7344 with the incremental encoder

Hi
The system uses the 7344 control and UMI7764 with the incremental encoder feedback. Before the system is power off, I want to record the value of the encoder to the flash ROM of the 7344. Then next time,  I can read  this value to know exactly the status of the system when it is power on.
But the question is that it doesn't work when I try to solve this with the Object Management nodes. So, will you please give me some instructions or maybe some example code like this?
      Thanks in advance!

Could anybody please give some instructions?
Thanks!

    Hello,
I still have a problem with the encoding. In fact, I'm trying to reuse the Sample Code for iphone here [SeismicXML |http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/SeismicXML/index.html] to parse a XML document.
I have a problem with it when using the encoding ISO-8859-1 for the XML Document.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    The text showing isn't correct.
Do you guys have any idea about it?
    Thank you,

I'm having difficulty with some large Windows Media Files--200 to 300 MB--using the CS4 Media Encoder to encode into FLV. Is there a file size limit for source files? I moved the files locally to remove any network issues. If this is not the correct forum, pelase advise.

  • NI Motion with incremental encoder and precise position

I am currently working on a project that requires me to get the precise position (mesure) with an incremental encoder with 2 channels A and B. I am Using NI Motion, NI UMI-7774,NI PCI 7550, and Labview 10

    That should work!

  • What hardware do I need to monitor the signal from an incremental encoder?

We are trying to implement a feeding
solution for one of our cutting machines and I’m not quite sure how to proceed.
I have attached a document from the NI website that outlines exactly what we are
trying to do but does not go into detail on any of the concepts like programming
    and implementation.
    1.) We have a NI DAQPad-6015
connected to a SC-2345 which has one SCC-CTR01 module installed.  Which this
configuration can we read the incremental encoder signal and use to setup our
cutting machine as outlined in the attached document?  If not what is the
minimum amount of hardware we need to sample the signal from the incremental
encoder and obtain both the direction and magnitude of the
    movement?
2.) If we wanted to use the
information obtained from the encoder and subsequently send a signal to a
stepper motor controller or perhaps a PLC what additional hardware would be
    needed.
    Thanks,

    Incremental Encoder Example.pdf ‏94 KB

    Hi Chris,
    For quadrature encoder measurements your
hardware is not the ideal equipment. The 6015 doesn't provide X4
decoding. That means, that the board counts only one raising edge of
one phase. Still, if you connect phase A and B to the counter inputs,
it will count up and down, depending on the direction of the axis, but
as already mentioned, you will loose 75% of the available resolution. Here is some more information about this topic.
The document that you are referring to recommends a PCI-6624
and this is in fact a much better option. This board provides X4
decoding and isolated inputs not only for phase A and B but also for
the Z-index (not available for the 6015).
If you need a USB-solution and if you can work with TTL voltages, you might have a look at the USB-6218, that provides isolated I/Os.
For motion control there are various options. E. g. you could use an NI motion control device like the PCI-7332,
but there are also options to communicate with external motion
controllers through CANopen, RS232 or various fieldbusses. Depending on
the solution that you choose, you may need a bus interface that
provides support for your programming software.
    I hope that helps,

  • How do i use my NI 6216 daq to find a angular position of an incremental encoder

i have a ni 6216 daq baord and an incremental encoder (i dont know the pulses per revolution of encoder). How do i write a labview code to get the angular positon of a motor wihch is interfaced with the encoder. How can i know the pulses per revolution of the incremental encoder.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
My name is Thomas and I am an application engineer at National Instruments.
I looked through some of the information we have on file for incremental encoders and found a couple of documents that may be of help to you.
Follow this link for some general documentation on setting up an incremental encoder to measure the angular position of your motor.
Follow this link for some example code off of which to build your application.
As you alluded to, we are going to need to know at how many pulses per revolution your encoder runs. Which encoder are you using? With a bit of research we can hopefully learn the specifications for your specific encoder.
    Best Regards,
    Thomas B.

  • Playback issues from files compressed using the Divx Encoder

    Hey there,
As the title implies, Im trying to edit Hypercam screen capture footage that was compressed with the Divx encoder it comes with.
The footage then gets exported to an .avi format, and in windows it plays fine, HOWEVER, when I import the footage into premiere, all manner of horrible things happen, I have imported different footage encoded to the same format with no issues however. Has anyone else had an issue similar to this?
    the Rig:
    2.4 quad core
    3 gbyte of ram
nvidia 8800 gts driver vers 182.xx
    Thanks

If it is possible to NOT use the DivX CODEC, jump at that opportunity. It is a delivery format, pure and simple, and is not meant to edit, and does not edit well.
Eddie's links will cover converting, but quality will be very poor.
When faced with this CODEC, I use DigitalMedia Converter (~US$50), and it handles it fine. It just does not improve the quality, one iota. If there is no way around DivX (or Xvid), I can recommend the above. One must have the DivX CODEC (free) installed, but it sounds like you do. BTW, per Eddie's link, you WILL want to convert to DV-AVI Type II with PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit Audio. Again, you will need the MS DV CODEC installed, but most systems have this already.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How to generate sequence no increased with an increment in o/p file name

    Hi all,
I am doing a file to file scenario in which my output file name consists of a sequence number which is increased by fixed increment.i  thought of proceeding with variable substitution by writing one udf involving Dynamic Configuration object (the udf describd in Micheal blog). However my problem is that i am unable to generate the sequence number with a fixed increment .plz guide me how to proceed to achieve the desired output filename with sequence number.
    For ex:o/p file name:chxx.bcdtspd.00000002.<datetimestamp>.dat
                                  :chxx.bcdtspd.00000003.<dattimestamp>.dat
The scenario is FTP so we cant use addcounter.Plz help as its urgent.

    Hi,
    What you can do is.
U have to use the counter which increment everytime ur mapping is executed.
Steps which needs to be followed.
    1) Maintain one table at R3.
    2) Pass the control to R3 and update the table value with one.
    3) For the second time fetch the counter value from the table and add 1 to it and again update the table with the increment value.
    4) pass the incremented value to XI and use that counter value for ur file name.
Here u have to always pass 1 value to R3.
The method is called as lookup.

  • Is 'feed per rev' axis to spindle interpolation possible with the 7344?

Just evaluating the NI-7344 motion controller for a machine tool application. Whilst axis to axis interpolation functions are well described, it is unclear if it would be possible to synchronize an axis with a continuously rotating spindle. My application would have a rotary spindle drive (under closed loop control) continuously running at around 3000rpm, with TTL encoder feedback. There would then be a single linear axis programmed to move at say, 0.2mm per rev of this spindle, to create a fine 'spiral' on the part. A change of spindle speed would not affect the pich of the spiral. Searches brought up helical interpolation but I think this would not work with a continuously running rotary axis. Any advice welcome. Thanks,                                             Chris.

    Hi Chris,
Could I clarify, would you want the spindle drive driven by the card as well or is this externally driven?  What is your other motor e.g. servo or stepper?  How do you plan to drive this?
I forsee two scenarios on here:
    1) If they are both from the same card then effectively what you want is a 2 axis linear move e.g. axis 1 = k*axis 2 and we should be able to do this with the 7344.
    2) If the spindle is driven elsewhere and we are driving a stepper motor we could use a counter card to generate x number of pulses to control the stepper per pulses seen from the encoder.  This would be a less intelligent motion system but I believe should work.
    3) If the spindle is driven elsewhere and we are driving a servo then this will be trickier.  Depending on the drive you have we would have to look at what signals we need to produce for this.

  • Setting the page encoding with an extension

    Folks:
    DW CS3 on MacOS 10.6.x
I  have a lot of legacy files encoded in ISO Latin-1 --and some exception cases in other encodings-- and I'd like to  convert uniformly to UTF8.  It's sufficient to convert files one-by-one  as I work on them for other reasons, so I'm thinking of adding this via the _onOpen  or _beforeSave mechanisms.
Most of the files have no header as they are headerless-html snippets  that will be included by a CMS, which provides its own header .  As I  understand the applicable HTML standard, only one set of headers is allowed. (Is "headerless-html snippet" the best term? If not, what is?)
Here's the manual method I use:   Open a file,  manually mouse to Modify --> Page Properties --> Title/Encoding to see  the current encoding. Then, if necessary, change the encoding via the  pull-down.  Click "OK" and do File --> Save, and it's done.   Although there are no visible changes to the file content, files I alter this way seem to be detected as UTF-8 encoded by DW and by other programs. (That's a different discussion.)
It  should be possible to do this automagically, or at least  semi-automagically. (e.g. Alert("This file is not encoded as UTF-8. Do you  want to correct this?");)
The DW CS3  API Reference gives this call:
       dom.getCharSet()
so I know how to test the current encoding.
But  I cannot figure out how to change the encoding.   Am I just missing  something in  Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 API Reference and Adobe Dreamweaver CS3: Extending Dreamweaver?   It is a huge amount of info. Or am I missing something fundamental about  how DW groks html and deals with encoding?
I've looked  around for example code snippets.  The first step would probably be to  call "dom.getCharSet()" and test the return value,  but I haven't discovered anything by searching  for this.
Can anyone direct me to a tutoria or reference section on changing the document encoding, or a relevant code snippet?
Note:   It seems possible that I'm generally confused about encoding and how DW handles encoding.  If so, please treat this as a simple question by someone who is seeking to learn how to write DW extensions with a specific task in mind.   I've never seen any harm resulting from my manual method of setting my headerless-html snippets to be UTF-8 encoded.   If I learn how to do the same thing through the API, at least I'll have learned more about developing extensions.     I'd be glad to discuss encoding and how DW handles encoding--but that's a completely separate discussion, for another forum.
    TIA,
    hen3ry

Insert a blank "Formatted Text" field on the far left, and shrink it down as much as you wish. Then insert your normal text field to the right of that.
