8220 battery life problem

Hello everyone,
I've had my 8220 for almost exactly a year now, and for most of that time it's been great, albeit somewhat neutered by being on Vodafone pay-as-you-go. Then, sometime in November last year, I started to have problems with the battery life being quite short.
Now, I don't use my phone for much, it used to spend most of the day turned off (not complete off, just on standby) and would turn on twice a day to remind me to take some medication for a sleep disorder I have. I would have to recharge it about once a week, maybe once every 10 days. But since November I have to recharge it about once every 2 days, and that's without using it as more than an alarm clock!
I bought a new branded battery (from an Amazon UK marketplace seller, so I can't be 100% sure it's legit) and tried that, and nothing has changed. It loses a good 20-30% charge overnight, even if I use full power off. I thought at first it might be because the phone basically spent its life powering on and off without being on for very long, maybe that did something bad to the battery life over time; so now I turn the phone on when I get up and leave it that way all day until full power off before I go to sleep.
I don't have much installed, just Opera Mini and Empower Central+Task Manager (which I installed after the problems tarted to graph the battery usage)
Things I've tried:
Going through all open programs and choosing 'close' - only default programs open (messenger, browser, home screen, phone, messages) and they just re-order themselves if I choose 'close' - no change
New battery (as detailed above, from Amazon UK marketplace) - no change
Charge using mains adapter instead of USB cable - no change
Charge to 100% using mains, pull battery, wait a couple of seconds, replace, continue charging - it still said it was 100% charged after the battery pull - no change
Upgraded OS (from .155 to .305) - no change
Does anyone have any more ideas I can try to get back the decent battery life I used to have?
Is my phone faulty?
Any help or advice gratefully received!

  • IPhone 4S sudden battery life problem with iOS7

I've been hearing the rumors of iOS7 battery life problems but not experiencing them ... until today.
The battery seems to lose about 20% every hour without my really using the phone at all. No calls. No Safari. No Calendar. No email.
I stopped all applications. Still drained.
    Recharged.
I turned on airplane mode.  Still drained.
    Recharged.
I turned off application background updates. Still drained.
I am recharging now. And I have turned off location services.
Not sure what changed. In the last day I did upgrade my computer to a brand new Mac Book Pro.  Could syncing with my new computer have changed something on the phone that would have initiated this.
I installed iOS7 on the release day and haven't had this problem until today.
    Any other tips?
    -Steve

Curiously enough, the problem is gone today.
Didn't change anything that I know of.
    Turned background updating on.
    Turned location services on.
Battery life seems to be holding in a "normal" way.
    Baffled.

  • MBP 15" Retina Battery Life Problems

    Hello all!
I recently got the highest end MBP 15" Retina and it runs AMAZINGLY fast, but the only problem I'm having with is the battery life.
For example, right now, at 100% charge, the predicted time is 4 hours and 35 minutes, but it's plummeting very quickly; I don't think I'll get more than 1 or 2 hours.
On the website, the average predicted battery life is almost 8 hours. I understand that the numbers on Apple's website may not be exact, but I feel like getting a quarter or even half of the advertised battery life suggests there is something wrong as well? o-o
I'm not doing anything intensive on my computer either; just simple web browsing and chatting on Skype.
I've searched the internet for solutions, and I've already tried resetting PRAM AND NVRAM settings, I've turned off Bluetooth, and checked off all of the Power Saver settings in Preferences.
My battery's condition is "Normal" since I recently purchased it.
I'm curious if anyone has a solution to this problem? (To give an idea of how fast the battery is draining, I started writing this post with 100% battery, and now it's at 98% several minutes later)
If anyone has any advice, it'd be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advanced!

Skype is one of the most resource hungry application that one may use.  It will drain the battery very quickly.  When using it, connect your MBP to the power adapter.
Read the Apple hype regarding battery run time.  The operative term is 'UP TO' not will achieve 8 hours run time.  In the 'real world' conditions, battery run time will be determined by the number and type of applications you are using.  If you are just text editing, you may very well get 8 hours from from the battery, but certainly not with Skype games or video.
    Ciao.

  • Ipod touch 5g battery life problem?

Hi everyone, i just got thenew ipod touch 5g 32gb blue about 3 weeks ago and it runs ios 7.0.4. Now i have been thinking that i might have a bad battery because when i play games the battery runs out in labout 2 hours. i play games like wipeout and clash of clans. Also the ipod touch charges in about 45 mins from about 20 percent to 100 percent. On the apple website it said that it should take 4 hours. I use toua abelkins wall charger. Plz help me because i do not want to retuurn this ipod touch and there is no apple store near where i live. P.S. I have already tried restoring it but to no use. Also i would to know why the battery indicator goes up a lttle when i lock my ipod. Is this a ios 7 issue? I have also tried calibrating the ipod touch by letting the batery fully drain and then charging it up to 100 percent but to no avail. My freinds said that you have to completely drain your battery til auto shutdown when you first get it out of the box but i did not do that so could that bethe problem? And when the ipod auto shuts itself down the i plug in the chargers and it boots up right away, i thoutgh it was supposed to take 10 mins??? Plz help me because i love my ipod very much???!!!

Battery life on the iPod 5 running IOS 7 is well ... poor for gaming. To fully charge it takes around 4 hours +/-. The battery meter jumping around is normal, the metering system on this  iPod is at best an estimate and will vary up and down depending on how hard your working your iPod. Run games or anything with high res. video the meter jumps down, listen to music from you library or put it to sleep and the meter will go up--  And will drive you "NUTS" if you spend to much time watching it. Your game time seems a bit short, but the more stuff going on, higher graphics, using Wi-Fi etc. will drain your iPod in short order. Most seem to get about 3 - 4 hours of gaming, 4 - 6 hours of video, more if watched on lower resolution. 6 - 9 surfing the web,  something around 18 - 20 hours listening to your library with the screen mostly off and about 36 - 40 hours on standby from a fully charged battery. Don't bother with getting the meter replaced with %. It will not work any better, just make you nuts. As for the theory of drain the battery then fully charge it, Bogus! These things use Li-ion batteries, they don't have memory issues like Ni-CAD batteries. Just watch your 20% warning with the battery, thing of it as a low fuel light on your car, when it comes up charge your iPod. You never want to completely drain a Li-ion battery if you ever do it will never charge again, but they have charge protections to prevent you from doing that. Long story short; If your getting something around the use times listed above, it's normal. Goggle C-net about extending battery life many good things to try. Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • IPhone 4s ios6 battery life problem

I upgraded my iPhone 4s to ios6 at 8am this morning. By 11am I had 10% battery life left! I have no GPS apps running. Anyone else have this issue?

After looking around for a poissible solution in the settings, I noticed that the option for the Personal Hotspot was not under the General settings anymore. I went to it by selecting "General", then "Cellular" and the "Personal Hotspot" field there was hanging with the wheel turning around.
Checked it for more than 1/2 hour and still no change (wheel still turning around). Deceided then to make a reset of the iPhone and when turned it on again after some seconds the option "Personal Hotspot" was back under the General settings menu. Under the selection "Cellular" the wheel was not turning anymore and it was on "off".
I made this morning (West European time) and after that the bettery consumption went back to normal (if not even less than before). It has been about 10 hours ago and I have made couple of calls, sent couple of SMSs, kept Wifi always on and made regular checking of emails while on the road. The battery has reduced only 12% since then.
I hope this has solved the problem.

  • Does iPod (4th gen) have a battery life problem?

I have had my 4th gen iPod for less than 2 years (was a replacement after the screen was cracked. Was purchased at an actual Apple Retail store).  I am now finding that it won't hold a charge. I have tried 4 different cords (including the original cords from the original and the replacement iPod) plus 2 other iPod compatible cords and plug it in every night, only to find out that 6 out of 7 days it still reads as having a low battery (at 20% battery life). I am pretty sure it is not the cords. In addition, lately I have been getting messages about the temperature (being either too hot or too cold). I do not leave my iPod in the sun or in my car EVER, yet I've gotten messages about the battery being too hot (even when it was in an air conditioned house for several hours) and now I am getting messages about it being too cold (it is freezing outside, but the iPod has been inside and does not even feel cold to the touch).
I would update it to the new version, but it requires 50% power to do so, and I can't get enough power to it (even when it is plugged in for hours, it still doesn't show enough battery life).
I have an appointment at the genius bar next week, but thought I would ask if anyone else is having this/these problem(s) and what they did to resolve the issue  Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. I suspect a hardware problem because of the high temp warning.

  • X200 Windows7 Battery Life Problem

Hi, I have an X200 and recently installed Windows7 beta 7000 32bit. Even after getting all devices to work and installing Lenovo drivers where possible,  my battery life time never got better than about 60% of the batterylife time I had on vista.
    6 cell battery
    - around 6hrs on vista
    - less than 4hrs on Win7
Today I installed Windows7 Build 7057 64bit and after installing all the drivers, all devices are working properly, but still the same really bad battery life!
By now I really got used to Win7 user interface and improvements, I never want to switch back..... has anyone else problems like that? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    senorm

I've got an x200. I interchange two drives in it, one personal and one for work. Both are Win7 64. One is upgraded from Vista Ultimate, one is a clean install. The battery is a 9 cell, and performs about the same on both. I'm using the Lenovo Power Management on both.
I've not noticed a significant drop off of power, but what it's not perfect. Whenever the machine goes to sleep, whatever power management settings are in effect are frozen after that, until I reboot the machine. I thn again have control of the power settings until the machine again sleeps.
For example, I like running on power saver. On a clean start, with power connected, the screen is bright, and the processor is running at a higher rate. If I sleep the machine and disconnect from power, went it reawakens, it behaves as if it is still connected to power - it does not drop to the battery settings.
If I reboot at that point, then I have control of the power settings again, and the machine is on battery seetings (assuming I did not reconnect the power.) Everything functions as expected until the machine sleeps.
Given that Windows 7 is beta, and Lenovo's drivers aren't optimized for Windows 7, I'm very pleased that battery power works as well as it does. I've whined in this forum that Lenovo should be providing beta power management drivers, but the reality is at this point things work farily well.
    I recommend patience and tweaking
I'm looking forward to the Win 7 RC, hopefully we'll see more Lenovo drivers then.

  • OS Update & Battery Life Problem

I thought I would throw in my two cents worth of iPhone 4 OS update. I'm experiencing many of the same problems that other folks have reported on the discussions boards...battery draining, apps closing while using them, etc. My phone is basically rendered useless at this point. I went to the apple store and their solution was to sell me a new battery for $79.00.  I said no-way, there was nothing wrong with my phone prior to the OS update and immediately after the update is when I stared having problems, so no, it's not the battery. The apple store clerk changed the settings on my phone, changed auto-lock from 4 minutes to 1 minutes, changed all my mail accounts from push to fetch, changed locations settings and any other settings that might have an impact on battery life. It helped a little bit, but did not put the phone back to the way it was prior to the OS install.
I find it hard to believe that apple put out a product without first throughly testing it to make sure it would work on the million cellphones already out there.
I really hope apple is listening and reading the message boards because they need to come out with a fix for this problem before people dump their iPhones in search of a phone that actually works. Can you say Blackberry?
Thanks for listening to me vent.
    Kathy

I am having the exact same problem! Mine was at 80% last night before I went to sleep and was dead again for the second night in a row. I am thinking about resorting. These last few updates released have been the worst ever! I almost missed an appointment yesterday morning but luckily today is Sunday and it was dead again. Have you had any luck yet?

  • Overheating ipod touch 4g and battery life problem

my ipod touch start to overheat when i use app such as camera, madpad, other 3d games, and also when  i use apps that requires sounds...
and also the battery life of my ipod touch drains really fast.. i have my ipod touch more than a month and the first few weeks its ok.. but after a month it starts to heat up... i usually play games in 2d in 5hrs but now i can barely play for about 3 hrs or below and when i play 3d games i usually play for about 3hrs or more but now 2hrs or below with no sounds.. i thought IOS 5 could fix it but it didn't.. does anyone have the same problem?? do you think apple could repair it or replace it with a new one????

it is possible that the idevice came a little hot when you use it
its like a computer more you rush it more it become hot
for your batterie it depend on how you use your device and how you charge it by example:
do you whate until your batt is empty beffor chaging it or you charging it any time you add a chance
because if you dont drain all the batt beffor charging it, it affect te life durration and te number of time bettwen each charge
and your device setting can also affect your charge duration like:
    1. device brightnes.. at max
    2. wi-fi enable
    3. bluetooth enable
    4. sound volume
    5. ect..

  • Battery Life problem

Why my iphone very ' eat ' battery ... And when i charging is 93% but suddenly it appear become 100% ...why?

    Hey there Lau.s!
I have an article here for you that can help address your question:
    Battery life seems short
Click ( www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html) for tips on how to prolong iPhone's battery life.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.
If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.
When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this .
Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.
Note: Charging with a FireWire-based power source is not supported, except on original iPhone.
