RAC DB Install - UtilityTool error message
Installing RAC database and getting the following error message half way through:
"Error in execution of additional utility tool"
It is giving me the option to continue, but am fearful it may come backup to bite me!
Has anybody else come across this?Hello,
I also ran into this problem recently and in my case it was because the $ORACLE_BASE was not writable (or didnt exist at all) for oracle:oinstall on some cluster nodes.

Random shutoff no error message
Hello,
I have a 12 month old Toshiba Satellite L50-A013 (Australian) with Windows 8.1 installed. It has started to randomly shut off without warning or any error messages upon restart.
It will function for about 30mins before shutting off. It occurs on battery and when plugged in; when I am using it, when it is idle and during sleep.
I have updated all my drivers and that had no effect. I have cleaned out any dust and have been monitoring for overheating, which has not occurred. I have reset all the power options and created my own to no avail. I have replaced the RAM as I thought that may be faulty, but that didn’t solve the problem. I have performed a simple CHKDSK and used the Intel diagnostic tool to check for errors and it came up fine. I haven’t performed a system restore as I am afraid the computer will shutoff and interrupt it.
The Event Viewer reports watchdog timer error (Event ID 13) followed by kernel-power 142 & 41 critical.
Ive been Googling for days. Any help would be appreciated.I suppose Real Audio was used, though for sometime I used Iomega to store them on zip disks. It has been a long time. For the CD's that I have on hand, I have been doing what you suggested. This is not easy, as the old files were just all together in one file, and while I thought I had changed settings so that iTunes would do the same (after learning that iTunes puts things in lots of different folders - especially confusing for me with soundtracks with different artists)the last one I did was put in folders entitled unknown/unknown with only track numbers. And if I change anything using explorer, I have to find each file for iTunes again. I'm still struggling, not understanding how these mp3 files are different in some way. Some are from the same CD's. At any rate, now that I am (found your term) ripping these CD's again, is there a way to avoid all the folders and layers of folders? Thank you for your patience. Obviously when my daughters were here to help, me being green was not a problem@

I noticed when the all caps values like FH_MEM_RSSR_RX_STATUS_REG started appearing during shutdown.
Also, I was getting rfkill device not found error messages. Seems to me some sort of race condition.

Please help: strange error message when trying to burn cds
I have been trying to burn an itunes playlist onto cds and I have never had trouble doing this before, but just this afternoon I have started getting an error message and the disc will automatically eject itself immediately following the initializing stage.
The error message I receive is this: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power for this media."
What does this mean? What can I do to fix the problem? Thank you in advance!!
(Additional information in case this is helpful: The discs are Maxwell CD-R audio cds with 700mb/80min capacity, and my itunes is version 7.3.1. The playlist is long -- spanning multiple cd lengths -- but I have never encountered a problem with that before, so I don't think that is causing the error.)Same here.Although i've had this problem since febuary of this year.
Just upgraded to 7.4 and it still does'nt work. Its not an uncommon problem, there has been hundreds of threads about this and thousands of users with the same problem, apple don't seem to want to recognise or solve the problem.Disgraceful behaviour on their part.
I've simply had enough now so i've contacted these...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tvand_radio/watchdog/contactindex.shtml
...people.Hopefully they can make apple sit up and take notice of this problem, although i have my doubts.I suggest you do the same if you to have had enough of apple's simply dreadful customer service and faulty software.
Sorry i could'nt be of any help to you but i can assure you that are not alone in this. -
Error message "ImporterProcessServer.exe has stopped working"
I imported DVD files into CS4 as MPEG2s as when I converted the DVD footage received from a client as avi files they totaled almost 300 Gigs! and that was only for 5 short DVDs of horse show footage. Anyway, imported one of the mpgs and cut out footage and slomo'd short footage in sequence. When I went to render the file, I got the error message above. Read the error message that comes up when "ImporterProcessServer" stops and make sure it is says this:
Fault Module Name: IPPMPEGDecoder.dll
Fault Module Version: 4.0.0.0
If it is this file, here is how to solve the problem.
Do a system search in the Adobe folder of your Program Files and find every copy of that .DLL file. Ignore the one in the Premiere Pro CS4 folder because that one is obviously bad.
Find one in a different folder that is the same "Module Version" as the bad one in Premiere Pro--just roll your mouse over it until it displays the version number--i really don't know if the version number matters, but just to be safe, i copied one that was the same version. I found one in the Encore CS4 folder. Then simply copy and paste this one into your Premiere Pro folder and overwrite the bad one.
And it's fixed. I couldn't believe it worked!
This might not work for everybody, but it worked for me. And I didn't have to uninstall my Suite or my OS or anything! -
Core dump when starting extract, no error messages
Hello,
This is a basic one way replication, Data Pump and Replicat start but Extract stops at once.
In ggserr.log there's only a message: EXTRACT EORATE02 starting, nothing else. In ggsci it can be seen that it's stopped.
CHECKPARAMS didn't give the message "Parameters processed successfully", neither did it give error messages
when starting the extract.
There are no old Oracle processes which could prevent Extract from starting.
There's EORATE02.pce in dirpcs, although EORATE02 is not running. If I delete it and try to start the extract,
the extract will immediately stop.
A core file has been created in GG_HOME when trying to start the extract. I haven't been able to find out how to read it.
Source and target are on Aix 6100-06. The source database is Oracle 10.1.0.5, target database is Oracle 11.2.0.3.
The installation files are V32435-01.zip for db 10.1.0.5 (ggs_AIX_ppc_ora10.1_64bit.tar), V32437-01.zip
for db 11.2.0.3 (ggs_AIX_ppc_ora11g_64bit.tar). This is GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1.
The db:s are on Asm.
There's only 1 table in source, 1 in target, they are identical and empty.
There's enough space in the OS.
If I run the extract in OS (extract paramfile dirprm/eorate02.prm), it ends like this without more information:
TRANLOGOPTIONS ASMUSER ggs_owner@HOSTNAME:1521/+ASM , ASMPASSWORD *********
Abort(coredump)
This happens in both ways of extract described below.
(1)

Could you wrap your process definitions in proper code brackets so its easier to understand.
Also I'm not sure what your problem is other then you are receiving core dumps. I'm happy to help.
Two small comment though regarding your ASM config
1 . Dont not use ggs_owner as the asm user
TRANLOGOPTIONS ASMUSER ggs_owner@HOSTNAME:1521/+ASM , ASMPASSWORD *********2. Create a TNSNAMES entry for your ASM instance and tehn use the following:
TRANLOGOPTIONS ASMUSER SYS@ASM, ASMPASSWORD *****Also here is an example of an extract process that I've setup on RAC database with ASM
EXTRACT EWFMMTLP
EXTTRAIL ./dirdat/ew
USERID GGATE@MY_DB, PASSWORD ggatehcc

Error message "ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact" during dbca
Background info: I am building a new test 11.2.0.3 RAC cluster running on IBM pSeries hardware with AIX 6.1 OS level. I need to practice building a cluster and then adding a new node later. Because of limited hardware availability, my inital cluster will have 1 node and I will add the additional node later.
I installed Grid Infrastructure successfully. GI and ASM are online and appear to be working normally. Today I installed the 11.2.0.3 database software. I am now trying to create a test database using DBCA. After entering all of the database information (SID information, where db files should reside, memory sizing, etc.) the database creation begins, then immediately issues the error message "ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact".
I have searched MOS (Metalink) and also reviewed a few sites using Google. All of the information indicates this problem occurs most often when trying to log into an existing database using sqlplus. I haven't found anything related to this error message during database creation.
Does anyone have advice on how to troubleshoot where the problem is coming from? Can you point me to some documentation that would help with this issue?
Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you!Srini,
I was verifying that I understood your request. The last install log relates to the Oracle db software installation and was created by OUI. The DBCA utility has not created any actual install logs. DBCA issues the error less than 10 seconds after I choose the "Finish" button to begin the database creation process. I also reviewed 4 notes on MOS and unfortunately they do not seem to apply. The permissions settings appear correct on all directories for both the database software owner and the grid infrastructure owner as well.
Here are the last 200 lines from the OUI install log. Thank you again for all of your help!

Oracle 9.2 RAC installation error on raw devices
During Oracle 9.2 RAC installation on Linux Red Hat 7.3 on raw devices
Database Configuration Assistant
returned the error message:
"Raw device validation check for Data File
"/dev/raw/clustdb_raw_cwmlite_100m" failed, No such file or directory".
Really this file exists, this is a link to a raw device.
How does Oracle validate the raw file?
What does this error mean?
Igor.During Oracle 9.2 RAC installation on Linux Red Hat 7.3 on raw devices
Database Configuration Assistant

"Raw device validation check for Data File
"/dev/raw/clustdb_raw_cwmlite_100m" failed, No such file or directory".
Really this file exists, this is a link to a raw device.OK, so you are saying that /dev/raw/clustdb_raw_cwmlite_100m is link to /dev/raw/raw<x> (x some number)??
If not - there is your error.
How does Oracle validate the raw file?File MUST exists (or link) AND it must be a RAW device.
You can check it by raw -qa (it should display all raw devices, with theirs major-minor pairs)
What does this error mean?

Oracle DRM v11.1.1.1.0 Error message when running a book
I am running a book export data to an Oracle table and the the error message "The following Export(s) ran with no results" and it lists all of the exports found in the book. When I run each export individually they each run to success and push the data to the expecting tables. I am not seeing anything that would be set differently to return different results. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
CharlieHi iam new to drm ,installedon my lappi, and when i try to configure,i am understanding the the pre-requisites
Oracle Database Prerequisitesl If you are using an Oracle RAC database system, you must create the tablespaces with the
appropriate RDBMS software prior to installation.
Whether the scripts are run automatically or manually, the user must be logged in as
SYSTEM. When you manually execute the database scripts, the DRM_DB user is created in
the RDBMS (if it does not already exist). The DRM_DB user is assigned a default tablespace
of DRM_DATA and must have access rights to the following items:
Default tablespace (usually DRM_DATA)
UNLIMITED TABLESPACE
CONNECT
CREATE ANY SEQUENCE
CREATE USER
ALTER USER
====================================================
When you manually execute the database scripts, the user is logged in as the schema owner
which, has a default tablespace of DRM_DATA. This user must have access rights to the
following items:
m Default tablespace (usually DRM_DATA) — this can be done after the install if the
tablespaces were not created.
UNLIMITED TABLESPACE
DBA
CONNECT
CREATE ANY SEQUENCE
CREATE USER
ALTER USER
=========================================================
according to the previous understanding of hyperion modules.this time i created a new user "DRM_DATA" under orcl DB
and provide him dba,connct,view,procedure,trigger,session roles..
and when i try to configure it then it states some error////// -
Problem connecting error message
I keep getting the following error message on my iphone 4s:
"Problem connecting check date/time on your device and your internet connection"
The error is only happening on one app (bike race) but I am addicted to this game and cant play it!
The error message happens everytime I open the app whether I am connected to wifi or use 3g, other apps are working fine.
I have closed teh app, restarted the phone but still no joy.
Please could someone help me out.
Thanks very much for your timeWhy is there a colon appended?
It is either the file:// protocol to open a local file or a file with the .file file extension (i.e. without trailing colon) -
Error 6, Error message given
Hi guys I can't seem to decipher why this error message is being given and how to get around it.
Error 6 occurred at Open/Create/Replace File in NI_LVConfig.lvlibave Config File.vi->NI_LVConfig.lvlib:Close Config Data.vi->write settings.vi:5->LP3000+.vi
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: Generic file I/O error.
C:\LP3000+\stop watches\ ljlogud.cfg
the stopwatch timer with the boolean array gives times for each individual array element and saves the valus to a cfg file. Even if the error message is shown the timer does not stop counting (which is good!!!). Also the error message apprears only periodically and not always. How do I get rid of the error message window? Any comment about the shortcomings of the code is also appreciated.

timer edit2.vi 270 KBWell,
You only need to save the new values AFTER the main loop ends. Reading them once to start is good- write them once to save them for the next launch- the file isn't used by something else is it?
And we are off to the races.... the Local "Array" is read without regard to when the terminal "Array" is written. a classic race condition that nearly garuntees the last value written to the file is 1 iteration late. Again by getting the file writing outside the main loop you'll fix this issue too.
I'ld have used Shift registers instead of FB nodes but that's a matter of personal taste. The flat sequence structure should be removed (almost all of them should be obliterated, they are the devil's work.

[linux-3.2] watchdog: error registering /dev/watchdog
Today, kmod replaced module-init-tools, and after upgrading my system, noticed this error after udev loaded:
Jan 6 07:44:41 localhost kernel: [ 4.528051] watchdog: INTCAMT: cannot register miscdev on minor=130 (err=-16).
Jan 6 07:44:41 localhost kernel: [ 4.528088] watchdog: error registering /dev/watchdog (err=-16).
Jan 6 07:44:41 localhost kernel: [ 4.528113] mei: unable to register watchdog device.
Thankfully, nothing else happened and my system didn't go kaput. But reading the manpage, watchdog does appear to be important. Since udev errors were expected with the kmod upgrade, and this error never occurred before today (checked my /var/log/everything.log), it appears kmod is the likely culprit.
Edit: Tried posting this to the ML, and discovered that the general public does not have write access to the ML. So if some developer thinks this is important, hopefully that person will see this post.
Last edited by Sara (2012-01-09 00:12:41)I finally found some time to dig in the kernel source a bit and found that I was wrong. Sorry for the confusion. There's nothing wrong with the Intel MEI watchdog driver and the softdog is not involved at all. The truth is that the watchdog core functions only support 1 watchdog device via /dev/watchdog [1]. If the iTCO_wdt driver would use the watchdog core [2], we'd get the correct "only one watchdog can use /dev/watchdog." message and the IMEI watchdog registration would not be attempted. But it doesn't. It registers in a different way [3] and so the core does not "know" about another watchdog being already registered, attempts to register the IMEI watchdog and fails with the confusing "cannot register miscdev..." message.
The bottom line is that the kernel supports only one watchdog and we (administrators) have to decide which device we want to use.
