ABAP Query in SQVI

Hi,
Can i create an ABAP query in SQVI, the query should basically take a parameter (transaction number) and call the READ_TEXT function module and return the relevent information.

Do not use SQVI in your business scenario,rather You can write a report with the logic which reads the text information of a transaction.

if i want to get only the employees which entered my organization during the last month where should i add the ABAP code, under which section => extras -> code. i have there several options - data, initialization, at selection-screen output etc, what to choose??????????

query has got some limitatins compared to Reports which we write using SE38
these queries are user specific and client specific and can't be transportable and you can't write your own code as you wish like reports

Why you are using SQ01/02 query? you can't get all the facilities what you use in general abap program report
Query is basically intended for functional consultants to get the data by joining the tables
it is Client specific and user specific
You can't use all the events and F4 help like thing in them.

I have used SQVI for ABAP query but look slike it is only for inner join.
Is there a way that I could do left outer join, or any other way.

in SQVI there is this graphical tool to link the tables. Just right click the thin line between the two fileds and choose 'left outer join'

SQ01 --> maintain query
SQ02 --> maintain info set
SQ03 --> maintain user groups

ABAP QUERY Report : column number change

Hi friends,
I need to modify the existing ABAP QUERY REPORT.
I have added a new field in the selection screen.
When I execute the query, it(our new filed) is displaying at the end of the columns.
But I want it to be at 8th columns. please help me.
When I try to change the out position to "8"at "Basic list" -> select check box of our field and double clict it, I am getting the following error.
Warning: Overlapping fields
Those fields overlapped by other fields will not be displayed in their entirety.
So I could not display the new field at 8 th column.
Guys. Please help me.

You have to change the position of each field after 8th column
suppose you added your new field at the 8th column position
then all the subsequent fields positions you have to adjust as per their length

About Abap Query..

hi all,
I have added few fields in the existing info-set and mapped these new fields in the respective quries...and added code for each field.......it is working fine...
But, before executing/testing a message window is displaying saying that " query not current" -- "Difference between query and inforset"....
what I have to do more ..so that this message window doesn't come..

Have you changed the Infoset in the correct Query only
One more thing is that these queries are User specific
So you should also in the same user group to change it
there should be some mismatch between the query and the infoset you changed

Effect
The join syntax represents a recursively nestable join expression. A join expression consists of a left-hand and a right- hand side, which are joined either by means of [INNER] JOIN or LEFT [OUTER] JOIN . Depending on the type of join, a join expression can be either an inner ( INNER) or an outer (LEFT OUTER) join. Every join expression can be enclosed in round brackets. If a join expression is used, the SELECT command circumvents SAP buffering.
On the left-hand side, either a single database table, a view dbtab_left, or a join expression join can be specified. On the right-hand side, a single database table or a view dbtab_right as well as join conditions join_cond can be specified after ON. In this way, a maximum of 24 join expressions that join 25 database tables or views with each other can be specified after FROM.
AS can be used to specify an alternative table name tabalias for each of the specified database table names or for every view. A database table or a view can occur multiple times within a join expression and, in this case, have various alternative names.
The syntax of the join conditions join_cond is the same as that of the sql_cond conditions after the addition WHERE, with the following differences:
At least one comparison must be specified after ON.
Individual comparisons may be joined using AND only.
All comparisons must contain a column in the database table or the view dbtab_right on the right-hand side as an operand.
The following language elements may not be used: BETWEEN, LIKE, IN.
No sub-queries may be used.
For outer joins, only equality comparisons (=, EQ) are possible.
If an outer join occurs after FROM, the join condition of every join expression must contain at least one comparison between columns on the left-hand and the right-hand side.
In outer joins, all comparisons that contain columns as operands in the database table or the view dbtab_right on the right-hand side must be specified in the corresponding join condition. In the WHERE condition of the same SELECT command, these columns are not allowed as operands.
Resulting set for inner join
The inner join joins the columns of every selected line on the left- hand side with the columns of all lines on the right-hand side that jointly fulfil the join_cond condition. A line in the resulting set is created for every such line on the right-hand side. The content of the column on the left-hand side may be duplicated in this case. If none of the lines on the right-hand side fulfils the join_cond condition, no line is created in the resulting set.
Resulting set for outer join
The outer join basically creates the same resulting set as the inner join, with the difference that at least one line is created in the resulting set for every selected line on the left-hand side, even if no line on the right-hand side fulfils the join_cond condition. The columns on the right-hand side that do not fulfil the join_cond condition are filled with null values.
Example
Join the columns carrname, connid, fldate of the database tables scarr, spfli and sflight by means of two inner joins. A list is created of the flights from p_cityfr to p_cityto. Alternative names are used for every table.

BOM Explosion Query Thru SQVI

Hi Experts,
We want to make a Query of BOM explosion, suppose we require 100 Nos X, 200 Nos Y, 200 Nos Z, where X,Y,Z are my FG Material. We want to put all the three FG in one go, and the child components required quantity get populated. Which Tables we have to use and in what order. Kindly suggest. Or any other method.

You can use the Function Module: CS_BOM_EXPLOSION for BOM Explosion.
It is better to use this FM in SAP query than SQVI.

Is it possible to write sub-query in SQVI ???

Standard SAP has SQ01/SQ02, which are similar to SQVI but with additional functionality. A big advantage is that the infosets are easily re-usable. It is possible to get some very nice reports if all you are doing is simple data extracts.
If you are a programmer, you can also insert ABAP code into your SQ02 infosets, which can extend the usefulness of the resulting SQ01 reports.
Documentation exists in the standard online help. There is a printfile at

Although this is a R/3 4.6C doc, SAP Query hasn't changed all that much.

How to create an ABAP Query with OR logical expression in the select-where

Hi,
In trying to create an ABAP query with parameters. So it will select data where fields are equal to the parameters entered. The default logical expression is SELECT.. WHERE... AND.. However I want to have an OR logical expression instead of AND.. how can I attain this??
Please help me on this.. Points will be rewarded.

You cannot just replace AND with OR in an ABAP QUERY. ABAP QUERY is a self generated SAP code. You'll just declare the tables, input parameters and output fields to be displayed and it will create a SAP standard code. If you'll try to change the code and replace the AND with OR in the SAP standard code, the system will require you to enter access key/object key for that particular query.

Yes, that is exactly what need to have. I need to retireve DATA whenever one of the conditions was satisfied.

Like what I have said, this is a standard SAP code so we can't do your suggestion.
I have already tried to insert a code in the ABAP query (there's a part there wherein you can have extra code) but that didn't work. Can anybody help me on this.

Logical database of ABAP query

Hi,
Can anybody please let me know what is the Logical database for ETXDCI, ETXDCH & ETXDCJ (Tax tables) with any sales document tables? I need to develop one ABAP query for the users.
I am a Functional person so I would like to know Can anybody please let me know how I can find out the Logical database?

Try the BRF logical database.
I found it by searching in which programs the tables were used.
It show program SAPDBBRF which is the program for logical database BRF.
