A request about keeping the "Issues we are aware of" post more up to date
A request: Please keep the "UPDATED - Issues we are aware of (updated August 5, 2007 07:30am)" more up to date with what issues Apple's aware of and intending to fix.
It's a nuisance to not know if:
1) a problem is caused by Apple's website being broken or slow or if it's isolated to my own computer, i.e. I'm having internet connection problems and when pages fail to load because a server can't be found, or Software Updater thinks its server is unavailable I'd like to know if it's Apple's site or my PB.
2) if Apple knows and cares about problems *not* listed in their update, i.e. things other than "My Questions, Populating the OS field, Using non-alphanumeric characters in posts, Logging on". For example, does Apple know about the blockquote html tag no longer working, or the annoying way after typing 4 or 5 characters how the cursor jumps to the end of the subject line and inserts whatever one was typing someplace it doesn't belong, the numerous Apache server errors, how the site seems to just randomly go down, etc.?
If you keep us informed it's less likely to annoy us or to make people generate threads about issues you are already aware of.

Please clarify your "Elements 12". Is that as in Photoshop Elements 12 (photo editor) or Premiere Elements 12 (video editor). And, on what computer operating system is the program running?

I'm hoping someone out there knows if I can use 1 apple ID and 1 iTunes account to sync 2 different iPhone 4S's - one for personal use, and one for work use. I would like to be able to sync with the same music and app's on both, but need to keep the contacts and calendars completely separate between the 2 phones since I don't want personal data on the work phone or work data on the personal phone. Can you help me figure this out?

Luckily, if you be very careful and pay attention to what you have selected in itunes, you can separate these things
Basically, in iTunes, there are tabs at the top for Summary, info, apps, etc..
These tabs control PER DEVICE what syncs between itunes and the device.
Therefore, you can plug iPhone 4S #1 in, and select to sync contacts with address book, then do so. Then plug iPhone 4S #2 in, and not choose to sync with address book. iTunes will keep these settings separate. However, in that situation for music and apps, you would check to sync both on both, in order to get all music and apps on each.
The only thing to watch out for, each computer 'user' has only one set of address book and ical, meaning that if you want to sync both phones to the computer, but dont want to mix contacts, only one phone will be able to sync contacts and/or calendars. Basically, each category in the Info tab will only hold one device's information, so you CAN do contacts with iPhone 4S #1, and calendars with #2. -

Sine the records are posted to FI/CO, the records in CATSDB will be with the status '30' appropved. Now if you want to change the hours recorded, change the same, so that the status changes as 'Change after approval' and release the same and transfer it to FI/CO again.
The records in the FI/CO interface tables will be overwritten.

What is the issue with cloud and syncing to laptop duplication of data
it is quite evident there is a major issued with syncing iphone with icloud to my macbook pro. I continue to get duplication of groups and numbers. Someone is not communicating the proper was to do this process.
iCloud will sync whatever you have set up, a e you sure it's an iCloud issue or a "view issue"?
What can happen on your Mac is that it keeps any "On My mac" contacts in your "on my mac" contact list. Their will also be a "iCloud" view that will represent the On My Mac contacts and your iPhone contacts. If your view is too wide open you maybe seeing "on my mac" and iCloud" contacts.
If your iPhone conatcts were slightly different than your Mac contacts they will be duplicated.
I found the easiet thing to do was to go to iCloud.com, log in and see what is in the iCloud contact list. If you have contacts from both your iPhone and your Mac then you are in great shape.
I cleaned things up in iCloud .com because I only want to have one contact list across my devices.

Confusion about how object interact and are aware of each other
I have this java applet
Two of the classes it contains are the main class with the init method and a UI class that is code for the interface.
the main class instantiates the UI class anonymously (i think you call it that) i.e it does not put it into a named reference it just creates it by calling new without assigning it to anything.
When I click on a button from the UI class I want to call a method in the main class...but how so?
At first I tried to make the function i want to call in the main class static so I could easily call it from the UI class...but then it began to get complex...so i just sent a reference of the main class to the UI class via its constructer.
Now i want the main class to update a JTable in the UI class, but how? It does not have any reference to the UI class.
What is really the standard method of operation for this sort of thing when objects have to be calling methods of each other. How do I make them aware of each other.the best way to do it is like this:

Previously downloaded apps in the app store are not downloadable any more
I had deleted apps on my iPad2 and now I'm trying to re-download them again from the Apps store, but these apps are dimmed in color, which indicates that I'm unable to download them any more. (The cloud is grayed out). Can anyone help?
Perhaps if you told us what those apps were someone here could verify if the apps are presently in the app store. Apps do not necessarily remain in the app store forever. Apps may be removed from the app store for a variety of reasons. If they are removed you will not be able to download them again.
If you have been syncing your iPad with iTunes on your computer you may have transferred all purchases from the iPad to iTunes. If you did that you could copy the apps stored in iTunes back to your iPad. -
the page that suppose to help you to change /reset security question does not contain link to change it .
I try using two web browsers and not luck on both .The option to send reset info, as described on the steps on that page, will only show if you have a rescue email address on your account (which is not the same as an alternate email address).
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use those steps to add a rescue email address for potential future use. -
I'm not going into detail but I've had it with my products being so crappy lately. From what I've read, Apple seems to not care as long as they are selling products. They have not acknowledged or owned up to the issues we are experiencing. I feel like maybe a boycott is in order. I cannot be the only one that is this frustrated with my iPhone and iPad!
The mail in rebate tells me that you sign a 2 year agreement. I have no idea why what they quoated to is different then what you got You could always do this:

In 4, the tabs are on top of all of my bookmarks making them harder to access and there wasn't an arrow by the forward/back page buttons that pulled up a list of past pages. this new layout is not user friendly!
There are solutions for those interface issues, but to address your question about keeping the old version, make sure your auto-update is set to ask you before updating you.

I have some ideas on how to fix the issues with CC subscriptions
This post is directed mainly at Adobe, but I would like the community to weigh in of course.
(BTW, if someone has suggested this already, I apologize in advance. I didn't get a chance to read through the hundreds of posts/replies about this subject).
It's pretty obvious that many people don't like Adobe's decision to go to a subscription only plan and there are understandable concerns over not being able to access digital content if/when the subscription ends. The purpose of this post is to discuss possible solutions to the problem. If you want to discuss the problem(s) or complain about them, this is not the right discussion thread. (unless it's in the context of offering a solution)
To get directly to the point, perhaps a hybrid model would be the best solution. What I mean is this...why not take aspects of both the subscription model and the perpetual license model and combine them? To help you further understand what I mean, I'll provide an example.
Give customers an alternative
Customer A purchases a CC subscription. After a year, customer A decides to cancel the subscription. Adobe obviously wouldn't think that the amount of revenue accrued from customer A after 12 months matches the value of the software provided (~ $600 USD). Naturally, they don't want to give away a perpetual license for all that software at that price point. On the other hand the customer still wants to be able to not only use the software, but more importantly, access the digital assets they have created during that the usage period. The hybrid model would allow the customer to transition to a perpetual license with some provisions:
Customer A can purchase a perpetual license at a prorated rate, based on how long they have had the subscription. The rate should be calculated based on the amount of the time the customer had a subscription and the amount of time between major software releases (i.e. if there is a 2 year period between major releases and the customer subscribes for 1 year, take the value of the software if it were a perpetual license and subtract the amount paid by the customer during the subscription...or something along those lines).
If customer A purchases a perpetual license (at the prorated rate), that person (or entity) would not be eligible for major upgrades unless they elect to enter the subscription program again.
If customer A elects not to purchase a perpetual license right away, they have until just before the next major release to purchase it if they want to purchase it at the same rate. If they wait until after the next major release, they may have the option to still purchase a perpetual license, but at a higher rate, but they can only purchase the version they had while subscribed. If they want the newer release they must reenter the subscription process.
Customers can't get newer versions of the software without first going the subscription route. Perpetual licenses are given as an option for those who do not wish to continue a subscription, but still need to utilize a version of the software.
I do realize that there are a number of scenarios to consider and need to be thought through. For example:
Customer B buys a subscription, stays on it for 3 months, and then decides to cancel. Customer B elects not to purchase a perpetual license but decides to reenter the subscription program a couple of months after canceling and keeps the subscription for a month (and so on).
How many times should a customer be allowed to exit/reenter the subscription program between major upgrades and still be available to purchase a perpetual license or should it even matter?
What's the best way to calculate the cost of a perpetual license in this scenario?
Should customer B be required to pay a reasonable "subscription reentry fee"? The thinking is, if customer C keeps a subscription for a full 24 months (between major upgrades for example) and customer B keeps canceling and reentering during the same 24 month period, should customer C who has paid more during that period than customer B be treated the same? Just a question.
Obviously, the above examples are only suggestions and more thought needs to be put into them, but the central concept is this...both sides can win! There is no reason why this situation can't be turned into a positive one where it's economically and practically feasible for both the customers and for Adobe.
Anyway, I'm not the expert and I haven't considered all the angles and possible scenarios (obviously). I just wanted to begin a discussion that might hopefully produce solutions to the problem(s).

How do I copy photos from my Mac to my iPad without deleting the ones that are there?
I understand how to sync photos from my iPhoto library to my iPad. I want to copy photos from my Mac to the iPad without syncing, because syncing deletes everything on the iPad that isn't included in my sync selections. In addition,I have several iPhoto libraries and want to copy photos from each of them to the iPad. A further issue is that apparently photos can be synced from only one computer to the iPad -- how would I copy photos from a different computer? (What happens when I buy a new Mac?) I am extremely experienced with Mac, iPhoto/Aperture, iPad, etc. A year or two ago I transferred 1000 photos to the iPad but I don't remember how, and it was probably done with my previous Mac. Now I just want to add some recent photos without deleting the ones that are there. Bottom line: is there a way to add photos to an iPad without syncing and losing what's there?
You can still sync the photos and keep the photos that are already on the device. You have to include all of the albums or events in the pictures folder that you sync from. If you are using iPhoto, select that in the Sync Photos from drop down menu and then select all of the albums or events that you want to sync. Make sure to check Selected Albums, events, faces and automatically include (no events). Using that option will allow you to choose exactly which albums and events to sync.
You have to remember that all photos must be included in every sync so you cannot sync photos from iPhoto today and then try to sync photos from another folder tomorrow, or you will erase all of the photos that were synced from iPhoto. You need to maintain one main Photos syncing folder for the photos that you want to transfer to the iPad. You can have subfolders within that one main folder and you can selectively sync those subfolders. You just have to place all of the photos that you want to sync into one main iPad syncing photos folder.
There are WiFi transfer apps that allow you to transfer photos to the iPad without having to sync with iTunes. I use this one. This app (and others like it) will allow you to use multiple computers to transfer photos.

HP printer does not prit black and white if one of the color heads are depleted?
I bought a 7110 A3 printer and have had several problems till today. The first was that the printer does not print in A3 format if the system is not in Amrican English. Now I just swap the black cartridge and when I use this printer says that the yellow cartridge is over and it does not print anything even in black or white! The strange thing is that i never print anything in color, only use black ink! I'm almost throwing the printer out the window, i do not know how i got scamed again by HP . I had promised myself never to buy anything from this company anymore!
