A continuing POP e-mail issue (Web OS)

I have an issue with a attglobal.net e-mail account that I have not seen posted. I can only download one e-mail at a time, and the only way I can get the next e-mail is to delete the message I just downloaded. Sometimes it takes up to three hours before I can get the next one.
Now attglobal.net is a different division from the att.net accounts that every one has had their own issues with. This is also another case of it working perfectly with my old treo and not understanding why it won't work with my PRE.
It's my primary e-mail account so its kind of a big problem. Any suggestions?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

me and a few others in this forum are having the same exact issue ; however, we have worldnet.att.net accounts.... check oot the att.net threads.

  • More Apple Mail Issues

We have been using Apple Mail at our school for some time with few problems. We use it as the link to an outside POP3 service. Recently, as with so many other users, we have begun to have serious issues with crashing, loss of messages and issues with both sending and receiving at times. A new one has developed now. Disk Warrior was run recently and seemed to have had decent results. Upon closer inspection, it has apparently altered the modification dates of many user files and folders, as well as mail files (all to the same date: April 1, 1976). Now with mail, users are finding the message: 'The message from <[email protected]> concerning "(subject") has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.' The account is already online. I'm not sure if this is a result of the Disk Warrior intervention, or if it is a continuation of Apple Mail issues, or both. Also, users click on one message, and another displays. If you scroll through your messages, continuous crashes occur, and sometimes all messages disappear. Fortunately, with our mail service (Gaggle), we can retrieve messages directly online.
The issues do not occur in Entourage, and I am testing a couple of other mail applications as well. So it is definitely an Apple Mail problem. I have tried many of the fixes I have seen in other posts, but with no success. Running Disk Utility or Tech Tool has no effect. Our solution for now is to just not use Apple Mail - which our users are use to.
I will be curious to see what solutions come out. This is a serious issue for many users.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • "Slow typing in Mail" issue continues in Lion

The "Slow typing in Mail" issue continues in Lion. Has anyone found a fix yet?

Well, when typing in MAIL, the letters manifest VERY SLOWLY. I am know ACE typist, and it can't keep up with me. I type even a few characters, and wait for several seconds for my textual desires to appear.
This was well discussed under Snow Leopard, I see.
Restarting the App often helps for several minutes, but no more.

  • Web Browsers connect to internet, software update fails, pop for mail fails

A few days ago I was not able to pop my mail down to my mac from Cox and gmail they both failed to connect. Then i tried os x software up date and it says i am not connected to the internet. Itunes will not update pod casts either. Yahoo chat wont load either. There must be a port blocked or something in the OS on this mac. Proxies are at not set, fire walI is not on. I tried deleting network prefs, and some others i found in other posts. None of this worked. Safari works fine. All my other computers, pc's and mac's work fine through the same router and cable modem. I am about ready to format and reinstall OS X. Any ideas before i go to this extreme.....
oh i just found it little snitch was blocking ports... so i learned something tonight

  • SMTP POP Mac mail Yosemite Upgrade Issues

I have used mac mail for years with little or no problem, however, Yosemite is another story.
The SMTP outgoing mail will not work.
Often times when I am trying to figure out the problem by input changes into my mail preferences
the computer does not ask me to save. Thus it all goes back offline. The problem just all of a
sudden happened with no reason and for a week now, off and on I have been trying to fix this.
Apple charges money over the phone, have to drive 30 miles to a genius bar or fix it myself.
Should I try to go backwards to Maverick?  My Yosemite upgrade originated from Snow Leopard.
I thought Apple was the computer elite. What was wrong with the old email? I'm so frustrated.

Open Mail app, go to the top panel and select WIndow > Connection Doctor.
What is the error message (or messages) that the Connection Doctor is reporting?

  • E-mail issue POP on iPhone 5

I purchased my wife an iPhone 5 as a Xmas gift which she is very happy with and getting to grips with, however we seem to have an e-mail issue!
Basically her new iPhone has every single email she has ever recieved since opening her email account 5 years ago (yes all 3500 of them!)
We don't understand as on her laptop everything is as it should be when viewing her inbox i.e. just currant mails displayed.
Any help would be appreciated, as it will take forever to delete all her old mails.

  • POP E-mail account password

My POP mail account is not working. I've had this computer a long time and I intend to get a new one
because it's so out of date but in the mean time I need to get this problem fixed. The problem is with the
password. I NEVER had to type it in. It was always in there in mail preferences/accounts (all in asterisks*****)
For reasons I can't figure out, the password is no longer there. In keychain access there is no
indication of any mail account and password. When I click on "get mail" I get a prompt that asks for
a password. I have no idea what it is! My e-mail server is Time Warner Cable. They have no idea
what I'm talking about. I opened a g mail account just so I can do some e-mailing but I hate the format
and I want to continue to send and receive e-mails at my POP account and Time Warner e-mail address
as I have many business cards with that address on it. How can I fix the Pop e-mail account password
problem? Should I contact Apple and pay to ask them a question? I'm really perplexed. Even though
"mail" is not in my keychain access list, I tried to look at other passwords for other things and a prompt
asks me for a "keychain access password". I never had one! But that's a different issue. For now I'll settle for
a solution to my POP password problem.

Thank u for your suggestions. I'm the only one who uses this computer but I do have another mail account with g-mail which I only opened after the POP account failed. I repaired the keychain access to no avail but it did say that there was "no problem" with the chain. I reset the chain and I still can't send or receive e-mails from my POP account. I called Time Warner cable and they said they thought there could be a problem on their end and they
were checking it out. But the problem remains that even if they fix the problem that is rejecting my e-mail password, I now have no e-mail password to type in. It used to be saved in Preferences and now it's no longer there. If I can't retrieve the password from somewhere (it's not on my keychain access list) I don't know how to get the password or create a new one. As a result of resetting the keychain I now have a keychain access password. But there's no POP account or any mail app in the keychain list to use it with.

  • Sign in to iCloud continually pops up. How to get rid of it?

My new iPhone 5 has just developed a similar problem which has made it unusable. It seemed to have developed this issue after I tried to put a new SIM card in the phone. Once the pass code is entered after boot up the message 'sign In to iCloud Enter the Apple ID password for ' an old Apple ID Continually pops up.
I am unable to remember the old password.
    I have tried to -
    1. Use Iforgot to try to change to the password of the old Apple ID and then sign in to iCloud. But it seems accept the change on the website but the phone wont doesn't recognise the new password.
Because the message annoyingly pops up straight away you cannot change any settings on the phone.
I have no access to the old Apple ID email address to get any reset advice.

hi. Reset router and cleared data and all appears ok now. Was connected via safari. Ipad not jail broken so no idea how it arrived, presumably a free app. Have deleted dash lane and all around me apps just in case. Thank you

  • HT4929 How do I continue to receive mail on an older iPhone?

I followed the instructions but I never say an option to continue recieving mobilme mail.  When I hit the link on the help page I get sent to a page that congratulates me on being in the cloud, however my older iPhone can not fly.  Where is the option to keep receiving earth mail on incompatible devices!!???
Anybody know how to fix this?  This is starting to feel like a windows company

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

  • DMZ - DNS Server, Mail Server, Web Server, FTP Server

    Hi,
I am looking at a router to support around 20-30 people. I have a DNS Server, Mail Server, Web Server, FTP Server (all on one box (PC). I was wondering how everyones experiences with DMZ and port forwarding have been with these protocols with Airport and supporting a group of this size? Do you forsee issues? Will the new Airport handle these requirements better?
    Thanks

A record for mail.mydomain.com going for ip 199.99.99.999
MX record for mail.mydomain.com with destionation as mail.mydomain.com
That doesn't quite make sense. There must be an A record for "server.mydomain.com" or you wouldn't be able to reach it at all. You want the MX record to point to that.

  • MBA lion Mail issue: window disappears randomly

    hello:
Having some MBA 13' mail issues:
    1) mail window will disappear (only using cmd+0 shortcut will bring it back - or going to window>message viewer) randomly without any reason
    2) starting up a new email or new note then closing this note or email will close the entire message viewer window...why?
    3) emails deleted within the 'inbox' section will not delete in the Gmail section (setup as IMAP, with Gmail defaults)
I am a little concerned with 1 & 2 becuase these are huge user experience issues, it is the most frustrating thing to have to continually use the short cut to open up a window which should not have disappeared in the first place!!
any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Hi Fred
I've got the same issue. It seems to happen randomly but so annoying when it does. Upgrading to Mountain Lion hasn't helped and I've changed my keyboard and reset all the short-cuts to the default settings and still it happens in Mail and Microsoft Outlook for Mac when I'm typing a mail.
    Did you find a solution?

  • Having Some Mail issues on Apple Mail 5.2

Hi All - Having some mail issues lately with my gmail account Imap set up.
I can receive mail but when trying to send mail it pops up with the follwoing:
"Can not send message using the server smtp.gmail.com"
I tried deleting the gmail account on my iMac and setting it up again.  in the set up  It gives me two choices as an outgoing server:
smtp.gmail.com and just Gmail.   If I choose Gmail I can send the messages, but is this secure?  I've always used smtp.gmail.com for outgoing without any problems.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

Thanks for responding BGreg - Yes everything looks OK under the advanced tab (see below)  I never had any
"Red Dots" in connection doctor on the old smtp.gmail.com but it wouldn't work.  The new outgoing server - labeled merely Gmail works and appears to be the same as smtp.gmail.com, but I've never seen this in the past - it's always been called smtp.gmail.com   I wonder if Google changed the name?

  • Tour 9630 e-mail issues

New to the Tour and BB, two e-mail issues. It won't see or open e-mail PDF attachments from just one particular sender (he uses a Mac, but shouldn't matter). BB opens other PDF's fine, and they open in my laptop's Outlook just fine from this sender (but not on the phone).
Next, e-mails come in to BB already opened (in both the Messages icon and the Yahoo e-mail icon on the BB), only some stay bold until I click on them? This happens when I have not checked e-mail on BB or on my laptop, yet they still show as opened on BB with just a few staying bold or unopened? I have Auto Open in Holster set to Never, and don't do any reconciling. Any help with the two topics above would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

@D55R33WW - The previous client was able to correct this by adjusting the send/recieve frequency within Outlook and in your case within MacMail.
    More details...
If there are too many pop connections at once on the account then it will keep other connections from accessing the account and you will receive that error message.
What I would recommend here is that your customer adjust the frequency (10 mins or more) that their email client checks the mailbox.
To clarify a bit further, the system can handle the frequent pop connections, but sometimes the email clients fail to close their first connection correctly which leaves it idle on our system for some time.
Then when they try to connect again they encounter errors because there are already connections for that account.

  • Bellsouth "send" e-mail issues

I am having a Bellsouth send e-mail issue that has cropped up in the past couple of weeks (no changes in settings on my side). Don't know if it has anything to do with Bellsouth's conversion to AT&T or not.
Basically, I can receive e-mail and send newly created, blank e-mail. However, I am unable to send e-mail with attachments or reply to e-mails received or forward e-mails received.
I tried a suggestion of changing the port number from 25 to 587 to no avail. I confirmed my Preference setups with Bellsouth tech support and they say everything is configured OK. Thinking it might be Apple Mail, I downloaded and used the Thunderbird e-mail client, but that exhibits the same problems noted above (similar message about problems with the STMP server or the server is unavailable or is refusing STMP connections. Again, this only happens with certain types of sent e-mails noted above).
I am at a complete loss and don't know what to try next. Any suggestions????

I had problems when I converted to Mac last Spring, and most of the problems came from the DSL Tech Support Team.
