ABAP WebDynpro - Session remains open....

Hi Experts,
We have configured ABAP Webdynpro (SD Order Creation) iView in SAP Portal. When we test it from intranet, everything works fine and session in backend gets terminated when we leave that page on portal. But when we test it from internet, session remains open and not getting closed. How to terminate these onen sessions??
SAP Portal and backend SAP ECC are on same domain....
Helpful answer will be respected.....
Thanks

Hi Parmod,
are you accessing the application in exactly the same way in the two cases?
logging into portal from internet?
One thing that you might need to be wary of is a lack of pop-ups. The portal uses a pop-up window when a user closes the browser to terminate the session.
I've had plenty of problems with pop-up blockers that have prevented this pop-up from terminating the portal sessions. Sometime these pop-up blockers are configured to operate only on internet sites and not on internal intranet sites. That might be a possible cause.
Cheers,
Chris

  • Extend ABAP Webdynpro session

    Hi experts,
Is there a way to extend the abap webdynpro user session?
The problem is that the users want to have 30-40 minutes gap between any user interaction on the application (e.g. they are on a meetting they discuss something, then enter a value to the webdynpro application then they are discussing another issue, and after 30-40 min they enter another value to the WDA application)
Currently the application cannot have 30-40 mins gaps between two user interaction, becase the whole app will end in a session timeot error.
    Thanks
    N.

Yes there is. Check the following help link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/25/7e153a1a5b4c2de10000000a114084/content.htm
Roughly speaking it's the parameter rdisp/plugin_auto_logout within ICM. This will allow you to extend the timeout counter.
My advice: Do not extend it. Since people are both demanding AND stupid, this will not only lower your security and your performance but people will quickly ask you to extend it, AGAIN, so they can have an hour lunch break period between WebDynpro interactions...
    Hope it helps you though

    Hi,
I have serious question that is not answered.
Can I see flash Isands for ABAP Webdynpro and use Open Laszlo components.  Basically Flex is not open source and we would like to use open laszlo components instead of flex.
Can this be done in ABAP webdynpro?

Adobe has decided to contribute the full Flex SDK (including MXML compiler, automation libraries and data visualization components) to Apache Software Foundation as an independent open source project. "
There is also an Open Source distribution of Adobe Flex SDK. http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Flex+SDK. Only the Adobe Flash Builder (previously Adobe Flex Builder) is a commerical software.

Recently, we have upgraded our ERP system (SAP ECC 6.0 SPS17) with EHP4 SPS8. SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA patch level same on 701_0008.
FQDN is mantianed at icm/host_name_full parameter in system as well as in /etc/hosts file with associated system IP address.
As suggested by  Ted Dinh,  we do not find any duplicate MIME files in our MIME Repository (SE80) and we cleared/invalidated  ICM cache many times in problem analysis.
As suggested by  Thierno Diarra , in our affected system domain WDY_MD_UI_ELEMENT_CATEGORY is well maintained in value ranges.
We have raised SAP OSS Message for the same, they told us to check dns server connectivity/settings with the affected system. we did the suggested DNS settings in affected system. But  still the same error message is occuring. They have suggested same sap notes like #979039 and #1009930 & #1483210 , but all the corrections/suggections/SICF service status as mentioned, are found OK in our system.

  • Smartform & ABAP Webdynpro & Internal table

    Hi Expert,
I am able to open the smartfrom by using ABAP Webdynpro.
But when I try to add the table under "Global Settings -> From Interface -> Table"
Paramemter Name       Type Assignment    Associated Type
    I_ZSG_PAY_DATA     Like                          ZSG_PAY_DATA
It works fine when I test it in t-code SMARTFORMS. But when I use the same ABAP Webdynpro program to open this smartform, the error appear.
    "Calling Parameter incorrect"
Could you please let me know how to fix it?
    Thanks a lot,
    WF

    Hi William,
If you have a working smartform then you should be able to display it in WD by passign its XSTRING to the PDFSOURCE of it.
Just check that where you have written the code to get the XSTRING of smartform in WD. You might have modified the smartform interface and forgot to call the revised FM generated after the smartform was changed in WD.
Just re-write the entire code to generate XSTRING for smartform and see if it works or not.
You can also try to put a break point in the code and see where exactly it is failing i.e. whether it is to do with calling smartform or converting it or WD related.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

  • WebDynpro ABAP - inter session events possible?

    Hi Experts,
I have a ABAP-WebDynpro application with various tabstrips to show and maintain process data within a production process. Each tabstrip contains several data of a specific process step. At the beginning, very few data are already present. While production progresses, chemical analysis is being taken and machine data is gathered. Assoon as new data for the process step is available, a refresh should be performed.
Though not perfect in every aspect, we made this scenario work in a similar way in ABAP Dynpro by using inter session eventing (ISE). Is there a possibility to trigger events in WebDynpro cross-session - for example after adding data to the database?
    Best regards
    Jens

There is no real cross session eventing available in Web Dynpro.  The problem is two fold. First, UI updates can't be initiated by the server in HTTP (unlike the SAPGUI which does have a push mechanism to the client).  This is a current limitaiton of HTTP itself and not something Web Dynpro related.  So to trigger the phase model of Web Dynpro, something must occur on the client to trigger the server event.  In NetWeaver 7.0 and 7.01 you have to use the timedTrigger UI element to acomplish this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/da/a6884121a41c09e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
You then generally used a shared memory object (or even temporary database entries) to communicate data or events between to different processes.  For instance a background job is running and places it status in a shared memory object attribute.  The Web Dynpro can then fire a TimedTrigger every minute to check the value of this shared memory object attribute.
In NetWeaver 7.02 we improve this process with a new capability called the Web Dynpro Notification Service.  Instead of the timedTrigger, we can simulate a push of data/events to the client using AJAX.  We open an secondary server request to the ICM to check the status of an event. That way we don't have to disrupt the client side activity or incurre the full Web Dynpro Phase Model until we know a change in the status of our event has occured.  Also since the status info is stored in the ICM Cache, you don't even have to fall into an ABAP Workprocess to check the status.

  • How to open a brfplus Catalog from abap webdynpro screen.

How to open a catalog from abap web dynpro application. and also what roles are to be provided to a user for restricting access only to the objects in the given catalog.

    Hi Pratik,
do you use NetWeaver 7.0, Enhancement Pack 2 (or higher)?
Then you can then define an own UI mode class and set it via SET_UI_MODE( ) in IF_FDT_WD_UI_EXECUTION before you call EXECUTE_CATALOG_BROWSER().
An explanation how to define a UI mode class is available in the chapter "Configuration through a UI mode class (7.0/7.1 EHP2)" of the document [Embedding a BRFplus Object in an ABAP WebDynpro Application|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/50e44bf9-9135-2d10-2ea2-b13e5be8661d]
Hint: With help of the interface IF_FDT_WD_USER_CONFIGURATION you have the possibility to hide views in the navigation view by using the respective, listed parameters (e.g.. GC_PARAMETER_FAVORITES_VIEW). Please be aware of that the configuration is just available to adapt the UI, it does not fulfill the requirements to act as an authority concept. If you do not set the parameter GC_PARAMETER_HIDE_SETTING_DLG of the interface IF_FDT_WD_CONFIGURATION to false, the user is also able to change it via the configuration dialog in the BRF+ workbench.
With the current available BRF plus standard authority concept you can prevent that the user can see the content of objects like applications but you have no influence to prevent the user from seeing UI artifacts like the repository tree. Please consult the documentation to learn more about its capabilities.
    Kind Regards,

  • Need to open an ABAP WebDynpro application from Portal UWL work item

    Hi All
I need some suggessions on how to navigate to an ABAP WebDynpo application iview from a mail(Work Item) in portal UWL.
    Requirement in detail:
Agreements will be created from portal( Agreement Creation Application is developed in ABAP webDynpro and iview has been created with in the portal for this WD application). as and when the agreement is created a mail (ECC Workitem) should trigger to the approver, who has access to portal and check the mail(Work Item) from the portal UWL.
The mail body should consist the link to the Agreement created in portal ( Link to navigate to the Agreement Creation ivew).
So, the main requirement is user should navigate to the Agreement creation iview when he open the mail from UWL.
Mail can be sent from ECC by using ABAP Function modules or by creating a workflow
Please advice me on how can we achieve this requirement.

    Hi,
You can call the iView directly by using NavigationTarget..
    http://myServer:50000/irj/portal?
    NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/myFolder/myRole/myIview
Plz note that the iView you are calling should be part of a Role.
And the PCD location of the iView in the Role must be given for Navigation Target.
    Check this URL

  • File open dialog - abap webdynpro

    Hi all,
please, i'm newbie in abap webdynpro. How to create an input field with file open dialog?
    thanks
    Filip

    Hi,
You can use FILE UPLOAD UI element from the UI Library for file upload functionality. It returns a XSTRING for the uploaded file. Create an attribute of type XSTRING in your view which contains the FILE UPLOAD UI element and bind the attribute to data property of FILE UPLOAD UI.
You have to manipulate this XSTRING to get the values from the file.
    Thanks,

    Few links to check:
    External debugging is not working
    Re: Debugging Abap webdynpro appln
Re: Unable to Debug WD ABAP application
Dedug is not working in Production Server.
    a) Check on number of R/3 sessions opened at a time.
    b) Check that user ID configured in portal using System Mapping Under 'Delegate User Administration' is the same user for which you are setting external breakpoint in backend system.

  • Your opinion on:  BSP or Java Webdynpro or ABAP Webdynpro?

Could you please give me your opinion on the business scenario we have here:
We are implementing SRM 4.0 with backend R/3 4.6C, WAS 6.4 and Portal 6.0. SRM has its typical shopping cart applications mainly for procurement and the workflow trail displaying the approval. The client wants us to build a few custom forms on the web frontend of SRM (or may be in Portal). The idea is to store these forms and display when needed with the status info just like a shopping cart.
<b>Now the requirements for these forms are as follows:</b>
    1. These forms will have multiple fields which need to have the F4 kind of help. (the F4 options will reside in SRM or R/3)
    2. The form should have some kind of a ALV grid  (autoexpanding feature) which will allow the user to put in multiple line items so that they could submit more items on one form.
    3. Users need to be able to attach a spreadsheet to the form which should not be editable once the form is submitted. The attached spreadsheet should be stored. (We are planning on using Archivelink Filenet for this)
    4. Upon submission, a workflow will be kicked off as per the defined Org structure for approval of the form.
    5. After submission, the user should be able to go and view the approval status of the form and also print the summary of the values that he entered in the form. (may be a smartform could be provided for this)
We looked at different options to accomplish this task:
    <b>BSP:</b>
Creating BSP pages and giving access as links to the user on the webfrontend of SRM. Now, if we go the BSP route, we need to develop in SRM as the R/3 4.6 c does not have BSP development capabilities. If we take this approach, I am not sure if all the above requirements (specially like attaching spreadhseets) will be met with BSP pages.
    SAP Webdynpro Java:
It seems that the Webdynpro is easier to use because of the graphical tools available. But the only problem if we go this route is that we will have to find a java guy.
    SAP Webdynpro ABAP:
We currently have WAS 6.4. As per the documentation, the ABAP Webdynpro development tool is available from NW04s onwards. So, we are still not sure if we could use it. But, we want to push towards upgrading if necessary. Being an old time ABAPer, developing ABAP Webdynpro seems do-able. (i know it may not be that easy).
Last but not the least, DIALOG Program:
Creating a dialog program in R/3 or SRM seems fairly simple. Then, an iview could be created on the portal for this transaction, though at this point I am not sure how a spreadsheet could be attached and stored within a dialog program.
The creation of the workflow may not be that bad after the original form is designed. The graphical display of the approval trail might be difficult, but we might get away with a report for that. For printing the details of the form, I guess I could develop a smartform and put out a button on the screen to print it out in the display view.
Could you please give me your opinion /  best approach for accomplishing this task, keeping in mind the complexities of these new dimension products?
    Thanks
    Sri

I would say that all four solutions to solving your tasks are technically feasible.  Here are some thoughts that I had however:
First ABAP Webdynpro: it is true that ABAP webdynpro is only available with Netweaver04s.  04S is still in ramp-up which means that only a subset of the customer base is allow to implement it.  It will not become generally available until later this year (check the service marketplace for current release estimates).  That being said, it probably elimintes WDA as a possiblity for your project unless you are will to wait and to upgrade.
However having worked with WDA for a while it is probably the best tool to custom develop what you describe.  It has excellent built-in F4 value help.  It also has a damn fine ALV grid implementation.  The spreadsheet could be just as simple as file upload in binary or your could try your hand at office integration.  Finally for the form you could use Adobe Interactive Forms which also has very nice integration into WDA.
Now to Dialog Programming: You could of course use dialog programming.  It seems a little bit of a waste to custom build something so large if WDA is in your near future.  There are obvious disadvantages (little OO structure, no MVC, etc).  You would have ALV grid, office integration and of course F4 help.  You could still use Adobe forms if you implement this on the 640 system.  However there are integration points with dialog and Adobe Interactive Forms.  You could still use printed forms however. If you did the dialog program on the 640 system, you could use the integrated ITS to expose it to the web.  The integrated ITS in my experience has quite nice performance although the look and feel remains just like the SAPGui.
The Java Webdynpro route:  Well you hit the nail on the head - if you don't have a Java programmer already and you don't have the bandwidth to invest in learning Java, this can be a problem.  The Java Webdynpro environment is quite nice.  There are some things I like better than ABAP and some things that ABAP is defintely still better at.  However when it comes to heavy integration with an ABAP backend - ABAP Webdynpro is still the way to go.  Java Webdynpro does have a help feature (OVS), but it isn't "for free" or nearly as nice as the ABAP Webdynpro (perhaps it will get there some day).  That is one of the major advantages of WDA - its closeness to the business data brings several framework advantages like F4 and field help.  WebDynpro Java in 640 also doesn't have an ALV grid implementation.  I am sure that this is something both environments will eventually have, but right now ABAP has the advantage.  On the other hand, Webdynpro Java has equal support when it comes to office integration, file upload, and Adobe Forms support.  You would have a more difficult time integration SmartForms however.
Finally we come to BSP.  Honestly if I were in your position I would probably choose BSP (unless you could wait for the ABAP Webdynpro upgrade).  You could build a nice MVC OO application using BSP (stateful or stateless).  The BSP product is mature and quite well documented thanks to SDN.  You have the BSP Extensions which when used in Design2003 use the Unified Renderer.  That means that your output will look nearly identical to the same UI elements in Webdynpro.  Also BSP supports portal integration (session management, eventing, and themes).
The downside to BSP is that it isn't a full framework (also one of its advantages).  You can insert all your own html and javascript (unlike webdynpro). But this also means that SAP doesn't delivery as many framework services.  For instance there is no ALV or Value Help.  There is no Office Integration or Adobe Forms integration.  There is some farily good Smart Forms integration.  Now the upside- many people have already hit these limitations and overcame them.  In the weblogs on SDN and in a certain SAP Press book (cough, cough) you will find out of the box solutions for many of these problems.  You can find ready to use solutions for Adobe Integration, Office Integration (using Microsoft Office Web Controls), and F4 help.  It will mean investing a little more time up front to get this "home grown framework" up and running - but it is perfectly feasible.
There is a learning curve to all these new technologies however.  This sounds like an abmious project.  I wouldn't want to try and tackle this project in any of these technologies if I was new to them.  With Webdynpro or BSP - consider giving yourself time to learn the environment and cut your teeth on some demo apps before jumping into such a huge development.

  • SOFM: Dsiplay method is not working when called from ABAP Webdynpro

    Hi All,
I want to open an attachment from ABAP Webdynpro.
I have approached in this fashion:
    1) Get the attachments as SOFM object key
    2) On Click of a link on Webdynpro, I am calling a function module within which I am creating an instance of the SOFM object
    3) Then I am calling the DISPLAY method
    It is not opening.
But, if it opens when I driectly execute the function module. It open when I directly test the business object.
    Any Idea ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Deb

Display Method uses the Dialogue Module, You should not access such methods in web dynpro which are SAPGUI specific.
Web Dynpro Applications are run in Browser environment which cannot understand Dialog, it can understand only HTML.
Read the attachments and get the content and use FileDownload UI element to show it to user.

  • How to call a RFC of a remote system from an ABAP webdynpro component

    Dear Experts,
I am a newbie in ABAP Webdynpro.
I am working on a requirement where I have a webdynpro component on ECC system.I need to call a RFC located on CRM system from my webdynpro component on the ECC system.
How do I do that ?? Please help.
    Regards,
    Mamai.

Calling RFC from some other system is same as local except the difference is that you have to give destination name while calling.
And the regarding the method of calling it depends on your FM.
if it is big RFC with complex structure, you can create the service call for it with destination given as RFC desitination.
if it is simple straight forward RFC you can directly call it.
for creating RFC service call call use this method
    1. Starting the Wizard
To start the wizard, position the cursor on the Web Dynpro component to be edited in the object list at the left margin of the
workbench window. Open its context menu and choose the entry Create->Service Call. The wizard is started and leads you
    through the creation process.
    Press Continue.
    2. Choice of Controller
On the second dialog window of the wizard, you can choose whether the service call is to be embedded in an existing
controller or whether a new controller is to be created for this purpose. Service calls can only always be embedded in
global controllers u2013 that is, in the component controller or in additionally created custom controllers. It is not possible, to
embed service calls in view controllers.
    a. Select radio button Use Existent Controller
    b. Do not change the default entry for component: <CC name>
    c. Enter for controller COMPONENTCONTROLLER
    d. Press Continue.
    3. Service Type and Service Selection
    a. You now select, which service type should be used for this service call. Select radio button Function Module. Fill the
    destination here. Press Continue.
    b. Select the service: for Function Module enter <RFC name>. Press Continue.
    4. The Required Methods and Context Elements
On the two subsequent dialog windows, default values are listed for giving names to the context nodes and attributes
required by the service call as well as to the required methods. The proposed names are based on the names of the
embedded service, but you can change them as required. However, heed the respective notes in the corresponding dialog
    box.
    a. Adapt Context: Select from Nodes/Attributes . Press Continue.
    b. Specify Method Name: leave all entries as provided: Component:  Controller: COMPONENTCONTROLLER Method: EXCUTE_ Press Continue.
    5. Completing the Choice
When you have confirmed the last dialog box, the generation is triggered. Afterwards you now have the required methods
and contexts at your disposal for using them within your Web Dynpro component.
or if you want to call directly the use the call statement with destination

  • PR05 Transaction Iview from Abap Webdynpro

    Hi,
From abap webdynpro, on action of one button, i'm calling PR05(Travel Expense Manager) screen by passing the parameters as follows and calling NAVIGATION_ABSOLUTE method:
    BUS_PARAMETER-KEY = 'PTP00-PERNR'.
      BUS_PARAMETER-VALUE = LS_EMPLOYEE_NODE-PERNR.
      Insert BUS_PARAMETER into table BUS_PARAMETER_LIST.
      CLEAR BUS_PARAMETER.
      BUS_PARAMETER-KEY = 'PTP1000-REINR'.
      BUS_PARAMETER-VALUE = LS_HEADER_NODE-REINR.
      Insert BUS_PARAMETER into table BUS_PARAMETER_LIST.
It opens PR05 screen, with the correct employee list, but it does not populate the tripnumber and also it should skip the first screen.
In the IView, i have already given OKCODE='MOD' for change of the trip and also PROCESS_FIRST_SCREEN=YES.
In the business parameter i try to add for selecting the particular line in the table control of the PR05 screen, but that doesn't work.
      BUS_PARAMETER-KEY = 'PTP1000-MARKER(01)'.
      BUS_PARAMETER-VALUE = 'X'.
      Insert BUS_PARAMETER into table BUS_PARAMETER_LIST.
      CLEAR BUS_PARAMETER.
      BUS_PARAMETER-KEY = 'TRIPCHANGEINTERACTIV'.
      BUS_PARAMETER-VALUE = 'X'.
      Insert BUS_PARAMETER into table BUS_PARAMETER_LIST.
So any inputs on how to auto select the line based on the trip number and go directly to particular change trip.

    Hi Alex,
is there no possibility to open the transaction by calling a link? For example like this way:
host, port, system, mandant, user, password, tcode (e.g.: 192.168.100.2:6000:xi?mand=300&user=xyz&passwd=xxx&tcode=se16).
Do anybody other know if there is a possibility doing like this?
