About charging iPhone first time.

I accidentally did not charge my brand new iphone to 100% first time.  Will it affect the battery life?
Waiting for reply.
Thanks.

You can charge an iPhone any time you want, for as long as you want. You can remove it from the adapter before it reaches full charge, and you can leave it connected for as long as is convenient, because there's a smart battery monitor in the phone that will not permit it to be overcharged.
One useful way to manage the battery is to charge the phone overnight, every night, so it is at 100% in the morning. This will get your through the day unless you are a very heavy user (using the phone for more than 6-8 hours a day). If you set up iCloud backup it will also back up automatically over WiFi when connected to the charging adapter at night.

  • Charging for first time: Will Itunes auto sync ?

I'm about to charge a new 4 gHz Nano for the first time , using a Windows XP PC. I will charge it for a few hours in advance of giving it to my son for his birthday tomrrow. One quick question...
We currently have Itunes 7.0 on the PC with two different playlists (his and mine), plus some podcasts of mine. When I plug in the Nano to the PC for the first time, will it just charge the unit of will Itunes automatically launch and sync the existing Itunes music? I'm looking to avoid having my son getting all of my music with the first sync.
    Nano 4Ghz   Windows XP

When you plug the new Nano in for the first time, it will get installed (if it's charged enough)--or, it will just charge until it's ready. Then you'll get boxes with choices. Since you and your son will have different music on your players, it's probably best to choose the manual update option when that screen opens. Once the iPod is charged, with the manual update option selected, you'll be able to choose the playlists/songs you want to load on your son's new Nano.
Happy Birthday to him! I hope he loves his gift!

  • Using wall charger for first time I get error message "charging not supported by this accessory."  Been using since December and not seen this before.

Using wall charger and am now getting error message "charging not supported by this accessory."  Have been using since December and this is first time I have encountered this.

Did you look to see if there is debris or dust causing the problem? Get a flashlight and take a look to make sure.
Is there something in the USB end of the cord perhaps?
You didn't answer this question ....Are you using the charger and cord that came with your iPad?
You could try changing cords if you have another one available to see if it is the cord. Have you tried connecting to your computer to see if you get the same message?
You could try a hard reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. Then try the charger again.

  • My refurbished iPad 3 charged for first time it and charger got very hot is that normal

just replaced my refurbished iPad 3 with another.  Tried to charge it for first time.  Noticed it got very hot and so did charger.  I don't recall my other iPad doing this  is this a defect in the ipad?

    Define "hot".
If fully drained both the battery (that essentially fills up most of the body of the device) and the charger will get quite warm, though not unbearable. Time to charge will vary according to device: my iPad 4 takes about 6 hours if almost flat, but takes about 40 min if at 75%.
Be sure to use ONLY its original charger OR chargers that are rated for iPads. They draw twice the current as phones and will cause phone chargers to get much warmer than usual.

  • Is it ok to charge iphone many times a day?

i always want to have a full battery, is it ok to charge the iphone many times every day(4-5 times)?

No.  you should wear the battery down to 10-20%.   Iphone batteries are designed to charge a limited number of times then they will no longer hold a charge.   Charging so frequently will kill the battery early.

  • New P-book: OK to use while charging for first time?

    Hi All,
I'm getting my Powerbook today. Can I plug it in and set it all up while it's charging, or SHOULD I wait until it's fully charged? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.
    -Mike

No, this will not do any damage. The thing you should do though is after that first charge is complete, go ahead and drain down to zero percent, so that it will be calibrated.
People who leave the battery charged in all the time while using the computer, do not have the battery go bad because they are using it plugged in. The reason it goes bad in that situation is because they aren't keeping the juices flowing in the battery! They don't take it off the A/C, the chemicals don't keep moving, so that shortens the life. That is why you should use a portable, not connected to A/C at least one or two times per week to at least 70 percent (use 25 to 30 percent of battery) or so.
However, the actual using of the machine while connected to A/c is no problem. Just be sure to regularly use it via battery too, to keep the chemicals moving.

  • Question about Charging iPhone 5

Hi I bought an iPhone 5 in New York and the charger does not fit the country where I live (Europe) and my question is it possible to use the charger of the iPhone 4?
Tensions of the charges are the same?
Or should buy an adapter and use the iPhone 5 charger?

Indeed both the output and the input, but I notice that the charge of the iPhone 4 tends to warm up a bit more than necessary, and composing my dishonest trunk of the iPhone 4 iPhone 4 in the past that did not happen.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Connecting iPhone first time

Previously I've used my PC to connect/ download software for my iPhone. Is there any reason why I can't/ shouldn't use our family MacBook Pro to do so going forward? Was wondering if there was an issue using 2 computers with iTunes to backup/ store iPhone information. Thanks.

It's playlists, songs, podcasts, etc. that are stored in the
iTunes folder (not the app), which is located in different places in
Windows vs. OSX.  In OSX, it is located in the users home
directory in the Music folder.  Each user on a computer will have
his or her own.  Not sure where it is in Windows, but probably
a similar, although differenty named path of course, for
    each user.

  • Letting iPhone4 die before charging it full first time out of box?

    Hello!
I just got my second iPhone4 (the first one I had for 6 days but it had some connection issues so I exchanged it) and I was told by the Sales Associate at the cell provider where I purchased it from that I need to let it die completely (power itself off) and then charge it in full (and not touch it while it charges) the first time to "train the battery".
I've been reading similar threads about initial charges but nothing really answers my question.
I've had this phone for about 3 hours and my battery is currently at 18%.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

So there's really no need to run through an entire cycle right now?
Thanks very much, I was a little unsure of why he said that, especially because I've heard iPhone batteries (I just switched to an iPhone from a Blackberrry) don't need to be "trained".

  • What's the best way to charge my iphone 6 for the first time ?

what's the best way to charge my iphone 6 for the first time ?

    Just charge it to 100%.
Use it on the charger when possible. Recharge when the battery is around 50% when possible. Avoid to let the battery go down below 20%.

  • How to charge iphone 5s for the first time?

Hello! I'm picking up my new iphone 5s tomorrow from the shop and I'm wondering how I'm supposed to charge it the first time.
I REALLY don't want to ruin the battery life on my phone considering my iphone 5's battery right now is just terrible. It dies in around 2 hours
So when i take it out of the box and turn it on, should I use all the battery on it right then and set everything up? Or am i supposed to charge it for 8 hours or whatever?

When you take the new iPhone out of the box, assuming you have to activate and setup, plug it in so you do all of the work with a solid power source.  See what the charge level is, and if over 50% don't worry about charging when you are finised with the setup unless you feel like letting it sit and top-up the battery.
You cannot over-charge as the unit has a protection circuit that shuts down the charging when the battery hits 100%.  The battery will trickle down even sitting, and when it gets down to 93-95% charge level, the charging circuit starts up and charges the battery back to 100%.
While some say to drain the battery all the way regularly, that actually is not good for a Lithium-Ion battery...studies show a battery drained to 50% and recharged will have three to four times the life of a battery drained all the way to shutdown regularly.
And keep in mind, batteries are expendable items and will degrade over time with usage.

  • Can i use my iphone while its charging for the first time

i just got the iphone 6. when i turned it on for the first time it had like half battery, i let it fully die and now im charging it for the first time. can i use it while its charging? every phone ive ever had had such a crappy battery life. i wanna finally have a good battery! lol

    Anson Luk wrote:
Hi. Sure, you can use your iPhone when charging (but not always) . Just release your battery under 10% and recharge to 100% once a month, it can be helpful for battery life.
That is actually not considered best practice. Lithium ion batteries should be kept topped up when possible. That was previously recommended to calibrate the battery sensor. It never had any effect on the overall life of the battery.
