802.11 Java Libraries

Understanding that I can use standard socket libraries to connect to TCP networks that exist over 802.11, Bluetooth or standard ethernet devices, I was wondering if there exists a Java library for wireless cards that can be used (or has methods) to detect (sniff) for 802.11 networks. If so, where do I find this library? Thank you.

  • Newbie question abount managing java libraries

    Hello all,
    I'm rahter new to Java and have a question about how to manage java libraries in a central location. I've been told to use Maven, but I don't need/want to use it.
    I'm only asking a way to have centralized the different Java libraries that a Developer Team may use in a form that they could download to their PCs and use in their projects, thinking in a free IDE environment where could be JDeveloper, NetBeans and Eclipse in use.
    I'm thinking in use Subversion to upload the different Java libraries files to a Subversion Repository and then each Developer Team doing a checkout of what they need, but I think it's not the primary use to do with the versioning system.
    Please, could somebody point me out if there is any product that could fit my needs about managing Java libraries ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Angel.

    - limit the set of packages to those which have been approved by the processYou can constrain Maven to only use an internal repository from which to pull libraries. If you don't put the libraries in the repository you can't use them in your project.
    - limit the packages by licenseI don't think there's anything built in to do this. There's a space for that information in the pom (metadata) file though, so it would be possible to do so. You'd probably have to do some work on the repository to bring ensure the fields was populated though - I get the impression that it tends not to be by default.
    - produce audit logs of what the dependencies and licenses used by each project isDependencies yes, certainly. Licenses again I don't think there's anything existing but you could probably adapt the dependency plugin to report this.
    Example dependency tree generated by Maven for JA-SIG CAS:

  • Importing third-party java libraries

    I have just downloaded jakarta httpclient and am trying to get it to work with a program I am writing. Are there instructions somewhere on importing third-party libraries? I've searched these forums, the tutorials, and even google and haven't found any. Or can someone just tell me how to do it?
    Basically I have a folder with a list of java files. I run javac program.java to compile and then java program. The one thing I have seen in these forums is about setting the classpath, but no specifics on what to set it to. Basically I have a folder with the source called java. The only subfolder there is org, the next subfolder is apache, next is commons, then httpcliet, and then all the actual java files with a few other folders with the java files in them. It gives examples in the folder src which is the parent of java. In src there is a folder called examples. The relevent import statements are:
    import org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpClient;
    import org.apache.commons.httpclient.MultiThreadedHttpConnectionManager;
    import org.apache.commons.httpclient.methods.GetMethod;These are all valid files under the folder system, yet it gives me the error : package org.apache.commons.httpclient does not exist for the first 2 and package org.apache.commons.httpclient.methods does not exist.
    There are also errors resulting from it not recognizing the import statements. Can someone help me please?

    I had a choice between source and binary, if I
    download the binary, should I put the jar file inthe
    folder with the rest of my *.java files?You can, but I'd advise against it because it gets
    messy and confusing.
    Or do I have
    to put the whole folder (with the API, liscense,
    readme, etc. in it) in the same folder as MY codeor
    do I just need the .jar file? You just need the jar file. Don't unpack the jar
    file; the standard java libraries know how to deal
    with a jar file just fine.
    More-or-less standard practice would be to create a
    directory hierarchy like this:
    project_name/
    project_name/lib/
    project_name/src/
    project_name/classes/
    Put the jar files in project_name/lib. Put your java
    source files (the ones that you're creating) into
    src/, and when you compile, put the compiled class
    files into classes/ (use the -d option to javac to do
    that). When you compile and run, include both the
    classes/ directory and the jar files (note: NOT the
    lib/ directory, specify the individual .jar files) in
    the classpath.So do I need the absolute path of the .jar file? If I were to put it in the same folder as my source could I just specify as
    javac -classpath whateverjar.jar MyFile.java
    or do I have to do javac -classpath C:\my folder\my other folder\etc\projectName\lib\whateverjar.jar MyFile.java?
    Thanks

  • Are Oracle spatial java libraries redistributable?

    Hi,
    Do you have any idea about Oracle's policy on distributing Oracle Spatial Java Class Libraries? Can our software that is targeted for commercial purpose distribute it?
    We are using these SDO java libraries.
    oracle_sdo.jar
    sdoapi.jar
    sdogr.jar
    sdonm.jar
    sdotopo.jar
    sdoutl.jar
    Also if redistribution is not allowed, can our users having Oracle DB license, copy these libraries from their Oracle DB machine to the machine where our product is installed.
    Please guide us to appropriate web link on this topic. We could not get clear information by going through Oracle sites.
    Thanks in advance,
    Subrahmanyam.

    Go to: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/spatial/index.html
    Then click one of the downloads and you get the "Oracle Technology Network Development and Distribution License Terms". The second box covers the distribution license.
    I'm sure that its covered in there .... Lots of Legal Mumbo-Jumbo ...... But it contains this line:
    "You may also distribute the programs with your applications to your customers."
    So it looks like "Yes" is the answer to your question !

    Is any Java libraries exist to modify Excel file and PDF file. I know about the third party libraries like Apache poi and many more. But I want to know about java libraries not the third party tools.

  • Using Java Libraries

    Hi all,
    I have a simple question. I am trying to use some j2ee's mail library with my application. It works well. I have used many things like that.
    My question is, Is this a good practice ?
    Thanks
    vinay

    Sure, the javax mail library from j2ee is very good.
    Access to a wide variety of Java libraries is one of the primary benefits of JavaFX development.
    Things to consider in choosing libraries are:
    - what is the learning curve of their APIs for you and other developers?
    - how will introducing this library impact (positively and negatively) the architecture of my solution?
    - are the features beneficial to you need?
    - how is the stability and support of the library?
    - what is the size of the library for web deployments?
    - what are the privilege requirements for sandboxed apps?
    - what are the other dependent libraries your chosen library may bring along for the ride? (beware the kitchen sink unless you need to clean the dishes)
    The learning curve and complexity some libraries introduce as well as their architectural impact is the most substantial and often the most underestimated consideration.
    Many libraries are in fact frameworks which define the format of your solution, so, in those cases, you need to be comfortable that you want the format they define.
    Sometimes less can be more. For example, using a simple small library for JSON handling over a HTTP connection for client-server communication rather than a large set of WS-* soap libraries is much simpler for developers to understand and often gets the job done easier - even though the WS-* libraries bring many more features which can look so much better on paper. Oddly enough, sometimes it takes years for developers to realize this.
    For many, many things, you'll produce a higher quality product faster with a good library than trying to build things yourself - these days the world needs to be built with more glue than wood.
    Then you turn your attention to implementing features like a great user interface or a clever google app engine mail storage interface rather than re-implementing, possibly wrongly, an smtp mail client.

  • No oci jdbc11 in java.librar.path for SQL Developer 2.1 EAI

    Just migrated my connections from 1.5.5 and tested.
    I have the one with the JDK built-in.
    I browsed to it and it comes up.
    However when I access a connection I get the below:
    no oci jdbc11 in java.librar.path for SQL Developer 2.1 EAI

    I got it to work using a BASIC call instead of my normal TNS call.
    We use MS SMS to package the Oracle client and SQL Developer and push it out to users so we don't have people visiting desktops. Also, we use OID to store the entries instead of a tnsnames file so that we don't have to maintain a TNSNAMES file.
    I am testing 2.1 as we would eventually upgrade when it goes GA.
    2.1 seems to be built on Oracle 11g. Issue will be that since 99% of our databases are 10gr2 as well as 100% of our client population will be be forced to upgrade the Oracle client to use 2.1 as we do today without lots of changes for the end user?
    We don't broadcast the information the average user requires for a BASIC connection so that is out for non technical users..
    We have SQL Developer 1.5.5 right now and this is not and issue.
    Hopefully, this will be resolved during EAI for 2.1.

  • Java Libraries for Linear Programming/ Optimisation / OR Related Topics

    Dear all,
    I am working on some applications dealing with optimisation of constraints spaces/resource.
    I will probably need to engage linear programming / optimisation techniques or algorithms to solve the problems. I wonder if anyone know of any Java libraries for purpose (trying to write my own optimisation/linear programming solving packages will require way too much effort and re-inventing the wheel).
    Many thanks!

    Hi,
    I wonder if there are more complete and comprehensive packages. I hope to find some libraries that will provide the optimal solution and at the same time with report generation facilities (i.e. sensitivity reports).
    Any ideas / advices?

  • Including external java libraries in Web Dynpro project

    I am trying to include some external jars in my web dynpro project.  By including in the project library, the web dynpro app compiles and runs fine.
    The issue is that the when I check in the project it doesnt activate in the build environment.  What is the best way to include these jars so that the project activate and compiles in the component build space?

    Hi Stephen
    There are two ways in adding the external JAR files in WebDynpro
    1) RightClick on the project - > properties-> Java Build Path - >Libraries ->Add External JAR Files
    By doing this , your jar will be available only on the local machine. if the path got changed or file got deleted , you will get errors.so to avaoid that
    2) Goto Navigation Tab - > navigate through <b>lib</b> directory and paster your .JAR file there
    By doing this your jar file will be deployed on to the sever ,so it will be available always as it is on the server

  • Creating Java Libraries (jar)

    Can anybody out there help me with java class archiving? I previously created classes and I want it to be archived in a one jar file, I was able to do the jarring of these files, the problem is I cannot access the library inside this archive from another Java program.
    Heres What I Did.
    ========================
    File1: One.java
    package abc.util;
    public class One{
    ==========================
    File2: Two.java
    package abc.util;
    public class Two{
    ============================
    I compiled these files, and it created abc/util/One.class and abc/util/Two.class
    I Made a jar file by invoking
    jar cvf MyJarFile.jar abc
    ================================================
    I used this archive into another java application
    import abc.util.*;
    public class Test{
    public Test(){
    One o = new One(); <---- {I got an error here,  "Bad Class" JBuilder Error}
    ================================================
    End of the Story :-)
    ================================================
    Ur help is very much appreciated, thanks!

    Here's an example that may help. If I have a jar located at
    C:/myworkspace/deploy/utils.jar
    Then in order for a java program to import classes from that jar, I need that to be in my CLASSPATH variable.
    Such as
    CLASSPATH=.;C:/myworkspace/deploy/utils.jar
    That's for running the program with javac. For compiling in JBuilder, I use Eclipse, but I'm sure in JBuilder there's something like "libraries" where you list the jar files for JBuilder to search through when you import.

  • Standard java libraries "do not exist"

    I'm fairly new to Java programming, and, well, programming in general. I've been building small, simple java programs for a couple of months now.
    But all of a sudden (after a short period of not coding anything) I tried to write a program with that imported a standard java library (javax.sound.midi), and on compile, got the error message "package sound does not exist." Upon trying other packages, I've found that none of them work. Not Swing, not even util. This hasn't happened before. I've written plenty of other programs that imported standard libraries with no problem. I've tried mussing with %CLASSPATH% to no avail, (namely setting it to "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\jre\lib" among other things), and at best can cause it to not be able to find java.lang anymore.
    What gives?

    error message "package sound does not exist." I question if your import statement is valid - how come the complaint is about the sound package (a non-existent package) rather than javax.sound.midi?
    I tried various invalid imports, though, and couldn't duplicate that exact error text.

  • Where to get the BusinessObjects Enterprise SDK - Java Libraries

    Hi All,
    I have installed the Crystal Report Server XI R2 but where to get the java sdk that I will use in my client j2ee web application?
    These are the folders in my CR Server directory.
    /BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5
    /Business Objects/common/3.5/java/lib
    It seems that I will get the jar from this folder but what are those jars?
    /Business Objects/common/3.5/java/lib
    What are the list of jars that my client web application used?
    Basically in doing my POC work I need these library imports
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.*"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.framework.*"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.infostore.*"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.*"%>
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rulix
    From the packages that you have included ,it seems that you are using managed RAS SDK for the functionality that you want to implement.

  • What are the Java libraries for RFID

    I need to know the Java classes implemented in RFID infrastructure for processing data and events between readers and tags?

    Hi,
    You can install the Java proxy runtime on the SAP J2EE Engine Release 6.40 SP5 or higher.
    The messaging system that the Java proxy runtime uses to send messages to the Integration Server must also be installed on the J2EE server.
    To send messages from a J2EE application, the application must be programmed against beans that encapsulate all details about the Java runtime. The following classes are generated:
    ·        Proxy classes that send or receive messages using the Java proxy runtime.
    ·        Bean classes as an outer shell that conform to the J2EE standard. The beans call the proxy classes for communication.
    The classes must be deployed on the J2EE server together with their J2EE application
    see this link for the example scenario http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f272165e-0401-0010-b4a1-e7eb8903501d
