About columns

Could any one give in detail about the physical and logical column and aggregate table. when to use these columns. I think aggregate table where aggregation is done in before and used those results by obiee for fast results. I'm little confused with these physical and logical columns.

In physical layer the columns are called as physical columns(direct columns from Datasource)
In Bmm layer the columns are called as logical columns(Here we can create new logical columns and we can give aggreations,naming for those columns)
Agg tables are useful for improving the Performance of the query.These tables are useful for aggregate navigation.Look at this link

To your questions: Why don't you try to read the documentation, in that case maybe Tahiti? Look up 'Alter table' statement as a starter. There you can find the answers specified for your db version, which you did not mention.

I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks. Please forgive me. When i process my cube i'm getting the error:
Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 5.
My question is when the error says column 5 (is it the column 5 in the DSV?) or is it the column 5 in the DIMENSION list?
My next question is the DSV Query works perfectly fine , so why this error in cube? This is what i have in the query in DSV.
Please need help. In the below query both the column 5 (ArEASSIGNED TO VENDOR) in the CUBE and underlying table have the same data type and length VARCHAR(4000). Why is the process failing still?

I just counted the columns from the top:

I see now that your subject line talks about column 6, but you say column 5 in body of your original post.

Hi All,
I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks. Please forgive me. When i process my cube i'm getting the error:

My question is when the error says column 5 (is it the column 5 in the DSV?) or is it the column 5 in the DIMENSION list?
My next question is the DSV Query works perfectly fine , so why this error in cube? This is what i have in the query in DSV.
Please need help. In the below query both the column 5 (ArEASSIGNED TO VENDOR) in the CUBE and underlying table have the same data type and length VARCHAR(4000). Why is the process failing still?

How to get information about PowerPivot options

I was going through the Custom Xml structure present after unzipping a PowerPivot enabled excel file.
My main motive is to extract information pertaining to PowerPivot options present in the Excel File.
It had around 16- 19 Custom Xmls, I had a little confusion and it would be great if you could help me on this :
1. In the workbook.xml.rels file, there is entry for each Cutomxml file. For ex. –
But according to my interpretation, each of these entries must be referenced also. What i mean is that the specific Rel ID i.e. rId30 (for the above entry) must be referred somewhere in the package that is why it is mentioned in the Workbook.xml.rels.

2. I found out that for each table in the PowerPivot window, there is a Custom XML present in the Custom XML’s folder.
But, there are other field also present such as ‘ColumnFormat’, ‘ColumnNegativePattern’, but these are not getting updated whenever I am changing these for any table.
I can get the Column names of the table but how can i find out what Format has been applied to the Column of the tables.
3. Moreover, I found a bunch of Custom XML’s but couldn’t really make sense out of them that what they were pointing to.

It would be highly beneficial if you can help with these namespaces and their interpretation.
4. I understand that majority information is present in the database i.e. Item.data file and also in the Temp folders when the file is opened.
I got through some files present in the Temp Folder and could get my hands on information about Column Format, Formula in case of Calculated Columns. But how do I find out the exact path for the Temp folder every time I open the file.
I could find some paths in the Item.data file in the BackUpFile nodes but those didn’t exist.
So is there is any way by which I can get those paths.
Sorry if the query is a little long, but I am actually stuck with the above questions acting as bottleneck.

First use the Active Cell property and set the row value to -2 to change an entire column. The attached image shows how to set the background color of column 3 to green. I don't understand your comment about column size. It doesn't matter how wide or narrow a column is. Using the Cell Background Color property, the entire cell is colored. If you are having difficulty keeping track of the number of columns, thats a different issue.

Table has too many columns for one pg in InDesign document. How do I force a break?

I have imported an Excel table into my InDesign document. The table is 598 columns wide. Obviously this isn't fitting on one page. I want it to just keep flowing from page to page, keeping one same column at the beginning of each page (like "freeze panes" does in Excel) but it's not doing that. Is this possible in my InDesign document or will I have to manually copy and paste 10 columns at a time, which is about how many are fitting on one page? Any searches I do on this subject just talk about flowing rows but nothing about columns.

As far as I know there's probably no way ID is going to do what you want.
You can place a table across a multiple page spread, but the odds of being able to do that and still keep the file printable are marginal, at best. You can't for example, leave blank space at the gutters unless you are able to add a blank column that spans the gutter, and the limt for multipage spreads is 10 pages wide, whcih doesn't sound like it's probably enough to hold almost 600 columns.
Perhaps placing the table using named ranges of appropriate widths would work...

Tables not expanding across a sidehead+column

I have some tables that I want to go across my column and sidehead for my printed manuals. I have been able to change my EDD/template to place the table anchor in the sidehead and that is working just fine. That's not the problem. The problem is that the tables do not proportionally (or even absolutely) expand to the width of the column+sidehead. The table remains the width of the column, but is in the sidehead leaving a gap in the column. In my ditabase.template.fm file when I insert a table, it spans the sidehead+column. When I save a map as a composite FrameMaker file, the tables are just the width of the column, albeit starting in the sidehead.
At first I thought the issue might be related to colspec or colwidth as in http://forums.adobe.com/message/3906515, but that's not the case.
I am not using DITA-FMx (not yet, Scott), but in my searching I found a mention of a potential FrameMaker bug and I am wondering if I am running into it. It was mentioned here http://docs.leximation.com/dita-fmx/1.1/ditafmx_tables.html. But I believe the issue is specifically an issue about column widths and not column+sidehead widths. Editing out the writer use proportional widths; had no effect on my composite file.
I have pgwide = 1 for my tables. The tables I am looking at are of the type 'table,' not 'choicetable' or 'simpletable,' but those may also be affected. I don't know.
So, other than going through a book/composite FrameMaker file right before I print and manually resizing table widths, what I can I do?

Did as you said and for each subform binding tab made sure I have "Repeat subform for each data item" checkbox and still no change when I add the data.
I even tried to combine the xml data and that file just has the main page and not the data pages. just another problem that is happening.
Any other suggestions on this expanding tables and receive single forms one at a time.

Column Level Security - Grand Total row

Hello All, I have a question about Column Level Security in a report where Grand Total is turned on. I am working inside of the OOTB Paint rpd and I am looking at the 'Finish Sales Trend for Current Year' report on the Brand Analysis dashboard page. Inside of the Admin Tool I added column level security on the Units presentation column in the Sales Measures table. I implemented security that will not allow the Central Region Manager group to view the Units column. When I access the report I noticed that the Grand Total row of the table is slightly skewed because the Units column is hidden. The Grand Total row is showing, however all the results are off by 1 cell.

For eg:
consieder a report with following columns,
Year Product Measure1 Measure2
In this if for measure1 the column level security is enabled (user1 who is not supposed to see the data).
Then grand total value of measure2 will be in the grand total of measure1. (for user1)
When column level security is enabled, that column will be pushed to the end of the table view.
So that it is happening.
By using case statements with groups or users we can get it work without enabling the column level security.

How can i get the column names of the primary keys if i know the CONSTRAINT_NAME, and CONSTRAINT_TYPE = "P" in the user constraints of the table name.

Not as an answer, but as a question: Are there three rows *only* resp. could they be granted? Or you wanna have the amount dynamic, i.e. count the same customers and than created the amount of required columns?

Discoverer9 and EUL column security

I am seeking suggestions to resolve my problem.
We're using OracleApps 11.5.7 + Discoverer9 and installed the BIS views.
Now it is time to create my EUL, works fine.
Then Securing the data... here we go. For the row security, the BIS views uses some packages to check if the current user has access to the data. Good! But what about columns?
Say I have a workbook in Discoverer with 5 columns, one of wich is very private to users under a specific responsibility. How can I maintain one EUL, one set of workbooks, while still using the apps security model but securing the columns? On the apps side, we managed this programming functions in the forms but in discoverer...
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Column headings or labels permanent

To support team: I worked with DB2 for quite awhile and when
creating a table we were able to define column headings using
the label statement. EG: Even though the database name would be
short and undescriptive (acctnbr), whenever you would select the
table the column would appear as the label described it (Account
Number). When referencing the field through sql you would use
acctnbr but whenever the field would display it would show
Account Number as the column heading. This was permanent.
I now work with oracle and I cannot find how to do the same
thing for new tables other than in the select statement which
does display the altered heading but not permanently. I know
about column comments as well but that puts the comments in
another table. I would appreciate any information on this if

As mentioned above you generally don't need to worry about columns being moved but, from the JTable API, this may be what you are looking for:
int convertColumnIndexToModel(int viewColumnIndex)
int convertColumnIndexToView(int modelColumnIndex)
