About System function

Hi~
let me ask you something.
I want to get some information about users. so, I tri to
use cfuntion 'ThUsrInfo'.
I found some example like this.
data: begin of list occurs 0.
        include structure uinfo.
data: end   of list.
call 'ThUsrInfo' id 'OPCODE' field opcode_list
                 id 'TAB'    field list-*sys*.
would you explain how to use this. and
what does "list-sys" mean? when I look at the structure
list... there is no field like that~~

Okay...got that...but I would still recommend that you use the FM(s).
Coming to your question, I hope this answer will be satisfactory...
CALL 'ThUsrInfo' ID 'OPCODE' FIELD OPCODE
                 ID 'TAB' FIELD USR_TABL-*SYS*.
The above statement, as you know is a direct call to the SAP Kernel. There will be a Function that is written in C somewhere deep inside the kernel and the above statement is going to call that function and get you the result.
Now, if you have consider the part <b>ID 'TAB' FIELD USR_TABL-SYS</b>, USR_TABL is a tables parameter for a function module in this case. So USR_TABL itself actually stands for the header line of the table.
But the C function that you are calling is going to return you a <i>table</i> of users. So you will have to specify a table in your C-Call too.
Normally, you will refer to the table part as <b>USR_TABL[]</b>. And here, that works equally well. In fact, in your own program, you can actually replace USR_TABL-SYS with USR_TABL[].
USR_TABL-SYS is just another way of referring to the body of an internal table, exclusively for the purposes of the C-Function call. You can see some other examples like :
CALL 'ThSysInfo' ID 'OPCODE'      FIELD OPCODE_SEND_ADM_MSG
                   ID 'LEVEL'       FIELD ILEVEL
                   ID 'SEND_MODE'   FIELD SEND_MODE
                   ID 'SERVER_NAME' FIELD SERVER_NAME
                   ID 'TYPES'       FIELD SERVER_TYPES
                   ID 'WAIT'        FIELD WAIT
                   ID 'REQ_TBL'     FIELD IN_DATA-*SYS*
                   ID 'RSP_TBL'     FIELD OUT_DATA-*SYS*.
You do not find it documented  because it is not supposed to be used by a programmer. Personally, I had done some research some time back (when I got the same doubt as you have got now) and have shared with you what I found.

Anand Mandalika.

    Hi,
    <u><b>CALL - Call a System Function:</b></u>
    <b>Note</b>
This statement is for internal use only.
It cannot be used in application programs.
As of Release 6.20, you should use Kernel Methods instead of system functions.
    <b>Syntax</b>
    CALL cfunc.
    Addition:
... ID id1 FIELD f1 ... ID idn FIELD fn
    <b>Effect</b>
Calls the system function cfunc. The relevant function must exist in the file sapactab.h. If you change or recreate a function, you have to compile and link the SAP kernel again. For this, you need the C source code files.
Normally, external programs should be called by RFC with CALL FUNCTION ... DESTINATION.
    <b>Addition</b>
... ID id1 FIELD f1 ... ID idn FIELD fn
    <b>Effect</b>
Passes fields to the called program by reference. With "ID id1", you specify the name of a formal parameter, and with "FIELD f1" the relevant field from the ABAP/4 program. If a formal parameter expects an internal table, the latter is passed in the form "FIELD tab[]".
    Example
    DATA RESULT(8).
CALL 'MULTIPLY' ID 'P1'  FIELD '9999'
                    ID 'P2'  FIELD '9999'
                    ID 'RES' FIELD RESULT.
    <b>Note</b>
With some critical C functions, the system automatically performs an authorization check. If the user does not have the appropriate authorization, a runtime error occurs. You can check the authorization with the function module AUTHORITY_CHECK_C_FUNCTION.
    <b>Exceptions</b>
    Non-Catchable Exceptions
Cause: You do not have the authorization to call this C function.
    Runtime Error: CALL_C_FUNCTION_NO_AUTHORITY
Cause: The system function specified is unknown.
    Runtime Error: CALL_C_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND
Cause: The system function SYSTEM is deactivated (in CALL 'SYSTEM')
    Runtime Error: CALL_SYSTEM_DISABLED

  • System table that stores info about any function module

    Hi All,
I know that table TFDIR stores primary information about any function module.
Could anyone tell me where the code of that function module gets stored in?
Also.. If I want to write an ABAP code to read the function module code then what is the best possible solution?
I want to read a function module code if that contains specific string.
Can anyone help me  with that?
Thanks in advace and any answer will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Jignesh

    Hi Jignseh,
The codes are not stored in any table, they are stored as cluster.
To read the code, you can use READ REPORT.
But there you must provide the Include Name
For Example , If you want to read the code of READ_TEXT,
    READ REPORT 'LSTXDU01'.
You can get this include name inside include LSTXDUXX
Use "GET_INCLUDES" to get all include names

  • NEED INFORMATION ABOUT "MAX_TEST" FUNCTION MODULE

    HI ABAPERS,
I need information about "MAX_TEST" function module . this function module is used in 4.6 version , now system have been shifted to 6.0.....here in 6.0 version this function module is not prasent.can any one tell me which new function module we can use in place of this function module, without changing the functionality........
             Thanks in advance
    regards,
    SUNIL

The module is not very sophisticated. Profficiency in Java or ABAP will be a great bonus here. There are plenty of good materials regarding XI on SDN. I suggest to start with step-by-step guides and master all basic integration scenarios
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/Step-by-Step+Guides
Opportunities in industry are not bad also, cause PI is rather popular among customers. The best thing is that it fits any type of customer's business. Integration is demanded almost everywhere.

  • SYSTEM function on C++

    All,
    Appologize for posting non-oracle stuffs.
We are running a job which will prepare a report through oracle and will be mailed to user groups throgh an executable program which was written on C++.
We're facing an issue with sychronization.
C++ invoking KSH program using SYSTEM function, but we found the C++ and KSH program are not synchronized. Hence we're facing some issue while sending the mail.
Is there any other/best method to invoke KSH program from C++.

  • Question about the function module (RFC_READ_TABLE)

    Dear everyone
Could I ask you a question about the function module (RFC_READ_TABLE)?
I was asked if it's possible to create a report which compares the data between different SAP systems (both production systems).
Now, the easiest way would be to use the function module (RFC_READ_TABLE) within a SAP infoset query (SQ01 type query).
But I heard the rumor that using the function module (RFC_READ_TABLE) is not advisable due to the security reason.
However, I am not exactly sure what sort of security problems this function module can possibly have...
Would you help me on this?
I also would like to know if using "remote enabled module" type function module can always overcome this possible security issue.
Or, are there any points that I need to be careful about even when I use "remote enabled module" function module?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Takashi

    Dear Fred-san
Thank you very much for your support on this.
But, may I double check about what you mentioned above?
So, what you were mentioning was that if some user executes the query with
the function module (RFC_READ_TABLE), under the following conditions, he can access to
the HR data even when he does not have the authorizations for HR transactions?
    <Conditions>
    1. the user has the authorization for HR database tables themselves
    2. RFC_READ_TABLE is called to retrieve the data from HR database
    <example>
    Data: LF_HR_TABLE like  DD02L-TABNAME value 'PA0000'.
    CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_READ_TABLE'
       EXPORTING
        query_table                = LF_HR_TABLE
      TABLES
       OPTIONS                    =
       fields                     =
       data                       =    .
But then, as long as we call this function module for a non-critical tables such as
VBAP (sales order) or EKKO (purchase order) within our query, it wouldn't seem to be
so security risk to use RFC_READ_TABLE...
Besides, each query (infoset query) has got the concept of user groups, which limits
the access to the queries within the user group.
※If someone does not belong to the user group, he cannot execute the queries within that
       user group, etc
So, my feeling is that even infoset queries does have authorization concept...
Would you give me your thought on this?
I also thank you for your information for SCU0.
    That is an interesting transaction
    Kind regards,
    Takashi

  • CSA - Access system functions?

Can anyone else post any examples of times they needed to make an exception for allowing a certain application to access system functions? I keep getting several trips of the rule for accessing system functions, and I'm sure there is no attack or spyware on the machine. The only event I can manually replicate is when Windows Media Player tries to access license files online ("CreateThread").
Just curious to see if anyone else has had to build an exception or allow rule for accessing system functions.

it might help to explain the context of why I'm trying to do this too, so here goes all...
I've seen several event logs where Rule 886 was tripped. Rule 886 is a System API rule in the General Application Permissions - all security levels rule module. The details of the rule are that it queries the user whenever a Network Application, MS explorer, rundll32.exe, or any media application, tries to "access system functions from code executing in data or stack space", which is listed under Atypical system behavior.
Most of these events occur late at night, and appear to be something dealing with updates or spyware scans. I haven't yet been able to isolate or replicate those. The only time I've been able to manually trip this rule is when Windows Media Player attempts to download license files for a CD/song, it will access "CreateThread" system function.
Now, the reason I'm worried about this is that end users are going to throw up their hands at the query, which says "Application xxxxx.exe is attempting to access System Function zzzzz. Would you like to allow this?". They're going to either have no idea what to do and call the Helpdesk or they're going to take a guess at what to do and could cause something bad.

  • Documentation about this function module

ineed Documentation about this function module RP_ANSAL_FROM_PERNR

    Hi Avinash,
Have a look at the function group program documentation. It gives an idea of what the function module does.
    Short text
    Annual Salary Functionality (ANSAL)
    Description
This function group contains different functionality for calculating the annual salary, and calculating a period salary from the annual salary.
The function group evaluates different tables and features:
    Tables
T503      defines whether an employee is paid on an
              hourly basis or per period
    T510W     defines the time unit
T511      determines the relevant module from the annual
              salary wage type, rounding, etc.
T539J     defines the valid wage types for calculating
              the annual salary
    Features
ANSAL     defines the annual salary wage type
PFREQ     number of periods per year
    Old U510F -> use T510F ?
    Thanks
    Lakshman

  • Info regarding a system function

    Hi all,
Can any one explain me what the system function 'C_RSTS_WRITE' does if it is called like this in the program
    call 'C_RSTS_WRITE'
         ID 'HANDLE' field field1
         ID 'BUFF' field field2
         ID 'RC' field field3
         ID 'ERRMSG' field field4.
    Regards,
    Asha

CALL - Call a System Function
    Note
This statement is for internal use only.
Incompatible changes or further developments may occur at any time without warning or notice.
    Basic form 8
    CALL cfunc.
    Addition:
... ID id1 FIELD f1 ... ID idn FIELD fn
    Effect
Calls the system function cfunc. The relevant function must exist in the file sapactab.h. If you change or recreate a function, you have to compile and link the SAP kernel again. For this, you need the C source code files.
Normally, external programs should be called by RFC with CALL FUNCTION ... DESTINATION.
    Addition
... ID id1 FIELD f1 ... ID idn FIELD fn
    Effect
Passes fields to the called program by reference. With "ID id1", you specify the name of a formal parameter, and with "FIELD f1" the relevant field from the ABAP/4 program. If a formal parameter expects an internal table, the latter is passed in the form "FIELD tab[]".
    Example
    DATA RESULT(8).
CALL 'MULTIPLY' ID 'P1' FIELD '9999'
    ID 'P2' FIELD '9999'
    ID 'RES' FIELD RESULT.
    Note
With some critical C functions, the system automatically performs an authorization check. If the user does not have the appropriate authorization, a runtime error occurs. You can check the authorization with the function module AUTHORITY_CHECK_C_FUNCTION.
    Note
    Runtime errors:
    CALL_C_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND: Specified system function unknown.
CALL_C_FUNCTION_NO_AUTHORITY: No authorization to call this C function.
CALL_SYSTEM-DISABLED: The system function SYSTEM is disabled (with CALL 'SYSTEM').

  • What is a System Function / Kernel Routines

    Hi All,
Can anyone let me know what is a "Sytem Function" or "Kernel Routines", Where can i check the code behind system function, Is the coding done in ABAP or C, Where can I get the list of all available system functions.
    Regards,
    Simin Raveendran.

These functions are routines that are implemented inside of the kernel code. They are usually implemented in C. Use Google to find a list of all system functions.
