ABAP requirement.

My requirement is-
I have HR ESS in place. Whenever an user places a request for leave, mail goes to SAP Inbox. I need to send a copy to external mail.
I got the code somehow.
I need to sent mail to the approver/manager as soon as there is a leave request. pl. help.
How is HR ESS Portal linked with R/3?
I need to sent mail to the approver/manager?
Please let me know I guarantee points for this.

there is not need to operate ESS on WAS? ,u can Connet ESS @ 4.7 itself, check the link In which u have PDF on Enhancements for Leave Requests.

I have got the following requirment:
I will have to have a job/program running every hour that will make a list of the files left by XI Core, and will process with the transaction ff_5 file by file (A variant may need to be created).
Another job will have to be scheduled 30 minutes later, in order to delete the previous executed files so the files are not inserted twice in the system.

XI are the component of SAP netweaver.
In XI: It is separated in two parts

Under the development you have two parts Integration repository which is desing part which involves small amount of Java knowledge whenever your requirement is not fulfilled by standard SAP XI function.

This is very simple stpes once your design is over.Based on your requirement you have to use the standard adapter provided by SAP for example if file is coming then u will go for File adapter,if IDOC is psoted to R3 then you go for IDOC adapter,communication with remote client u go for SOAP adapter.
NOw coming to ur question moving for ABAP to XI. U do not require to move from ABAP to XI. As a XI resource u need ABAP skills as well.
ABAP skills will be advantage for you.
ABAP knowledge is required in the below scenarios:
1) While dealing with Proxies where u need to send the data from R3 system that time u need to write a select stmt and call the proxy method in roder to send the data from R3 to Legacy similary for reverse case some time u will get the data from legasy system and u need to fill the table in R3 system so that time again ABAP is used.
2) In dealing with RFCs/BAPIs where u r calling ur custom RFCs FM for any validations or taking the response from that RFCs
3) IDOC scenarios where if u r not using the SAP Std IDOCs u r extending the IDOCs where u required abap knoeledge for filling up the extended segments in user exit.

VOFM - pricing requirements ( abaper require some functional assistance)

HI,
I had written the required code in one of the customer routines in the transaction: vofm.
to change the tax code according to the country of destination.
I was given information that this will be triggered during the sales order change..(va02)..
When i put a break point in that include it is not triggering..
Can anyone tell me how to trigger (either std include or customerized include) of transaction: vofm (pricing requirements) in the sales order change tranx (VA02).

Hi there,
Once the routine is configured in VOFM, it has to be activated for eg using RV80HGEN. Only then you can apply that routine.
Also when the logic is not getting triggered in debug, then it means that either the logic is wrong, code has been put in a wrong location or tables / fields are called wrongly.
Ask the ABAPer to check points & then try.
Also changes in VA02 is captured by function V & new entry by H.

In ABAP, I have below code to attach:- Here I need to change from 1 to 100 like below. currently I see it as re-work, if i put the code each time changing manually. so I want make it in a loop and so dynamic and hence less code. How to achieve this. Please
help. Any ABAP string functions to be used?

How to Call Java from ABAP

I have installed JCO & created the RFC in SAP. i have used below code to test my RFC connection & it's working fine.
But In the below report, where to call the JAVA Program & what code i should use to call java code .
Actually my ABAP requirement is to download a file. Then i need to call JAVA program, inside ABAP, to encrypt the downloaded file. Here, Java program is used to encrypt the file. Now question is, how to call the Java program inside the ABAP code. Please advice with the code sample. Thanks a lot.

You might accomplish your goal using external operating system commands.
1) Define in SM69 an external command, letu2019s say ZJAVA. This command will execute a script on the operating system, letu2019s call it calljava.sh.
2) In script calljava.sh you just call java, passing some parameters. For example, java $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 $6 $7
3) In your ABAP program you call the ZJAVA external command and pass parameters to it. Of course, one of the parameters must be your Java program name.

Although both technologies have same functionalities but even then they are not identical.
Following are some of the differences:
Language :- First difference is the programming language used as the names Webdynpro ABAP and Webdynpro JAVA reflect. In ABAP Webdynpro, along with ABAP coding, RFCu2019s are also supported via Service call. Unlike Webdynpro ABAP, we cannot do ABAP coding in Webdynpro JAVA. Instead RFCu2019s and Web services are created and used in it to serve this purpose. In addition to Web services and adaptive RFC, Java Beans is another model supported by Webdynpro JAVA.
Design Time Environment :- Webdynpro ABAP requires ABAP Workbench (SE80) while SAP Netweaver Developer Studio is necessary for designing Webdynpro JAVA applications. So, additional installation is required. This studio reduces the development effort and utilizes some visual tools for creating components which can be reused.
Storage :- Applications developed using Webdynpro ABAP are stored centrally in ABAP server whereas in case of Webdynpro JAVA, the code remains on the client machine that is developed using a tool called Netweaver Developer studio. So, due to the powerful version control system of Webdynpro ABAP, the load removes from the development machine which is not possible in case of Webdynpro JAVA.
Skills Required :- For Webdynpro ABAP, a developer should have knowledge of ABAP programming, Development tools, Database concepts, ABAP Objects. However, Webdynpro JAVA requires skill set comprising java programming, java development tools and object-oriented concept.
Performance:- Large scale applications that involve large number of web users canu2019t work well on ABAP server. So, for robust and scalable applications, Webdynpro JAVA is preferred because of powerful J2EE server as proved by Sun Microsystems. However, small-scale or applications involving small or medium users can go well with Webdynpro ABAP. Thus, performance varies depending on the number of web users and one can choose ABAP or JAVA accordingly.
So the decession is that its totaly based on your available skillsets and your scenario to be implemented.

Basically you would use ABAP in the followin areas in BW:
1. Coding extractors in case of generic extractors in R/3.
2. User exits in R/3.
3. Transfer routines
4. Update routines.
5. Infopackage routines(for populating selection values).
6. User exits in BW.
7. Eceptional cases may include BadI,etc..

I have another question to ask: We are in Netweaver 700 with SPS18 on both ABAP and Non ABAP system and we will like to configure CTS+ to our system.
My question is that. are we all set to install CTS+ with the Netweaver 700 and SPS18? or do we need to have EHP1 before we can start install.

I am used to programming in anguages such as JAVA, C++. In these languages
You can put spaces anywhere. ABAP requires spaces somewhere but not in other places; e.g.
Select * from mara
Where ( MATNR = u2018ZCHu2019 OR MATNR = u2018ZXXu2019 )
One has to have spaces after ( and before ); yet when I was using
Select * from mara
Where MATNR IN(u2018ZCHu2019, u2018ZXXu2019)
There cannot be any spaces after IN or so.
Are there some rules documented where one needs spaces and where one does not.

If you want to know about the exact syntax then write that keyword in abap editor and while keeping the cursor on it press f1 , it will take you to the syntax and exmple also.
