About oracle forms

hello,
i have created menus in oracle forms using menu editor,now i want to show the created menu in the form while running ,how can i show menu in the form,
reply soon please

save and compile your menu module.
open the property sheet of the form to which you want to attach them menu,
On the "Menu Module" property give the full path of the menu you want to attach.
if the menu is in the same path where your forms modules are then just give the menu module name.

Need information about Oracle Forms & Reports server installation

Hello Friends,
First of all I am very new user for oracle forums, So please ignore if I posted wrong place.
We are using Oracle Database 10g and Oracle forms & Reports server 6i version.
We just purchased oracle forms & reports (currently known as a Oracle Fusion middleware) license. As per my knowledge latest version doesn't support Oracle 10g database.
My question is can somebody give me Oracle Database 10g supported Forms & Reports version?
We are planning to upgrade.
Help would be really appreciated.

I get my answer from your certification matrix. I appreciate your response.
Now second question arise that We are using currently Database version of 10.2.0.1.0.
And in a certification matrix shows supported version Oracle 10.2.0.4+.
Now I am bit confused that currently working database supports or not?
Still i am trying to install on My window 2008 R2 with IIS 7.0.
Let me check what happens.

Could they be more vague? :-) The trouble with the industry now is its fragmenting terribly.

I was surprised to hear it is a widespread opinion that dot net is on its way out and MS is allegedly moving towards
c++ . Must we always be going from one on its way out thing to another? Both java and dot net are very aged. So that leaves "open-source software"? I don't think they have much credibility with that level of vagueness.
I'm thinking javascript is up and coming. That's about the only clear leader technology I see.

Open Oracle Forms app from APEX

How can I open an Oracle Forms application from within APEX?
Right now, the Forms app is accessed simply through a Bookmarked hyperlink, so it seems to me I should be able to open a browser window and send it the same url from within APEX. Can someone provide all the details please? Thank You.

I don't know about Oracle Forms specifically... but you should be able to put a link to any arbitrary URL within your Apex application, and have the browser access that URL.
For instance, you can create a button and set that URL as the button's location, or create a Display-Only item with a default value set to a block of HTML including an <a href> tag.

How to Migrate Oracle Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2

Hi I would like to find information on what is necessary to do in order to migrate Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.
Do I need to use Oracle Migration assistant ?
Is it enough only compile forms ?
Where I find documentation on how to execute this migration. I am only find documentatio to migrate from 6i to 10g, but I need documentation to migrate from Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.

Changing prompt colour in oracle forms 6i to canvas background (solution)

One of the really infuriating things about Oracle Forms 6i (and possibly other versions) is that when you set a visual attribute for a item the prompt, as well ad field, takes that background colour. Seing it is common to have the field background white and the canvas background gray this is a paid. The following procedure sets the background colour for all prompts to the background colour of the canvas the prompts field sites on - i.e. it automaticaly sorts out the problem.

Share JVM on the client using ORACLE Forms on Oracle Application Server 10x

Hi All,
excuse the question, if it's wrong here:
We have a problem running an Oracle Forms Application on an Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.3
Local requirements do not allow multiple JVMs to run on the Client where the Oracle Forms Application is shown.
Is there any neat way to prevent Multiple Instances of a Forms Application to each run a JVM on the client ?
(Issue shows up on windows xp, iexplorer 8, ...)
Any help much appreciated.

Rephrasing...
You have a web server - Oracle Forms.
You want to prevent a user, which is accessing the web server, from opening more than one instance of IE (accessing the web server twice.)
I would suspect that the answer requires support from the web server. And if that is the answer then this becomes a specific question about Oracle Forms (and not a general one about java.)

Oracle Forms Builder 10g release 2 documentation?

I'm trying to locate a book about Oracle Forms Builder 10g release 2. I'm needing a beginner's guide. I've seen the advanced techniques one, but I can't seem to find one for someone that is just starting out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There are a couple of books by Albert Lulushi that will give you the basics you can build upon. These are older books, but the concepts they present are still valid.

Probably more helpful would be some online tutorials. Again, some of these are a little old, but the concepts are still valid for Forms 10g and 11g.

Can any body reveal strategic question about
Oracle Forms and forms in JDeveloper.
I mean somethink like "when should I use what"?
According to Oracle's Internet strategy
Java is a prime concern for development and
here is some misunderstanding for me.
From perspective it is obviously to use JDeveloper.
But for what reason and what prespective should
I start new project with Oracle Forms?

Question 1 - the file will no longer be useable with Reports 10g - you will loose everything.
Question 2 - No, newer versions of Oracle Forms and Reports are not backward compatible with older versions.

On the top right you can see a link to an education course and education material..
There are links to sample code and viewlets - the vewlets are a good place to start.
There are loads of white papers.
You can also download Oracle9i Forms and use the on line help (which it also available on OTN).

Design a Oracle Form

Hi Experts,
I am Atul Ramteke working on oracle apps Technical.
We all know when we want to develop a customize form in oracle apps we use Oracle Forms builder and upload this form to Oracle EBS.
This is one way of doing the customization, But what if i want to create a JSP page, Is there any tool for developing JSP pages, or web pages with e-bussiness suiteR12.1.3?
Is Jdeveloper supports this feature? What about Oracle forms 11g??
Any help would be appreciated??

How use oracle forms with oracle database in a local computer network(client -server homogenious network)

Hello experts,
                     I am new in Oracle forms.I am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic server 10.3.5 and oracle database 11g at windows 7 platform.
I want to call my oracle forms(main login form) from different computers(windows7) connected in a local network.My oracle database is installed in a server computer.I am not talking about oracle forms hosting in internet.I want to deploy oracle forms in a local computer network connected via LAN cable or wi-fi.

In most cases you can copy the same entry found in the tnsnames.ora file used by the database. In the database home, the file can be found in \network\admin. Open the file and you should find something like this:
yourAlias =
(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.100)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
So in the above, you would need to set the alias (this can be anything you like), the IP address or hostname of the machine where the database is running, the port number used by the db listener, and the service name used by the db. Most of this will already be set for you if you are copying from the database tnsnames.ora. So you should be able to just copy and paste. More information about the tnsnames.ora file can be found in the db documentation:

Oracle Forms Future

Does anyone know about Oracle Forms Future like is going to stay or go away? I don't see many jobs for Oracle Forms developer.

Per the current INFORMATIONWEEK issue, one survey said:
Pay for application development and programming skills has increased about 4% in the past year--and pay specifically for rapid application development and extreme programming skills has jumped about 9% over the last six months, Foote (president of Foote Partner co.) says.
Also driving up pay for application development is the fact that many companies that sent development work offshore in recent years haven't realized the savings they expected. "Offshoring has gotten a black eye. Half the companies who did it didn't get the numbers they thought," he says.
If considering the RAD, forms/reports is good one. As with CELL chip floods the industry as well as the new optical fiber network, then the forms/report application may run fast if it can survive to that time.

I am not able to view Forms Server version in Help: About Oracle Applications after the forms upgrade 10.1.2.3.0 after the forms upgrade 10.1.2.3.0 as per note:Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports to 10.1.2.3 (437878.1)
Java/jre upgraded to 1.7.0.45 and JAR files regenerated(without force option). Able to opne forms without any issues.
