ASAP Is any Java libraries exist to modify Excel file and PDF file
Is any Java libraries exist to modify Excel file and PDF file. I know about the third party libraries like Apache poi and many more. But I want to know about java libraries not the third party tools.
Souvik_Software wrote:
I don't know what you guys want. I simply asked for a answer and because me want it urgently that is why I have written "ASAP". But I think you are more energetic in fighting not with the answer. Thanks for the help.By flagging it with words as "ASAP" and "Urgent" your are implying that your question is more important than other people's questions or that your time is more valuable than the time of people answering questions here. So you see, by doing so, you sound rather selfish.
But, the answer to the question in your original post is: "no, there are no classes in the core Java API that do what you want". Simple.

Need to create a new spreadsheet or be able to edit the one I have.
I use this spreadsheet as a work order form for social service agencies. They enter name address etc., and then there are various work projects that they can select as well.
The one I have from the organization I work with is an excel file but it does not convert over very well. Instead of being 7 pages it is more like 11 or so because things run off the page. I am trying to delete certain things and move them over but not working out very well so thought it might be easier to start over fresh.
Is numbers the program to use? If so, any useful tips?If the form is going to be used on an iPad, Numbers is the only game in town.
Numbers is available for Macs only (and iOS devices). Excel is available for PCs and Macs. If you are in a mixed environment of Windows PCs and Macs and you are using this document as an electronic form, Excel is probably the better choice. Otherwise you will need to export to Excel for the PC users then import from Excel to retrieve their data. The import/export process is not perfect. A file that has been exported then reimported will not be the same as the original file. I would assume social services agencies are almost entirely PC-based.
If the form is to be printed or turned into a PDF for distribution and use by the social services agencies, either Excel or Numbers would do the job but right now Excel might be the better choice. I would have recommended Numbers '09 but I cannot recommend Numbers 3 for anything thsat requires printing until they give us the layout and printing functionality we used to have (editing in Print View, ability to set margins, etc).
If everything else in your department/operation/agency is Windows PC and Microsoft Office based, you would be better off sticking with the standard.
I hope that helps. -
Export to excel in a webdynpro java app to store a excel file on the server
Hi Experts,
We have a requirement wherein we need to implement the export to excel functionality in a webdynpro java application.
The excel file created in this way should be stored in the server location.
I've implmented the export to excel functionality before but the file used to get stored on to my local desktop. But this time, I want the file to get stored on some portal server location.
Can anyone guide me with the steps for the same?
It would be really great if you can tell me what to change in my code for this new functionality as I've already implemented this functionality to store the file on my local desktop before.

Any way to export table to excel file with leading 0s?
I have to export about 50 excel files from different tables. Some tables contain leading 0s in the columns. If I use bcp to export to xls file, the leading 0s will be missing. If bcp to csv or txt file, there will be no issue at all. But I have to export to xls file in order to let client update that xls file and reload to tables again.
Is there any other ways to do this task?
Thanks in advance.Ok, I played with it and fixed it on mine to work.
Here is what you do. Create a blank Excel file in Excel with a single header row with your column names in it, and then set the datatypes for each column in Excel to match your export type. For the below, create an Excel file and in column A1, put "Name" and change the column to Type Text. Then in B1 type Date and set it to type Date, then save the file as c:\Test.xls. Then close the file in Excel.
In SSMS execute the following:
Code Snippet
INSERT INTO OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
'Excel 8.0;Database=C:\test.xls;HDR=YES',
'SELECT Name, Date FROM [Sheet1$]')
SELECT [Name], GETDATE() FROM msdb.dbo.sysjobs
GO
It worked perfectly in my environment. Don't bother with BCP, just create a formated Excel File with a header row with your output column names and then save it. -

Are there any known issues with speed between excel 2003 and 2010 when using WAAS?
Request asked by customer. Thought I would run this by the forum first.
Can you please raise a ticket with Cisco TAC asking why Excel files in 97-2003 file format cannot be fully optimized when compared to the same file being saved in the latest file format?
When using the latest file format, the user experience is amazing and up to 100x faster to open and save files. Our testing has identified an issue with the older file format.I deployed WAAS about 3 years ago. Part of the deployment was before and after testing. When the users used Office 2010 the results were good. When they used Office 2003 the results were terrible. Some files took minutes to open, some never opened. Solution was to upgrade to O2010.
Hope this helps. -

NazYou do know that the poi.apache.org site has some nice examples, don't you?

Many other examples exist on the Internet; Google is your friend.
Hope that helps, Naz.

Java Libraries for Linear Programming/ Optimisation / OR Related Topics
Dear all,
I am working on some applications dealing with optimisation of constraints spaces/resource.
I will probably need to engage linear programming / optimisation techniques or algorithms to solve the problems. I wonder if anyone know of any Java libraries for purpose (trying to write my own optimisation/linear programming solving packages will require way too much effort and re-inventing the wheel).
Many thanks!
regardsHi,
I wonder if there are more complete and comprehensive packages. I hope to find some libraries that will provide the optimal solution and at the same time with report generation facilities (i.e. sensitivity reports).
Any ideas / advices?
regards,
