Email Security

Hey Marvin here Curve 8530...
I am trying to tighten security on my device. I just do not want the typical "can I use your phone" person snooping inmy email... Not that I have anything to hide, just some things are private and I wanna keep it that way...
When I goto Email Settings > Options > Scroll down to Create User Name, this takes me to a Create a login screen which reads:::
Currently, without having a login, you have secure access to BlackBerry Internet Service for your email settings. If you decide to create a user name and password, you will be required to log in each time.
This will be a permanent change!
By creating a login for your BlackBerry Internet Service account, you will have access to your email account settings from a browser on a computer.
Complete the following steps:
1. Create a login
You must create a user name and password from your BlackBerry device.
NOTE: You will be required to log in each time you access email setup on your device
2. Validate email accounts
You must type passwords for all of your email accounts to resume email delivery on your BlackBerry device.
Then there is a cancel and a next button at the bottom which I have not hit the next button because it eads rhat this is a permanent change and do not want to permanently change device settings which I do not need...
Is this function something that makes me create a user name and a password to open my email from the homescreen?? I hope so because that's what I am wanting but I'm not understanding what that is... Will someone explain that to me please and thanks,,,

No. That function creates a username and password for your mobile service provider BIS account, where you go to SETUP your email accounts pushing to your BlackBerry.
If you want a SINGLE password on your ONLY your email folder screen, check out EveryLock and iLock on AppWorld. I don't know IF they lock the email folder, I they do picture folders and SMS.

  • Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) - Reporting

In previous versions on ESA you could export data and reports in CSV formats using an API. Is that still available?
    >From the following document :
IRONPORT ASYNCOS 6.4 REPORTING API FOR IRONPORT APPLIANCES
    REPORTING API OVERVIEW
The Reporting API feature allows you to download the same data collected by the Email Security Monitor component of the IronPort Email Security appliance or Security Management appliance in a comma separated value (CSV) format. This format allows users to integrate the IronPort appliance's data gathering capabilities into other IT and business reporting systems.
    DOWNLOADING REPORTING DATA
You can retrieve the data used to build the charts and graphs in the Email Security Monitor feature via HTTP. This is useful if you plan to perform further analysis on the data via other tools. The data is available in standard comma separated value (CSV) format. The easiest way to get the HTTP query you will need is to configure one of the Email Security Monitor pages to display the type of data you want. You can then simply click the Export... link to initiate the download process.

It went away, there's a new one (RESTful) in 9.0/9.1

When I try to open an .ai/pdf file received through my email, it won't open and asks for a password. I have never set up any kind of password for email security, but have tried typing in my standard passwords. Nothing works. I wonder if it has anything to do with the use of my Wacom3 Tablet...I've been having trouble with it and was getting the same message when trying to open the User's Manual in my Applications/WacomTablet file on my hard drive. Any suggestions? I just downloaded the latest version for the Wacom and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (which I hate, and my CS3 hates, etc.)

It sounds like you have a a password-protected PDF. The password was set by the person who encoded it.

  • Email Security Plug-in - Doesn't seem to work with right click or save and send

I've searched the knowledge base but have not located the answer yet.
We have the Encrypt Message plug-in installed to flag the email [SEND SECURE].  This works very well when in Outlook.  It does not seem to work when right clicking a file to send outside of Outlook or performing Save and Send from within Microsoft Office.  The add-in still shows and users are clicking it and the Send button but the emails are not going securely.  We are on Microsoft2010 on mostly XP machines.
How can I get Encrypt Message to work in all instances?
    Thank you.

  • Encryption is now part of the Email Security forum

With the release of AsyncOS 5.5.0 for Email, the encryption feature is integrated into the Email Security Appliance. We've integrated the Encryption forum into the Email Security forum to reflect this change.

Setting up encryption to be applied to outbound email that gets relayed through the Ironport appliance is quick and straight-forward. In a matter of minutes, you can get this feature up and running. Contact Ironport technical support if you have any questions or comments on how to use the encryption feature.

  • About CPU utilization value of ironport C370 email-security-appliance

    Hello all,
What is the normal / abnormal value for the following parameters of ironport C370 email-security-appliance ?
    total active recipients
    active messages in work queue
    CPU utilization

Each appliance would be a little different based on the expected mail processing, throughput for your environment/domains... and then throw in which processes you have turned up (IPAS, AV, VOF, etc.)...
Typical C370 (running 8.0.1) should be able to handle:
    1. ~18 +/- recipients/sec
    2. average workqueue ~ 462
    3. average CPU utilization of ~ 91%
The #s vary, again, based on what you have enabled and licensed.  You would be well suited to open a dialog with your Sales Ops/Account team, as they have means to determine the proper numbers and outcomes for your environment.
    I hope this helps!

  • Email security when sent from Desktop

I work for a small company with a couple of users that have their own BBs.  We are on Exchange Server 2007 and our users are running MS Outlook 2000 locally (with their own .pst files, if that matters).  They would like to have their work email sent to their BBs which I don't see as a problem except for one thing, when email is sent to them at work and it is forwarded from our Exchange server to BBs servers, is that email secure?  I know that it is secure when it is sent from BBs servers to their devices.  We do not have BES.
Thanks for your help and consideration.

What email back-end system are you using? Exchange? GMAIL?...........

  • Cisco Ironport Email Security inline with Microsoft Forefont

    Hi,
We are going to deploy Cisco C370 Email security appliance as new email relay in our DMZ. Currently Microsoft Forefont is already doing the same functionality and new Ironport email security appliance will be added as 1st layer of email security.
I would like to know what are the changes that we should consider in this deployment in order to forward mail to Forefont, is there any specific configuration on both products and what is the best method of deployment etc.
Also I would appreciate if there is any Cisco/Microsoft documentation available for such deployment senario.
    thanks in advance.

    Hello pemasirid,
as far as I can see from your description is that you add the ESA C370 as an additional gateway, so I would say there is little you need to change in your current network design. As this is all about SMTP getting forwarded, you basically just need to take care of the following things:
On Forefront: Allow injections from the ESA(s) and forward all outbound messages to the ESA
On the ESA(s): Insert the Forefront IPs into the RELAYLIST of the private listener to allow outbound messages. Also set up an SMTP route to forward inbound messages to the Forefront server.
Also change public DNS to point to the public IPs of the ESAs, in case they are different from what you have used before
A good starting point for deploying would be the Quickstart Guide for C370, that you can find in the support section for email security on Cisco.com. Also, the user guide, which is also available on the GUI of every email appliance (GUI: Help and Support -> Online Help).
    Hope that helps,
    Andreas

  • Understanding how email security flow works

    Hi
i just new to the Email security,i have few doubt on the concept how it work.
Suppose one mail coming from the Outside, first the mail goes to
Incoming Mail Policies --> Check policy --> Matches --> HAT tables --> Check Sender group --> apply Mail flow policy
--> content filter ---> connect to SMTP
Is that way it works ? or give me simple term how acctually works

  • How reliable is Barracuda's Email Security Service?

Hello All,We just purchased a Barracuda Spam and Virus Firewall 400. We have always had exchange hosted in house and knock on wood this has been rock solid for us. Part of the sales pitch that caught my eye was the Email security service which is included free of charge if you have one of their appliances/virtual appliances. The ability to store up to 4 days of emails and do pre-filtering is very appealing to me, however the reliance on a hosted solution so to speak has me nervous.Looking at their forums and on other sites I see complaints of it being down, delayed emails etc. Some of these complaints are older threads though. What I am curious to know is how it the level of service now. If you are using this setup or have used it in the past what was your experience? It's a feature I don't have to enable, change mx records etc, but if...

I live in the hills of Vermont and have had a 3G broadband plan for about 6 months with the 5GB usage plan. I use a cell signal booster that consistently provides a solid two to three bars according to VZaccess Manager. The overall broadband service is sporadic in terms of speed and up time. For example there are frequent periods where the service just disappears (my cell phone will still show 3 to 4 bars while this is happening).
However this issue is minor in comparison to the obvious speed throttling that takes place over the course of the day. It is almost like clockwork - speeds prior to 6 AM or so are up to ~0.5 Mbps and somewhere between 6 and 7 AM start deteriorating down to my dialup modem speed of 50kbps or slower. Of course there are days when the speeds may be higher - up to 150-200kbps. By Golly there are even a couple of daytime periods of max speed (0.5mbps) per month.
After 7 or 8 PM the speeds slowly start climbing again so that by about 11 or 12 PM they may reach the 0.5mbps threshold.
FYI my monthly usage is around 1GB, with one month at a whopping 2GB. There is no way that I have the time to wait for my usage to ever reach 5GB for a month. Looking at biting the bullet and cancelling this plan - does not live up to the hype in terms of speed, quality of service and consistency.

  • Email security and AMP ( Sourcefire ) integration

    Hi,
According to public release from cisco :
    http://newsroom.cisco.com/release/1354516/Cisco-Adds-Advanced-Malware-Protection-to-Web-and-Email-Security-Appliances-and-Cloud-Web-Security?utm_medium=rss
There is now integration of AMP into the email and web appliance. I cannot find any information regarding versions or licenses needed to take advantage of this functionality. If customer is sitting on a Sophos license today for example, will AMP be an addon or replacement of this license ?
    Any info is appreciated.

    Hi Daniel,
We announced the software integration at RSA last week. It will be available as a feature in the next 2 to 4 weeks as FCS code (First Customer Ship.) It will be a separate software license for the cloud inspection and a separate license for the cloud sandboxing. It will not be included in any existing licenses. This is the upcoming 8.5.5 version of AsyncOS.
In the mail pipeline it will come after Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus engines and before Content Filters and Outbreak Filters. You will be able to do Content Filter inspections and actions based on AMP results.
Also at RSA we announced the integration of Web Categorization and Web Reputation technology from the WSA into the ESA. This will be included as part of the Outbreak Filters license. Web Reputation is embedded into the anti-spam engine and Outbreak Filters. Web Categorization is available as a condition and as an action in Content Filters. You can do actions such as defang, re-write to Proxy, or replace URL with text or any other Content Filter action such as drop or quarantine messages with Adult or Pornographic category URLs. This is the 8.5.0 version of AsyncOS and is available today as FCS code.
Please work with Cisco TAC to have your devices provisioned for 8.5.0 FCS code if you wish to test.

  • Enhanced email security letter

Regarding the recent letter about enhanced email security, am I required to do something or can I just ignore it and still download my email into Outlook?  Thanx...

I received the enhanced email security letter on Wednesday, 1/4/2012.  I immediately checked the website link provided, changed the ports as directed, and changed the security settings to SSL.  All was fine on Thursday, 1/5/2012 and I was able to download my email without problem.  This morning (Friday, 1/6/2012), after starting my email program, nothing downloaded.  I opened my email account via web interface and there were 32 emails waiting in my inbox.  What is happening and why can't I download my email?  Also, the instructions on the website mentioned only Outlook for email.  Are you now saying that I can use only Outlook?  The most hack-prone email interface on the planet?  I use Mozilla Thunderbird and I have no desire to change.  Please respond ASAP, I do not want my mail piling up on your server.  Thank you.

  • OSB (11.1) : Is Email secure (crypted and signed) supported ?

    I'am trying OSB 11.1 on WLS 10.3.4.
I try to read secure email message (I use IMAP).
In the proxy service I have set security to a service Key Provider with key to decrypte email message.
    Message aren't decrypt.
so, is email secure (crypt) is suproted by OSB ?
    Thanks in advance.

Agree. As per my knowledge as well, message security(digital signing and encryption) is only supported with Web Services. You may raise a SR with support to get formal confirmation and to raise an ER. As a workaround, you may try to pass the read mail message to a local web-service proxy which can perform decryption.

  • Email security Q: Connection to server succeeded; login not required

    Hi everyone
I ran the Mail Connection Doctor on my mac at home this morning as I was having trouble sending an email.  One of my email accounts (SMTP) has come back with:
"Connection to server succeeded; login not required. "
I am just wondering what that means security wise? As it is my work email I am a bit worried that perhaps the IT people didn't set it up right? They've been having a lot of trouble with someone spoofing the boss's email too.
Does that mean that anyone who knows this email servers details can just use it?
All my other email accounts come back with "Connection and login to server succeeded".

    Dear Samir,
In order to try to resolve the issue, please do the following steps :-
    1. Go to Add/Remove Program --> Uninstall SAP Business One Client.
    2. Go to C:\Program Files\SAP, then take a backup of the SAP Business One Folder and
then delete the SAP Business One folder.
    3. Go to Start --> Run --> %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\SAP\
Then delete the SAP Business One Folder.
    4. Now reinstall the SAP Business One Client application from the B1_SHR.
Now you can login and enter all the details information and then log out from SAP Business One
application. You can open the application again and check this issue.
Note : Please make sure that the Windows user has read and write access to the above two folders
as per step (2) and (3).
