Question

I'd like to convert the output of:
<jbo:ShowValue datasource="ds" dataitem="EndTime" >
to blank if it is null. By default returns srtring "null".
Do i have to work with view object or there is the easier way?

I'm assuming your using JDEV 9.0.4 or less with JSP.
As far as I know, you can't get the value from showvalue into a variable. ShowValue is only for display purposes. However, you can get the attribute through other means. Step one is to grab a row of the datasource (or more accurately of the rowset of a datasource). There are many many ways to do this depending on your situation.
1) Inside a RowSetIterate:
Use the jbo:Row tag set to action="active" to get the row currently being iterated withing the RowSetIterator. Set the id to a useful name (this is how you will access the row in Java).
2) From the RowKey (psuedocode):

String rowKey = request.getParameter("jboRowKey");
Row test = ds.getRowFromKey(rowKey);

3) From a primary key...(psuedocode):
<%
Row Test = ds.getRowSet().getRow(new Key(new Object{new Number (5)}));
%>
And many more.... once you have the Row, you can assign it's value (typecast) into a variable. For example, if we want employeeID(case sensitive) then we could do this:

Number empID = rowTest.getAttribute("employeeID");
