ABAP UME

Hello,
I have connected to our ABAP UME, for this I had to create/check the following roles in R3 before I changed the database source.
SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION
SAP_J2EE_ADMIN
SAP_J2EE_GUEST
SAP_BC_FP_ICF
ADSCallers.
All roles except ADSCallers are standard SAP roles and already existed.  Can I copy these roles, changing the name to our companies standard? And if I do this will the connection from the portal to the ABAP UME still work or do these roles have to be exactly as they are named above?
Many thanks,
Nick.

Hi Nick
While in theory you could change the names, it will probably lead to grief. The PFCG roles become portal groups, and a lot of hard coded group names are assumed.
Cheers

  • ABAP UME issue

    Hi
I am installing the JAVA add on to our NW2004s BW (7.0) system. The third stage is stuck at the point where the we enter the J2EE engine user passwords, the screen is headed "SAP SYSTEM > ABAP UME".
No matter what passwords are entered the install GUI will not move to the next screen.
Notes 978127 & 1017181 explain the problem and point to a solution.
    I sapcar'd the SCSCLIENT_2-20000907.sar file into the
    \BS_2005_SR2_SAP_Installation_Master\IM_OS400_PPC64\COMMON\INSTALL
directory BUT it still dosn't want to move past this screen despite restarting the install a few times. I checked the object authority and it looks OK.
Anyone else not been able to get past the ABAP UME screen?
    Thanks
    Matthew Milne

    Thanks guys,
Note 927734 is the SR1 version of the NetWeaver 2004s install on as/400 and has the same information in this area as 978127 & 1017181. We are installing NetWeaver 2004s SR2 but the fix is the same for SR1 & SR2.
Problem is that despite putting the missing jlaunch, jstartup.jar, etc files in the install subdirectory the SAPinst program still will not go past the ABAP UME screen.
The password is is 8 characters in length.

  • J2EE ADDIn INSTALLATION DOES NOT MOVE AFTER ABAP UME STAGE

    Hi,
I am installing java add-in for ABAP system for NW2004s SR2 system. I am able to complete SCS and DB instances. But during installation of CI at step u201CSAP system > ABAP UME u201Cafter
pressing u201CNext u201Cbutton the installation does not continue without any
warning or error message, It asks for SDM password and J2EE_ADMIN password, even after I give the password, the installation does not go forward. After pressing next it still comes to the same step.
I had done a proper un-install through SAPinst, cleaned up all the j2ee and SDM folders manually, changed the jdk version, etc and tried, but still the same issue.
I had created j2ee_admin, sapjsf, j2ee_guest users manually, cleared j2ee and SDM folders manually and tried to re-install but the same issue.
There are no error messages or logs given, but just the issue. Any help at the earliest would be appreciable.

  • ABAP UME synch with J2EE

I have setup MI server ABAP + J2EE however I am having issue with synching the user accounts. I can tell the j2ee user accounts are synching with the ABAP stack client 001. How and where do I change J2ee ume to synch with my productive client 500 abap ume.
    Thanks
    Mikie

    Hello Mr. Mikie,
Please follow the following ,To change the J2EE UME to synch with your productive client 500.
Start the  config tool .and then goto : Global Server Configuration->Services-> com.sap.security.core.ume.service.
After you select this service Search for the property on the right hand with name ume.r3.connection.master.client.
It should be set to 001( in your case)
    change this value to 500.
Save & apply this changes and close the config tool.
After this please restart your j2ee instance.
Please do revert back to me.

  • EP 6.0 and ABAP UME Issue

Discovered a strange occurance when using EP6.0 SP19 with ABAP based UME.
If you change the user details (email address for example) in SU01 - it is not reflected in the portal UME details BUT a change of the same users details in the portal UME is immediately reflected in the SU01 user record in the backend.
I havent managed to arrange a UME restart yet to see if the new data is pulled through then but there must be a UME setting for this surely?  Some sort of UME cache setting?
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks........ Haydn

    Hi Haydn,
Invalidating the cache should not force you to log on again, at least not in 7.0. I was able to try this this morning. (My coworker tells me that you might have a problem in your authschemes.) This is completely independent of the session management. When you log on the UME stores your user and the relevant groups, roles, actions, and account objects in the cache. These object then expire after an hour by default. The UME uses this cached information in most cases. If the information it requires is not cached, the UME gets the information it requires from the data source directly and stores it in the cache.

  • ABAP UME Issues

    Hi All
Wonder if someone could please help me out with this issue.
I am trying to configure the UME on a portal to use the ABAP backend of an ERP. I have made the changes in the configtool and the engine comes up. But I am unable to login to the portal using the user defined on the ABAP with SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role.
Wonder where I am going wrong.
    Thanks a bunch
    Hari

What happens when you try to logon? Are you creating the user in the same client that the portal is pointing to?
    Thanks,
    GLM

  • Portal User Contact Info : ABAP UME

    Folks,
I have my UME set to the ABAP server, and I need to access the user city, country etc from the portal, for which I am using
    (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest()).getUser().getCity();
Moreover I do not want to maintain this information on the Portal Identity Management, but from the ABAP system when I create the user id.
I want to know where I should update the city and country on the R/3 system so that I can fetch it in the portal using the above mentioned API.
    Thanks for your time.

    >>Is there an API for that, as ((IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest
    >>()).getUser().getCompany() does not seem to return the company that we see >>in SU01.
You can create custom login module to synchronize values which are not mapped from R/3 UME to Portal UME (including city).
    >>Also does this mean that if I maintain the Contact Information in Identity >>Management, it is not stored in the R/3 but in the Portal itself?
All user, account, role and groups attributes wich are not mapped to R/3 UME are going to be stored in local portal UME database.

  • XSS using ABAP UME

I used to have a XML file from AD which can be uploaded as the ume.persistence.data_source_configuration.
Now for this current portal we only want to have the connected ABAP system's users show up in XSS ,i.e. no any AD involved.
What sould be the xml file to be uploaded?

  • Portal UME in ABAP asking user mapping???

    Hi all,
I've decided to configure portal UME beeing the ABAP UME in backend system. I Can create users in portal and SU01 and i can logon in both systems with the same user. Now i've a system to connect the MSS/ESS iviews and portal asks me for user credentials in R/3, why ? It is the same user !! Have I to configure anything more?
    Thanks for replys,
    Best Regards,
    Pedro Rodrigues.

    Hi Pedro,
To my knowledge ESS/MSS iViews are connecting ICM server on ABAP side and, thus, BSP iViews (at least, some of them). To avoid requests for user credentials from ICM server you need to configure SSo between your J2EE (where Portal is installed) and ABAP systems.
Here is the link that might be helpful for you:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/89/6eb8e7af2f11d5993700508b6b8b11/frameset.htm
Also you can search in the SDN Weblogs for steps on how to configure SSO.

  • Are Multiple (Concurrent) ABAP Data Sources for AS Java UME Possible?

    Hi All,
We have a solution which is using a JAAS logon module for partner authentication. for reason's I won't go into we have decided that it is best to use an ABAP data source. We will also be using the same JAAS approach for other ABAP applications in the future. Ideally we would configure the same JAAS server to use ABAP UME data sources from ABAP server 1 and ABAP server 2.
I see there are provisions in the documentation for multiple UME data sources of different types but it doesn't clearly say about different concurrent data sources. IS this even possible? If so is it wise?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Julius,
Thanks again for your reply. This is confusing. We have an existing .Net logon application where we centrally administer accounts and where users log in. On successful login they are issued a .net Auth cookie. Our JAAS module takes that cookie, does a web service call back to .Net and authenticates them. So authentication is done on the basis of the .Net cookie, not the java UME. We simply need a java ume to allow users to execute the application that invokes the JAAS module. The application invokes the JAAS module and if they successfully authenticate they are forwarded to the requesting SAP application. So the JAAS ume is really just needed to allow various users to run the JAAS invoking application starter. Ideally we'd use the same starter application for users of SAP Application 1,2,3, etc.
So that's where the question came from on multiple ABAP  UME data sources for a single Java instance.
Hope that makes sense. Regardless the answer I guess is not possible but you see the method to our madness. And yes it is madness.
    Thanks,
    Doug

  • Change of UME data source from ABAP to LDAP

    Hi all
we are running a NW04s installation with separate ABAP and JAVA stacks. As we thought our LDAP would be available soon, we configured the JAVA stack as UME data source and of course the ABAP stack for the ABAP-users.
Now it looks like the LDAP will take some time to come. So we would like to change the JAVA data source to the ABAP, so that we can reduce the double work needed for the user administration (JAVA + ABAP).
Now the questions. Once the LDAP will be available we would like to configure the user administration to use the LDAP.
Is this possible, with or without SAP support? Can we get SAP support for this?
    Thanks for your answers.
    Edmund

I know if you install the portal with an ABAP UME it cannot be changed to something else but assuming you install as database originally then I dont see why you could change from db --> abap --> ldap if you so choose?
There doesnt appear to be any "technical" reason why you shouldnt be able to do this but almost all SAP documentation says you cannot.  I assume it has something to do with data inconsistency once the link is broken - probably leaving you with lots of users you cannot delete.  I get the distinct impression reading between the lines that you cannot revert back to ABAP when it doesnt work either, which is presumably why SAP do not recommend you even try .....
    Haydn
PS.  Ive never actually tried it myself - ive been frightened by SAP telling me it doesnt work!!!!

  • Can 2+ J2EE Clusters use one UME

This might sound odd, but it's something I need for a transition. I have one J2EE cluster running Portal. It is using LDAP+DB for the UME. I have internal users stored in LDAP and a few external users stored in the DB. I need to create a new cluster that will provide access to a few web dynpro apps. This cluster will be located in a different datacenter.
Is there any way to automatically sync the DB users in the UME between these clusters without using LDAP as the central point?
Or perhaps have one cluster use the other one as a source for user master data?
My other option is to create the user twice, which is something I would like to avoid.
I know I can export the users from one and import into the other, but them I lose the password information.
    Any Ideas?

    Hi,
As far as my knowledge goes you can setup an central ABAP UME where all the users are stored in an ABAP system. I am not sure but I think that there is an similar option for LDAP (all users created only in LDAP).
I don't think there's the option to have a "central user storage" in your J2EE system.
    Best regards, Dido

    Hi James Bond
From the exception above, it can be seen that the AppIntegrator iView is trying to run on the "SAP_LocalSystem" where it should be running on a "real" backend system.
Please check what is the System alias in this iView and make sure it points on a backend system which has the same alias in the Portal System landscape.
    Hope that helps,
    Robin Hood.
