9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 install/migration questions

We are migrating 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 from two-box to three-box scenario as explained below. We have a plan of action for this migration. I want to know whether this is the proper way to do the migration.
Existing Scenario : ( 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 )
Box 1 : Portal/LoginServer DB
Box 2 : Portal & Loginserver middletier.
New Scenario : ( Same version 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 )
Now we want to migrate to the following scenario, with the same version of 9iAS
New Box A : Portal/LoginServer DB
New Box B : Portal middletier
New Box C : LoginServer middletier.
The following is our highlevel plan to migrate the same version of ias portal (1.0.2.2.2).
1. Clone the DB from 'Box 1' to 'New Box A', which will bring the portal and sso schema.
2. install 9ias 1.0.2.2.2 on the 'New Box B' [for Portal middletier], during which give some junk value for the connect string in portal configuration assistant, which will skip installing anything to the database. As we already have the portal and sso schema in the database.
3. install 9ias 1.0.2.2.2 on the 'New Box C'[for loginserver middletier], during which give some junk value for the connect string in portal configuration assistant, which will skip installing[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

[ Posting the reamining steps... ]
3. install 9ias 1.0.2.2.2 on the 'New Box C'[for loginserver middletier], during which give some junk value for the connect string in portal configuration assistant, which will skip installing anything to the database. As we already have the portal and sso schema in the database.
4. Use net8 assistant on 'New Box B' and 'New Box C' and provider the connect string to the database which we cloned on the 'New Box A'.
5. run ssodatax with the proper parameter of portal midt and loginserver midt url from 'New Box B'. [ Note : the same ssodatax can be run on 'New Box C' also, as both the box has the connect string to the DB in 'New Box A'.]
6. Test and make sure everything works properly.
Is this the right approach ? Any inputs are highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Exchange 2013 Migration Questions

Exchange 2013 SP1 to a new server. I just realized that I have been asking migration questions on the "general" forum. Here's the deal:
We just want to move to a newer server and reuse the "old" server as a DAG member. We have a production exchange 2013 SP1 server and I found that the DB is not on a RAID'ed drive. So, we purchased a server. I installed 2012 R2 and all windows updates.
Then installed exchange 2013 SP1. Then got our AS/AV software installed. When I boot the new server up and login to ECP, it sees all the exchange users, DB and info. So, I followed:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876926(v=exchg.150).aspx
to migrate users and current email to the new DB. However, when users logged in their current email was not there. I also tried to use the ECP migration option and this resulted in the same, users old email was not in their inbox. So I had to perform that
same process on the old DB to get users old email back. I then tried to use the migration option in the ECP->same issue. So as of now, we are on the old DB and things are working fine.
    According to:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997006(v=exchg.65).aspx
When moving from server to server, the DB filename must be the same. The non-production server does not have the same DB filename. Could this be the problem? Could someone point me to documentation on migrating from server to server

So I ran Get-Mailbox -Database “Source Database Name” " -ResultSize Unlimited | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “Target Database Name” and moved all the user mailboxes. Then moved the system mailboxes, public folders and
OAB. Adjusted send connector to reflect new server. Log in as a user, all email is there. Great! Dismount the old DB. Wait a few minutes and user email is still there. Woohoo! Shut down the old exchange server and a few minutes later, all email is gone. Boo!
Boot the old server back up and mount the old DB, all email is back in user inbox. How do I use only the new DB in exchange 2013?
So I just dismounted the old DB and all email stays in users inbox?! So it must be something with the old server that did not get moved over but for the life of me I cant figure out what

  • Analysis Authorization Migration Question

    Analysis Authorization Migration Question
    This is detail Question
    1)     I am testing Analysis Authorization Migration in NW2004s SP9 and have applied all OSS notes that are relevant to SP09 and are coming in SP10.
    2)     We have 2 Info object flagged as Authorization relevant 0COMP_CODE and 0COSTCENTER
    3)     We have Object level security set-up in BW 3.x system and for a role we have specified values like 0COMP_CODE has value 1000, 1800. “:”. In the same role we have specified 0COSTCENTER value 130001 to 180001, “:”  and hierarchy node.
    4)     When we migrate to Analysis Authorizations, using RSEC_MIGRATION, this program creates 2 Authorizations ZCOCODE00 & ZCOSTCTRH00. Both of them have 0COMP_CODE and 0COST_CENTER Objects.
    5)     ZCOCODE00 authorization gets value 0COMP_CODE values 1000, 1800. “:” and 0COSTCENTER Value “:”.
    6)     On the same line ZCOSTCTRH00 gets value 130001 to 180001, “:”  and 0COMP_CODE “:”.
    1st Question:
    1)     Why does it create 2 Authorizations?
    2)     During Checking it does not pass the authorizations, because it seems to me that it fails in Optimization process.
    3)     I manually merge the authorizations in “ONE” object then authorization check passes.  In other word if I combine ZCOSTCTRH00 & ZCOCODE00 then Query authorization check passes.
Any one is struggling on this.
Please note, I am doing Migration so that it updates existing Profiles (Roles now from SP9).
Any comments will be very help full.
    Pankaj Gupta

    Hello Pankaj
There are some basic misunderstandings on your side.
    Let me try to clarify:
First we should distinguish between migration of authorizations and of what a query does with them.
You had 2 auth objects before migration (in 3.x).
Of course, they must be migrated to 2 new analysis auths.
There is no general possibility to combine authorizations to a single one as the may appear in different roles and users. Moreover this would kill performance and finally, nobody would recognize the origin.
Only in very restricted cases one could think of a combination of auths which come out of migration. But, then people loose overview about what goes on.
Before the corrections in note "Migration IV" the : had not been inserted but now it is for good reasons.
Now, accept for the moment that you receive 2 auths.
Then, you cannnot (must not) combine the 2 resulting authorizations!
    <b>Authorization 1</b>
    COMP_CODE : 1000, 1300, “:”
    Cost Center : “:”
    <b>Authorizations 2</b>
    Comp_Code “:”
    Cost Center : 3100001-31999999; “:” plus a Hierarchy Node.
    This means that e.g. combination
    COMP_CODE 1000
    COST_CENTER 3100001-31999999
<u>is not allowed!!!</u> Therefore, they must not be combined!
Also, the query and its optimization is comepletely independent of the migration. And here, during query run time the auths cannot be combined. It is no failure!
Moreover, the merging optimization is just a performance optimizaiton and has nothing to do with whether the query result is authorized or not.
If you combine them manually you have authorized different combinations.
Well, now you may wonder why you get 2 auths at all which leads to a "no auth" result in the query execution.
The reason is, that in 3.x where you got a result with your 2 auth objects the modeling was wrong.
If you want to authorize any combination of characteristic values, you should combine these characteritics together in one auth object, not in 2!
(In BI7.0 it works like that but not in 3.x)
But you defined 2 which may be valid even in several other InfoProviders independently and not even at the same time. Moreover, the auth objects may come from different roles and may be assigend to different users which then have completely different auth content. In general it is not possible to combine different auth objects or to find out those special situations which nevertheless allow for such optimizations. If you re-do a migration with more objects and users you could even receive different results which is also not satisfying.
Therefore, instead, the mechanism was introduced to insert a : auth to those characteristics that are auth relevant (and checked now with 7.0) but not in the currently processed auth object.
In you special case it may have made sense to combine them but not in general. And a migration can only try to work as general as possible.
For your application you may combine the 2 auths manually if you want to allow also the crossover combinations
    COMP_CODE 1000
    COST_CENTER 3100001-31999999

  • Iprint migration question

We had to back out of a migration last week because of issues with edir version on Netware. I've updated that and TSA, but another question just came up. I'm migrating iPrint from a cluster, plus doing transfer ID. If I choose cluster resource on the source server in miggui, I only get the consolidate option. Does that mean I need to first run a consolidation job just for iprint and then go back and run the transfer ID? Or will the consolidation screw up a transfer ID?

$(UService migrations based on cluster resources and Transfer ID are separated in Migration Tools (miggui). You need to execute Cluster based iPrint migration in one project and Transfer ID migration in another project.
Perform all service consolidation migrations and make sure they are all completed/synced and working before attempting Transfer ID.

  • Error while installing Migration Tool kit for SAP BPC7.0

    Hi all,
We are implementing SAP Business Planning and Consolidation Migration Process to BPC 7.0.
We are trying to installin Migration Tool Kit. In this kit we are having two set up files - one for BPCMigrationClient and another for BPCMigrationServer.
When i am trying to install the BPCMigrationServer set up file it diaplays a screen which says - Enter the service type accounts.- it has the following items - 1. System Admin ID, 2. password, 3. Admin ID, 4. Admin Password, 5. User ID, 6. User Password.
    1. System Admin ID already has the id ( through which i have logged on to the system). This option is non editable.
    2. password: gives option to type in the password.
3, 4, 5, 6 options are disabled and are blank. we are not able to edit them or write anything in them.
After entering the password when clicked on next , it gives us message saying Invalid Admin ID (3). But the problem here is that the 3,4,5 and 6 options are disabled. We cannot write anything in them. We are not able to install the migration tool kit because of this.
Can anyone help us out in solving this issue.
    Thanks,
    Madhav

CAn you precise also what Migration tool are you using?
Migration from 5.1 to SAP BPC 7.0 NW?
In that case when you are speaking about the installation about what part are you speaking?
I think actually you are speaking about the migration tool from 4.2 to 7.0 Microsoft version .
In that case you can install the mIgration tool just with SAP BPC sys admin users and you have to input the password for that user. Sys admin user for BPC is usually the user used for installation of SAP BPC server.
Any way I suggest to follow the Migration tool training document and there you will find all the information necessary.

  • Permission issues after Snow Leopard clean install, Migration Assistant+Time Machine restore.

    Hello, here's the situation.
I've done a clean install, for various reasons, I've got backups including one done just before the clean install. Following directions somewhere else I set up a user account called "test" just for the purposes of reimporting PART of my old system, since one of the reasons I did the clean install was to clean up my system (get rid of all those little ghosts of old programs, the old programs themselves, files and settings I not longer want etc.) so I didn't want to just import the whole thing. So I imported just the user account and a few folders such as music and photos that I knew I wanted back on. Then I restarted so that it would log back into my old user account that's been restored using Migration assistant. So far so good. I enter time machine and start restoring Applicatons, their associated support files, a few preference panes, some other files and folders I want back on, so and and so forth. Then I enter my old home folder and see that many of the subfolders I don't have access to, I check their permissions with Get Info and see that read/write access has been granted to my test account, which is ridiculous since it didn't exist when they were backed up. Some searching reveals that on the first Time Machine back-up after a restore like this it should as at the start whether I want to inherit he old backups, so I tell Time machine to do a backup, figure that it shouldn't take much, seeing as there's nothing new, and I've put it all in the same place as in the backup. It doen't give me any such prompt, instead just starts indexing/preparing hundreds of thousands of files, and tells me that the backup should take about 135 gb of space. I stop the backup, give up on working this out myself, and come here. Help?
    Of note
The "harddrive" (it's a partition, I've got Windows on the other part) is not named the same as it was in the backups, would this affect it?

    I'm not familiar with Lightroom.
Where is the "Lightroom 2 catalog" folder in the second message, and what are it's permissions?
Note that +Repair Permissions+ only repairs permissions on files installed by OSX or certain Apple apps, and you should use the version of Disk Utility that's on your OSX volume, not your Install disc. See: [About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452].

  • Clean install, migration, time machine

I am not a MAC OSX specialist in any way, but I would like to share what I have found out the hard way about the clean install.
    1) Never do this unless you are absolutely sure that you have complete back up. Time machine cannot restore to the latest backup status, it can only go back to full backups and those are not made very often. In my case it was July 29, 2012. What a surprise! . Do the vital backups by hand. I propose copying your home folder to an external disc or usb pen drive. Copy Application folder as well. Why? If you are fond of iWorks'09 and hate new versions and you do clean install your favourite software is gone. You may just as well erase your Time Machine disc and start backup from clean drive. I didn't do it.
    2) Make copies of your mails.
    3) If you purchased software outside AppStore make notes of serial codes. Mail backup helps.
    4) When making USB drive bootable do it this way: http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=18081307&postcount=3 it preserves RECOVERY partition which is needed for FIND MY MAC option and it is usefull to have it anyway. Place the USB intended for clean install directly into your MAC, don't use USB hub.
    5) Migration assistant never worked for me. The reason might have been that my last full Time Machine backup was done 18 months ago, and it was 10.8... I have read quite a lot about getting restore from the Time Machine, and dwelled on the subject myself.
I can't give explanation why that happened but that is found out the hard way:
    - I discoverd that long name of the user should be different than the one you used before clean install.
    - After doing trial and error attempts I made short user name the same as in my user before clean install, and started it with a capital letter. Why? That gave me access to my time machine. When the I had a different short user name than stored in time machine then upon entry into time machine all the backups well dimed and going back was not possible. With the same short name the backups were accessible. The system complained that I had no permissions to access the folders. But that is possible to change. When you look up Time Machine folders in Finder, those that are restricted to you have got red circle with a white line inside. Ctrl click on the restricted folder and select Get info. Add yourself as a user that has the access and change permissions to read and write. Your Documents folder appear in every back up in Time Machine. The best it is to change the permissions in the latest backup.
At the end of the day I managed to recover my mail. Data from other programs and my old MBP is up runnning again and faster. It takes however, a lot of work to make it.
The biggest pitty is that I lost my Pages v4.3 and now don't have an option to recover it.

Are you sure its not shown?  It should have a yellow or green icon, and list the name of the system and HD that was backed-up, not the one it's on.
If not, try to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • Oracle 9iAS v 1.0.2.2 Install Dilemma - Help!!!

    Hello guys! Here's the scenario.
We currently have a 9iAS rel 1 installation. The portal30, SSO logon server (and other relevant porta30l schemas) were created in our customer database. We need to upgrade the 9iAs app server to 10G. Of course, not to mess with our current production data, we restored a cold backup of the production database (including portal30 and relevant schemas) on a different server. We intend to start the upgrade efforts on these new machines. The question now is how do we install oracle 9iAS rel 1 and configure it to use the portal30 schemas restored from the cold backup? I am inclined to think that we can by pass the portal repository configuration step (since we already have the schemas) during the installation and just configure the appropriate files to communicate with the portal30 / SSO schemas from the cold backup.
Any ideas on how to approach this? Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

The best bet for a pentium 4 environment is to use 1.0.2.2.2a with Oracle 9i 9.0.1. Both installers work fine with the P4. I just completed 2 such installs in a pair of 1.8Ghz Alienware machines and a pair of Gateway 2Ghz. Both W2K SP2, There ae still a number of install issues. See the release notes.
If you want to work with an 8.1.7, you must apply serveral patches. See the release notes for 9iAS. To use the installers in 8i on p4's, copy the cd's to disk, find the symantec DLL's and rename them. Do a meta link search for their names. I do not remember them off the top of my head, or search the oracle install disk for symj*.dll.

  • Unable to Install Migration Workbench

Iam trying to install omwb_92012.exe on my machine.
    It throws an error
"unable to install the oracle migration workbench into the specified directory"
    and quits.
I have a oracle 8i home on my machine.Does this matter?
    Please suggest!
    Thanks in Advance

Yes, The latest version of Migration Workbench was built against 9iR2 and needs to be installed in a seperate home or a 9iR2 home. This should not be an issue, you can just specify a different home at install time via the Oracle installer.

  • Clean install/Migration Assistant question

    Hi,
I'm looking to do a clean ML install (upgrading from 10.7) on a new SSD for a 2009 MacPro. I have a SuperDuper clone of the MacHD on a bootable FW drive.  Basically I'm just looking to get Mail accounts and messages, Safari bookmarks, Keychain info and fonts/font families from the existing boot drive and reinstall or manually transfer everything else.  Can Migration Assistant handle this?  Do I need to create a new user account on the new drive?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Setup Assistant, which will open after the installation, will do that and is generally considered more reliable. You will probably need to create a new user to get out of Setup Assistant.

  • SL Clean Install + Migrate

SL has been behaving badly since updating from 10.5, even after a 'not-quite-archive-&-install' again to 10.6, sooo... clean install time.
I have everything on Time Machine, I can also clone the disk first in case of major screwups, but what I want to be able to do is set up a Migrate, reformat, install afresh & then only restore from the migrate things such as address book, diaries, bookmarks, Keychain, etc... all the personal stuff, but NO application data, prefs etc. I want as little legacy data going across as possible, to avoid what I think is years of upgrades not quite meshing with 10.6
My SL Disk is 10.6 Retail, so I can clean install straight from it, yes? No need for 10.5 first?
Does the migrate tool to 'new Mac' give me the option of only restoring the personal data, or will it automatically fill my system with legacy prefs etc I just don't want to carry over?
Any definitive answers on exactly how to go about this. I've never tried to do this before so, even after 20 years on the Mac, I'm in new waters.

    V.K. wrote:
... there could be problems in your current home directory such as corrupt or conflicting preferences files. they would transferred using this method. this is unlikely though so you should try this first.
Personally, I think that a) the source of the problems could just as likely be in the home folder as anywhere else & b) it is always better to first try to systematically locate the specific cause of the problem & eliminate it (since otherwise there is always a chance of unknowingly reintroducing it again later, resulting in a lot of work for nothing).
Accordingly, I suggest that before taking the radical step of erasing the drive, there are several things worth trying. The first, if not already done, is to run Disk Utility's "Verify Disk" check. If it finds anything wrong, restart from the installer disk & run its copy of Disk Utility to repair the disk. Only if it can't fix any found problems, should you then erase the drive.
Otherwise, the next thing to try is creating a new user account for testing purposes. If the problems disappear when startup up into this account, you know the cause is somewhere in the normal account's home folder. If they don't disappear, the problem is somewhere in the system domain. The most likely suspects are a) corrupted OS components (which usually can be repaired by reinstalling the OS or sometimes a combo update), b) conflicting third party startup items in /System/Library/StartupItems or /Library/StartupItems (which can be eliminated or archived), & c) corrupted system fonts (which can be identified using Font Book.app's font validation option).
If the problems do disappear, the most likely causes in the original home folder are a) bad user fonts (with the same fix as above), b) incompatible login items (visible in System Preferences > Login items tab, where they can be eliminated with the minus button), & c) bad user preference files (which can usually be identified by what they affect or with a utility like Preferential Treatment or the command line equivalent).
Depending on the nature of the 'bad behavior' & what the steps above reveal, it is quite likely that the problem(s) can be eliminated permanently without the hassles of a clean install & restoring a lot of stuff manually.

  • Leopard archive install - migrate from time machine??

I was told to do an archive install by the guys at the genius bar today to fix some really strange lockups. It appears to have fixed my issues but now I'd like to get all my apps / settings back. Is there an easy way to do this via my time machine backup?

if you did an archive and install it should have migrated all your applications and also all your user settings provided you chose that option. are you sure it was an archive and install and not an erase and install? do you have a Previous Systems folder at the top level of your hard drive? you CAN use Migration assistant to migrate your user settings and apps but if you really did an A&I there should be no need.

  • How to Install & Migrate APEX 4.2x on 11gR2 database.

    Hi All,
What is the best way to migrate APEX software and Applications FROM APEX 4.1.1.00.23 on 10g TO APEX 4.2.1.00.08 on 11gR2.
I have enabled APEX 3x with Embedded PL/SQL Gateway on 11gR2 database. The older version APEX4.1 is uses HTTP server.
    Anyone’s help is much appreciated.
    Regards

The best way (I had problems with this last week), is to go Oracle Support (do not use the upgrade patch from OTN), and download patch #14732511 from Oracle Support. This will automatically upgrade and migrate your Apex applications to the current 4.2.1.00.8. It should take around 15-30 minutes, depending on your hardware. The one I tried using from OTN wouldn't run, and the supposed upgrade would finish in about 15 seconds.
