A java application act like service

hi all,
i want to start a discussion if some one want to make a application in java which acts like service mean when it start .
may it remain active for 6 months, for that type of application what should we have to consider in mind?
if it uses DataBase whats is the good method for using DB that DB connection reset or null problems dnt occur.
it dont overload resources.
use optimized use of resources/
any suggetions please.
or refer any article.
thanks

if some one use static method in that type of
application, what could be cons or pros of this
system.That's impossible to answer. The pros and cons of that system is not dependent on if you are using static methods or not.

    First of all you should check out which products are supported on 64bit :- http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/hyperion-supported-platforms.html
    If you are planning on using windows 64bit EAS then you will have to manually deploy the web application, it cannot be automatically deployed.

  • Error while running Java Application as NT Service using INSTSRV

    Hi,
    I am trying to run Java Application as an NT Service using Instsrv.But when i start the service It works fine.when i stop the service it does not stop and it continues to run the application.When i uninstall the service It still executes.When i reboot my machine it stops .Is there any solutions for this.Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I actually had similar situation. I used autoexnt.ext tool (it creats a service that can be called when rebooting) to start a batch file which in turn run a java program. After the program starts, it can only be stopped through Task Manager or Ctrl-C at the dos window (it creats a dos window) or close the window directly. Stopping the service has nothing to do with the program. I feel this is reasonable because the only function of the service here is to start the application. After that the service does not (very likely) have any connection with the program so whatever you do with the service will not affect the program itself. I wonnder if you are in the same situation.

  • Adobe air html/js - application act like a browser.

    I just started in Adobe air html/js . In the current application I want to do something like this .
    I want to open the urls/web pages in the application and application should act like a web-browser to them .
    But with that I want to modify the opened pages a little, like add some css/js to them.
    Something like when you open Web pages in Firefox and a plugin (example grease monkey scripts) modifies the displayed content .
    Is it possible ?
    I tried opening in iframe it works , but I cannot add my own  JavaScript to the page (is there any way in air to remove cross domain  strictness?).
    Note: Please don't suggest that I fetch the html content of the page  and add it to the app body.  My app should really act as browser. (Adobe  air is webkit based so I think it can be achieved)

    Hi,
    Thank you for reporting this. The internal bug number for the issue is #2740755. The issue is currently under review and will be investigated by one of AIR team members.

  • How to start a java application as windows 2000 service?

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to start / stop a java application as a windows 2000 service. But nothing appens (I can see the screen that rapidly display the java help prompt and then disappear)
    I've a working directory i.e C:\MyDir and it contains instsrv.exe, srvany.exe and my application jar MyApp.jar
    I'm using instsrv.exe to register a java application as a service ( C:\MyDir\instsrv MyApp C:\MyDir\srvany.exe )
    I've added a key in registry by running regedit
    The key is under the tree HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MyApp
    the key value is Parameters
    in the key I've added a string value "Application" with the value "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_01\bin\java.exe"
    and a string value "AppParameters" with the value "-classpath C:\MyDir\MyApp.jar main" where main is the name of the main class application.

    The put the exe in the startup folder in windows.

  • Consume Enterprise Services in Java Application

    Hey guys,
    I'm very new in this field, maybe you can help me how to start....
    I want to call Enterprise Services (asynchronous, provided by SAP) from an external java application. Therefore I want to configure a integration scenario between two business systems: java application (consumer) and sap application system (service provider). Maybe you can help me to answer the following questions.
    1) What kind of adapter I have to use in communication channels?
    2) Have I to define outbound/inbound interfaces for Communication Component "sender" (business system: java application)?
    2) How does the communication between the java application and IS work? What kind of API I have to use - some kind of advanced adapter engine ... JCO, JCA ???
    Is there any demo scenario from sap? Please help me to start
    Kind regards,
    Christian

    Hello,
    problem is you are using wsimport on web-service which uses RPC/encoding. Wsimport use JAX-WS so it is not able read it.
    You should wscompile.bat instead it.
    Here is example :
    wscompile.bat -gen:client -d build/classes -s src -keep config.xml
    (-gen:client -says to generate classes for client
    -d - directory where to store classes
    -s - directory where to store sources
    -keep - to keep source file
    xml file
    Where config.xml looks like
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <configuration
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config">
    <wsdl location=
    "http://something/yourws?wsdl"
    packageName="org.your.package.client"/>
    </configuration>
    I hope it will help.
    best regards

  • Java application to act as background job on SAP J2EE server

    Hi Folks,
    I have a java class(assume, ClassA) in a DC. This class has a method to call a Web Service.
    I have to create one more DC, which contains my Java application.
    This application should make calls to ClassA's method after every 15 minutes.
    I guess I will have to create a servlet for this. Also, I think I can use java.util.Timer for making the regular calls.
    Can you please suggest me the ways to proceed on this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, Frank.
    Yes, we too have a cluster environment. In our case, this scheduler has to run only on one server node.
    As per the technical requirements, I went ahead with a Servlet application.
    The scheduler is running fine, except one problem.
    I need to call an EJB method deployed on the same server.
    Below is the code snippet.
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    MyEjbLocalHome objLocalHome = (MyEjbLocalHome) ctx.lookup("localejbs/my.com/abc~myearDC/MyEjbBean");
    I am getting ClassCastException at the above line.
    I am sure that the local home interface is correct and belongs to the same EJB.
    Can you please help me with this?

    Hi Shannon,
    The type of proxy I'm familiar with is at the http connection level and
    associated with the networking properties in the JDK, See:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/properties.html
    Your question may be related to JWS proxies, See:
    http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/howdoi/howUseTheJavaProxyForAWebService.html
    You may want to ask this question in the workshop newsgroup.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi, all;
    I try to find out how the java proxy of web service in weblogic server 8.1
    works. Suppose I use the java Proxy of a WebSerice in a client application whatever
    whithin or outside the application of the web service, does the proxy actually:
    1. translate my java arguments objects in XML to create SOAP msg,
    2. then send the msg across the network, and web service also response SOAP msg,
    3. then proxy translate it into return value of the method call ?
    If that is true , the Java Proxy seems very inefficient, right?
    Can any body tell me how the proxy works ?
    regards,
