Aagh - Please help- Swing Window Size

Dear Guys,
Please help a newbie. I am totally at my wits end.
I have been looking unsuccessfully (maybe I'm using the wrong search terms) for a way to preset the size of a window before placing any components in the frame.
I am using a toolkit to get the dimensions of the current screen resolution and then I want to set the window to occupy the whole screen.
All I have been so far able to do is to set the size of the window after the pack() command. Unfortunately this makes all the buttons re-size in to what I believe are ugly square bulky buttons.
Is there a way to set window size before adding any components whatsoever?

yo can also set the preferred size for the window - this.setPreferredSize(P);it takes a paramter P of type Dimesion.
This can later be returned through: this.getPreferredSize();which returns a type dimesion.
This can be used as a paramter:

Please try my suggestions:
Run menu > sysdm.cpl > Advanced Tab > performance > select adjust for best performance > make sure you do not allow Windows to choose for you because your computer does not know whats best --- Make sure Enable Aero Peek is checked

Please Help! Windows won't install IPod Driver!

My brother got a 2GB IPod nano and itunes and everything installs but when i plug in the IPod i get the install driver window. I click to intsall driver but it keeps saying it couldnt find anything to install (even when i have the disc the ipod came with inside). Its a Toshiba labtop. If anyone knows why the driver won't install or had the same problem please help! Thanks

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.

Please Help! Disc Size

Could someone please help me out here. I have reset my Nano and have about 10 songs on my iTunes in my library. When I go to sync my device to my computer and update the songs, it says that "my iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library." So I made sure that I don't have any pictures or podcasts on their as well and I don't. How do I fix this problem and clear my Nano so I can start over?

Welcome to Apple Discussions
If you only have 10 songs in your iTunes Library and they will not fit on our nano then it is probably due to the compression used.
If you select Library in the Source pane you can see at the bottom of iTunes how many tracks there are, how long the tracks will play for, and how big the files are in total.
Next, if you select one track and do a Get Info you will be able to find out how big that one is and what Kind it is.
Please post back that information and we'll take it from there.

Problem, please help - Update windows 8 to 8.1 via STORE

Hi there,
I am facing problem in updating my current windows 8 to 8.1 by using STORE
It keeps on showing message: "Something happened and Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code: 0x80070003"
I have tried "Troubleshooting windows update" but still fail.
The error log from "C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log" as follows:

Please help with Windows 7 x64 System error: Critical Kernel-power Event 41

I'm recieving this error while moving my laptop or working with it? Can someone help me to read memory dumps and to understand what causes this error please?
Where i can fount theese dump files? Can someone read them and is it possible to understand what is happening?
I have made full check of my memory and there are No errors I've also checked HDD with regenerator there are no errors too. but this not means that they can not be the problem. There is doubt about one of my HDD because when laptop is blocking there is bad
noise from HDD.
PS: There is another issue which is strange two of times when this happens the whole MBR was destroyed and the system refuses to boot ... only reboots. And i made bootrec /fixboot /fixmbr and this solve the problem ... I don't know is this connected with
system error, but i'm trying to give more details.

PLEASE HELP! WINDOWS INSTALLATION GONE HORRIBLY WRONG!

Last night I decided to install Windows XP on my new Macbook, so that I could use some software that will only work with that operating system. I used Boot Camp to do everything (i.e. set partitions, etc.) and it prompted me to Restart and install Windows, which I did.
Somewhere along the line, the installation process was messed up and I ended up with a computer that hadn't a trace of of Mac OS X present, (even though I had only set aside 32 GB of my 250 GB hard drive as a Windows partition), and a (Windows) set up screen telling me that there was no bootable disk in the optical drive. So, I gave up on the Windows installation, and put in the MAC OS X install disks that came with the laptop, hoping to salvage anything and everything that was left.
I got to the set-up screen where it asked me to choose my language and agree to the user agreement, both of which I did, and everything was going smoothly until I had to "Select a Destination"...there was no such destination to be found. I then went into the "Disk Utility" application, to find that it would not let me repair the disk or even erase the entire thing and start from scratch.
So now, basically I'm left with a bricked $1600 laptop with no operating system, as the Mac OS X installation will not allow for me to pass the set-up stage without choosing a non-existent destination. Can anybody with knowledge on the subject help me out please?!

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I've been there and it was so distressing I can't remember exactly how I fixed it.
STILL - there is nothing here that is terrible. If you really want to boot to disk and use disk utility to reformat or erase, you can. I see from your report that you have tried this already, but I'm guessing you didn't click on the exact right hard drive identifier. Try it again, but if you are sick of noodling around getting nowhere, take it in to a service agent. All your stuff is still there and someone can find it.

In case this means something - in my own case I got frustrated, booted to disk and did a 7 pass erase of the entire hard drive (it took hours) So it was factory fresh and I did a new install all over again. A lot of work. Later I learned it would have been easier to just make a partition of the entire drive on disk utility, then remove it. You could do a three or four partition and switch back to one in less than a minute - this will wipe the drive of all references, and it would be clear to start a fresh install (if you don't mind losing everything and starting over.)
Otherwise there is definitely software out there that rescues 'lost' data.

SOS.Please help ASAP . Size matters

I have a mpeg 4 file. ( 22mb ). I need to add two effects on it, Warp Stabilizer and Snow. After I render it, The file size goes to 1.2GB when I export to quicktime and the audio is out of sink. How can I fix the file size to not go from 22MB to 1.2 GB. The file is 1920X1088. I don't care about audio much as I can overlap it but what can I do to take care of the size and not increase exponentially without losing quality. The file duration is about 50 seconds.

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Universal Access
are both places where screen size may change inadvertantly. Use higher resolutions, but lower screen zoom.

1. Rebuild your project and debut it to see whether it could work.
2. If #1 works fine, then publish it and install that application to check whether there is any issue while installing.

IPod mini doesn't play ANY songs!!! Please Help

My iPod mini doesn't play any songs. It doesn't play purchased music from the iTunes Music Store, ripped CDs, or ANYTHING. On the iPod I go to play a song but the music time counter remains on 0:00. When it does this faint sounds of the song trying to start can be heard, but then a lot of static comes up. A song did start once but it stoped at 7 seconds. I've tried the 5 Rs and everything I can think of! Please Help!

Ipod Shuffle won't show up on the computer Please Help!!!!

One day my Ipod worked was working and I could plug it the computer and it would charge and do everthing it was supposed to do. A few days later I edited my songs in Itunes and went to go plug in my Shuffle and nothing happened, no lights no nothing. It would not show up any where in my computer. I have had other problems that have been resolved by calling Apple. This Ipod is only 10 months old.

Actually, that's a good question. I thought it was true with all iPods, but I just tried an experiment on my full-sized iPod and it wasn't the case.
I copied a song (one that I didn't mind deleting) manually to my iPod (not shuffle). I started playing it off the iPod list. Then I went to my main iTunes library list and deleted that song. The song kept playing and continued to be listed on the iPod's list. When I do the same thing with my shuffle, as soon as delete the song off the main library list, the song stops playing and the iPod shuffle re-syncs to no longer have the song.
So to answer your question, I believe you can set the larger iPods to manually manage your music (not sync) and play songs from it on multiple computers. You just can't do the same thing with a shuffle.
