A slightly complex date question

Hello,
I have a series of date ranges, for example:
08/02/2008-08/04/2008
07/06/2007-07/10/2007
06/05/2006-06/12/2006
The user enters another set of dates:
08/01/2008-08/04/2008
I need to make sure that the range of dates they enter do not
overlap with any of the dates mentioned above. The one that the
user entered would conflict with (1) above and should return an
error.
If they enter another date like:
01/01/1999-02/15/2009
This should also return an error because this date conflicts
with ALL of the date ranges above. I would appreciate any help on
this issue.

No:
I need to check for date overlaps.
08/14/2008-08/20/2008
And I enter 08/15/2008-8/17/2008, this should yield false,
because this date range has dates that overlap. If I enter
02/07/2007-02/09/2009, it should also yield false, and so should
08/13/2008-08/15/2008, and 08/17/2008-08/22/2008.
All of them are invalid dates and should not be allowed.
Maybe I am explaining the issue improperly. Basically, no
single day within the range I enter should overlap with any single
day within the existing date range.

  • How to return complex data to PL/SQL pkg from java running in JVM

    Hi, I don't know where could I post this question, so I post it here.
    In Oracle, we could create object as type, and can pass it to Java (powered by JDBC I guess, but I don't know how to, if some one know, please tell me where could get the good document to teach me about this), but is there any way could return complex data (maybe in Oracle Object Type) to PL/SQL (not using long & seperated by sign string / using middle table)?
    If you know, please tell me how to / tell me the url or book name for how to do this, thanks!

    in short just reference the parent collection as your
    dataprovider then use dataField="nodename" to get that data in your

  • Complex data polymorphism with functions

    Hi Labview forum,
    I just came across several bugs in my VIs processing of complex data.
    I created the VIs with real data as inputs and outputs.  Then later wanted to use them with complex data input.
    I think the VI threw away the imaginary components of my data.  Can some one confirm this is labview's behaviour?
    Now the question is, can I make VIs which recognise whether the input and operational output is real or complex and treat it as such?  Or should I set all my data types to be complex unless I know for sure they will be real.  The indicator displays don't look so nice when there are a whole series of +0i's.
    Regards,
    Jamie
    Using Labview version 8.0

    Jamie,
    You are correct in your first statement that LabVIEW "throws away" the imaginary components of your data if you connect a complex data type to a real number indicator (i.e. UINT8, 16, etc). You can tell that a transformation is occuring because a coercion dot appears at the corresponding terminal on the block diagram.
    One method to recognize whether or not the input data is complex is to use a case statement to determine if LabVIEW should treat/display the number as complex or real. I have attached a quick sample example that implements this design.
    One note with the code within the case statement is that it uses references to the indicators and property nodes to make the correct indicator visible. To see more information on this feature consult the LabVIEW help documentation.

  • Complex data structure.

    Hi,
    This is a design issue that I have run into many times and I was wondering how you all solve it. When using complex data structures (such as array of clusters, or clusters containg arrays and/or other clusters), I have found that there are many situations where you need to wire either an "empty" stucture or the type of the structure as an input. For example, when building up the data structure, I often use shift registers, and need an empty data structure to initialize the shift register. Also when bundling a cluster by name you need the type of the cluster. My question is - what do you use in these situations? Of course, I always typedef my complex structures, and I know that there is a default value for them, because other language featu
    res depend on there being a default. Is there anyway to get the default value for a typedef? Not seeing one, I have taken to creating a Global or Dummy VI for each typedef that returns a default data structure, which is what I use in all these situations. What other approaches have you seen?

    > of the cluster. My question is - what do you use in these situations?

    > have you seen?
    You can right click on a wire or terminal and create a constant for the
    type already there. This will sometimes fool you if you are wanting the
    input to a shift register since the types flow downstream and you want
    upstream. Just click somewhere whe
    re the type is known, create the
    const and move it where you want it.
    The BIG downside to this is that typedef constants tend to be BIG. My
    favorite solution is to make a subVI that returns the default for the
    typedef. Put it in user.lib and it is readily accessible. You can
    think of it as a constructor for your datatype, if you want. In fact
    you can make several of these or parameterize it to return different
    flavors. Being the size of all other icons, it fits nicely into the
    diagram and adapts to typedef changes.

  • Exe on Cloud Service crashing for slightly larger data

    Hi,
    I have launched a C++ exe in cloud service which is working fine for smaller data and crashing as we provide slightly larger data which is taking hardly 5 minutes to solve when running locally.
    Can anyone suggest what could be the issue???
    Thank you.

    Hi ,
    It seems that this is the executionTimeout error. Please try to change "executionTimeout" value.
    <system.web>
    <httpRuntime executionTimeout="600" />
    </system.web>
    >>Also, can you explain the parallel approach that we can use to handle data on azure role. I am using a single web role in my application.
    I am not familiar with C++, but I think you could use the concurrent or multiple threads on your projects:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/218786/concurrent-programming-c
    And I found some resource about how to deploy exe on azure, please refer to it:

    Another way, You also used the startup script to start and run the EXE file, you could see this blog,

  • SAP ABAP have the ability to handle complex data types

    Hi all,
                We are developing a Function Module/BAPI that is actually sending and receiving information to and from a third-party system and none of them are "complex data types".
    I have a question does SAP ABAP have the ability to handle complex data types ???

    could you give an instance of the same...& to what extent can it handle???
    we have a web service layer to handle complex data types between BAPI calls and the third party system.

  • Complex Data Merge

    Hi Indesign wizards.
    I'm doing a complex product catalogue for a client. It contains around 1.800 products spread out over a little more than a hundred pages. The catalogue is in four languages and is to be exported both with and without prices. Each product contains various details, an image, a barcode (eps), an icon (eps). Because the catalogue is being printed in four languages, we create it so that it is only the black printing plate that varies.
    I create all four languages at once by doing them on different layers, but Indesign always crashes for a couple of hours and then all of a sudden is finished. I think a data merge takes around 4 hours.
    So my question is, if any of you have experience with this kind of complex data merges. Is there a way for me to speed it up by tweeking some part of indesign, using other versions, using addons? I found out that CS6 is the fastest, much faster than CC and CC14.
    My computer is an early 2013 macbook pro retina, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
    I hope someone have some good insights
    Cheers
    Rasmus

    EPS is no longer a recommended format for placing in ID, and I suspect that it may be causing some of the delay, but 1800 records is a lot, and converting 1800 barcodes and icons to .ai would take some time, too.
    Truth be told, though, this is probably just more complex than Data Merge was meant to handle, and if you do this catalog on a regular basis it would probably be worth the cost of investing in one of the commercial catalog plugins.

    Use lower case letters for your variable names (name, pwd). The code works then.
    package com.bluenile.bean;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Bean1 implements Serializable
    private String name="Uname";
    private String pwd="Pword";
    public String getName()
    return name;
    public String getPwd()
    return pwd;
    void setName(String name)
    this.name = name;
    void setPwd(String pwd)
    this.pwd = pwd;
    <HTML>
    <BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF">
    <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="b1" class="com.bluenile.bean.Bean1" />
    <ul>
    <li>Name : <jsp:getProperty name="b1" property="name" />
    <li>Pwd : <jsp:getProperty name="b1" property="pwd" />

  • Call a method with complex data type from a DLL file

    Hi,
    I have a win32 API with a dll file, and I am trying to call some methods from it in the labview. To do this, I used the import library wizard, and everything is working as expected. The only problem which I have is with a method with complex data type as return type (a vector). According to this link, import library wizard can not import methods with complex data type.
    The name of this method is this:   const std::vector< BlackfinInterfaces::Count > Counts ()
    where Count is a structure defined as below:
    struct Count
       Count() : countTime(0) {}
       std::vector<unsigned long> countLines;
       time_t countTime;
    It seems that I should manually use the Call Library Function Node. How can I configure parameters for the above method?

    You cannot configure Call Library Function Node to call this function.  LabVIEW has no way to pass a C++ class such as vector to a DLL.

  • ++Custom Serialization with Complex Data type (Nested Classes)

    Hi,
    We have a scenario wherein we need to write CUSTOM SERIALIZERS for complex datatypes like INVOICE & ORDER (INVOICE inturn has ADDRESS type among others, ORDER has ADDRESS type, a COLLECTION of type ORDERITEM each of which are Java Classes in themselves)
    The example of Custom Serializer given in the SOA AS Dev Guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28975/custserial.htm#CFHHIBCA)
    shows only a simple java type used for serialization and deserialization.
    Can anyone please help us out by sharing any example depicting the CUSTOM SERIALIZERs for COMPLEX DATA TYPES?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pavan.

    Hello,
    Could you please post the code of your classes in the forum (at least the interfaces) ?

  • Complex data to web service

    I have read many posts and alot of documentation and would
    just like to confirm that it is NOT possible to pass what you could
    consider "complex" data to a web service. Data that is in an array,
    ArrayCollection, or even a actionscript class, that I need to pass
    to a .net web service (c# or vb.net) does not come out on the other
    side. I have tried making the .net web service parameter an object,
    array, arraylist, byte array, xml node, etc -- nothing happens.
    Am I wrong? If so, could anyone provide some code (on both
    the Flex 2.0 and .net web service side) that shows how to take the
    complex data sent from Flex to the web service and actually
    properly read the data in the web service. The intent would
    obviously to update a SQL Server database.
    Currently, my Flex web service calls have many many parameter
    tags under the <mx:request> tag - each one corresponding to
    the input parameter of the .net web service. My intent is to
    simplify the input parameters on both sides.
    Again, am I waiting for Flex 3.0 or am I just a little
    slow?

    Thank you for your reply. However, I have no problem getting
    data into Flex from .net (web service). It is getting data from
    Flex back into .net (web service) that I have an issue with. I can
    pass simple strings, numbers, bool, etc but it is when I try to
    pass ArrayCollections, actionscript classes , etc from Flex to .net
    that I can not seem to get it to work. Any help in this area would
    be greatly appreciated.

  • Can "SPML Web Service Complex Data Type field" take multiple values ?

    In Generic Technology Connector's -SPML design parameters section, Can we give multiple values in SPML Web Service Complex Data Type field?
    If not, how can i call methods directly instead of calling them through a values of the "name" attribute of the "complexType" element in SPML Web Service Complex Data Type?
    I need 'SPML Web Service Complex Data Type' to hold multiple values.And based on the request it has to initiate appropriate method of action.
    Presently i have three methods add,modify and delete which i am calling through a single value of the "name" attribute of the "complexType" element in SPML Web Service Complex Data Type.
    I want to replace this single value with multiple menthods , so that a direct interaction between the method,OIM and target can be established.

    Thanks Robert.
    You'll need to create your own interface to the webapp database for those kind of data operations
    by this, are you speaking of the internal BC database which stores web app schema data? That would be great if it were possible to update that programmatically because I need to use the List (Checkbox List) field type (for the search functionality), but I need to supply the checkbox options from a web app rather than by manually updating the list entered in the Fields view of the web app settings (shown below).
    I'm curious if anyone else has tried this?
    Again, my reason for needing to use the List (Checkbox List) field type is that the page which processes searches knows to expect a comma separated list for this field type and then appears to be parsing out the individual values for searching out web app items with 1 or more matching values. You're right that text fields (string and multiline) just check for 'string contains' matches, and this would be ok if I was only ever needing to search just one value at a time. Here's an example of what I might do:
    Web App item field value (as recorded against the List (Checkbox List) field type:
    8294877,8294878
    Web App Search value (for this same field):
    8294879,8294877,8294885
    The search would return this web app item because the field contains 2 (1 or more) individual values even though they were entered into the search field in a different order. If this web app item were just a Text (string or multiline) field, the searched value is not a substring of the web app item's stored value, so it would not find a match. Hence the need to use Checkbox List field type.
    The web app will have thousands if not 10s of thousands of records, so dumping them all into one big array or object and searching on the front-end won't be practical (though it works great on smaller datasets).

  • Flex datagrid with complex data item - drag doesnt start sometimes

    Hi,
    my project has a datagrid which is rendering complex data item. I need to drag one row from the grid and drop it into the same grid but in a different position.
    I have enabled drag, drop and dragMove.I am able to drag and drop the rows. The problem is that sometimes the drag doesnt start.
    Here are a few scenarios where drag doesnt start
    the first column is not editable. if I start my drag by doing a mouse down on the frist cell of the row, it usually drags an empty row but sometimes it drags the whole row.
    if I have dragged and droped a row in position i(say). Then sometimes the row at position i-1 or i+1 doesnt get dragged no matter how many times i try to do mouse down and drag. However, if I drag some other row (not necessarily drop it elsewhere) and then try this row, it works.
    any pointers would be helpful.
    thanks in advance

    Update on item 4a -
    This was a major issue (the main reason for opening this thread really) and I managed to resolve it!
    As part of my application, I override the default DataGrid behavior for column selection (headerRelease event).
    Instead of sorting, I change the column's header looks and define it as Selected (for showing its dynamic properties and enable its deletion).
    At first I did this by setting styles, but the look didn't refresh unless I created a new instance of the header renderer.
    Later I changed thi behavior to work with states, but I left the new header renderer instance creation commands and those lines created all the mess!
    Conclusion -
    If you define a custom header renderer for your datagrid column and then a custom item renderer, don't create a new instance of your header renderer!
    It would still be nice to get some response for the other issues I raised.
    Thanks and have a nice week.
