A challenge to take up

Hello,
I'm currently preparing my Phd in psychology and use a sensor system
describe here (http://www.ascension-tech.com/products/flockofbirds/)
which track the motion of a linb in space.
I used a software made with labview 5.0 that made the pc emit a sound
when the limb went through a precise point of space. I'd like to
change this sound for a video sequence on the screen, and I don't know
anything in labview (some students made the first soft for me). Could
anyone help me and would like to try to do the job?

If not, please find attached example and see if it's working (it uses MS Mediaplayer to show the AVI file).
To finish the job, some details may help ...
- are you using labview or just the executable created with lv5.0?
- you want that movie inside a specific front panel or could be independent
- the code where the sound was triggered or a screen capture of its block diagram

ITunes on Win 7 Pro won't recognise iPhone

iPhone 4 S is 12 months old next month.
OS is 7.0.2
iTunes vers is: 11.1.0.126
Computer OS is Win 7 Pro (anti virus is Microsoft Essentials, Firewall is ZoneAlarm)
I have manged to connect the phone to iTunes ... so there is a backup. However, that was a while ago and it's pot luck.
Even when I did connect it required several plugging and unplugging to get a connection.
NB - the computer is recognising the iPhone as I can d/load pictures from Photos and charge via the computer.
(As a clue: wall charge also requires often 6 plug in and out before it connects and begins charging so I use the computer mostly).
I've been through the list provided by Apple Help.
Also I remove Apple from devices so that it installs afresh.
And I have Stopped and Restarted Apple Mobile Device.
I have tried with firewall off (but when it did connect ages ago same firewall was on)
Unable to turn off MSE and really ought not have to uninstall.
So ... if you are into a techie challenge please take on my case.
No offence intended but not interested in amateur good ideas like "try another usb port" (have tried main and subsidiary port)....
I'm franly disappointed, frustrated and tired of the process but remain open to expert input.

Never mind answering this question. I was able to figure out a way to fix the problem on my own. All I needed to do was install the Itunes update by itself and then I was able to open Itunes with no trouble.

Old update to fix problem?

I've been having the same problem everyone else seems to be having with the ipod not being recognized by itunes. I searched online and found a link from apple.com that allowed the download of the ipod update from 11-17-2005. I'm at work right now so I can't download it, but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea if it would work to download this previous update and try to install that on my ipod that currently has the dreaded 1-16-2006 update on it. Is it even possible to revert back to a previous update like this, and also is this update even a working one because before downloading the 1-16-2006, I hadn't updated the ipod software since purchasing my ipod in late 2004. I'm also not sure if this will cause any more damage to the ipod (such as erase all my music, most of which I don't have backed up). Hopefully someone (preferably apple because they are really dropping the ball here) will be able to solve this problem soon. Thanks.

Its a challenge and takes patience, but I have managed to install older firmware revisions to my Ipod. I've done it several times with different revisions. Unfortunately, it does not fix these problems.
So I conclude that either 1) the older updates just appear to install but the ipod is actually still running the 2006-1-10 update or 2) the 2006-1-10 update has changed some state that is not corrected by reinstalling an older revision.

Best (PAL) workflow to convert HDV interlaced to DV progressive?

Question - What is the best (PAL) workflow to convert HDV interlaced to DV progressive?
Software: Pr, En and Ae - all CS4.
My Camera: (Sony Z1) shoots HDV 1080i.
When capturing and editing, I keep everything HDV and interlaced.
Premiere Pro:
Capture HDV - mpeg 1440 x 1080 (1.3333)
Sequence - 1440 x 1080 (1.3333) HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333) Upper Field First - (HDV 1080i25 Preset)
Once edit is complete, I dynamically link sequences into Encore.
Question - Should I dynamically link to Encore or export sequence from Pro?
If you aren't a fan of dynamically linking the sequences and believe exporting the sequences from Premiere Pro is the way to go, please advise of best export settings. I assume during the export (from Pr) is when the converting from HDV interlaced to DV progressive takes place?
At present, I dynamically link the sequences into Encore. This means Encore handles the conversion to DV progressive.
Question - What are the best (Encore) transcode settings to transcode HDV 1080i25 to DV progressive widescreen?
I've tried numerous workflows but as yet, I've not been 100% happy with any of them.
I'm finding it quite a challenge to take HDV 1080i and produce a good looking DVD i.e minimal artifacts and no interlaced jaggies.
I used to downconvert to DV in-camera during the capture process, but I'm finding I'm getting much better results by editing in HDV and downconverting during post. This is what my post is really all about i.e. finding the best workflow to do this.
I would be very keen to hear of how others are shooting and editing in HDV to then produce best/high quality DVDs.

I have exported the media in DVD MPG (.m2v) from Premiere and Build the final DVD from that .m2v into Encore.
I have to say that I am not very happy with the final result when I convert into PAL Widescreen.
I can see little artefacts, flikers and jaggies...
- Do you think that this "double" DVD MPG export could lower the quality?
- Could it be the FullHD screen (1080x1920) on which I display the final result (PAL 720x572) that interprates the video?

Don,t be fooled into replacing your back light (display) by people who did.

I found a few webpages on changing the light for pismo,s dimming display and got really excited because I am really handy as long as you can take it apart. I went through the whole deal and and got to my display out of the frame (top cover of laptop ) and began looking for the light. Well guess what, my lcd light was build in and then sealed into the frame. No screws or such, the only way to get to was to cut the housing of the display.
I found out that G3 laptops use a LCD,s from different manufacturers (samsung, philips, lg and you get my drift) which have their own methods of making a LCD panel housing. I would recommend that if you attempt such a project, make the instructions refer to your panel. It is a catch 22 situation since you have to remove the panel for that info.
By the way, I succeeded but it was not worth it. It took to much effort and time to cut the frame and reset the display to tolerance. one sixty four of inch off at various stages was serious enough for a redo of that. I finally must say that I got lucky (because I will not do it again for this display)

That brightness last about two months and then it starts to dim. Although i did replace the bulb, I had dropped the reflector and ran over it with ballbearing wheels that are on my lazy boy. The refector is thin stainless steel which is impossible to shape back to factory specs. So the bottom of my screen has various brightness of light that evens out about quarter of the screen up. That pismo had so many things needing repair (cpu was the final straw), that a I finally bought a used one on ebay for 175 dollar and the display is pretty good. The two bulbs run at 20 dollars and I think a pisomo display is less than a hundred, but then that might not be the brightest. You must have had a lcd from a manufacturer that is difficult to work with, ie. really tight fitting boots that need more than a gentle force and they break. Since there are at least six different companies that pismo uses there lcd display, failure or success cannot be predicted without enough stats on specific displays success and failures in home bulb replacement. I personally do well with things and found this to very difficult, this was to a take apart deal, but break apart at some steps, we all know stressed plastic broken will never fit right again. When i forced the bulb back in the lcd , I was not sure if it broke or not. That is not good to depend on luck. If you want to give it another shot (sometimes the challenge can take on a life of its own when no longer practical) you might consider heat shrink tubing instead. I have not done it but it is just a thought.
Note: these bulbs require a few minutes to reach max brightness, older scanner that used the same bulb had a warmup period.

Web Dynpro ABAP to trigger workflow

I want the application to trigger a workflow (probably using FM SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW) and then passing the text along to workflow inbox.
How can this be done?

I don't mean to sound discouraging - exactly the opposite in fact - but that sounds like quite a challenge to take on. Suggest you break the problem down into smaller chunks, concentrate on one new technology at a time. Start a workflow from an event as Paul described, but do so using a regular ABAP report. Use WDA to learn about views, windows, plugs, contexts etc. and write a piece of user input to a table.
The problem with trying to learn too many new things together is that you have no idea where to look if something doesn't work. Is it a WD plug? Is it workflow binding? Is it an event problem? This makes problem solving more difficult and that can become very disheartening.

Live cache backup

Hi Experts,
I am beginner to SCM and Live cache technology.
I have sucessfully installed SCM 5.0 and Live cache 7.6.29 on two different HP-Ux 11.23 servers.
My first requirent is to take live cache backup. But there is no tape drive connect to any of the server,
local file system assigned as backup space, accordingly I have successfully taken online backup of SCM database by modifying entries like backup_dev_type to tape in init<SID>.sap.
Know I am facing a challenge to take live cache backup on local file system , infact dont know how to take online live cache backup.
Another question is database manager gui is needed in unix environment, if yes please let me know the procedure how to configure this as In transaction lc10 upon double clicking database manager gui system generating error.
Please help to solve the above two problems.

I'd like to make a few remarks on this:
1. Backup to local filesystem w/o moving it to another location afterwards is next to useless. What happens when (when not if!), the local disk crashes? What backup can you use then?
2. You can perform liveCache Backups from DB13C/DBACockpit after you've integrated the liveCache instance (DB59).
3. If you like to administer the liveCache via DBMGUI - just install DBMGUI on your Windows Workstation and connect remotely to the liveCache. Actually this is the way how it was thought up.

Feedback on Upgrade to 7.0 Analyzer

This is not a technical question but I am trying to get some general feedback on others
experiences with upgrade from the 3.5 to 7.0 BEx Analyzer tool.
We are currently in process of evaluating the new BEx Tools and in general finding that
while the Query Designer has been improved the 7.0 BEx Analyzer has been totally messed
up at least when comparing to the basic functionality that was available in 3.5 Analyzer.
The 3.5 Analyzer is a very easy to use User Friendly tool and used by most users including
query / design changes in our organization. With the new WAD concepts being introduced in
the 7.0 Analyzer it has become a bit too technical for an average BEx ( non tech savvy )
user to use the tool - not to even mention of the functionality issues when comparing the
tool to 3.5 version.
I just wanted to know if others have had similar experiences and how did they manage user
expectations / SAP's response on issues you've reported in the new 7.0 Analyzer.
I am providing a few that we have noticed so far.
1.Most users in our organization always navigate through the Analyzer to edit queries.
This is not as easy in the new 7.0 Analyzer where you have to execute a query first
before you can edit it or have another session open for query designer to make changes
but those may or maynot show up in the Analyzer unless you sign out / sign in .
So basically its very cumbersome and not a good move.
2. We are seeing major performance issues with medium to large workbook conataining
anywhere from 10 to upto 50 queries in a workkbook. And there are plenty of these created
by users for analysis and preparing formatetd financial month end packages fo r the execs.
It takes forever to open the workbook to begin with and then to go into/out of design mode is
another few minutes (5-10) .Its absolutely frustrating if you have to make workbook changes.
3. Figuring out when you may or may not see a variable screen popup is a big challenge.
Take a look at OSS Note 1044219 and you'll get the idea.
4. Refreshing individual queries with variables popup in a workbook does not seem to be a possibility anymore.
Please share your experiences if you're planning to or have upgraded to
7.0 version.

Normally for big workbooks. There is one option in workbook settings Individual query Refresh.
Go to Bex Analyzer -> Design Toolbar -> workbook settings -> General (There you can see allow refresh function for individual query Refresh)
This function helps instead of refreshing whole workbook, user can refresh as per their requirement of query.
Also support pack 10 for frontend helped us a lot. And we are waiting for support pack 11 for bi frontend. It has solution on performance side.
Also Check the oss notes 1040454.
New Bex Analyzer is using memory on below calculation
mem = 100MB + (#rows x #columns) x 0.0016 MB

HELP! New TX & 6.2.2 won't sync with Yahoo! account. HELP!

For a few years now, I've been using a Palm Tungsten E2 Handheld and syncing my E2 with my Yahoo! PIM (calendar, contacts, memos, etc.) account using Yahoo!'s Intellisync function. Everything has worked smoothly, with only minor problems, for years (prior to the E2, I had a Zire). I recently purchased a Palm TX handheld upgrading from the E2. When I got this new Palm handheld, the software I was forced to install on my computer was Palm Desktop version 6.2.2. I went to Yahoo! to sync this new handheld with my Yahoo! PIM using Intellisync and noticed Yahoo! no longer uses Intellisync. They now have what they are calling Autosync. As instructed by Yahoo!, I un-installed the Intellisync program from my PC and installed Autosync. The very first time I tried to sync my TX with Yahoo! I got an error message telling me this version of the Palm OS (6.2.2) wasn't supported. Can anyone tell me what I do now? This is very frustrating. Yahoo! doesn't support it's Itellisync or Autosync (and you are warned about this when installing) and you get a form response telling you, basically, if you are having problems, get rid of it. I've looked around Yahoo! and Palm sites and can't find anyone with the same problem or a solution. I think I'm just out of luck until Yahoo! decides to support 6.2.2 and who knows if they are even aware of it. If anyone has any solutions, please let me know. My Yahoo! account is a little more important to me than my Palm and I'm really tempted to send it back for a refund and look for some other device that will support Yahoo!. I'd be grateful for any suggestions. This is just annoying me to no end. Thanks.

OK. I'm happy to announce that almost a week after receiving my T|X, things are close to where I expected them to be.
First, let me thank HardBeatZ& for your assistance. I doubt I would have ever thought about using the disc that came with my E2 to pull me out of this mess.
But, that's exactly how it happened. I uninstalled both Yahoo!'s Autosync and 6.2.2. I found the disc (after a frustrating day of searching) and loaded 4.1.4. I then loaded Yahoo!'s Autosync.
It would take me an hour to write the trial and error period I went through at this point. Syncing the E2 with the desktop, figuring out that Yahoo!'s Autosync only syncs with Palm Desktop now instead of directly with the handheld, syncing the T|X with the desktop software then Yahoo!'s Autosync, duplicate and triple calendar entries, losing my entire To Do: list (which is quite lengthy) and getting it back by beaming it from the E2 to the T|X and...well, you get the idea. A lot of trial and error.
In the end though, things are about 90% back to where I need them to be. Getting the duplicate entries under control is the biggest annoyance but I've got my third-party apps, calendar, contacts, tasks, memos, etc. on the T|X now and, I must say, I'm starting to feel happy about the purchase (finally). Not having to guess where to place the stylus to hit buttons or write characters (on the defective E2) is the nicest thing.
Anyway, I got work to do but I wanted to come back here and thank you HardBeatZ&because I probably would have given up by now and sent it back. Glad I stuck with it. Now, this, of course doesn't mean I won't discover some new, frustrating problem tomorrow with the T|X but, for now, all is right in my world of handheld computing. And, at least, I learned a few things about syncing and the Palm Desktop that I didn't know before.
One problem I do see down the road is that cheap material the spine of the Palm cover is made out of is going to eventually tear just like that gray one did on the E2. I was thinking of reinforcing it with some electrical tape or some type of epoxy to strengthen it. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas how to keep that cover from breaking off? That gray one on the E2 was a joke for someone who uses their Palm several times a day like me. They should give you two. lol

IMac disk drive broken?

Hi guys, this is my first post on here so my apologies if I have done anything wrong. Anyways I've been having problems with my mid 2010 iMac, the disk drive isn't reading any disks. It was recently making a grinding noise when disks were inserted and would then spit them back out. I since upgraded to osx mavericks and the disk drive started working again for a few days. Today the problems resumed, I inserted a disk and it won't even read it now, the disk drive is making sort of a beeping noise (sounds like the laser is beeping?) and I can't eject it either. There is no disk being shown on the home screen and when I press the eject button nothing happens. The disk drive is trying to eject the disk by its self after it tries to read the disk but fails to do so. I was wondering if anyone could help me with how to remove the disk from the iMac and also if anyone else has had this problem? Also if there is a way to fix these problems with the disk drive? thanks in advance guys!

Actually, pretty much any iMac later than the second generation iMac G5 ALS (the "Ambient Light Sensor" model) are quite challenging to take apart & put back together without damaging something. Taking apart any of them after the ALS involves removing delicate items held in place by adhesives, removing hard to reach connectors, & so on. Not impossible but definitely not something the average user should try.
For that reason, I suggest an even more obvious option: instead of paying to have the internal replaced, just buy an external optical drive instead. For instance, Other World Computing offers a lot of them. Although I don't know if it sells outside the U.S. it should give the OP some idea of what's available.

Installing Snow Leopard on Alu iMac with broken disk drive

The disk drive in my 24" alu iMac is crap and has never worked properly and now wont accept most disks and I've had Snow Leopard for ages but not been able to install it.
Would this work - I have an old Powerbook G4 1.5ghz with 1.25gb RAM and a fully working superdrive. Could I put the snow leopard disk in that and share the disk to my iMac connecting them with a firewire cable and install this way? (They both have 400 & 800)

Crack on back cover spreading up from dock connector -- anyone else?

Two week-old black iPhone 3G 16GB. Kept in a leather slip-case. Never sat on, dropped or abused. Free of scratches.
Now has a 10mm-long crack spreading up from the middle of the dock connector.
Called Apple tech support, told I'd get a free replacement, went on hold, then told that actually it was accidental damage and I'd be charged for repair, "even if it's a design fault", because it arrived from O2 without a crack in it.
Looking up inside the dock connector, there's no support for the case and the edge can flex inwards with just the tiniest pressure.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone had any success getting Apple to replace it?
Unfortunately, the only camera I've got with me is on my iPhone, so it'll be a challenge to take a picture of the crack today!

Second phone call to Apple, still no joy. Some interesting tid-bits:
1) Absolutely no advanced-replacement option possible: "it's not like a little power supply or something -- the iPhone is different". Send it in for an evaluation is the only Apple option aside from trekking to an Apple store for evaluation.
2) The cost to replace the back cover, if found to be 'accidental damage', is £146 for an 8GB, probably more for a 16GB (?!)
3) The guy was unable to tell me how Apple assesses if something is 'accidental damage', and couldn't put me through to someone who could. He also refused to put me through to anybody else to discuss the matter further.
4) He said that he wasn't interested in listening to anything that had been posted on a forum regarding cracking issues or anyone getting a replacement from Apple.
5) My only other option, he said, was to take it in to an O2 shop and have a go at getting a replacement from them.
I waffled on about 'fit for purpose', this being a premium product, and being a loyal Apple customer for years to absolutely no avail -- he wouldn't budge and give me a replacement, offer a free repair, or acknowledge any potential design faults. Like talking to a brick wall of policy! Quite different to the only other experience I've had with Apple tech support.

Hello! Starting out for 2015 after about 7 years of just letting everything go after some really hard personal times. Have a lot of work to do. Several old accounts for small amounts dropping off 2015-2016 ; No active revolving credit, use or open accounts as of 12/14 when we finally looked, only an open mortgage. Joint activity in this house as both of us, husband and wife, are pretty much in the same boat. We had a series truly traumatic experiences and are hoping to rebound. We are now used to purchasing solely on a cash basis so, using credit only as a tool to build our credit score should be no problem since for the past 7 years if we could not pay cash, we just waited til we could for everything. Goal: Develop some lines of credit to start overshadowing the bad while working to get rid of the bad; 650 score by June 2015 first target Ultimate Goals: Refinance mortgage before these low rates rise : Maintain 720+ for both of us Steps Taken: Since 12/16 did secure some starting credit lines to have a rebuild base: 1 - Fingerhut $500cl 2 - CapOne Quicksilver $300cl 3 - CapOne Platinum $300cl 4 - Walmart Store Card Auth User on spouse's new $300cl (they denied me, not sure why so took a hard hit there) Spouse since Nov 2014 has added: 1 - New Car Loan $27k 2 - Fingerhut $600cl 3 - WalMart Store Card $300cl 4 - CapOne Quicksilver $300cl 5 - CapOne Platinum $300cl 6 - CreditOne $300cl 7 - First Progress secured $300 (before she even imagined she would get unsecured approvals) 8 - Kay Jewelers $6000cl (really surprised with instore approval on this) Paid off one small collection we didn't know about from VZWireless now going back to VZ as we never stopped being a customer and they really screwed us up by not transferring balance when we went from personal to business account. Hoping by joining and continuing on the forums for guidance we will keep the momentum to aggressively clean this up quickly and not just let the old stuff roll off over the next 14 months. EX: I created 2 recurring entries :
+ 1000 in 2007 with First run on 30.04.2007 and Last run on 30.04.2008, Interval in month: 1,Run date : 31;
+ 1000 in 2008 with First run on 31.01.2008 and Last run on 30.06.2008 Interval in month: 1,Run date : 31;
When I run on 29.02.2008, the system generated 2 posting documents:
100000 for recurring entry 1000 in 2007
100001 for recurring entry 1000 in 2008
I go to BKPF, select with DBBLG = '1000', it get 2 docs (100000 & 100001).
I want to select just 100001, with recurring entry 1000 in 2008, what condition I have to select more ?

Where is the nextFile.swf located? If it is online—then
have you created a crossdomain policy file?
i.e. www.flashoptimist.com/crossdomain.xml

There is no Flash code needed. Flash automatically looks for
this file when loading data from a different domain. Flash also
restricts to subdomains as well—if you are reading from
subdomains within the same server you will need duplicate files:
http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/crossdomain.xml
http://test.YOURDOMAIN.com/crossdomain.xml
etc.
Let me know if this fixes the problem. A great example of why
this is needed is youtube.com. (
http://www.youtube.com/crossdomain.xml).
None of the Flash video players pulling youtube.com movies would
work if this single file was deleted.
