ABAp program terminated before Start selection event

Hi all,
I have the issue, for one user with window vista, my program always teminate before program go to start-of-selection event. But if I use my login name in his PC, the program will run perfectly. And If he use his user ID in other PC the program run also.
So the issue is 1 user in 1 PC always terminate.
Anybody have experience?

i think probs with SAP GUI... try to re-install it then try or Raise a OSS msg to get to know abt relevant SAP GUI version.

Hi Ala,
If u know the process chain name, u can directly see log view of that process chain and right click on that failed ABAP program click "display mesaged". Now note down the error message and see that in st22.
If u dont know the process chain name..
In SM37 go to the job log for that pirticular job which is failed, it gives u tha program name and varient name.
now goto SE38 and give that program name and variant then click on display.It gives u process chain name.

but no correct results.so I am posting in the forum.
My requirement is ,We have two systems(Independent).I want to down one program , including selection texts & includes from one system and wanted to upload to other system.

Go to Job Schedule, put Job Step parameter as your program and see scheduled Job.
In Schedule Job double click to see start condition. and steps to see details and variant.

ABAP program to load an infocube

Hello All,
I am new to BW and have learnt the basic concepts only. I now have to write an ABAP program to load one of the infocube after receiving the data in the form of a flat file from an external system. Any ideas on how I can go about this will be greatly appreciated and rewarded! Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I guess you can try to raise an event to trigger the PC or IP to load the cube.
You should raise the event through your ABAP code and schedule the PC or IP to run once this event is raised.
Create event in tcode SM62
Use FM: BP_EVENT_RAISE to raise an event
Use after event in the start variant of the process chain.
You create user events in SM62. In SM62, next to "User even names", click on Maintain and press Enter. Click on the Create icon to create a new event (let's call it ZEVENT).
Next, in your process chain, change the Start variant to be scheduled "After event", and put in ZEVENT for the event name. Also, click on the "Periodic job" at the bottom. This will automatically reschedule the jobs for the process chain after it executes.
Next, create an ABAP program (let's call it Z_EVENT_RAISE) to call the function module BP_EVENT_RAISE. You're code can look like this:

This ABAP program will prompt for an event name, so you will need to create a variant (let's call it ZEVENT) which will save the value of the event name (also ZEVENT). You will need the variant name to be able to trigger the event in a batch job.
Now all you need is the batch job. Use tcode SM36 to create a batch job where you call the ABAP program (Z_EVENT_RAISE) using the variant (ZEVENT).

Call ABAP program from Unix script passing dynamic filename

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to call an ABAP program from a Unix script passing a dynamic filename to the ABAP program?
We are receiving a file from an external company and on receipt of the file want to call an ABAP program passing the filename. The filename is made up of File ID, Date and Time which we need to read in the ABAP program. We usually use Events to trigger a program which is fine when the filename if static however since this filename will be dynamic we cannot do this. In addition we cannot just rename the file to a static name in the Unix script as we need to know the value of the date and time from the file ID in the ABAP program. I can change the ABAP program to check our /in directory for a Filename that starts with the fixed File ID however I thought there must be a better way of doing this. We want the external company to put this information in a file header record but they don't want to change the file contents. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You could follow the following method
1.Let the external file reside in the SAP application layer in a defined path e.g. /usr/sap/tmp/interface/working/
2.Write an ABAP program which will include the following steps:-
i) read all files in the file path using function module EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING
ii) Read the data from files existing in the directory using OPEN_DATASET statement
iii) After the files have been read move the files to another directory e.g. /usr/sap/tmp/interface/backup/ or you can delete the file.
3.Schedule this program to be executed depending on the frequency of the external file being generated.

Not able to reach start of selection event in the called program

hi,
I have a report 1 in which i am calling report2 using below syntax,
SUBMIT Report2 VIA JOB gv_jobname NUMBER gv_jobcount
WITH s_g_yr IN s_g_yr
WITH s_c_rf IN s_c_rf
AND RETURN.
the problem is when report 2 is called it exists after event "at selection screen output" and does not go in the event "start of selection".
Please advise. how can i reach the "start of selection" event where all the processing logic is specified..

Hi,
In your report you have used the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT. So, first it will trigger this event and then it will go for START-OF-SELECTION event.
Events will trigger in this following way.
LOAD PROGRAM
INITIALIZATION
AT SELECTION-SCREEN
AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT
START-OF-SELECTION
END-OF-SELECTION
TOP-OF-PAGE
END-OF-PAGE
In above sequence events will trigger in report.

How to create schedule job and event trigger in XI to start a ABAP program?

Dear All:
Here are what i need to do:
1.To run a ABAP program to start an XI scenario per hour.
2.To run a ABAP program to start an XI scenario per day at 6 PM.
3.To run a ABAP program used event trigger to make sure that XI scenario has finished the process and after that wait for 10 min later and run again.
only i know is used sm36 & sm37 to set up a schedule job.
but what i don't know is how to do it step by step.
especially point 3.
are there any step by step example can show me how?

Hi,
If you want to trigger the event manually from within SAP, use transaction
SM64
in SAP this is done by scheduling a job
once a new customer is entered
your scheduled report sends customer master data
you can schedule your report (TCODE - BD12 I think) to one day or every 5 minutes... it depend on your needs and the system performence

ABAP Program using Selection Screen in Process Chain

Hi,
I have included an ABAP Program in the Process Chain.
The ABAP Program takes a selection screen value from user before execution.
I have created a variant for both the ABAP Process (YPV_ABC) and a variant for the Selection Screen (YPV_XYZ).
The ABAP Program executes perfectly well in SE 38.
I get the following message when I execute the Process Chain.
"Status Change of Process ABAP YPV_ABC.
Save Status and Trigger Events if Appropriate "
When I click Yes, the ABAP Process becomes red.
These are error messages in the log
516 - Job started
550 - Step 001 started (program RSPROCESS, variant &0000000012961, user ID ALEREMOTE)
25 -    Could not ascertain code page
546 - Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
My questions are:
1) Is it possible to use an ABAP Program which has a user input screen in Process Chain?
2) Could you please help with the above error?

ABAP programs, with variants established for selection screens, are possible. We use them quite extensively for setting triggers to allow Process Chain to continue after an Interrupt Process has been hit.

I'm not quite sure what could be causing this. When you tested this program in SE38, did you test it with the same variant for the selection screen and did you execute it in background?

I am running an ABAP program, and I get the following short dump:
Time limit exceeded. The program has exceeded the maximum permitted runtime and has therefore been terminated. After a certain time, the program terminates to free the work processfor other users who are waiting. This is to stop work processes being blocked for too long by
- Endless loops (DO, WHILE, ...),
- Database acceses with large result sets,
- Database accesses without an apporpriate index (full table scan)
- database accesses producing an excessively large result set,
The maximum runtime of a program is set by the profile parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time". The current setting is 10000 seconds. After this, the system gives the program a second chance. During the first half (>= 10000 seconds), a call that is blocking the work process (such as a long-running SQLstatement) can occur. While the statement is being processed, the database layer will not allow it to be interrupted. However, to stop the program terminating immediately after the statement has been successfully processed, the system gives it another 10000 seconds. Hence the maximum runtime of a program is at least twice the value of the system profile parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time".

In EKKN we have 200 000 entries.

Thanks for your help, this problem seems to be quite challenging...
In EKKN we have 200 000 entries. 199 999 entries have value of 00000000 in column ps_psp_pnr, and only one has a value which identifies a WBS element.
I believe the problem is that there isn't any WBS element in PRPS which has the value of 00000000. I guess that is the reason why EKKN is read sequantially.
I also tried this one, but it doesn't help at all. Before the SELECT statement is executed, there are 594 entries in internal table p_lt_proj_sel:
DATA p_lt_proj_sel LIKE p_lt_proj OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
p_lt_proj_sel[] = p_lt_proj[].
DELETE p_lt_proj_sel WHERE pspnr = 0.
SORT p_lt_proj_sel by pspnr.
SELECT ps_psp_pnr ebeln ebelp zekkn sakto FROM ekkn

I also checked that the index P in EKKN is active.
Can I somehow force the optimizer to use the index?

What is the need of END-OF-SELECTION event in ABAP reporting

Can anyone explain the need of the END-OF-SELECTION event in ABAP Reports?
This event is used to terminate the previous event. Is that right? or is there any specific use of it?
and when exactly we use this event while writing a report? I mean what purpose?

After all the data has been selected END-OF-SELECTION event writes the data to the screen
The END-OF-SELECTION event is triggered in executable programs once the logical database has finished reading all data and before the list processor is started.

Mostly end-of-selection is used in logical data base. It is not mandatory.
Ex:
If you use a logical database in your report then this event is mandatory because when all the data selection from the database is finished this events get triggers.
For example if you are populating a internal table using a logical data base event 'GET' then you need this event because if you don't use this you get display again and again for each selection.
START-OF-SELECTION.
GET PERNR.
itab-pernr = pernr-pernr.
append itab.
*this get triggers after all selection from database.
END-OF-SELECTION.
loop at itab.
write:/ itab-pernr.
endloop.

Hi Rob thanks for your response. I thought about doing an OSS note however; I would think I would need to get the problem in config corrected first as it contradicts each other. The problem I am talking about is how they are to return material to vendor....I have never even seen this as a process in my 10 years....
Process.....when the PO is a return to vendor PO they go to migo and choose the goods receipt and mvmt type 101 and the system will default the 161 in the item level....the two are inconsistent. If I try to change the top level to a 161 mvmt (as this is what I am used to seeing) it gives the error that the PO is not a stock transport order... Would you agree that I should correct that problem first before creating an OSS note?
