About the command 'HOST'

My environment: Oracle Workgroup Server for Windows NT (Version
7.3.4)
Can anyone, who can connect the Oracle database with a legal db
account through the SQL*Plus, run the command ‘HOST’ normally?
How to limit the usage of command ‘HOST’?
Thanks!

You can prevent the HOST command being used by inserting an
appropriate record into the product_user_profile table.

  • Want to learn more about the command line for Mac OS X

Hi, I'm kind of new here...I've been using my MacBook since last summer, however I want to really get a feel of the command line and would like some recommendations on how to learn more about it.
Looks like it is based off of BSD, and I've been using Linux for about 10 years now and also have a CompTIA Linux+ cert, however some of the commands aren't the same.
So, if anyone can post some websites/recommendations that would be great.
    thanks

Buy any one or more of the many books available at Amazon.com about Unix under OS X. Linux and Unix are related but not the same. Even FreeBSD Unix is not the same as what's implemented under the OS X hood.
And you will find other good books at PeachPit.com.
There also is a separate Unix forum here.

  • Question about the command "ip unnumberd loopback0"

    Hello there!
Could you share your experience with me?
When I access to RAS from my PC through dialup connection, I get ip addresses of my ppp interface and nexthop.
I wanted to know how the process was going on in the RAS. So I checked the configuration on the cisco web site.
    interface loopback 0
    ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
    interface async1
    ip unnumbered loopback 0
peer default ip address pool asyncpool
    router eigrp 100
    network 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
    network 10.1.0.0 0.0.255.255
ip local pool asyncpool 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.254
From the above, the RAS is configured for both async interface on RAS side and loopback interface to be assigned the same ip address as well as the two networks (async ppp and loopback) belong to the same ip network subnet.
What's happening in the routing table of the RAS? How can the two different interfaces have the same ip address?
I don't have any RAS. I can't check them out. Please help me with some advice.

    Thanks for your input!
Could you help me one more?
When the command "peer defaul ip address pool ciscopool" is configured on an async interface of RAS, which protocol is actually resposible for delivering an ip address to a client PC?
I guess it could be ppp because there is no alternative. If it is ppp, which field of ppp packet is for the delivery function? I've never heard of this function in ppp.
    Thanks!

  • About the command summary in datasheet

I'm trying to build a driver for a laser by using Labview.
attached is the application note. the related command summary begins in page 11.
I want to scan the frequency of the laser and plot the power of each frequency. can anyone tell me which commands to use?

My rule of thumb for making instrument drivers is to first figure out what you would do manually to set up the instrument.  Write down each and every step you do.  Then go digging into the manual for the command that does each of those steps.  Unless you truely understand the instrument, it is next to impossible to write a driver for it.

  • I want to delete a wireless entry in Keychain from the command line - how?

We have 800+ laptops that have a wireless that we want deleted from the stations keychain. The ssid is called "campus".
I would like to know how to using command line delete the campus entry. I have been playing with the security command, but cannot seem to delete the keychain entry.
    Any suggestions?

"Everything I know about the command is in the man page. I can't give you a literal command, because I don't know what to put in for the arguments. To be honest, if the man page is not understandable enough for you to build the command, I don't think you should use it at all. Use Profile Manager in OS X Server, which is the right way to do what you're trying to do."
I do not know why this post did not show up here on the thread, I did get the email. Not sure how to respond. We have 800 stations. Can not go and touch each one, so looking for a command line to remove the ssid "campus" - If I read your message correct, you do not know the command line either for this. Thank you.

  • Where are the commands?

I am just starting with my new Flash CS4 and I'm confused about the Commands menu. I want to create a slide show, and all the instruction that I've read say to start by clicking on Commands->Create Slideshow. But when I look in the commands menu, I don't see "Create Slideshow" or much of anything else, either. Where is Create Slideshow? This is the very first time I've used Flash CS4, so there may be some setup necessary to make the command(s) available, but I don't see anything like that in the instructions that I've found so far. Where is "Create Slideshow"?
    Thanks for your help,

I still can't figure this out. This is probably a simple newby issue, but what is the Flash CS4 Commands menu supposed to contain on installation? Might I need to install something else to populate it with the "Make Slideshow". All the information that I've seen online seems to imply that it's part of the initial installation.
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me on this.

  • How can I access the savestore.js contents if the command about:sessionrestore shows a blank box even for already succesfully used backups?

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How can I access the savestore.js contents if the command about:sessionrestore shows a blank box even for already succesfully used backups?
Is there a recent known problem with the about:sessionrestore command or is there any other way understandable to Firefox 29.0.1 through which recover the information stored in the sessionstore.js files.
It seems the command about:sessionrestore is not capable anymore to read the contents of the sessionstore.js file present in the user profile folder.
The box where windows and tabs should be listed is empty.
I tried to paste a few old sessionstore.js files in the user directory while the firefox.exe process was not active, then opened Firefox again and tried to launch the about:sessionrestore command without any result.
I think the files are not corrupted because I used most of them in other occasions and I stored them in folders not connected to the common use of any process.
Also, I already successfully used the about:sessionrestore command in Firefox 29.0.1 in a few other occasions.
I did a "clean reinstall" of Firefox 29.0.1 and the box contained in the tab where about:sessionrestore is executed is still empty even if the files themselves contain such information as tabs location and html addresses.
After this I recovered the profile data I had stored in another folder and this is what you can see attached to this question.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I select the "show my windows and tabs from last time" option in the startup settings the contents of any savestore.js file i paste in the user profile folder are opened without any problem.
still, the box in the tab loaded by the about:sessionrestore command is blank and empty, so it's not possible to "de-select" any window or tab. it's necessary to find an editor to modify session backup files which may contain "bad addresses".
does such an editor already exists?

  • How can I execute a command inside of a VM client from the VM host?

    Hi!

If you wanted the pings to run in parallel, you could have this applet configure another applet to do the pinging, then remove it on the last run.  This will require an amount of programmatic logic, though.  If you wanted to keep things a bit simpler, add another applet that runs at 22:00 that configures a watchdog pinging applet, then a third applet that runs at 22:10 that removes the pinging applet.
When it comes to embedded quotes when you configure your nested pinging applet, you'll need to use $q to stand for the embedded quotes.  You'll also need to configure:

  • A question about the SPOOL command in sqlplus

    Dear all,
I have a question about the SPOOL Command and I would appreciate if you could kindly give me a hand. Consider the following sql script.
    SPOOL result.txt
    SELECT * FROM mytable;
SPOOL OFF;This works pretty well, and the whole content of the table "mytable" is exported to the text file "result.txt". However, sqlplus prints also the number of lines
printed after each query. As a result, after running this script, at the end of the file, I have always a line like
"20541 lines returned"How can I avoid this line (the number of returned lines) in my result file?
    Thanks in advance,

hi, you can use the sys_context function, like this:
    select sys_context('userenv','current_user'),
         sys_context('userenv','os_user'),
         sys_context('userenv','host'),
         sys_context('userenv','ip_address'),

  • What command can be run from the cmd to inquire about the language layout that is used right now?

I have windows 7 32bit platform. Is there any command that can be run from the command line just to inquire about the language bar that is currently in use? Suppose I have English keyboard on my machine but I am switching between 3 languages when I write
my documents (e.g. English, German, Spanish). I want to know if there is any way to tell what language layout that is in current use as seen in the language bar. This question is not about how to change language layout from the command line -- just to know
what layout. For example, the command can return some sort of string to indicate which layout is currently in use: "english", "german", "spanish", and so on.
My ultimate goal from this question is to pass this output into an external editor that will hopefully change font based on the input language? Any help to achieve this goal will be much appreciated.
Or put differently, what is the best way to tell an external editor like Emacs about the current language layout that is in current use?

For the current input language you can try using
    reg query "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 1
The return value includes an eight digit hex value. The first four digits indicate either default layout for the language (all zeros) or a variation (non-zero). The last four digits are the locale id - see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb964664.aspx
From this table, you can see in the example above my input language is English - Australia.
For the keyboard layout you could try
    WMIC Path Win32_Keyboard Get Layout
0409 is an English - US keyboard.
For a few other ideas/methods try reading

  • The Oracle Host command locks up XP occasionally after returning from LabVIEW app.

    Here's the scenario:
The Oracle Host command calls a LabVIEW exe I created called LVSMS.exe. LVSMS than calls a Campbell Scientific app called SMS.exe that reads data from a storage device through the serial port COM1. SMS is closed by LabVIEW through the use of the SMS app pull down menu using keystrokes generated by LabVIEW keystroke commands. The data obtained by SMS initially gets stored to the local drive and is than copied to the network. LabVIEW than exits. Upon exiting LabVIEW and returning to Oracle control under the Oracle HOST command which is running in the background the whole time, WinXP will occasionally lock up.

Thanks. WinXP only locks up when returning from LabVIEW to Oracle. The app is running on 12 computers 2,000 miles away. I found out that 4 of the 12 have locked up. I'm still working on determining if the lock up happens on 4 specific computers or if it's random. It never locks up on my development machine which is supposed to be identical to the machines at the other facility. I've changed timing intervals between when the Campbell SMS.exe program closes and when the LabVIEW LVSMS.exe program closes, and changed the WinXP performance properties. We're evaluating the results now; the process is used only once every 4 hours, so evaluation is slow. The Oracle HOST command appears to be the culprit. Haven't tried it from Win2000, but my WinXP development system
    works flawless.
I'm hoping for information regarding the Oracle HOST command and WinXP. Posssibly what to tweak.
Shooting in the Dark! Thanks for your response!

  • About the hosts file (syntax/usage question)

    Hi,
I am trying to block a handful of different websites that I do not want my daughter to use right now.  I would like to use the hosts file to do this.  Although I have basic familiarity with the hosts file and editing it, I am not completely certain as to how it works and how DNS works.  If I want to, for example, block "yahoo.com" and all of its subdomains, would the following be an acceptable/valid entry?
    127.0.0.1 *.yahoo.com
By not listing the subdomains of "yahoo.com", would that make it any liklier for those webpages to get through?  If I were to also list out all of the "yahoo.com" subdomains that I have knowledge of along with the previous entry, would that cause any problems?
And the second part of my question is: Is the hosts file ever not top priority in lookup (on OS X 10.6.8, if it matters); and if so, is there a good way to make it always first?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Michael

Use parental controls, maybe Dnsmasq, or a nanny-capable firewall-gateway-router box that's been configured on the edge of your network.
The /etc/hosts file also has specific sequence to get it reloaded; that file is read once and subsequenty cached.  IIRC, you need to either /sudo dscacheutil -flushcache/ or /sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder/ the DNS resolver.
If your child is technically inclined, or knows how to do basic internet research, or has discussions with the more nerd-ish among her peers, your child can learn how to bypass /etc/hosts and Dnsmasq using her own DNS translations, or with her own DNS services.  That possibility would point toward either parental controls (easy), or the firewall-gateway-router box (added cost, but can block some or all systems on your local network).
Here's how easy it is to bypass the /etc/hosts block; launch Terminal.app and issue the equivalent of:
    dig +short @8.8.8.8 host.example.com
for the host.example.com host that you're (she's) interested in.  (There are other commands that can be used; more than just dig can be used here, and there are web sites that can perform this translation for you.)  Then connect to the IP address that this command emits.  Your /etc/hosts block will not prevent this, and will not block this.
If your daughter is somewhat more technically savvy, a VPN will bypass the /etc/hosts blocks.  She'll need access to a VPN server, and those are available from various free and very low-cost sources...

  • CBWFQ: Question about the output of "show policy-map interface" command

    Hi everyone,
I have a question about the output of "show policy-map interface" command.
The following is the output of this command and lower side of the output shows
    (total queued/total drops/no-buffer drops) 0/342/0
If the packets drop occur due to the situation of no enough buffer,
"no-buffer drops" counted up. But "no-buffer drops" has not been counted up.
The "no-buffer drops" is 0 (zero) but "total drops" are counted as 342.
I guess there are other factors except "no-buffer drops" to add "total drops".
But I can not find any information about "other factors".
So I would like to know the "other factors" added to "total drops".
