4 lines following my mouse & odd screen colours

I have a G3 running 9.2 and at startup the mouse cursor has 4 vertical lines beside it about 1" long and follow it around. Also the colours on the screen are odd. It is not the monitor as it works fine on my other G3. Any ideas?

Small Black Vertical Lines follow my mouse pointer AND surround all ICONS on my desktop. I just turned on my computer and it showed like this. I already tested my monitor and it's not the monitor.

Looking at websites, it's fine the display but any icons and my pointer and things that move have these lines following! Looking at VIDEO, it's the picture is full of white and black lines though you can see the video just fine.

I am in Safe Mode now: This is the weirdest thing: A bit from column A AND B:
The display is perfect EXCEPT for two parallel lines of 17, 3 millimeter-long black lines that follow the pointer everywhere it goes.
Get this: my current display is 1024x768, but when I change it to 640x480, the pointer and everything is perfect! (of course, I can only see a fraction of my desktop)
But then again... when I zoom in and out holding down control (in 640x480) the pointer lines appear again, but less lines. They disappear when I re-reset it to 640.
Strange.
But yeah, safe mode is NEAR perfect with the except of the cursor lines. I can screen grab my cursor though to show...

TS1538 iPad not turning on. Vertical colored lines followed by a black screen. Help!

My iPad is a little less than a year old. While playing a game on my iPad, multicolored vertical lines appeared across left side of iPad followed by a black screen. After a few seconds the screen flicked back on....then a few more vertical colored lines and completely black screen again. Initially when pushing home button I heard Siri but after attempting several times to restart iPad, soon I no longer heard Siri and screen was just completely black and iPad seems to be dead. Battery was at 60%. I attempted to plug into wall and charge anyway, but that did nothing. I also attempted to plug into iTunes but iPad screen remains black and isn't recognized by computer or iTunes. (No apple logo shows up...nothing) Resetting by holding home button and reset switch for 10 seconds isn't working...I tried over and over holding both buttons for way over 10 seconds. Please help....is it dead? Anything else I can try on my own?

Booting in safe mode is the only way to use it but the system can't do much and it's really slow.
From my findings it's for sure a GPU or VRAM issue so I've just bought a spare GPU board to replace the fault one.
Reballing could also solve this issue but usually you need also a new ATI GPU as well.
I'm not sure about nVidia GPU but it seems that you can replace it with a more powerful ATI Radeon HD 6970M card (if you use games to take advantage of it).
Your post is one year old and probably you already solved the issue so would be nice if you could share your solution for it.

Pink & White Vertical Lines followed by a blurred screen iMac(A1312).

Hello everyone, I have a iMac(A1312) since over 3 years now and hence not under warranty.
The problem is it displays white and pink lines on the screen with an apple logo:

I've gone the forums which state this is common problem for a lot of PC's apple shipped out during the 09-10 period,
however my Mac is not under warranty anymore. So Apple support told me that it's not covered under the replacement program.
I've been fleeced at my local apple store a couple of times for something I later realized was a very small problem, so I would like to replace it myself.
While I'm certain this is a GPU problem and would most likely be fixed if I just swapped it with a new one, I want to make sure if it is exactly that.
I don't want to be in a situation where I pay a bomb for a GPU and still do not end up fixing the problem.
Also, Is it possible to use any nVidia GPU (As is the case with Windows PC's, where just about any GPU works) or do I have to look for a Mac specific/compatible one?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I try to delete these extra insertions, but the mouse will not release the clip.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.
So thanks! Problem solved!

My MacBook Pro keeps crashing. Lines appear everywhere on the screen and then the computer turns off followed by a repetitive set of 3 beeps. HELP!!

Lately my macbook has been acting up severely. It keeps crashing by displaying a screen of 3 lines followed by a shut down and a repetition of 3 beeps.It works fine up until this happens. Weird lines follow mouse cursor... (PICS)

I have a iMac 2.4Ghz and it has weird lines that follow the mouse cursor at all times. Does anybody have suggestions as of what it could be? Computer is out of warranty.

Before concluding it is hardware related (which is possible), I would start up from a different system (such as your Mac OS X installation disc). If that makes the problem go away, you can try to further isolate the cause by booting normally and creating a new admin user account using System Preferences Accounts pane.

Log out and log in to the new account. In the new account, do you see this problem. Since the new account uses default user preference settings (and does not have any third-party background processes), if the problem goes away, there must be something in your normal user account that is the cause.

Odd Screen Rendering Issue

Hello,
My iMac is displaying an odd screen rendering error that I so far have not been able to resolve. There is a black line that runs over 2" along the bottom right corner of the display. It does not appear when on the grey Mac boot screen, but shows up after log in. I tried to take a screenshot using CMD+OPTION+4 and the line does not show up. If you look closely at the picture attached you will see that the mouse cursor renders over the line.
I have all the latest updates installed. This iMac is also out of the AppleCare Warranty period.
Any recommendations on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated. I work in IT, so don't hold back on the technicalities.

As others have said, this feature is called "screen zoom". Hold down the control key and scroll up or down on your mouse to zoom in or out. Right now you are zoomed in. This also works on the trackpad.
If you don't want that feature enabled you can go to system preferences>mouse and uncheck "screen zoom" there.

HT201412 did a software update and now the only thing I get is the itunes logo and arrow pointing up and a lock symbol with a line going down toward the screen button. Any suggestions to get this to open?

Macbook pro 15" retina, display flickers, weird lines follow cursor

Just got this MacBook Pro on Christmas... Installed Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator today. Later in the day the display became very discolored; vertical and horizontal "shaded" lines follow the cursor, areas above open windows are discolored (lighter), and the screen flickers when typing. I did the software update and have restarted the system, but it is still having issues. Does anyone know of a fix, short of getting into an Apple Store or scheduling a call with Apple?

Nope - it sounds as if you've GPU issues and the discrete GPU is soldered onto the logic board. take your new machine into your local Apple Store for a replacement. Don't wait too long!

BADI to modify the line items display in MIRO screen.

Hello All,
I am looking for a BADI to make some changes in the MIRO transaction.
I am looking for following changes there:
After entering the amount and the other details in MIRO screen if we press 'Simulate' button, we get the tax, amount and other details in a pop-up screen.
I want to change the line items in the popup screen and add 1 more line item to it.
I found out a BADI "INVOICE_UPDATE" for the same but i am not sure how far it will be of use in this regard.
Moreover there are no export parameters in this BADI, so will it make any modifications in the pop-up screen?
Could one of you please give me the answers to following questions in regard to above description:-
1) Suggestions to make carry forward the above mentioned changes
2) How to make sure if the BADI 'INVOICE_UPDATE' is apt for above scenario or not
3) How to start with the implementations for the same if this BADI is the apt for the required changes

Program Logic for showin number of red lines on the o/p screen?

I have an output list wherein I am settin clours on the output screen based on certain conditions like if say 2 values in my final internal table doesn't match then I am settin the colour to red also green is set.
My requirement is that I want to show the total number of red lines on the o/p screen .
How can I do that?

Only wallpaper and mouse on screen!

I have a mac mini (not Intel based) and I made the hard disk "not access" to me and to administrator too! Then, first the applications trying to run had a "?". I could not take back the privileges on the hard disk and reboot the mac. Now mac is opening but I now have only the wallpaper and the mouse on screen! I tried to boot from installation cd but I cant!
Pressing "C" during starting up does not make the system boot from the CD! Tried the "shift" during start up too but again an empty wallpaper and a mouse I can move... What should I do?

Glad you are able to boot.
Before attempting to re-install the OS, try this.
Select the Macintosh HD icon.
Get Info (Command + i)
Go down the list to Ownership & Permissions.
Set is as follows:
You can: Read and Write
Click on arrow to expand Details
Click padlock and authenticate
Owner: system
Access: Read & Write
Group: admin
Access: Read & Write
Others: Read only
Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left column and First Aid in main column.
Click Repair Disk Permissions at bottom left.
After doing this in any software was trying to run from the dock appeared a question mark!
If the question marks persist in the dock, just click and drag them off the Dock. Open the Application in the Applicationns Folder. Click and Hold on the icon in the Dock. A menu will pop up. Select Keep in Dock.
