A Combo box has robbed me of my font!
Here's a good one for you ...
I have a textFlow running through columns with a nice embedded font. Looks lovely. I then decide to add a completely unrelated Combo box to my app ... and now the textFlow doesn't render with the font. Comment out the combo and the font returns.
I don't even know where to start with that one.
I ran some tests and even with a completely dumb combo added with no DP it robs me of my font.
This is now officially MENTAL!

I'll run some tests to see if I can format the TF without using a default config.

How to change screen combo box value from a method?
Hi,
I have a screen that has a combo box and an ALV.
the combo box has the line numbers of the data in the ALV.
you can select the line item and then the ALV changes...
I fill the combo with function VRM_SET_VALUE.
all is good once the user changes the combo box.
I want to enable the user to click (hotspot) on ALV and then to ... and to change the value of the combo box to the line number he clicked on.
I couldn't change the value inside that box.
The combo box is declared as global parameter.
when I assign a value to it inside the method, it is good. but once back to PAI, it is the old value.
Do you have any idea how to set up that value?

When you load the combo box, you should be setting a "key" for each entry in the combo box.
See below:
move '2010FY' to Value-Key.
move '2010 - Full Year' to Value-Text.
append value to list.
move '2010Q1' to Value-Key.
move '2010 - Q1' to Value-Text.
append value to list.
move '2010Q2' to Value-Key.
move '2010 - Q2' to Value-Text.

So add these "keys" to a hidden column in the ALV grid. Then .... when the user presses a hotspot, pass the value of the hidden column (for the selected row) into the COMBO1 box.

Problem in refreshing the combo box on selection of an item in another comb
I have a situation where values to be displayed in 2nd combo box depends on the selection of an item from the 1st combo box.
Problem observed:
The 2nd combo box is not getting refreshed if the selected item from the 1st combo box has mapping to more than 10 items.
for ex:
A - AA, AB, AC, AD, AE, AF
B - BA, BB, BC, BD, BE, BF, BG, BH, BI, BJ, BK, BL, BM, BN, BO, BP
C - CA, CB, CC
D - DA, DB, DC, DD
1st combo box list:

D
2nd combo box list:
If the value selected from the first combo box is A, C, or D then 2nd combo box refreshes with repective values. But when the value selected is B, then 2nd combo box is not getting refreshed with respective values.

Combo box menu calculation of popup size ignores horizontal scrollbar
I have a JComboBox that I've setMaximumRowCount(20). However, sometimes the combo box has as few as 2 or 3 items in it. In those cases as you probably know, Swing automatically calculates how tall the popup should be, in this case 2 rows tall.
However, this calculation ignores the horizontal scrollbar, which basically occupies a "row" itself. This means that if I have combo box with 2 items, the displayed popup will contain the first item, a horizontal scrollbar, and a vertical scrollbar (for scrolling down to the item that the horizontal scrollbar hides) . Is this a bug in Java? If so, are there any workarounds to this?
I've looked in the bug report section using the terms "combobox horizontal scrollbar popup" and couldn't find anything

Error reading a combo box in SBO 2004

I am trying to check if someone has selected a value in a combo box on the service call screen (origin field). I can read the value fine if the combo box has a value in it, but if the box is empty I get an error 'object variable or with block variable not set'
Can anyone suggest anything please ?

Report error when using combo box and one text field is empty
I'm building an interactive pdf in adobe pro 9. My problem is the following: I have one text field where you can enter a numeric code and that is used to populate another text field when I choose an option on one combo box.For example: suppose I write the code 123 in the text field "A" and that the combo box has two options ("data" and "-"). When I select "-", another text field "B" is empty, while when I select "data" i populate the text field "B" using the code entered "A" with the text "data_123". In order to do this I use the standard javascript code in the Format>Custom tab of the combo-box.
My questions are:
- how can I prevent the pdf to proceed selecting an option in the combo box when the field "A" is empty?
- how can I update the field "B" every time that I change the text in "A"? I found that the text is "B" is updated only when I press the selection in the combo box.You can set the combo box to read-only in the Validate event of the A field:

Making combo box write variables

I am a dynamic site newbie, but have been making simple animations with Flash for some years.
I have got a friend to give me a leg up to create a flash page full of input text boxes that write to a text file via PHP and are then dispayed in dynamic text boxes. ( http://www.thepastafactory.co.uk/forsale.html ) I want to replace some of the imput text boxes with combo boxes. eg if the combo box has the options of say "rigid" or "trailer" it would write which ever was selected in the text file so this would be displayed in the dynamic text box for the end user to see. It seems very simple but I have looked all over the options for combo boxes and can see no mention of variables.
Can anyone explain to me in simple terms how I can achieve this.

Unchecking "Allow Undefined Strings" for System Combo Box Doesn't Work
Why will my system combo box still allow undefined strings even after unchecking "Allow Undefined Strings"?
The combo box works nicely because it allows the user to start typing in the string they want and the combo box will finish it off for them, but if you hit delete or change a letter turning it into an undefined string, the combo box will accept it.

systemcombobox.vi 8 KBI don't see the issue with Delete, but Backspace causes what I think you're seeing. If I type "a" into your example combo box, it autocompletes the "re" in the word "are". If I hit delete, nothing happens. If I type other characters, nothing happens. But, if I hit backspace, then the "re" disappears, leaving just "a". If I click outside the combo box, the a is left, and a string indicator picks this up. Thus, the combo box has allowed an undefined string.

Filtering Interactive Report which has combo box

I am a rookie in apex.I have an interactive report in which I have a column which contain's only combo box's. Let me say for example that the display values are Yes and No and the return values are Y and N and the name of the column as "required". When I try to filter the report, I can do so for all the other column's but when I try to do so for this column, I get two combo box's when I click on the expression filter instead of the Yes or No choices. I want the choices to appear in the filter for 'required' column instead of the combo box's. How can I do this? ...I have been searching google in vain...Thanks in advance

I am developing a desktop application in Wpf using MVVM and Entity Frameworks. I have the following tables:
1. Party (PartyId, Name)
2. Case (CaseId, CaseNo)
3. Petitioner (CaseId, PartyId) ............. Link Table
I am completely new to .Net and to begin with I download Microsoft's sample application and
following the pattern I have been successful in creating several tabs. The problem started only when I wanted to implement many-to-many relationship. The sample application has not covered the scenario where there can be a any-to-many relationship. However
with the help of MSDN forum I came to know about a link table and managed to solve entity framework issues pertaining to many-to-many relationship. Here is the screenshot of my application to show you what I have achieved so far.
And now the problem I want the forum to address is how to bind a combo box so that it retrieves Party.Name for the corresponding PartyId in the Link Table and also I want to populate it with Party.Name so that

The problem, presumably, seems to be is that the binding path "PetitionerLookup" of the ItemSource of the Combo box in the view vPetitioner exists in a different ViewModel vmCase which serves as an ObservableCollection for MainViewModel. Therefore,
what I need to Know is how to route the binding path if it exists in a different ViewModel?

Adding an event listener to combo box
I am working on a mortgage calculator and I cannot figure out how to add an event listener to a combo box.
I want to get the mortgage term and interest rate to calucate the mortgage using the combo cox. Here is my program.
Modify the mortgage program to allow the user to input the amount of a mortgage
and then select from a menu of mortgage loans: 7 year at 5.35%, 15 year at 5.50%, and
30 year at 5.75%. Use an array for the different loans. Display the mortgage payment
amount. Then, list the loan balance and interest paid for each payment over the term
of the loan. Allow the user to loop back and enter a new amount and make a new
selection, with resulting new values. Allow user to exit if running as an application
(can't do that for an applet though).

mochatay, here is a new actionPerformed method for you to use.
I've improved a few things here and there...
1) You can't just cast the ActionEvent's source into a JComboBox!
What if it was a JButton that fired the event? Then you would get ClassCastExceptions (I'm sure you did)
So check for all options, what the source of the ActionEvent actually was...
2) You can't assume the user will always type in valid data.
So enclose the Integer and Double parse methods in try-catch brakcets.
Then you can do something when you know that the user has entered invalid input
(like tell him/her what a clumsy idiot they are !)
3) As soon as user presses an item in any JComboBox, just re-calculate.
I did this here by programmatically clicking the 'Calculate' button.
Alternatively, you could have a 'calculate' method, which does everything inside the
if(command==calculateButton) if-block.
This will be called when:
a)calculateButton is pressed
b)when either of the JComboBoxes are pressed.
