64 bit JVM on Standard Edition of 8.0.1
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb403277&sliceId=1#_Toc193176416
http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/pdfs/cf8_systemsupportmatrix.pdf
You have to have CF Enterprise before you can use a 64 BIT
JVM. I am very disappointed that the bean counters at Adobe made
this choice. I have 4 standard edition CF servers Iand all are on
64 bit hardware since our company buys nothing but 64 bit hardware
for consistency. I cannot convince anyone to pay the HUGE cost
difference for CF Enterprise. Yes, I know I am just complaining
here.
My dear friend,
You understood java docs incorrectly. That say that if you specify -d64, -server
is implicit, not the other way.

Has anyone run the 64-bit JVM (-d64) on Solaris 8 or 9?
1.4.1

1.4.2
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-solaris-64.html
Support tells me BEA has not certified WLS for use with the 64-bit JVM.
However,
according to the following link the -server option is implicit to using
the 64-bit
JVM:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/solaris/java.html
======================
-d32
-d64
Specifies whether the program is to be run in a 32-bit or 64-bit environment.
On Solaris these correspond to the ILP32 and LP64 data models, respectively.
The
-d64 option may only be used on 64-bit Solaris systems.
Currently only the Java HotSpot Server VM supports 64-bit operation,
and the "-server"
option is implicit with the use of -d64. This is subject to change in
a future
release.
If neither -d32 nor -d64 is specified, the default is to run in a 32-bit
environment.
This is subject to change in a future release.
======================
If BEA does not officially support the 64-bit JVM on either 1.4.1 or
1.4.2, then
why do the default startup scripts coming with WLS 8.1 sp2 (startWebLogic.sh,
comm_Env.sh) allow for the use of the -server option, which, according
to Sun's
docs, means you are using the 64-bit JVM?
If anyone has used the 64-bit JVM, what kind of performance gain, if
any, are
they seeing?
Thanks for any help.

USB Controller Driver (3.0) for Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition 32-bit
Hi,
I have recently built a HP DL320e Gen8 v2 server with Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition 32-bit & it's missing the USB Controller Driver which HP don't have. I have searched endlessly online without success. HP suggest I try Windows but I couldn't

Can somebody please provide me with the USB Controller Driver for Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition 32-bit?

PuneetYou need to contact Microsoft's Activation Center and talk to someone. The phone numbers for reaching them are on the activation page you go through when trying to activate manually. Apparently the activation code you have is not 'ok', and only
Microsoft can help you with that.
A second thought is where did you get the media? If not from a reputable Microsoft source, then it could be the copy you have is a pirated copy with a key that Microsoft has deactivated. Again, only Microsoft can tell you.

Hello,
I installed SDK1.3.1 update 16 on a computer with the operating system Microsoft Server 2003, Standard Edition.
The JAVA_HOME variable was NOT automatically created as part of the installation. So I created it myself.
I installed a voice recognition browser afterwards (that requires JDK1.3.1 update 06 or later) and it could not detect that the appropriate JDK had been installed and/or the JAVA_HOME variable had been set correctly.
Is it normal for the JAVA_HOME variable to not be created automatically? If this is not normal, what could be the problem and how can I rectify it? Again I need a version of JDK 1.3.1 for the browser to work.
Thanks,
BonnieHi Bonnie
Maybe a bit late to comment, but for the record...
I just tried to install JDK1.3.1 on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 (version 5.2.3790) server.
I initially tried to install 1.3.1_13, but java -version failed quietly with following error in eventvwr logs:
Faulting application java.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module jvm.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000bc1f8.
The application, C:\jdk1.3.1_13\jre\bin\java.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 03/30/2006 @ 08:47:35.425 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6D4DC1F8 (jvm!gHotSpotVMIntConstantEntryValueOffset)I tried uninstalling and reinstalling JDK from Add|Remove Programs, but without success.
I then tried 1.3.1_8 and it worked fine first time.
I then tried 1.3.1_12 and it failed with this eventvwr message
Faulting application java.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module jvm.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000bc1f8.
The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6D4DC1F8 (jvm!gHotSpotVMIntConstantEntryValueOffset)The 1.3.1 documentation that I've read doesn't explicitly mention support for Server 2003.
In contrast, 1.4 explicitly supports Server 2003.

How do I search the downloaded Java? Platform, Standard Edition 6 API?
I am a newbie to Java (I had done some limited programming in C ++ years ago). I have downloaded the Java? Platform, Standard Edition 6 API Specification, and can view this in my Firefox browser. How can I search to certain classes in this documentation easily? For instance, if I want to ding out all of the operations available for String or System.out, etc, , is there a way that I can type in System.out, or String somewhere, and get a list of what is available?
ThanksBrian_Rohan wrote:
Here is the code that I compiled and it worked:Yeah, "args" there isn't part of the API. It's the name of the variable that is the first parameter to the main method defined there.
The stuff between the parentheses is a list of declarations of local variables that form the parameter list to that method, to put it technically.
The thing that's part of the API is the class String. In "String[] args", the bit on the left is the type of the variable, and the bit on the right is name of the variable. A name of something you define like that wouldn't be in the API. However, the name of the class String is.
If you look at the import statements, you'll see if the name "String" is actually shorthand for a class defined elsewhere. There's this:
import java.util.*;So you can know that "String" is either defined in the java.util package, in the "helloworld" package (which also wouldn't be in the API because you're defining in there using the package keyword), or in java.lang. (The "java.lang" package is automatically imported.)
You could look in the API docs for java.util.String or java.lang.String to find the class definition. But I'll save you the time by letting you know that it's actually java.lang.String.
Again I am new at this, what would args.length be?You'll see that the type of the "args" variable is "String[]". That means that it's an array of String objects. (The [] means arrays.) Arrays all have a field called "length". This also is part of the language, not the API, so it would be in a language guide, not the API.
The value of args.length would depend on how you ran your program. When you run a program on the command line like this:
java HelloWorldor this:
java HelloWorld foo bar bazThe java virtual machine takes all the things after the class name and sticks them in an array of String. Then it looks for a static method named "main" in the HelloWorld class, and passes it that array. So in the first case above, args.length would be zero, and in the second case it would be three.
By the way, when you post code, please wrap it in code tags. Highlight it, then click the "CODE" button above the text input box.

Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary has stopped working
Does anyone ever put ODAC10203x64.zip into Windows Server 2008 x64? I hit the error:
Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary has stopped working
Ming ManHi Mark,
Let me get you more details.
I have Windows Server 2008 x64 running with Visual Studio 2008 installed.
For Oracle, I have cleared all my previous installation and even deleted all the folders for previous installation of ODP.NET. After that I only installed the Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.4) from the link you gave (I installed all the components) :
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10204_winx64_vista_win2k8.html
I have Oracle Database 11g running on VMWare on Windows XP 32 bit.
When I run my WinForm application using code so far so good. I extract data from the HR schema and put them in listbox, perfectly no error.
But when I am trying to create by Add New Data Source... then I hit the:
Attempt to load Oracleclient libraries threw BadImageFormatException. This problem will occur when running in 64 bit mode with the 32 bit Oracle client components
Hope that can give you a better idea.

Install cf8 standard edition with remote apache?
I am interested in installing cf8 standard edition on a stand
alone server on a windows (win2003 standard 64 bit) box. An Apache
web server (centOS 5) and a mysql will be another two separate
servers.
So, I am wondering if this infrastructure is OK? I never
tried them like this. I'd appreciate if anybody may share practical
experience. Thanks.Have you had any luck with this? I'm pursuing a similar
configuration. It should be pretty straight forward since this is a
pretty normal set up, but the doc is limited.
It doesn't help that the connector for Apache seems to be
buried in the Linux install, which doesn't help when CF server was
installed on a Windows box. Am I missing something? -
