ABAP program run weekly

Hi,
Is there a way in ABAP that would allow a program to schedule itself to run on a weekly basis without going through SM36 and variants?

Hi,
I don't think there is any option like that. Only thing is that you can create a BDC for the purpose. But again it is complex work. From SE38 main screen itself you can schedule the program. Like from the main se38 screen, type in the program name, from menu->program->schedule. You can schedule it through this way too.

Can some 1 plz tell me that How can I make my ABAP program run ONLY for 2 times (after it went in production etc)
AND when the program runs for 2 times It then gets hanged/Locked foreever.

Well, I guess the only full proof way is to create a custom "Z" table which will hold the counter, in your program you would update this table every time the program runs. In this same program before updating the counter, you would retrieve the counter and check if it is = 2, if so, then write a message and RETURN.

ABAP program running time-BW update Rules

Hi All,
I have an ABAP program that is in one of the update rules from source ODS to destination ODS. Source ODS has 20million records. When we are loading the records to destination ODS , Is there any way I can find howmuch time will take to process 1 record and also when it is running how do I know howmany records it has processed or howmany yet to process ? I have tried with SM50 but not able to find much useful information?

Hi Vennela,
just choose one request and click on monitor -> details. Click on processing -> Data Package 1 -> Update Rules. If you put the cursor on the first node, you'll see a date and time field on the screen (below). If you click on the last node you'll see how long it took to process the records.
Another possibility would be to run it in simulation mode and check the response time. To do so, you'll have to click on 'Response Time' in the SAP GUI field below at the right side of your screen (normally it shows the system name and mandant).

Export data to Excel through a ABAP program run in batch mode

Dear Experts,
The requirement is that a ABAP report should run through background job, which will do the followiing :
   1) Collect data from predifined CRM tables ( Activity , Order for example ).
   2) Create a Excel file in a Application Server ( physical file server location ) location.
   3) Push the data collected in the step 1 to the Excel file.
   I have found 2 function modules which does the export to Excel after creating the Excel file. They are :
    a) XXL_FULL_API
    b) MS_EXCEL_OLE_STANDARD_DAT
   But it seems that the ABAP report needs to run in the foreground ( correct me if i am wrong ) in order to create the Excel file.
   Please can anyone suggest a possible ABAP code to achieve OR how to use these FMs in background mode ?
The excel creation needs to be automated and send to a administrator email id every day, so the need of exporting the data in background mode arises.

In SM36, you can create a job(give your report prog name)..

ABAP program in process chain running under another user

Hi, gurus
I have a process chain that load three DSO in order to generate authorizations. I wish to add a new process at the end of this process chain which calls ABAP program RSSB_GENERATE_AUTHORIZATION. I wish to run this ABAP program under a different user rather than using ALEREMOTE, our general purpose load user. The user to run authorization generation must be a system user specially created for this purpose.
My question is: is it possible to define a different user to execute only a process (ABAP program) inside a process chain while the previous steps can be run by a general purpose load user?
Is there any other approach? What about separating it into two tasks? How to sincronize them, that is, how to run generation just after successful ending of the load process?

Let us assume that you have two parts to this -
1. Process chain for Data Loads
2. Program for authorizations.
Schedule the authorization program in the background and have it run after a particular event - this way your authorization program is run with a specific user.
In your process chain put in a program to raise the event at the appropriate time so that the authorization program can run. The authorization program in the meanwhile will be runnnig and waiting for the event to occur.

I am not sure of any standard program .... but you can write your own... should be a small one..
you can check if the table RSDMDENQ has entry for your InfoObject... if yes, then its locked.. if not.. its not locked

I just want to run custom abap program in every 30min.
so I made process chain and connect abap program.
but it returns NOTHING when background running.
the program has ABSOLUETLY no problem when it's running DIALOG process.
custom program is modified from sap standard program for my use.
so complicated and hard to read that I cann't figure out what's problem in backgound job and even hard to debug in background process.
is there any way to run abap program in dialog process in every 30 min.?
or call BSP page or call function.
any solution will be helpful that excuting PROGRAM or FUNCTION or BSP PAGE in schedule job and should running dialog process.

Create one sample job "SAMPLE JOB"
Priority "A"
Execu target - Your application server
2Click start conditon
schedule according to ur requirements.
3.Click Step button
Give your ABAP program name.
fill variants if it has any variants.
if it is useful assign points

I have a requirement to develop an ABAP program to be able to run the two Z Queries respectively and be able to download to the file to the application server via background.
The selection is based on the Query Name, Usergroup and plant.How do we capture the data from the Queries and send it to the application server? Submit Statement is not working. There is a FM: RSAQ_REPORT_NAME from which we get the Query program name when Qery name and User group is given as an input.Through the above FM I have got the Query program name and used Submit statement with List_options to capture the Internal table data of that Query. As the Query program is dynamically generated and not available in TSTC, the Submit is not Working. Kindly suggest me is there any other approach to do it.
Please provide me the solution.

Currently I had a Executable ABAP Program which when executed prompts for user to enter selection once entered and executed it will delete user entered selections from a Table.
Now my requirment is to enhance that program to run it as a BACKGROUND BATCH JOB so that there will be an entry in SM37 when the program is executed

Easy Job Scheduling Using BP_JOBVARIANT_SCHEDULE</b>
To schedule a job from within a program using the express method, you need only call the BP_JOBVARIANT_SCHEDULE function module.
The express method has the following characteristics:
Simplified job structure: The function module schedules a job that includes only a single job step.
The function module uses default values for most job-processing options. You cannot, for example, specify a target printer as part of the call to the function module. Instead, the job step uses the print defaults of the scheduling user.
Only ABAP reports can be scheduled. You must use the "full-control" method to start external programs.
The range of start-time options is restricted. Event-based scheduling is not supported.
The function module works as follows:
You name the report that is to be scheduled in your call to the function module.
The function module displays a list of variants to the user. The user must select a variant for the report.
You must ensure that the variants required by your users have already been defined.
The user picks either "immediate start" or enters a start date and start time. Optionally, the user can also make the job restart periodically. The job is then scheduled.

How to check if ABAP program is running in another instance?

I need to ensure that a given ABAP program is only running in one instance.
Here is what I tried so far:
1) FM TH_WPINFO
The problem with this is that the Z (custom) program calls lot of SAP function modules and when inside those, the WP_REPORT field of WPLIST table has something else and not the Z program name.
2) FM ENQUEUE_ESINDX
When I used the code below the following happened:
-The First instance runs fine
-The Second instance fails in the locking and exits the way it is supposed to but then
-If I run the program the Third time, it runs with a succesful lock - probably because the after second instance the lock was cleared???

Hello Manish,
Using transaction SM36 you can define the batch job along with the start conditions for that job.
1. Transaction SM36.
2. Give the Z name of the job in the 'Job Name' input field.
3. Click on 'Steps' button from the application toolbar.
4. On the 'Create Step 1' dialog box, give the name of the ABAP program in the 'ABAP Program' section' along with the variant.
5. Click on 'Check Input' button from the dialog box.
6. Click on 'Save' button from the dialog box once the check is successful.
7. One list will be shown. Click on Back button from the standard toolbar.
8. Click on 'Start Conditions' button from the application toolbar. Specify the start condition e.g. immediate. Click on save.
9. The job staus is now scheduled.
10.Click on Save button from the standard toolbar of SM36. The job status will be released.
Using SM37 you can monitor the status of the job.
This will sort out your problem.

If one user wants to run his ABAP program that resides in Client 900 with the data in Client 500, can he do it? both the clients reside in the same SAP system (the same physical SAP server).
If you've some idea about this, please help.
