A shortkey to extend work area to view bar

Usually i use ; shortkey to toggle between one frame view and total composition lenght. Please anyone know if is there a shortcut to expand the work area to the full view? Thanks

Sorry, I didn't explain well. I need just to fit the full timeline view to the work area length. i. e. I set the work area length to a layer length, then I need to see all key frames of that layer as near as possible. i could also say that i need to enlage or reduce the full timeline view just to fit the work area lenght. Thanks

Extending "work area end"

I am using After Effects Cs3 and can not extend the "work area end" indicator beyond 20 seconds. It seems it should be as simple as dragging it to the right, but that does not work. I can only make it shorter by dragging it to the left. So no matter what the duration of the file I import it will only give me 20 seconds or so of the video. I need to make a video longer than 20 seconds. Can someone please tell me how to fix this? Thanks!

One way to extend a project is to use the Compsition Settings. In the compoisiton window right click the name of the composition and chose `composition settings' from that menu. In the resulting dialog down at the bottom is `Duration'. I use that to extend a project.
If you already know this, then its out of my league. But if that helps then understand too that any layers on the timeline will have to be extended to the new end manually ... or at least if there are only a few, manually is good.
Make sure you are extending a layer and not moving it... it pretty easy to mix those up.

Extending work area for fly in graphic

Hey folks
I'm new to after effects so please bear with me.
I have a project where I'm trying to start off with logo that is very large and extends off the stage ( to use a flash term). I want the entire logo to drop down in size so that it can be read and the entire logo fits the screen. The problem I'm having is that the logo gets cropped in the process and when I bring down the size only the cropped part gets smaller and I only have a partial part of the logo.

The graphic was brought in as an AI. My question is how do you start off with an over sized graphic and bring it down in size. For instance if I was showing a window in a house on the opening frame and ended up in the last fame with entire house shwing. How is it done in after effects.

Does the network extender work in "extended coverage" areas?

We are going to be at a cabin in a rural area that is in "extended 3G" / "extended digital coverage" according to the verizon coverage map (a few miles east of Arnold, CA).
As the cabin has internet (we go there every summer), will the network extender work given that it's in an extended coverage area? I usually get 0 bars when I am at the cabin and it would be nice to be able to make/receive calls on the cell phone without having to drive into town several miles away.

How do I view my entire video after I do the whole "Trim Comp to Work Area" thing?

I've trimmed a video to the work area or something using the B and then N, then Right click, Trim Comp to Work Area, finished doing what I want to do.
My question is how do I zoom out to see the WHOLE video (outside the trimmed area) again so I can repeat for the next area?

If your original comp was 40 seconds and you set the work area from 10 seconds to 30 seconds and you trimmed your comp to work area your new comp starts as zero and ends at 20 seconds. The footage layers are all the same length but they are just outside the boundaries of the composition.
To get the comp back to it's original 40 seconds open the composition settings and change the length of the comp back to 40 seconds. Now the comp is long enough, but your layers have shifted because changing the duration of a composition just adds time to the end of a comp. To fix the problem you will have to select all layers and then drag them to the right until the in point of your layers that originally started at zero line up with the first frame of the composition. This is not difficult to do unless every layer in your composition originally had it's in point before the zero mark.
As Mylenium and Szalam said, you have a basic misunderstanding of the concept of a composition and the work area. I change the work area around to RAM preview different sections of the comp and I use the trim comp to work area to permanently change the length of the composition and change the in and out points for the rendered sequence. Most of the time, however, when I'm editing a section of my composition I usually set the Ram Preview to From Current Time. It's much faster to move the CTI to where I want to preview the animation and press Zero on the numeric keypad than to monkey around with the work area.

Firefox worked fine yesterday, but today it wont load. I tried unstalling and downloaded a new version. Got message the extended attributes are inconsistant.

ATried to open Firefox browser to read mail but it wouldnt open. An error message indicated something about version 12 and version 11 issues so I uninstalled Firefox and used Explorer to download a fresh copy. Wouldnt install.

I ran the System File Checker and it told me there are corrupt files that could not be repaired. I dont understand all the info that I read on the CBS.log, but from what I gather from the link you provided I'll be doing a reformat today. :(
What puzzles me is the fact that all was well when I shut down my computer but by morning there were corrupt files????? Strange no virus, no malware so what on earth happened? The million dollar question.:)

Accidentally hit the 'trim comp to work area'. Now I can't get my files back into comp timeline.

I'm using After Effects CC on my macpro. When going to add a shot to the render queue, I accidentally hit the 'trim comp to work area' and didn't notice what had happened until I went to go back to work on other shots. I tried to hit Control Z but it was too late it seemed and it wouldn't go back to how it was. i tried resetting the length of the comp and putting the files back, but no use. Tried making a new comp and copy and pasting all the files in the side panel of my orig comp, but nothing. Tried re-adding the same file from the project window and copying and pasting the effects keyframes from the orig shot to the new one but they didn't line up properly.
I still have all the files in the comp side panel but can't seem to get them back into the now extended timeline. I still have all the effects I've been doing for the past 3 weeks, but can't do anything to get them into a position where I can continue to manipulate them.
I've searched a bunch of forums and can't find this problem anywhere.
Have I lost all my work? Please help.

It appears that you've pushed those layers into negative time, which you can't view in the Timeline. To get the layers back into the Timeline view, you'll need to move the layers in time with keyboard shortcuts. I assume that you've got your layers arranged in an edit, and you want to preserve their relationships, so do the following:
Select all of the layers.
Hold down Alt/Option+Shift and press Page Down until the layers are visible. This shortcut moves layers 10 frames later in time. Removing Shift moves them 1 frame at a time. Using Page Up instead of Page Down will move them earlier in time.
Another useful pair of shortcuts is [ and ], which set the in or out points of the select layer(s) to the current time. But you probably don't want to use those shortcuts in this case because you'll lose the time relationships of your edit.

Cascading Dynamic Parameters Do Not Work In Crystal Viewer 2008?

I have generated a report with Crystal Reports 2008 that uses a dynamic cascading parameter. I work in waste management and the report I create in Crystal is used as a "template" with the tonnages collected from all of our customers. Our less technically minded employees can then open this report with Crystal Reports Viewer 2008, use the drop down menus to select only the customer they need a report for and then export this to PDF for delivery.
The report as designed works perfectly in Crystal Reports, but the parameter does not work in Crystal Viewer.
Some of our customers have more than one physical location that we service. The cascading dynamic parameter in my report allows you to select the customer name, and then it only shows the locations linked to that customer, so the end user can select only the relevant location(s) for the report. The cascading parameter is dynamic and allows multiple selections, and is linked to a Saved Data formula. The report is saved with the data.
When the report is opened in Viewer, one of two things happens. If the report is saved in Crystal Reports and a specific customer/location is selected, then ONLY those selected customer/locations are available in the Viewer. If ALL the customers/locations are selected in Crystal Reports and saved, then in the Viewer they are all available, but selecting one customer does NOT narrow down the locations (i.e. it does not "cascade") and instead ALL of the locations are available even if they do not apply to the customer.
If I use a single dynamic parameter and select ALL of the customers (for example), then when this is opened in Crystal Viewer all of the customers are available from the parameters drop down and the report works fine. As soon as this is tried with a cascading parameter however, Crystal Viewer falls down.
Does anyone know of a workaround to this or if there is something I am doing wrong?

I am using the free Crystal Report 2008 Viewer along with designing reports with Crytal Reports ver 12.3. With a test file from SAP called "Interactive Parameters", the parameter feature works to refresh the report. The parameters that are supplied in the sample report work with Viewer. They show up under the parameter list in the parameter side panel in Viewer and are available to make record selections. When I add a parameter to the sample report in Crystal 2008 and then view the report in Viewer, my parameters are unavalable for record selection while the original parameters remain available. Futher, my parameters are displayed under a section called "Current Data Set" in the Parameter side panel, while the selectable parameters are displayed under the "Parameter" section in the parameter side panel. There must be a setting that is treating the parameters I create differently form the parameters created in the original sample report. Any help would be appreciated.

Dreamweaver 8 work area redraw problem

Hi all, I'm having severe problems with screen refreshes in
the work area - dreamweaver doesn't seem to be able to redraw the
screen. I've no idea what is going on to try and resolve the
problem and have tried completely removing dreamweaver and doing a
'clean' reinstall to no avail.
When first started up dreamwaver draws the menus, property
bars and tool palettes ok but the Windows XP desktop shows in the
workarea. pages can be displayed and worked on alright in the split
window view, but neither the code or design views display
correctly, and CSS style sheets cannot be displayed for editing (a
window appears, but you can't see anything in it - or a split
code/design window style is displayed). dragging a document window
around the workarea leaves a trail of 'echos' of the window in the
work area.
This is a complete mystery to me - have tried installing on
two different machines (both WinXP SP2) and applying available
updates to DW8... similar problems on both machines.
Anyone got any ideas?

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the nature of this feature but from reading the text in the manual I would come to expect
that hitting i.e. J&K - would go the next visible item in the ruler be that a Keyframe or Marker etc... However, when I hit K timeline takes me to the end of the composition and J to the beginning. And I have a lot of markers set.

It works on layer markers and keyframes, but not comp markers. Furthermore, it will also not work, if index items have been scrolled out of view or are shy even if the property streams and their keyframes are otherwise visible. This has never been any different, but it's quite annoying.

When I open an image in Photoshop, I cannot see the file. The thumbnail in on the right, but I cannot see the image on the work area. I am using Windows 8

When I open Photoshop CS6 I cannot view the image. The thumbnail is visible on the right hand side and the work area shows the file information, but no image. I have updated PS, my driver. It is the same for both jpg or RAW.

Be sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Try disabling GPU acceleration in the preferences then restart Photoshop.

how is your work are structure - is it only with single field ?
In your script after the each value give an extended line comman "=" which will take first and second values for print and after the second value give "line feed" or "carriage return" command.

Which range extender works with the Linksys CIT400 phone?

Which range extender works with the Linksys CIT400 VoIP phone? Can I use any range extender from any other comany or does it have to be one from Linksys? I am not sure if the CIT400 uses standard frequences.
On a side note, where's the forum for the phones? I see one in the archives section which seems to be ready only.

You can use the Linksys WRE54G range expander. For that matter, any 2.4Ghz range expander will work. But what’s more important is what router you would be using the range expander with!! Which router are you using?

Change Background Color Of Work Area

I am a user of Acrobat 8 Professional and just loaded Acrobat
9 Professional. Does anyone know if you can change the background
color of the work area (documentation pane and navigation pane ).
When I view a PDF the document is ok but the background color of
the navigation pane and documentation is black.
Is this the new look for Acrobat 9?
Is there a way that I can change the color?
I have searched Acrobat>Help and
Acrobat>Support>Knowledgebase and find nothing.

How do I rid work area of a double-dashed outline box that suddenly appeared on screen?

Problem solved... by selecting VIEW - - "Hide page tiling" to delete the 'box' from my work area.
