A2109A: USB-Debugging crashes

After downgrading from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4 (Stock or MCL) I cannot activate USB-debugging. The whole development menu doesn't work and there is a timeout, while other menus work. So I cannot activate the main switch for all development options, since this button never appears.

• A2109A: No debugging with 4,1,1

Since I updated to JB 4.1.1 with my A2109A, the whole development part is grey. I cannot activate USB-debugging,which I need to write a udev-rule for my ubuntu-box with "udevadm monitor --environment --udev". Is there another way to find out the ID, when debugging is on?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

You come to Setting > Developer Option: on the top change to Enable. Then you could chose enable USB debugging.

• Remote/USB debug doesn't work for me in iOS

I'm trying to debug my app in the iPad, but whenever I use the ipa-debug or ipa-debug-interpreter targets, the app just plain doesn't work. It gets stuck in the first screen and nothing happens, no matter if I use -connect "my-ip" (remote debugging) or if I use -listen myPort (USB debugging). The app just doesn't work.
If I use ipa-test-interpreter or ipa-ad-hoc, then it does work, but of course I can't debug. This happens in AIR 3.6 and also previous versions as well.
My command line:
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS6\AIR3.6\bin\adt.bat" -package -target ipa-debug-interpreter -connect "192.168.1.11" -provisioning-profile ..\cert\ios\iPad2_01.mobileprovision -storetype pkcs12 -keystore ..\cert\ios\ios_dev.p12 -storepass MyPassword MyApp.ipa MyApp-app.xml -C . MyApp_ios.swf icons\MyApp_icon.png Default-Landscape.png -extdir ..\ane
Did someone experience the same?

Can you please report a bug for the same @bugbase.adobe.com with a sample app(source code ,swf, app-xml and assets/ane) with which bug can be reproduced?
Also you can provide me the sample app(source code ,swf, app-xml and assets/ane) @[email protected] so that I can give it a try.
Please share the bug number here.

• [IOS-Android] Is it possible to make flashbuilder listening for usb debugging without re-packaging an app ?

With big apps it's boring to wait 10 minutes to package ios app just to be able to retry something. Is there a way to make flash builder listen for usb debugging like after the debug packaging bug without re-package ?

Just FYI, Whatsapp is not free indefinitely even on Android phones. They give a one-year trial period after which you have to pay per year for the subscription (a miniscule amount, but you have to pay nonetheless), whereas with the iOS app you pay once up front and then don't have to pay again. So in the long run, the iOS version comes out cheaper (at least unless Whatsapp changes their pricing model). And also just FYI, Whatsapp doesn't work on the iPod touch, only on the iPhone.
In any case, as planb77 said, pricing is totally up to the developer of the app. It's completely the developer's choice what price to charge for an app.

• Will the USB debug kit help me with the USB kernel panic?

Hi.
Some time ago I posted a question regarding USB trouble and got the answer that I have a 'kernel panic' (Thanks for that!). I did not do anything about it, I just did not use Memory Sticks etc. Now I want to try and solve the problem, because I hate it when things does not work.
I searched for 'kernel panic' to learn more, but I must admit that I did not understand much of it
Apple has something called 'mac OSX USB debug kit'. Can that solve the problem? Is it safe to run?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Regards, Littaol
iMac G4 Flat screen Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hello again Littaol,
After a brief read of this page, I would not start messing with developer tools, scripts, programs and "kits", before having explored every other "human" solutions.
Firstly, I would simply try again to use my Memory Sticks.
Perhaps this model was not yet handled properly, but now causes no problem after you updated Mac OS X or after you installed a Security Update.
Secondly, do you have other problems with your USB ports?
Keyboard, mouse, printer, etc, all is going well?
Kernel Panics:
Yes, they are caused by a problem, not always but often a hardware problem.
Sometimes though, they come for "no reason" and never show up again.
However, they have almost completely disappeared now from our Mac OS X users' lives, or?
If they occur only one or two times a year, there's nothing to worry about.
Let us know.
Hopefully this first answer will wake some good ideas from one of the many helpful and knowledgeable members of these Discussions!

• Issues with building for device testing on iPad and Network/USB debugging

I recently upgraded to FB 4.7 and Air3.5 to use the much needed USB debugging (I was not having any luck connecting with network debugging in FB 4.5, with port forwarding...). I am on a Windows machine (but am able to have someone load the IPA on a device for me from a Mac via Xcode).
Now, when I try to build a debug IPA for deployment on device, I get an invalid value error with the following InfoAdditions tag (same application file worked in FB 4.5).
<InfoAdditions><![CDATA[
<key>UIDeviceFamily</key>
<array>
<string>1</string>
<string>2</string>
</array>
]]></InfoAdditions>
Secondly, neither debugging method connects. I have FB with the "waiting to connect message" and the iOS device with a Popup "waiting for AIR to connect...", but they never do. Am I missing something? Do I need iTunes on the windows machine for FB to recognize iOS device or do I need to load IPA with special commands? Thanks! I see a lot of hacked ways to do this via command line, but this is supposed to be working in FB 4.7 now.

Hi ,
iTunes should be installed on the machine for the USB debugging on iOS to work. Once the application is installed on the iOS device , manually launch the application to make debugger connection.
Please post the screenshot of the error message .

• Wheres the USB Debugging Option

Hi,
I have recenty bought HP Slate 7 voice tab and now i m trying to reverse tether it to my pc . Can u pls let me know that where is the USB Debugging Option , and i m using android version 4.4.2. Thanks

Hey @Aryan24 ,
Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're looking for information on enabling USB debugging on your Slate 7 Voice Tab.
You should find the USB Debugging setting under Developer Options in the Settings menu.
If it is not listed you may be able to enable the Developer Menu by going to Settings > About (You may need to press More or General to see this) > Tab the Build Number 7 times which should enable developer mode > Now in Settings you should have a Developer Options menu where you can enable USB debugging.
Thanks.

Hi SksPro
In order to enable "USB Debugging" for your VoiceTab, you will need to enable "Developer mode" by going into "Settings" >> "About Tablet", then tap "Build number" 10x times. Once developer mode is enabled, go back to your settings, select "Developer Options" above "About tablet" then check "USB Debugging".
Hope this helps!

• What is USB debugging?

I plugged my phone up to my laptop and an icon came up that I had never seen. It means USB debugging. Should this be turned on or off?

From a google search
You may have spotted an option called "USB debugging" on your Android device when flipping through the device's "Settings" menu, but unless you're a developer, you'll probably never have a use for this feature. USB debugging is an essential development feature that lets programmers transfer apps from an Android development kit on a computer to an Android phone or tablet for testing. Users typically install apps through the Google Play Store or another marketplace; USB debugging lets developers test an app on an actual device without having to list the in-progress app in an app store

• A526 without USB Debugging and please, the KitKat update

When will you guys release an update in our phones to enable the USB Debugging mode? Or how about the KitKat update? Do you guys really care for us A-series users?
Primary reason for this:
1. We can't sync our phone to our PC because of the lack of that USB Debugging mode.
2. We can't move our apps to our SD card which means, we need to say goodbye to NBA 2K14, Asphalt 8, and any other large size apps. So what's the use of having a quadcore processor? We need to use to the full capacity!
3. Screw this, but we're being left alone by the S-Series and other 'cause they're already using a KitKat phone. We're not in the trend anymore.
So please guys, to all the devs out there THAT'S ACTUALLY LISTENING TO US, please help us also.
Sincerely yours,
A526 users, A -series users.

• No USB debugging

Hi Guys,
My phone is an A328. As You know, USB debugging is necessary to use Lenovo Smart Assistant. I've succesfully reached display Developer Options (by 7times tap on Build number), but ALL of the options in Dev are greyed out (except Process Stats), so I can not enable USB debugging.
When I connect the phone to the PC, there is no USB debugging in USB options on pull down notification bar.
Have You got any idea to solve this issue? Thanks in advance...
Solved!
Go to Solution.

More information:
It's indifferent when I try to enable debugging: before or after connecting to PC. There are ALWAYS only 5 options on pulldown bar: USB storage, Media device, Camera, Charge only, Built-in CD-ROM. The phone itself is provider independent.

• Hellcat: USB debugging for iOS?

Hi,
Anyone know if Flash CS7 will feature USB debugging for iOS?
Sure could be useful. Having a heck of a time troubleshooting internet connectivity right now. Suppose I could look into going back to command line compile, but support in CS7 would sure be helpful...
Thanks.

it's available in Flash Pro CS6 now via the Air for OS settings panel and via the Air for Android settings panel. no command line needed. just check the box and publish to the usb connected device.
it works flawlessly for me.
i've agreed to an adobe nda so i can't comment about the next Flash Pro release.
and, i don't use Flash Builder so i just don't know about its current or planned capabilities.

• How do you get USB debugging for AIR iOS working?

How do you get USB debugging for AIR iOS working?
Here is my current configuration:
Flash Builder 4.6
Flex 4.6.0 (build 23201) with AIR 3.3 Beta and Flash 11.3 Beta playerglobal.swc (both merged in to the current Flex build)
Flex 4.6 release: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex-sdk-download.html
AIR 11.3 Beta: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/air3-3/
Flash Player 11.3 Beta: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11-3.html
I read through the Flash Player 11.3 and AIR 3.3 release notes (http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/labs/flashplatformruntimes/shared/air3-3_flashplayer11-3 _p1_releasenotes.pdf) and this is all that is stated:
USB debugging for AIR iOS iOS developer can now connect directly? to the desktop via USB to debug mobile applications.
Every other feature seems to have a description of how to accomplish it other than USB debugging for AIR iOS.
Anyone else get this working?
The main reason I want to get this working is because our IT department is very strict on our firewalls and it is relatively hard to open the required ports to debug on our own devices through the network.

I've found one way of doing it using command-line on Windows. I'm sure someone will make it easier by building it into something like a FlashDevelop template soon.
Steps are...
1. Add a "-listen 7936" param to the packager. Something like, "adt -package -target -debug-interpreter .... -listen 7936". Install IPA on device.
2. Find out the handle of your iOS device by running "lib\aot\idb\idb -devices". In my case it is "2". Will look something like...
List of attached devices
Handle UUID
2    {your UUID here}
3. Forward the local_port to the remote_port for the device_handle. Something like "lib\aot\idb\idb -forward 7936 7936 2".
4. Start Flash Debugger in another command prompt from your FlexSDK directory. Something like "flexsdk\bin\fdb -p 7936".
5. Run your app.
6. Type the "(fdb) run" command in the debug command line.
7. May need to type "(fdb) continue".
Hope that helps.
