About Designing

Hi friends,
I am Aakash Kumar, new on adobe forum. As i am new candidate ,i dont know enough info about this site. But i found i can get my answers related to adobe photoshop and designing.
So now coming to main point,
I jusy have couple of questions that i want to ask respectively,
   These are:
       * How can i improve my skills for extra effects on photos. Is there any tutorial i can get?
        * How can i make creative and impressive posters and mainly "LOGOS" ?
        * which versions or products of adobe,  i can use for photos or logos and posters?
reply conveniently. I will be waiting.
Thank you..

welcome aakash!
I would recommend for logos to use Adobe Illustrator. I also use it for my final poster design, and inputting all my type.
Great resources:
and: http://layersmagazine.com/movie-posters-in-adobe-illustrator-cs5.html
For photo "effects", I would search for specific types: landscape, portrait, animals, group, etc. I personally would focus on Julieanne Kost's blog.
http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/
Julieanne often uses Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop together. She has a series on Adobe TV: http://tv.adobe.com/show/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/
goodluck! if you have any questions, feel free to post basic learning questions in the photoshop beginners forum as well: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/photoshop_for_beginners

  • A question about design of Java Application on java card.

    Hi every one,
I have a question about design of Java applet on java card,
There is an application on my card that it is not java card, it include a DF and some EF under DF, I would like to know if I want to have this application on java card ,how can I design DF and EF on java card ,I mean is there any relation between DF,EF with applet and file? for example can I say DF is same as applet and EF is same as file?
I'll appreciate for any help .
    yours sincerely,
    orchid

    hi
you can write a java class for DF.
an instance of DF class have some EF objects.
    for example,
    samples/com/sun/javacard/samples/JavaPurse/CyclicFile.java
    implements ISO 7816 CyclicFile ( EF )

i am doing one Labview project. so my project is about design a interface in labview which one collect the data from keithley 2400 via GPIB connection. any suggestion please

Your first task should be to just be able to send commands to the instrument.  Do as Dennis suggested and download the drivers for the instrument and get familiar with them.  Build up small VIs that do little tasks with those drivers so you can get used to them.  Then worry about your main interface.

  • About design and architecture....

where i can find docs or info about design and architecture of a game ????

You could try Gamasutra.com. They tend to have quite a bit about various aspects of game design and programming. Also, you can check this forum for threads on it. Some people have posted questions about designing either specific games within a genre or just specific games and gotten some great feedback (one thread on game design of recent memory is Clue/Cluedo). GameDev.net has some good programming tutorials and chatter to this end also, I'm sure. Just search on here, on the net, and other places, and I'm sure you'll find something.

  • How SCCM works internally, about design concepts and working principal of ConfigMgr?

    Hi Guys,
Could you please recommend me any sort of data or link which explians
how SCCM works internally, about design concepts and working principal of ConfigMgr.
I have gone through many sites and videos but they only talk about how to work on SCCM with features however they do not talk about
how SCCM works\inner working of ConfigMgr.
    Thanks very much in Advance!
    Regards,
    Chandan

Not really sure what you're looking for here. Not much is explicitly published on the internals and most of what is "known" is anecdotal or based on reverse engineering by the community. There are specific things that have been documented fairly
well, but those are scattered among various blogs. We can potentially address direct questions here in the forums or point you to that info, but there's not much to really direct you to as a single source because it doesn't really exist in general.

  • Conceptual problem about Designer BC4J Generator.

I'm trying to use Designer BC4J Generator in order to prepare a migration of some generated app.
Using that generator I saw it works aon a Module base, that means (I think) for each module it will generate :
    . a project
    . an ApplicationModule
    . some ViewObjects
    . some ViewLinks
    . some Entities
    . some Association.
However the same table is used in many modules but I didn't find any way to force it to reuse the same Entity and Association definitions.
I belive this is wrong because Entities and theri definitions should be present once and only once in order to reuse all user code, validation etc..
    Did I miss something ?
What's the conceptual schema for that Generator ?
    I'm confused.
    Tks.
    Tullio

    Tullio,
Thanks for the feedback. You are correct, each module is generated into a separate package and hence separate EOs are created for the tables usages for each module. If a table is used multiple times in a single module, then one EO is created for that table usage. We are also aware that what you are looking for is very useful functionality and will create an enhancement request for this.
Further experiences you have with the tool will be greatfully received.
    Charly,
With respect to your comment about the generator. There are a great many Designer customers who have large numbers of modules already modeled in Designer, who want to start working with Java and JDeveloper. Indeed I had many requests for such a generator from Designer.
Without the generator to create all the elements, which Tullio lists in his note, these users would need to start building their (BC4J)Application Modules in JDeveloper from scratch. The wizards and tools within JDeveloper are very good and so this not too onerus a task if you are building a few modules. Many of our Designer customers have many modules, with a significant number of module components. The generator reduces the effort of rebuilding these modules. Why repeat the work when all the design decisions are already made?
Currently the generator only builds the business components, leaving the creation of the UI to the users. We have plans to extend the generator capabilities to include the UI.

  • Advice about design required

    Hello all,
I am new with OA Framework development. I have read the Oracle tutorials, but I still have many questions about a best way to design the application. For example we have a fully customized module, kind of Mini MRP, which recommends purchase or sale back stocks of items between 10 different inventory organizations.
Each item has attributes which affect the stock level and reorder point, some of attributes defined on master organization level and others on specific inventory organization level. In addition the are table which contains on hand of item in each organization (mtl_onhand_qty) and table which contains history of usages of the item in each organization. Also item can have previous versions and planning done for whole family ( the item and all it's previous versions)
Now what I need to develop is a screen: user enters an item - and in left frame displayed the tree of family of item, in other frame there is a table of all 10 organizations when the columns are stock of the item in each org, usage of the item in each org,ROP etc.
My question is : how to design entity objects for application like this?
Should I create entity object for Item and another object for item in organization and another one stock of item in organization and for usage etc and to base view objects on those EO, or alternatively another approach - to create one huge view which will contain all the relevant data about the item in organzation ( stock, usage, attributes etc) and to base my EO and VO on this view? Please advice which approach is prefferable....
    Sorry for long post :-)
    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you

I fully agree with what Tapash said, in case of external joins if EOs, even the code given in dev guide does not work....(Tapash correct me if I m wrong...! i remembered struggling with that code.... long time back, I m not sure of they have corrected it in 12i dev guide.) .
But the logic has to be understood that framework understand it to be a update operation instead of insert opeartion ..for the table which does not have the joining key record and joined with external join.
So this concept has to be implemented accordingly. I had scenarios where the query has to had external joins of EOs... so i made VOs based on sinle EOs and joined through VLs instead of going with external join of EOs in VO query, that worked fine.

I would like to know, when you buy a licence Design Standar, this is only for one computer or you can install it on 2?
I'm trying to understand also about volume licence.. This is useful only when you have how much computer? we are going to have maybe a maximum of 6 computer using that suite.
    Thanks!

  • Question about design pattern - business delegate

    hi guys
i have got a question to ask about the delegate pattern. usually, we use it to decouple between presentation client and businessservice tiers. for instance, the service tier has an session ejb, and delegate wrapps the ejb. and the web client calls delegate to access service. is the delegate only used by the presentation tier? within the service tier, we can have many ejbs that work together to get tasks done. do we still use delegates in the service tier? what is ur suggestion? thanks

  • Confused about Designer ES vs full suite...

    Hi,
I've been trying to figure this our myself by researching all of the available documentation, but I am getting very confused by all of the different products, capabilities and installation/deployment requirements.  I need to determine if we need to purchase the full ES suite and establish a J2EE application server on Windows 2003 Server, or can we just use Designer ES on our Windows XP workstations to create PDF forms that our clients can open and modify using Adobe Reader.
For our project (Canadian Government department), we simply want to have dynamic PDF forms that can be populated with data from our Oracle database, and then let the user enter additional information and get this data back into the database.  Also, we would like to do some fairly simple scripting like enabling/disabling form areas depending on data entered by the user.  Sometimes our clients will be connected to our network and sometimes they will not be connected.
I love all of the features that ES can do, I just don't think we're going to be able to get a J2EE application server approved and installed for our project.  This department is Microsoft.NET based and not Java.
What things can be done without involving a J2EE application server?  Can we have dynamic forms and 2-way data exchange?  Can we use Flex to create RIAs (i.e. Form Guides) from our forms that we can deploy to users?
    Thank you in advance,
    Dave

Thank you for the info.  After researching some more, I see there is a new version (ES2) coming available "before the end of 2009":
    http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/200910/AdobeUnveilsLiveCycleEnterp riseSuite2.html
Also, the description of "Designer ES2" seems quite capable of doing what we need:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/designer/capabilities/
I will just have to wait until there is a trial download available to see if we'll require a J2EE server.  I'm hoping we can just have Designer on our XP machines for creating PDF Forms (and maybe Flex form-guide applications), and our clients just need Reader 9 for entering the data and sending them back to us.

  • Questions about  Designer

    Hello,
I am new in this forum and in Oracle Designer also.
I have started to work with Designer last month,
I am learning to use it,
    and I have a question :
    - what is the difference between Template object and object library???? waht ares the uses of both them ?
    - waht is the difference between Designer et Designer headstart?
thanks for your help ans have a good day,

I'll give you my opinion based on my experience...
Templates serves as 'skeletons' of generated forms and reports. You use them to define global appearance and functionalities of the module, but not details like specific item properties.
The object libraries define the details of the generated objects, like items, canvas, windows. Many properties you can't define using templates, but can do using object libraries.
Usually to generate an app you rely on both templates and object libraries, as well on preferences.
I've never used headstart, but I think it's a kind of "add-on" to Designer, with pre-customized templates, object libraries etc (maybe it can be thought as a framework?)

  • Need advice about design approach for query editing tool with JSF

    Hi !
I would like to propose in my application a way to allow end-user to create queries that could be executed on a some tables. I suppose that this kind of stuff is not new and would like to know if someone has to good design practice or example to do this with the JSF technology ?
I think that two approaches is possible:
1/ the user specifies the complete query from the start and get the final result when query is executed in the background
2/ user specifies the query in a interactive way. It specifies one criteria and get the results of it, then on the results specifies another criteria and get new results, then specifies another criteria and so on.
Also for information I use Hibernate as database framework.
Some advice or start of approach will be very appreciated.
    Thanks !
    B.D.

No-one could advice on this ?

  • Please do let me know what do you think about Designer's Digest | Review

    Hi,
I recently changed domain name and logo of Designer's Digest so your feedbacks are ver importent. Please make sure to leave your feedbacks.
    Website url: http://designersdigest.co
    Thanks

    Hi sir,
Know you are asking in a design forum, the first thing I would point out is the logo.
There is pixel errors in it. To fix this try saving it in a better quality.

  • A question about design.

I have a program I wrote using Visual Basic that I use at my church to print a deposit slip for our weekly offerings.  A pretty simple program.  I enter the check information (giver name, check number, amount) or cash and put that data in a list
box.  I also total the cash & check amounts to print on a deposit slip.  One aspect of the program is that I store the name and address of anyone who gives to the church and at the end of the year I print a letter giving them the total of their
offerings throughout the year so they can deduct it on their income tax forms.  The names and address are keep in a simple access database.
Now, I have added the capability to insert the check in a Magtek MICR check reader and using the account number on the check (which I have stored in the database in the same table that holds the names) I can get the name of the person making the contribution
along with the check number.  Then I just enter the amount, hit enter and I'm ready for the next check.
Here is the problem (and it's not a big one): some of our members have two or more checking accounts so I end up with two rows with duplicate information in my database.  My question is should I create another table with the account number and a key
pointing to the member name?  I know, I've been kinda wordy for such a simple question but I really want the views of the members of this forum.
    Thanks in advance.
    Philip

    Philip,
Just thinking out loud. How about having seperate tables for the personal info, account and contribution?? Something like below:
    Person
PersonID, Name, Address and other personal details
    BankAccount
    Account_ID, PersonID, Branch_details etc.
    Donation:
    Donation_ID, Person_ID, Account_ID, Check_Number, Amount, Datetime etc.
So you can have a track of all names and accounts seperately. Now for the contributions, if a person has given two checks each with different bank account, the same can be captured distinctly with the combination of Account, Check and Donation id. The Person_ID
can be removed from the last table if we can assume that each account maps to only one person (eliminating the possibility of shared accounts)
    Thanks,
    Jay
