A few months ago my fan started making a lot of noise and is getting really hot. I've taken steps to prevent overheating, but nothing has changed. Is it a battery issue?
I've had the computer for 2 1/2 years and it started getting really noisy about 4 months ago. I'm using rulers to elevate the computer above the surface of the table to prevent overheating, but its still getting really hot and the fan is still making a lot of noise on and off. Could this be a battery issue?

A few months ago, my power mac G5 began starting up with the address book and mail already open on the desk top.
Neither of these is in my startup items, so I am at a loss as to stop this behavior.

In the Dock, right click the Address Book and Mail icons, select Options, and make sure "Open at Login" is not selected. -

The suggestion to reset the SMC is a good one, just in case the power management in your Mac needs a reset.
However, the fan loudness depends a lot on the type of Mac you are using, and also on the programs you are running.
Our iMac (2008) Core 2 Duo has fans, but you'd never know it as they run only with the quietest hum, if at all, or I just can't hear them.
On the other hand, the last two Macbook Pros that I have had (2010 and 2012 models) were usually quiet but their fans would revv up quite loudly when viewing streaming video, doing certain things in Firefox, etc. My daughter's Macbook Air is very quite except when running PhotoShop + iPhoto + Firefox and then its fans get loud.
You have a Macbook pro. Do the fans run loud always, or only when you use certain programs, video, etc. -

I have an iPhone 4S.I have been using an OEM charger to charge the thing up and early this morning it started to 'ping'and all night I was getting a ping,ping,ping.It stopped chartgbing at 46% and then died to 30% of charge before I found the old original charger cable and so far its all OK....Can some one explain why this would have happened or occured and have they had the same problem.
I am debating whetnher to order anew lead to charge the thing.....

I have had IPhones since their inception. Last phone was the 5. A few months ago, I upgraded to the 6 Plus.
Here is my issue.
On my 5, my car radio (which has USB port) allowed me to plug in and listen to radio or music from my phone and the bonus was it charged the phone as well. All worked great.
Now with the 6 Plus, neither of things work. The message on the radio (Kenwood) says I Pod error. The message on my phone say's "this device is supported".
I have called on this before and was told you are aware and that the issue will be addressed in a future update. There have been several updates on IOS 8 and the issue remains.I have a Kenwood KDC-X695. When I purchased this stereo and had it installed, I had an ATT iPhone 4.
It worked with the stereo, but had a few issues. I had purchased a few audio books that I would listen to while driving. When I plugged it in it would immediately begin to play the book from the beginning or if I had been listening to music, it would start playing the song that was at the top of the song list.
The stereo came equipped with Firmware version 3.05. I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a year later. I had that phone for approximately 2 years. The song or book issue remained the same.
I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 and the Bluetooth function still works, however the USB port on the stereo that the phone plugs into to allow files on the phone to play through the stereo no longer works.
I contacted the service provider (Verizon) and after speaking to several different technical support technicians, they provided me the phone numbers for Kenwood and Apple because they were unable to help me.
I spoke with Kenwood technical support the following day and after a few fumbling miscues from the technical advisor, it was suggested that I upgrade the firmware, even though the Kenwood literature warns against this if the Bluetooth portion is working, because if there is a problem with the upgrade, it can render the Bluetooth useless and non-functional. The advisor did suggest the latest firmware on the second or third attempt, after I pointed out what I was able to glean from my initial search.
Later that day, I went back to the Kenwood site (from their homepage) and by using their selection tools, discovered that this particular model was only ever intended to be used with the iPhone 4S (the technical advisor was not aware of this, even though I mentioned this during my phone call earlier in the day). According to the Firmware selection tool, my iPhone 5 should not have worked with it.
I performed the Firmware upgrade, and it took 13 minutes. This was less than the 15 minutes that was forecast in the Kenwood literature. The Bluetooth still works but the USB cable connection still causes the unsupported device message that I received prior to the upgrade. I am incredibly annoyed and disappointed.
By upgrading to the iPhone 6, I have three choices; (1) only use the Bluetooth for phone calls without the ability to play other files from my iPhone 6 (2) forced obsolescence of my stereo, requires buying a new stereo (3) return my iPhone 6 and go back to my iPhone 5.
I do not believe that I should have to be a software/Firmware/hardware engineer, vetting every single device that I own; prior to upgrading a cell phone.
I am incredibly annoyed with Apple at the moment.
I have a separate Bluetooth headset that worked with both my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that the iPhone 6 simply does not recognize. That is another story for another time.

Ok. So my iTunes started acting up a few months ago. ALL of the songs I purchased from the iTunes store stop in the middle of the song and then go back to the begining (I keep it on repeat one song by the way). Please help!!! (Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

I started using icloud a few months ago- I now find I have music on my iphone that my daughter purchased last year- I can't get it off as it does not appear on my Library on my pc. Any ideas- other than banning daughter from my account!
Add all the songs you want to burn the playlist onto the disk.

Have an iphone 5c 8g. The home button has stopped working. Did the same a few months ago and recovered 24hrs later. Can anyone explain this problem. Phone still in warranty. Had steam issue recently but this was after last home button episode and no evidence of damage.
If you are playing in hockey arenas a lot or if you are bringing it into bathroom same time as shower it may not seem like much but overtime the steam can acquire and build up in the phones usb dock flex cable swell as the home button flex cable. Bring again into apple store and should be covered under warranty again. could also be a delay in a 8gb 5c software may just be very lag.

I bought the Adobe student version of Photoshop and Premiere Elements a few months ago - and now I am trying to use it, and the serial number that I have is incorrect - or it is only the registration number or something? It says I should have been sent an email with the serial number once the product was registered - But I never received this email. If I were you I would first make sure CS6 was deactivated or signed-out. Then download Adobe's cleaner and remove cc, CS6 and any other creative application installed including Creative Cloud desktop application. Then install CS6 and use your CS6 serial number during the install to activate CS6 standard or extended which ever the serial number is for. CS6 Version 13.0 should the be activated. That level of CS6 is extremely bug ridden so be sure to the use CS6 menu Help>Updates to get CS6 updates. Windows should update to version 13.0.1.3 Mac to version 13.0.6. Not Subscription CS6 version 13.1.2...

I bought CS3 several years ago while in school, but had to drop out before I even opened the software. A few months ago I opened and installed the software and used Photoshop to complete a review project in preparation for my return to school. This morning when I tried to open Photoshop again I got a message saying the license didn't support the software anymore and I would need to check with my IT administrator or contact Adobe. I tried calling Adobe but the recorded message said CS was not phone supported. I know it took me a long time to get back to school, but it seems sad to waste the $1,000 I spent on the software. Is there a solution to this issue or do I need to buy new software? Thank you for your help if you have any suggestions.

Lost all printing with Leopard a few months ago, need to fix, please help.
I think all of my printing capabilities went away a few months ago when i updated to 10.5.6. haven't been able to fix it on my own.
I have a hp 130 and a konica 6500 with a ic-304 creo. the hp is set up from a windows printer server and connected through a networked ethernet. the creo is pretty much its own print server with ip address, also available through the windows print server.
I go to add my printer, enter in the ip address, or browse, choose my driver, add printer, ect. if I am able to accomplish those tasks, then i attempt a print, only to have the que instantly stopped, and i can't get it to resume printing or to print.
for the last few months, i've been using a tiger laptop, a virtual XP on the macpro, the Xp box on the konica printer and a thin client PC to print. but I'd really like to regain print functionality on the macpro and not have to deal with windows anymore.
have tried those weird security login things that pop up when i try to resume printing: (server/username), (username/server), (guest), updating firmware, re-installed drivers.
please help, I really don't understand security, or how to make it work with printing, or bypass it entirely. i don't know how to get printing back.well A.G., you are at least in luck, since its just the driver:

cant seem to open up word documents. I installed original disk a few months ago and was working fine up until yesterday. When i went to open up word a question mark would appear in the backround and now the WORD icon has dissapeared all together.Any way of fixing the problem?
Use Finder and search for 'Microsoft Word'. If it shows up, launch it from Finder and when it appears in Dock, right click the icon and select Options > Keep in dock.
If finder does not find Word it has somehow been deleted.
