I just asked this same question today and here is the thread
with the answer:

in short just reference the parent collection as your
dataprovider then use dataField="nodename" to get that data in your
datagrid

  • Loading complex report data into a direct update DSO using APD

    Dear All,
Recently, I had a requirement to download the report data into a direct update DSO using an APD. I was able to perform this easily when the report was simple i.e it has few rows and columns. But I faced problems If the report is a complex one. Summing up, I would like to know how to handle the scenarios in each of the following cases:
    1.   How should I decide the key fields and data fields of the direct update DSO ? Is it that the elements in ROWS will go to the
key fields of DSO and the remaining to the data fields? Correct me.
    2.   What if the report contains the Restricted KFs and Calculated KFs? Do I have to create separate infoobjects in the BI
system and then include these in the DSO data fields to accommodate the extracted data ?
    3.   How do I handle the Free Characteristics and Filters ?
    4.  Moreover, I observed that if the report contains selection screen variables, then I need to create variants in the report and
use that variant in the APD. So, if I have 10 sets of users executing the same report with different selection conditions, then
shall I need to create 10 different variants and pass those into 10 different APDs, all created for the same report ?
I would appreciate if someone can answer my questions clearly.

    Hi ,
    PFB the answers.
    1. How should I decide the key fields and data fields of the direct update DSO ? Is it that the elements in ROWS will go to the
key fields of DSO and the remaining to the data fields? Correct me.
--- Yes , you can use the elements in the ROWS in the Key fields,  but in case you get two records with same value in the ROWS element the data load will fail. So you basically need to have one value that would be different for each record.
    2. What if the report contains the Restricted KFs and Calculated KFs? Do I have to create separate infoobjects in the BI
system and then include these in the DSO data fields to accommodate the extracted data ?
Yes you would need to create new Infoobjects for the CKF's and RKF's in the Report and include them in your DSO.
    3. How do I handle the Free Characteristics and Filters ?
The default filters work in the same way as when you yourself execute the reoprt. But you cannot use the Free characterisitics in the APD. only the ROWS and cloumns element which are in default layout can be used.
--- Yes you would need to create 10 different APD's. Its very simple to create, you can copy an APD. but it would be for sure a maintance issue. you would have to maintain 10 APD's.
Please revert in case of any further queries.

  • Search data into ResultSets to genrate a complex report

    Hi,
I am writing a report called "Product Flow". The report headings are follows
prodcode prod name opening qty purchase_qty sales_qty closing_qty
    =============================================================
To achieve this, I need to know the products, their opening qty, their purchase qty, sales qty and finally I will I will calculate the closing stock.
All this information is into different tables. I want to create 4-5 resultsets and then take the prodcut's resultset and scroll into it, take product one by one and then search its details into other resultset of opening, purchase and sales resultsets
How can I do it with resultsets? can anyone guide me? I am very much new for Java.
    Thanks
    OMkar

    Dear,
Evenif I use SQL join. While designing the report finally, do I not have to write some code to compare and search some data into various resultsets or some kind of collections?
For example, in the above report, when I want to display report on screen, I will have to take the list of product and then search its values into tables and display it on the screen. So for this, do I not have to take the resultset of product table (rs) which will give me a list of product.
    use while (rs.next()) >
    take each product code
search the values in other resultsets (to search these values in actual table may be time consuming becasue of huge size of table. If there are 500 products in the table, I will have to use the table for 500 times using SQL.
Finally display the report on screen. How can I get more information about the collection type of resultset as u mentioned in the first reply? I will read the tutorials on SQL joins as you suggested and see if I can use it for this report.
Thanks for the reply. I would high appreciate if you can guide me to achieve my aims of project I am doing my studies.

  • Loading Data into Table with Complex Transformations

    Hello Guys
I am trying to load data into one of the Dimension table and it has quite a few Transformations and i created 6 temp tables
    1. It has 7 Columns , Gets 935 rows based on where condition
    2. It has 10 Columns , Gets 935 rows with but it has nulls in it i.e for column 1 there are 500 fields and columns 2 there are 300 etc ...
    3 , 4 , 5 , 6 all the same as the 2 table
and at the end when i am trying to join all the temp tables with the Product_id into the target , which is in each temp table ...
I am Getting Error Saying Not Obeying Primary key Constraints i.e unique values are not been inserting into the Product_id Column of Target Table and the Job is running for Hours
and the main Problem comes at , some of the Columns have the same Product_id
    Please help me
I have been Trying for 1 week and i am in Full pressure
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you are creating a warehouse and product_key is ur PK then it should come only once and so u might have to think ur logic in getting the data. To get over the isue u can disable the constraint and load with out the cosntraint, but i would have u look at the logic and make sure u have only 1 product_key in the table.

  • Complex data to web service

I have read many posts and alot of documentation and would
just like to confirm that it is NOT possible to pass what you could
consider "complex" data to a web service. Data that is in an array,
ArrayCollection, or even a actionscript class, that I need to pass
to a .net web service (c# or vb.net) does not come out on the other
side. I have tried making the .net web service parameter an object,
array, arraylist, byte array, xml node, etc -- nothing happens.
Am I wrong? If so, could anyone provide some code (on both
the Flex 2.0 and .net web service side) that shows how to take the
complex data sent from Flex to the web service and actually
properly read the data in the web service. The intent would
obviously to update a SQL Server database.
Currently, my Flex web service calls have many many parameter
tags under the <mx:request> tag - each one corresponding to
the input parameter of the .net web service. My intent is to
simplify the input parameters on both sides.
Again, am I waiting for Flex 3.0 or am I just a little
    slow?

Thank you for your reply. However, I have no problem getting
data into Flex from .net (web service). It is getting data from
Flex back into .net (web service) that I have an issue with. I can
pass simple strings, numbers, bool, etc but it is when I try to
pass ArrayCollections, actionscript classes , etc from Flex to .net
that I can not seem to get it to work. Any help in this area would
    be greatly appreciated.

  • How to embed data into an InDesign Document

    Hello everybody,
I'm porting a QuarkXTension to InDesign CS3 on PC but, maybe, I've found a showstopper...
The current xtension writes some collected data into a document slug that is retrieved by an external application simply scanning the content of the file.
I need to maintain the same way with InDesign but I've discovered that the persistent data added to a document workspace doesn't stay all together when is more than few KBytes (everything seems to be ok until 2 KBytes but that's too little) inside the InDesign document but is scattered on many locations. Of course this makes the work of the external application impossible.
Is there any way to command/force inDesign to write the persistent data insidde the file in one single chunk?
I understand this is something unusual but that's the way that complex publishing workflow works and can't be changed in that part.
Thanks a lot in advance for any help.
    Best regards,
    Luca Severini

I think I have found a possible solution to embed my data in a way readable by an external application. To use the XMP toolkit.
Very interesting the fact XMP Toolkit includes the source of a simple command line tool that parses the xmp embedded into InDesign file.
The same source can be easily modified to get all the objects contained in the document aka database.

  • How to read a CSV file and Insert data into an Oracle Table

    Hi All,
I have a Clob file as a in parameter in my PROC. . File is comma separated.need procedure that would parse this CLOB variable and populate in oracle table .
Please let me some suggestions on this.

    @OP,
I have a Clob file as a in parameter in my PROC. . File is comma separated.need procedure that would parse this CLOB variable and populate in oracle table .You don't have a "clob file" as there's no such thing. CLOB is a datatype for storing large character based objects. A file is something on the operating system's filesystem.
So, why have you stored comma seperated data in a CLOB?
Where did this data come from? If it came from a file, why didn't you use SQL*Loader or, even better, External Tables to read and parse the data into structured format when populating the database with it?
If you really do have to parse a CLOB of data to pull out the comma seperated values, then you're going to have to write something yourself to do that, reading "lines" by looking for the newline character(s), and then breaking up the "lines" into the component data by looking for commas within it, using normal string functions such as INSTR and SUBSTR or, if necessary, REGEXP_INSTR and REGEXP_SUBSTR. If you have string data that contains commas but uses double quotes around the string, then you'll also have the added complexity of ignoring commas within such string data.
Like I say... it's much easier with SQL*Loader of External Tables as these are designed to parse such CSV type data.

  • Can "SPML Web Service Complex Data Type field" take multiple values ?

In Generic Technology Connector's -SPML design parameters section, Can we give multiple values in SPML Web Service Complex Data Type field?
If not, how can i call methods directly instead of calling them through a values of the "name" attribute of the "complexType" element in SPML Web Service Complex Data Type?
I need 'SPML Web Service Complex Data Type' to hold multiple values. And based on the request it has to initiate appropriate method of action.
Presently i have three methods add, modify and delete which i am calling through a single value of the "name" attribute of the "complexType" element in SPML Web Service Complex Data Type.
I want to replace this single value with multiple menthods , so that a direct interaction between the method,OIM and target can be established.

    Thanks Robert.
You'll need to create your own interface to the webapp database for those kind of data operations
by this, are you speaking of the internal BC database which stores web app schema data? That would be great if it were possible to update that programmatically because I need to use the List (Checkbox List) field type (for the search functionality), but I need to supply the checkbox options from a web app rather than by manually updating the list entered in the Fields view of the web app settings (shown below).
I'm curious if anyone else has tried this?
Again, my reason for needing to use the List (Checkbox List) field type is that the page which processes searches knows to expect a comma separated list for this field type and then appears to be parsing out the individual values for searching out web app items with 1 or more matching values. You're right that text fields (string and multiline) just check for 'string contains' matches, and this would be ok if I was only ever needing to search just one value at a time. Here's an example of what I might do:
Web App item field value (as recorded against the List (Checkbox List) field type:
    8294877,8294878
Web App Search value (for this same field):
    8294879,8294877,8294885
The search would return this web app item because the field contains 2 (1 or more) individual values even though they were entered into the search field in a different order. If this web app item were just a Text (string or multiline) field, the searched value is not a substring of the web app item's stored value, so it would not find a match. Hence the need to use Checkbox List field type.
The web app will have thousands if not 10s of thousands of records, so dumping them all into one big array or object and searching on the front-end won't be practical (though it works great on smaller datasets).

what's the problem caused the "ORA-21700: object does not exist or is marked for delete" error?
Thanks in advance for your help?

    Thanks Marco,
    Here're my environment:
    SQL> select INSTANCE_NUMBER, INSTANCE_NAME,HOST_NAME,VERSION from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NUMBER INSTANCE_NAME HOST_NAME VERSION
    2 rac32 RAC3-2 10.2.0.3.0
I followed your suggested in the above, and always purge recyclebin, but still got the same problem. because in 10gr2, there's no dbms_xmlschema.purge_schema available,
and I did checked the recyclebin after force the delete of schema, nothing inside. any other recommendation?

  • Most efficient way to load XML file data into tables

I have a complex XML file running into MBs. I want to load it's data into 7-8 tables.
    Which way will be better:
    1) Use SQL Loader to actually load directly into the 7-8 tables directly by modifying the control card.
Is this really possible and feasible? I am not even sure about it
    2) Load data as XML Type in a table and register it. Then extract from there to load into various tables.
Please help. I have to find the most efficient way of doing it.
    Regards,
    Sudhir

Yes it is possible to use SQL*Loader to parse and load XML, but that is not what it was designed for and so is not recommended. You also don't need to register a schema, just to load/store/parse XML in the DB either.
So where does that leave you?
    Some options
    {thread:id=410714} (see page 2)
    {thread:id=1090681}
    {thread:id=1070213}
Those talk some about storage options and reading in XML from disk and parsing XML. They should also give you options to consider. Without knowing more about your requirements for the effort, it is difficult to give specific advice. Maybe your 7-8 tables don't exist and so using Object Relational Storage for the XML would be the best solution as you can query/update tables that Oracle creates based off the schema associated to the XML. Maybe an External Table definition works better for reading the XML into the system because this process will happen just once. Maybe using WebDAV makes more sense for loading XML to be parsed (I don't have much experience with this, just know it is possible from what I've read on the forums). Also, your version makes a difference as you have different options available depending upon the version of Oracle.
Hope all that helps as a starter.

  • Converting Array Objects into ArrayCollections

    Hi,
I am facing problem with converting Array Objects into ArrayCollections. How can i convert Array Objects into ArrayCollections. If any one knows how can we do that Pl reply.

    Hi Bhasker,
thanks for u r reply. Here i attached screen shot of my server "data.result".
    My proxy varaible contains
    My object varaible "obj" contains
After parsing the result my arraycollection contains, (i mean after converting Object to Array to ArrayCollection) the below information. For information Pl find the attached arraycollection.png image. In the attached image my arraycollection name is "users".
Here i pasted the code that i used  to convert  "ObjectProxy" to "ArrayCollection"
    var proxy:ObjectProxy = ObjectProxy(data.result);
                var obj:Object = proxy.object_proxy::object;
                var arrycoll:Array = ArrayUtil.toArray(obj);
                model.users = new ArrayCollection(arrycoll);

  • Flex datagrid with complex data item - drag doesnt start sometimes

    Hi,
my project has a datagrid which is rendering complex data item. I need to drag one row from the grid and drop it into the same grid but in a different position.
I have enabled drag, drop and dragMove.I am able to drag and drop the rows. The problem is that sometimes the drag doesnt start.
Here are a few scenarios where drag doesnt start
the first column is not editable. if I start my drag by doing a mouse down on the frist cell of the row, it usually drags an empty row but sometimes it drags the whole row.
if I have dragged and droped a row in position i(say). Then sometimes the row at position i-1 or i+1 doesnt get dragged no matter how many times i try to do mouse down and drag. However, if I drag some other row (not necessarily drop it elsewhere) and then try this row, it works.
    any pointers would be helpful.
    thanks in advance

    Update on item 4a -
This was a major issue (the main reason for opening this thread really) and I managed to resolve it!
As part of my application, I override the default DataGrid behavior for column selection (headerRelease event).
Instead of sorting, I change the column's header looks and define it as Selected (for showing its dynamic properties and enable its deletion).
At first I did this by setting styles, but the look didn't refresh unless I created a new instance of the header renderer.
Later I changed thi behavior to work with states, but I left the new header renderer instance creation commands and those lines created all the mess!
    Conclusion -
If you define a custom header renderer for your datagrid column and then a custom item renderer, don't create a new instance of your header renderer!
It would still be nice to get some response for the other issues I raised.
Thanks and have a nice week.

  • How to access complex data type objects in webdynpro

    Hi
Need help on the detailed procedure to access the complex data type objects.
I am importing an external wsdl file, its request and response have complex data type objects , how do i access the same as the values are nested in them.

  • How to pass complex data type structure to WebService under mx:request?

From my Flex client, I need to pass data to a web service whose operation expects a complex data type with multiple layers of nesting structure. How can I populate the <mx:request> for the <mx:WebServices>? Any examples?
A couple of approaches come to my mind:
    (1) construct ActionScript object to mimic the datatype expected by web service, and pass an instance of the AS object to mx:request; or
    (2) construct an entire SOAP request body in XML and pass it into mx:request.
Does any of these (or both) work? If both work, which is the better way?
Thanks in advance for your input!
    -William

Thanks a lot for the rapid response, Marcel.
For further details on the maping between WS complexType structure and AS object, is there any specific requirement? such as naming, binding, structure of nesting, etc.

  • Complex data structure.

    Hi,
This is a design issue that I have run into many times and I was wondering how you all solve it. When using complex data structures (such as array of clusters, or clusters containg arrays and/or other clusters), I have found that there are many situations where you need to wire either an "empty" stucture or the type of the structure as an input. For example, when building up the data structure, I often use shift registers, and need an empty data structure to initialize the shift register. Also when bundling a cluster by name you need the type of the cluster. My question is - what do you use in these situations? Of course, I always typedef my complex structures, and I know that there is a default value for them, because other language featu
res depend on there being a default. Is there anyway to get the default value for a typedef? Not seeing one, I have taken to creating a Global or Dummy VI for each typedef that returns a default data structure, which is what I use in all these situations. What other approaches have you seen?

    > of the cluster. My question is - what do you use in these situations?
    > Of course, I always typedef my complex structures, and I know that

You can right click on a wire or terminal and create a constant for the
type already there. This will sometimes fool you if you are wanting the
input to a shift register since the types flow downstream and you want
    upstream. Just click somewhere whe
re the type is known, create the
const and move it where you want it.
The BIG downside to this is that typedef constants tend to be BIG. My
favorite solution is to make a subVI that returns the default for the
typedef. Put it in user.lib and it is readily accessible. You can
think of it as a constructor for your datatype, if you want. In fact
you can make several of these or parameterize it to return different
flavors. Being the size of all other icons, it fits nicely into the
diagram and adapts to typedef changes.
