About SLD

HI, This is silpa.
i want information about SLD.And what is system products and components, technical systems and business systems.if any bady knows please farword  me.

Hi Silpa,
want information about SLD.And what is system products and components, technical systems and business systems?
Good Document for u r requirement download this document .....
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d46b9b90-0201-0010-ef92-9964c1bc98e1
what is a Technical System? why is it created?
Technical system is a phisical machine, it have a IP. Can be a BBDD, ERP, J2EE ......... a Business System is a logical term that we use into the Business Scenarios and represent these Technical System that we had created.
In the SLD, you have SAP server details as a Technical system . Then Business System is created for this.
Registering a new technical system in SLD - ABAP based
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/10/registering-a-new-technical-system-in-sld--abap-based
what is a Logical System? why we create it while creating of Business System?
-->In SAP terms, a logical system is a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between logical systems.
Logical system is created in the SLD. For e.g you are posting an Idoc.
what is a Business system? What is use of creating it?
Business System have an entry in the SLD and Buiness Service do not.
Business Systems are used when you are sending data to and from an R3 system and can be of ABAP, JAVA and Third Party Types.
Business System is a logical representation of a Technical System.
Business Service is a abstract representation of a System. For instance, www.google.com have a several system working together and IPs of this machines change eventually. When we use a Business Services like google we reference a computer that we don't know the phisical implementation.
why we maintain a Logical system name?
--> Logical system is maintained to communicate with different systems under the distribution model of ALE Layer.
This is the official Training Material, it will not be possible to get it as direct..you need to approach any of the training Institute.

  • Queries about SLD transport

    Hi Forum,
want to know something about SLD transport,
    1. If i transport a TS from one SLD to another, will it also automatically transport all products and software components refered by this TS,
    2. If the products and Software component refered by this TS, are already present in the second SLD, will it update the software components,
    3. If i transport a software component, that is already present in the other SLD, will it update it (overwrite it),
    pls help

    Hi,
    1. If i transport a TS from one SLD to another, will it also automatically transport all products and software components refered by this TS,
    >
Irrespective of whether you have a Common SLD or Different SLD's , you need not create the SWCV manually in your SLD. When you transport the SWCV and import it into your new IR, the corresponding entries will happen in SLD.
In CMS transport, you could select the individual object or namesapce or all software component to be transported.
    refer below links for CMS

In your source system,. say tool--> Export --> using file system and then select your SWCV. The exported TPZ file wll be placed in the EXPORT directory of your server.
Now, copy this TPZ file into the import directory of your new server and then tolls --> import.
For the export and import directories, XI Homepage --> Administration --> General Information.,
    2. If the products and Software component refered by this TS, are already present in the second SLD,
will it update the software components
---> Hi yes it will update the existing Software component refered by TS. No need to create another one.
    While transporting the modified object
Refer CMS links mentioned above. Here you could select the individual object or namesapce or all software component to be transported.
    3. If i transport a software component, that is already present in the other SLD, will it update it
    (overwrite it),
--> It depends upon the object you are transporting. For e.g if you have transported the whole software component then the existing will be overwrite. Or if you add individual object or namspace then only that part will be overwritten.
Here you have option in CMS transport to mentioned, if you wish to delete any object, then jsut delete it from development SDL i.r. IR or ID and transport deleted object to Qu. you will get that option in CMS.
    Thanks

    1. What is a product?
    2. What is a system component?
    3. what is a Technical System?
    4. What is a Business System?
could u brief about all of them?
and SXMB_IFR components also like SLD, Integration Builder and Monitoring...

    Hi,
Software Component: Represents a collection of all versions of a software component.Software components represent the reusable modules of a product. They can beupgraded or have patches installed.
Software Component Version: Represents a particular version of a software
    component.
All design works in IR is organized by Software Component Version. This make sense, as interfaces logically belongs to a software component and to a particular version. Before development can begin, the software component versions(SWCVs) must be imported from the SLD to IR.
    Product:
A software product is composed of one or more software components.
It represents a collection of all versions of a product. A product is a unit that
can be delivered, is visible to the customer, and that is installable and renewable.

  • About SLD & multiple SLD

    Hi,
what are the advantages of SLD and multiple SLD?.

    Hi,
SLD (system Landscape Directory) is a central repository of information about systems and software in the data center.
so talking about the working of an SLD, here if any information is required for the integration server regarding the systems(logical or physical) and the software (installed products) it refers to the SLD. To tell you about the other features it has....it captures the dimensions of the system landscape like solution dimension, transport dimension and technical dimension. we assign a technical system to a business system to help the SLD make the appropriate association. The software products used by the business system are got from the technical system definition.
    This might help you

  • A question about SLD

    Hi Experts,
When i trying to deploy application using RFC the following error appears...
There is some thing missing in the properties of 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST or SLD in step 4.2 (Msg. Server) when Create new JCo Destination, The System Name and Logon Group is none .I think i make some mistakes. But what should do ?

    hi cheng
    go to t-code SMLG.
Most probably, there Logon Group is <blank>.
    Create a logon group there.
    Now go to t-code RZ70
and start the SLD Data Collector.
now you can create the JCo connection in the SLD.

  • Question about SLD, j2ee and solman

for the implementation aspects of solman 4.0, i.e. roadmaps, project planning, etc....do you need to have the j2ee and SLD configured for this?  Currently my j2ee engine is hung. It never gets past the "starting application" part.
    1|server0             |J2EE Server         |   23028|Starting application
State of JControl : Some processes running
State inside MS   : Some processes running
    Thnx!!

    Hello Drew,
For the implementation escenarios you don´t need to have the J2EE up.
For opening connections and maybe for Service Desk scenario you need to have the J2EE up and running.
If SLD is not running in SMSY ensure that the system defined has the entry Data source "system RFC"
For the Solman diagnostic of course you need the J2EE .
Check in the std_* log of work directory what is the problem with the J2EE,
you only need to look in most update files for "error" entry and search for the error

  • Doubts about SLD

    Hi ,Experts:
As you know ,SLD is a server runing on J2EE engine. and i have to set the parameter in J2EE(Data Suplier)in order to send data changed to SLD server (Bridge),right?
my first doubt is that , why I don't need do the same job (set parameters for connection to SLD server )in ABAP engine(also should be a Suplier i think )?
the second is , Why i found some ROLEs with the prefix SLD_***  and tcode such as R270,SLDCHECK  and so on in ABAP stack , what's that ?  in my pointview , ABAP is just a DATA SUPLIER for SLD server. What's the exactly relationship between ABAP and SLD server ???

    Hi,
yes, you'll have to do the same job in ABAP; just use transaction RZ70, which does (more or less) the same as "SLD Data Supplier" in Java systems.
For more information, follow this link (Chapter 4.1):

  • About SLD configuration

    Hello experts,
Both of our EP and PI system had installed a local SLD, and both of them need connect to ERP.
But in ERP, the SLD configuratoin can only link to one SLD system , it cann't link to 2 SLD systems at the same time .
As we know, RFC destination SAPSLDAPI , transaction RZ70, can only set to one system;transaction SLDAPICUST must set 1 master system.
Is there a solution to make ERP link to EP SLD and PI SLD  at the same time ?
Or the other solution to solve the problem EP and PI need to link to ERP at the same time ?
    Thank you !
    Best Regards,
    Louis

    Louis,
There may be situations where you need more than one SLD in your system landscape. SAP recommend that you build and maintain a runtime SLD (perhaps located on your production PI system) and a design time SLD (perhaps located in your development PI system), so that the production SLD was not exposed to development changes, for example.
As data suppliers, all systems in your landscape would supply their landscape information (ABAP stack via RZ70; Java stack via SLD Data Supplier service) to the runtime SLD. So that developers could have visibility of the whole landscape, the runtime SLD can be set to automatically forward its technical landscape information to the design time SLD, in what is known as SLD synchronisation.
In addition to the runtime and design time SLD, you can also manage local SLDs. You may need to do this for a Java application that uses WebDynpro JCO connections and you don't want these to be reliant on the runtime SLD. This local SLD could also be set to automatically receive technical landscape data from the runtime SLD. In this case, the Java application becomes a client of its local SLD (for the JCO connections) but a data supplier to the runtime SLD.
Take a look at the [System Landscape Directory Planning Guide|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0a1a8fb-0527-2a10-f781-8b67eab16582] for a good detailed discussion on SLD topology.

  • Development and Production SLDs

We have completed Development and testing of XI objects and are at a stage to transport the objects to Production. We have two SLDs for XI, one for Non-productive systems and another for the Prod system. As regards to SLD entries for transport to Production, I though the following is the process
    1.     Create Production Business systems in DEV-SLD  putting them in the right Business group
    2.     Export DEV-SLD entries
    3.     Import the  file into PROD-SLD
    4.     After go-live only delta SLD entries would be exported and imported into PROD-SLD
In the following Weblog, /people/sap.india5/blog/2005/11/03/xi-software-logistics-1-sld-preparation, Yuvaraj talked about SLD data supplier bridge  from Dev SLD to Production SLD. Is this absolutely necessary?  With the bridge operating, what happens if  somebody deletes a business system by mistake in Dev SLD?
Any inputs would be appreciated and rewarded

    Bhavesh,
<i>My reason for not having prod entries on Dev SLD is that if Prod Entries are going to be on dev SLD, then why have a separate SLD for Prod itself?</i>
My logic for this would be during development, create all the Production Business Systems in DEV-SLD and transport them  to PROD-SLD. At runtime system uses Prodcution-SLD. I guess the differernce is design time vs Runtime.
<i>But once again, SAP recommends a single SLD and so when the landscape contains multiple SLD's there are no rules on how to go about this and so either way things will work fine :-)</i>
SAP's recommendations seem to have changed off late. Though in online help they have again and again mentioned that <b>one SLD</b> is recommended, I do know that some internal SAP Consultants recommending separate SLDs for non-productive and productive purposes. There are also documents on Service market place providing information on how to set-up two SLDs for productive and non-productive purposes.

  • Option "No SLD Destination"

    Hi,
I need some clarification according to following situation:
On one machine (A) I have installed SAP NetWeaver, Development Subscription, with double stack engines ABAP+Java and all possible usage types. On this machine I have configured a SLD (CEN) and it is running.
On another machine (B) I have diverse other SAP Trials (NSP, J2E, and CE1), they all are using a local SLD.
Now I have installed successfully one further system, a developer workplace including a Java instance and the developer studio on (B). During installation - in phase: parameter settings - I decided SLD-oriented to use the option "No SLD Destination" because I read that there had been given different changes to CTS and SLD since release SAP NW 7.0 SPS13. So I do not want to mix the 'older' SAP versions SLD with the new system, because I want to activate the usage of NWDI (installed on (A) ) via the developer studio.
Luckyly, I found the Wiki of Christian Haarmann who describes the very hard way to post-install a SLD when you have decided yourself to use the option "No SLD Destination".
WIKI: "Walkthrough Installation of SAP NetWeaver Trial and ESS Business Packages"
But he does the way, when all components are on the same machine...
Would it the right way to start post-installation of SLD with his third step: running NWA_03_Creating a connection to the SLD... and to give here the connection data of my central system with the user who is known on that server (A). If so, must this user also known with my machine which I want to use for test development (B)? Reading the newest documents about SLD and looking to the messages during the installation process, I understood that the software components being installed on the development system need no local SLD.
Before I am bollixing up my server machine I need some help and advice from you, the experts, to come clear with this situation.
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards
    Christian

  • SLD Dependency,

    Hi All,
I Have one question, please give me Replay with brief Explanation.
    Question is:
    What is the SLD Dependency….
What is relation between Product, Software Components, Technical System and Business Systems?
    Thanks And Regards
    Reddy,

    Hi,
    <u><b>SLD:</b></u>
The System Landscape Directory of SAP NetWeaver (SLD) serves as a central information repository for your system landscape. A system landscape consists of a number of hardware and software components that depend on each other with regard to installation, software updates, and demands on interfaces.
    - so talking about the working of an SLD, here if any information is required for the integration server regarding the systems(logical or physical) and the software (installed products) it refers to the SLD.
    - to tell you about the other features it has....it captures the dimensions of the system landscape like solution dimension, transport dimension and technical dimension.
    - putting it in short XI IS A CLIENT OF SLD
Also go thru this link and understand more about SLD <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/31/f0ff69551e4f259fdad799a229363e/frameset.htm">System Landscape Directory</a>
    <u>
    <b>SOFTWARE CATALOG:</b></u>
The SLD contains a Software Catalog of all installable SAP products and software components. The Software Catalog includes information about support packages and dependencies between the products and software components. This information is the basis for the description of the system landscape.
Also go thru this link and understand more about Software Catalog <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a2/2999ef97ea2b4790165f9ca5c05c41/content.htm">Software Catalog</a>
<u><b>TECHNICAL SYSTEM, BUSINESS SYSTEMS, SOFTWARE PRODUCTS:</b></u>
Technical system correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed
Or in other words Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape.
    - they are actually the basis for defining the business systems.
    - we assign a technical system to a business system to help the SLD make the appropriate association.
    - the software products used by the business system are got from the technical system definition.
    - to note 1 technical system can have more than one business system assigned to it....and as told the SLD make the appropriate association between them.
Also go thru this link and understand more about each of it:
