A nice proposal för iTunes Store

I like to watch movies from iTunes Store. I often browse the content, new and old, to find movies I like to see. There is one feature I truly miss. So here is my proposal to Apple and next update:
When I browse the content in iTunes Movies I would like to flag or mark movies that I find interesting and want to watch later. But the moment I am browsing on my Mac or iPad is rarely the same moment when I have time to watch movies via Apple TV.
It would be real nice, when I jump into my movie sofa, to have easy access to the movies I cued for viewing, synced by iCloud between my devices.
Don't you agree? Wouldn't it be a awesome feature in iTunes?

  • We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Please can someone help. I keep on getting this when I try and buy a song or upgrade my iPhone aps. I have got the latest iTunes on my 15" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.5 (12F37). Last week I changed my password on //appleid.apple.com I could the access my account in iTunes. I have tried to log on to my account / view my account in itunes / buy a song and tried upgrading my apps, but I can't do anything now. it is frustrating. Please, please, please can someone help. :-)

Unsure if this will help anyone but I had the same problem with the message always coming up when I tried to login: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
What I couldn't understand was that I could log into iTunes online, but not through the iTunes app, becoming very frustrated I went to drastic measures to get everything working again - although I found this post after I had success.
To add to the issue, my iPhone (4S - iOS7) was visible on iTunes (latest version), but some of my apps had failed to sync (showing grey on my iPhone and being unable to delete them), causing further issues and adding to my frustrations....which attributed to the drastic measures posted below.
(You may want to try following the above posts before following my method)
**** Apple support provided me with an email containing many links, all of which didn't really help me, but I'll post anyway, just incase they assist someone else:
    "Dear Luke,
Thank you for writing to iTunes Store Customer Support, my name is Indra and I'll be assisting to you with your concern.
I understand that you are unable to login to your iTunes store account and getting message that the iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. I can imagine you must be eager to access your account and I will do my best to resolve this issue.
Luke, as an advisor for the iTunes Store, I handle issues related to billing, downloading, customer accounts, and the items available on the iTunes Store. Although your question falls outside of my area of specialty, I will be happy to assist you with resolving your issue.
I have verified that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting connections. The issue could have been temporary, related to your internet connection, your local network, or your computer itself. If you’re still unable to connect, this article outlines some potential solutions:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

Firewall, virus-protection, and web-acceleration software can prevent you from connecting to the iTunes Store. You might not be able to connect even if the software appears to be configured to allow full access to the iTunes Store. You can use the MSCONFIG utility to determine if software on your computer is preventing access to the iTunes Store. For detailed instructions, please refer to the following article:
Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista and Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292
If the articles above don't help you connect to the iTunes Store, I suggest testing to see if this issue occurs while you are signed in to a new user account on your computer. To learn how to create a new user account in your version of Windows, please read the article below for your operating system:
How to create and configure user accounts in Windows XP
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279783
Windows Vista: Create a user account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
Windows 7: Create a user account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account
Windows 8: Create a user account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-user-account
Once you are signed in to this new user account, open iTunes and try to connect to the iTunes Store. If you can connect without error, then you’ve identified that the issue is with the previous user account that you were using. You may want to consider adopting this new account as your user account and transferring your files from the old account to your new one.

But if the above doesn't work for you then you can follow my method...in the end, I perfomed the following actions which did work:
1).  Uninstalled iTunes from my computer (via Control Panel > Programs & Features)
2).  Located the iTunes folder containing media, Previous Libraries etc (normally located under your Music folder) and simply moved it to my desktop. (can't afford to delete)
    3). Downloaded iTunes.
4). Plugged my iPhone into my laptop and moved all contents across to my desktop (photo's).
5). Restored my iPhone erasing ALL data (extreme but desperate measures were required) - you may want to back it up, but I personally didn't have anything that I couldn't afford to loose on it.
6). Set-up my iPhone (set language etc...) including iCloud, but did not plug it into my laptop.
7). Chose the following iPhone settings>
              > iCloud - Contacts turned off
              > Mail, Contacts, Calendars - iCloud Contacts turned off (same end result)
              > iTunes & App Store - made sure I was logged in via Apple ID.
    7). Closed Outlook.
8). Re-installed iTunes, saving it on the C:> default location.
9). Followed the normal iTunes install prompts, setting it up as new. (making sure I had NO apps or music - clean slate)
10). Plugged my iPhone into my laptop, waiting for it to appear as it normally does.
11). Checked for iOS updates and iTunes updates (all good)
12). Checked Sync Contacts with Outlook (opening Outlook at the same time) - Calendars I left to the iCloud
13). APPLY....once sync finally completed (this time SUCCESSFUL) I was able to click iTunes Store and LOG IN.....finally!
I probably didn't have to perform all 13 steps, but that's exactly what I did to get everything working again!
There is probably someone out there who will be able to explain why I couldn't login to iTunes, why many of my apps didn't load onto my iPhone correctly, why everything failed to sync and probably able to shorten the above 13 steps to a quick fix.... but for now, everything is finally working and my 48hrs of frustration has come to an stress free end!

  • ITunes Store WiFi & Podcasts

    Hello all,
Quick question, don't think I've seen it out there.
Could anyone who has a touch tell me if you can download podcasts thru the Wifi iTunes Store feature? I'm thinking it must be possible, but would be nice to know if iTunes store is just for buying music, or if they've enabled this feature to let me keep up to date with me podcasts when I'm near a free spot
    Ta!

Give it time. They don't sell TV shows, music vids or movies yet either....but I'm sure they'll enable those first (which is a revenue stream for Apple) before podcasts....

For your first issue, of not letting you download the explicit version, report the issue to iTunes. And for the second and third, you can change the information stored within it to get them grouped together the way you want them to be.

  • Why is Authorizing a computer from the poxy icon on the LEFT top of the screen such a painful experience? Apple is adverse to nice big logical location? The iTunes Store icon rather detracts from the proper location, how about a simple picture with clue?

This had been driving me nuts. I just notices on the top left a little down arrow as clicking the iTunes Store icon on the right just took me to how many computers were authorized but not how to authorize it???? #@$%&!
Would it be that hard to have it on my account information?
Ugly software is what it is. Only found it by accident.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Hey I just got the monitor for my computer back (its the same one, it was taken away for about a week or so) and when I go to the Music store, I basically cant do anything BUT browse around the store. I cant buy anything, and if I try to, it says unknown error, (-9808). The same thing happens if i try to create a new account and i get error 9808. I signed out during a troubleshoot, and I cant sign back in. If i do, I again get error 9808. I also cant access most of the quick links. i cant access "Redeem", "Buy iTunes Gifts", "Account", or "Support". if i try, i get unknown error (-1202). i can however click on "Power Search", "Browse", and "iTunes News". can some one please tell me how to fix this? Everything was fine until I plugged in my monitor and turned on my computer for the first time in more then 2 weeks.

The Fix (& It's NOT Your Firewall)
    A. Symptoms
When you try to connect to the iTunes Store you may receive the alert message "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
    B. Resolution
Check your computer's date, time, and time zone. Set the correct date, time, and time zone if needed. If your computer's date, time, and time zone are all correct and you still see this alert message, this issue can be resolved by modifying certain settings in the Internet Options control panel:
    1) Go to the Start menu and choose Control Panel.
    2) Select Internet Options.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista you may need to select Classic View on the left before you can see Internet Options.
Note: If you are using WIndows 7 you may need to change "View by" to either Large icons or Small icons before you can see Internet Options.
    3) Click the Advanced tab.
    4) In the Settings box, scroll down to the Security section.
    5) Deselect the option to "Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)."
    6) Select the options for "SSL 3.0" and "TLS 1.0."
    7) Apply the changes and restart your computer.

I am afraid the are many possible causes for this.
Have you ever been able to connect to the store? If so, did you change anything just before the problem occurred?
The best way to start is to post your iTunes network connectivity diagnostics:
    Help>>Run Diagnostics>>Network connectivity tests.
Paste the entire result into your next post.
In the mean time, you will see a number of threads about this which may give you some help.
Try briefly turning off your firewall to see if that allows connection. Think about other aspects of security software, antiphishing filters, popup blockers, parental controls. Web accelerators and proxy servers can also cause problems.

  • Cannot access iTunes store after upgrading to Windows 7 Pro x64.

I recently upgraded from 32-bit Windows XP to 64-bit Windows 7 Professional by clean install (format) and re-installed iTunes for 64-bit systems. Since this upgrade, I can no longer access the iTunes store.
I can view and edit my account information and the diagnostics gives no clue.

Just wanted to say that I was having the same problem accessing the iTunes store. the problem was that I downloaded a PDF with a virus that masquerades as an Antivirus program, called Antivirus Soft. This thing installs itself and resets your Internet settings to its own proxy server. However, I don't use MSIE and didn't think to clear its proxy settings. I ran iTunes diagnostics and learned thet iTunes used the LAN settings from MSIE to connect to the Internet. Once I cleared the LAN settings from MSIE, I was able to connect.
SO, check your LAN settings if you're having trouble connecting but haven't received any Antivirus Soft warnings. The virus is a bear to get rid of. Any attempt to start an antivirus program is thwarted until you can get rid of the virus. You get "error messages" saying that any program you attempt to open is infected, but it isn't.I managed to get rid of Antivirus Soft by using McAfee Antivirus after a few attempt. The frustrating thing is that the viruis installs itself in your startup program, so you have to get your real antivirus running very fast after reboot.

  • The iTunes Store IS OUT TO GET YOU.

I just finished watching the 2nd season of Lost, and I thought to myself, "Gee, it sure would be nice to catch the first few episodes of the current season, so that I could watch along with the rest of the new episodes."
And of course, I use iTunes (although I've never used the store before), so I knew I had access at my fingertips. I set up a new account, eager to get to the episodes, and downloaded episode number one. The file was going to take a couple of minutes, so I checked my email.
Suddenly, the iTunes window disappeared from behind my email program. "What the...?"
Check the dock for confirmation -- yep. It's crashed. Gone. Not even the courtesy of an error message. I've been abandoned. I restart iTunes and sure enough, my Lost episode is gone. Check my downloads -- iTunes SAYS it downloaded just fine. And that I'll be charged accordingly. I scour my hard drive for anything resembling a video file that might be recoverable. Nada. Zip. Nothing.
Now, 1.99... not the end of the world. I'm more upset about the episode -- and since I'm not allowed to download it again unless I pay for it once more -- well. I'm a firm believer in the "Fool me once..." philosophy. So I shoot off a nasty email to iTunes store support, and I begin rooting around for the place where I'm allowed to cancel my account -- no point in leaving my credit card information out there in cyberspace if there's no use in it, right?
Yeah. That was a long time ago. Still haven't found it. Either Apple has so effectively buried the iTunes store account cancellation website/hotline #/post address/CB handle that I cannot locate the tiniest shred of evidence that it even exists -- or it just doesn't exist.
Is this legal? If I have an account with a store and they have my personal information on file, including my credit card number, aren't I allowed to cancel that account and force them to remove my information from their records? I understand of course that they can keep the info until they verify the payment on services and products I've already purchased (although 'purchase' usually implies 'receipt of goods'). But I have no long-term commitment with Apple. All they are doing is putting me at risk of financial loss through identity theft. After all, my credit card number is longer and harder to guess than, say, my iTunes store password.
This is all very scary to me. I just want to go to Blockbuster and forget that the iTunes store even exists.
    powerbook 17   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Max,
I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with iTunes. I've been using iTunes and Mac OS since 2003 and have had great luck. I mention this for a reason, though there are users that have been around longer than I, I've used os 10.2 - 10.4. That being said, I noticed that you're using 10.3.9 and I'm wondering why you haven't upgraded. You may have experienced an error the way you described because of the operation system you are using. I know that sounds far fetched, but actually, it's not. 10.3.8 was good but it had airport stability issues. Soon after it was patched with 10.3.9 and the whole system because solid all the way through. Now Apple builds software to support x number of years of hardware and creates software to function on x number of system versions; however, new versions of iTunes (for example) are going to take advantage or newer OS releases. I've been brave and kept current versions of iLife suites with current versions of OS X and everything has been solid as a rock, I promise. I would have presumed that it was related to Windows XP, which most extreme problems are, but you're on a PowerBook just as I am.
All of that aside, imagine the sheer volume of users on iTunes at any given point. Take all the Mac users in the US and then Expand that to Windows users too. Then expand that to several countries with both operating systems. (Want proof, look at everyone walking around with white earbuds.) I could imagine how it's hard to get a response so be a squeeky wheel because sooner or later you'll get some grease. I'm not trying to tell you, "tough," or anything of the nature. I feel bad that you are uncomfortable with iTunes. I assure you it's been great and I bet if you upgrade to 10.5 when it's released, you'll find less quarks. By the way, I've experienced less of "This app has unexpectedly quit" while using 10.4 that when using 10.3.
    Best of luck to you.
    Dan

  • When trying to update or add new apps to our daughters iTouch she gets and error saying "cannot connnect to iTunes stores."  What to do?  We have reset the password, gone into the apple store and so much more.

We are trying to update and add new apps to an iTouch and we get an error saying "cannot connect with iTunes store." We have already reset our password.

    Hello jaybearden,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Secure link to iTunes Store Failed, Can't restore iPhone.

    Good day,
Am hoping to get some help please. We recently upgraded our desktop from Windows XP to Windows 7. Re-installed all the software as well as iTunes 10.
All has been working fine, up until yesterday. The playlist which we where syncing with the iPhone 3G, had been changed and we wanted to sync the changes to the phone.
When preforming the sync, it got to the point where it said "Finishing Sync" in iTunes, the phone said "Sync in Progress" and iTunes froze completely. (Not Responding) Left it for about 30mins, after which it still said the same. I rebooted the machine and the phone, and tried again with the same error. I then tried removing all music and videos from the phone. Same problem.
My last resort was to attempt a restore of the phone. It started the restore and eventually got to a point where iTunes came up with the error 2003, unable to restore iPhone, the phone was now stuck in restore mode with the iTunes Logo and USB plug on the main screen.
So off to the iStore to get it fixed. The phone was reformatted/restored there and was working fine but I did not have any contacts/messages or photos on the phone, so I attempted another restore, so I could get my info back. It came up with the same issue again. Error 2003.
I then started browsing around and found out the iTunes diagnostics, it fails every time on the "Secure link to iTunes", iTunes has been added to the Windows firewall, I have tried un-installing my AntiVirus software and trying it with again but same result. I have checked the ports are all open. I have tried to reset my hosts file. I have reset my internet explorer settings, but nothing is working.
Can anybody help me out with this please.

The results show that you have a proxy server set and this can often cause problems with iTunes.
The proxy setting can be accessed in Internet options>>Connections>>LAN Settings.
Try un-checking the proxy server check box.
It might also be a good idea to run a malware check if you didn't know you had the proxy server set.
You can download a free version of an excellent scanner- Malwarebytes here:
