases where the contextual meny entry is not greyed out while the text in the editor buffer is not underlined (but clicking the context menu entry leads you nowhere)
I have also observed a case where several "calculating breadcrumbs..." threads were active at the same time, for the same package, seemingly endlessly.
I am on Win7 64bits using the embedded JDK (1.8.0_40)

If you're going to section off keyboard shortcuts per editor type then it seems like you should be able to re-use them, like CTRL-Shift-' can be the same in both the SQL Worksheet and the code editor.
Also, just UPPER CASE on the code editor is not near as useful as To UPPER/lower/InitCap available on the Worksheet and Other screens.
Few other points here
I bound the to Upper Case to CTRL-Shift-; and if I do it with a large package open, the text changes, but then my CPU spikes and I have to kill SQL Dev to get it to stop. This is without a connection even open.
To UPPER in the code editor changes EVERYTHING TO UPPER. The previous UPPER/lower/InitCap didn't change strings or comments and maybe other bits. Comments I can probably live with, but changing the case of all strings in pl/sql can wreck a whole package and I can't think of a case I'd ever want that to happen.

Assuming I understand your question correctly, you can use a REF
CURSOR to which you associate a VARCHAR2 which is the query text:

Flashing text cursor not visible on portion of screen

I've searched all over the internet, and no one has a correct answer for this problem. Apparently the issue has been happening since as far back as CS2. The flashing text cursor is only visible in the upper left hand portion of the screen. If the text your are attempting to edit is on the far right or bottom of the screen, the cursor vanishes. Some people have suggested zooming in and out, but this only appears to solve the problem because the art board may get nudged into the "good" portion of the screen. I did a screen shot and found that the cursor is only visible in about a 930p x 600p area of the window (not including toolbars). Incindentally, the is the same size that the window defaults to when initially opened. On a HD monitor, this amounts to a very small space. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

You're not going to like me for this but it is intended to help you.
The idea that there is "Nothing on my system should have any effect on the Adobe software," is not a good concept, if you or I were engineers we might, and I mean might be able to determine that to be so.
But even a software engineer might not be able to determine this uunoess the did some trouble shooting.
Let me ask you a few question that help pinpoint a problem. Do you do any gaming on your system? Do you hsave any utility software installed? Any free fonts or fonts from small software developers?
Perhaps it is just the preferences which ahve to be refreshed.
1. Quit Illustrator.
2. Rename the AIPrefs file (for example, to AIPrefs.old) in the Users/(user)
/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder.
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
But it sounds like a conflict to me.

The text cursor disappeared

If your cursor is missing in Pages, I would suggest switching to a different application and then back to the Pages app. If the cursor is still missing, save your document, quit the Pages app, and then relaunch it again.

Trouble with text messages going to the wrong person

I have four family members all on the same Apple ID account. Text messages are going to the wrong people when sent among family members. Text A going to B ends going to C. Not sure what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been experiencing this issue for the last few weeks and it is extremely annoying. I've called Verizon 7 times and have gotten nothing but the run around. What's even more annoying is hearing them say there will be a software coming out to correct the problem but they don't know when. I'm very disappointed in Verizon. I've been with them for many years. They were my first and only carrier. I will definitely not be taking this lying down. I'm going to get a resolution, and if that means leaving Verizon, then so be it. And if anyone from Verizon is reading this, PLEASE DO NOT offer up another apology. I don't want another apology, I want this issue to be corrected, NOW!!

Droid Bionic text messages going to wrong people

I have had my Droid Bionic for several months now. It is not rooted and I don't download tons of apps on my phone. I don't use netflix to watch movies or download music. The apps I have are mainly to help me with work. So I'm not app happy just downloading things non stop. This is why I'm confused and irritated. My Bionic has started sending text messages to the wrong people! I had this issue with my Droid X which is why I switched to the Bionic, hoping that after all these years of making smart phones motorola, google and verizon would put a phone out there that actually works like it's supposed to. How much practice do these phone companies need to get their OS right? I don't mind paying a lot of money for something that will make my life a little easier but I get very irritated paying a lot of money for something that doesn't work the way it's supposed to...and at the most inappropriate times. The Bionic has gone from helping to adding to my daily hassles. Is anyone else having issues with text messages going to the wrong people on their Bionics? Have you found a way to fix it? I'm also getting error messages that just started about a week ago...com.motorola.main.service has stopped and then a option to forceclose. The tech support person at Verizon sounded like he had never seen a smart phone before and gave me the Verizon standard technical reply..."do a factory reset". I should not have to reset anything on a NEW Phone! Why don't you fix these problems Google, Motorola and Verizon and in a timely manner?! I know for a fact if I didn't pay for my phone as promised or pay my bill as promised I would suffer the consequences immediately! How to read a whole text file into a pl/sql variable?

Hi, I need to read an entire text file--which actually contains an email message extracted from a content management system-- into a variable in a pl/sql package, so I can insert some information from the database and then send the email. I want to read the whole text file in one shot, not just one line at a time. Shoud I use Utl_File.Get_Raw or is there another more appropriate way to do this?
