Accept ical invitations in outlook/pc

Does anybody know how to send/accept invitations from ical to outlook on a PC? So far it does work for me but is very complicated. I have to accept the meeting first, then beeing forwarded to the icloud webpage, download the .ics file, open it, save it, etc...
All I would like to do is hitting the "accept" button and done...
Any suggestions?

I converted my wife from me.com account to icloud.  This is a bug with icloud right now and only apple can fix this.  The problem is that the ics file is not formated according to the ics standard (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2445.txt).  Here's an example below.  From me.com account the organizer field looks like this:
ORGANIZER;CN=Doe Jane:mailto:[email protected]
With an icloud ics file you get the following:
ORGANIZER;CN=Doe Jane;EMAIL=[email protected]:urn:uuid:582538462
First problem is the equal (=) sign after EMAIL.  Also I'm not sure why they used "EMAIL" instead of "mailto" but that doesn't seem to be a problem.  Once you change the = to a colon (:) it starts working better, at least you are no longer the organizer.
Second problem, they have extra parameters after the email address which now get included in the email address once the colon is in place.  These parameters are not in the spec and should be on another line or included in quotes.  The closest parameter I could find in the specs is the UID parameter.
Not sure how to report a bug but they really need to fix this.  I dont know how they could have missed something this obvious.

  • How to send ical invites to outlook

When I send an ical invite to outlook user, some users ok to accept and others return mail.dat file attachement?

    1. I didn't replace my [email protected] login with my [email protected] email. I only changed my email information to my [email protected] email. I still login with [email protected]
    2. The me card in both my local address book and the addressbook on iCloud only contains my [email protected] email.
From what I've read in other threads, changing the apple id email means deleting my iCloud account and starting over with a new login email. Apple officially says that it's not possible. But others seem to have succeed with it.
Do you know of any other solution?

  • I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I experienced this issue as well.
    Background:
I had opened an ICS attachment for a repeating event on my iPhone, which added the item to my phone's calendar. I did not have the option to delete the calendar entry from my phone, and the item did not appear on the calendar on my Mac. My phone is currently running iOS 7 (but the problem began quite awhile ago; I don't recall which version of iOS was installed when it started).
    Solution (summary):
Create a new calendar, move the items that you wish to delete to the new calendar, then delete the new calendar
    Solution (detailed steps):
    Create a new calendar
On your phone, open the calendar app
Tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the "Add Calendar..." option
Give your new calendar a good name, such as "Delete me"
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to save the new calendar
Tap "Done" in the top left corner to finish editing the list of calendars
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars
Assign all calendar entries that you wish to delete to the calendar you created in step 1
Tap a calendar entry that you wish to delete
Tap the "Edit" button in the top right corner
Scroll down until you see the Calendar field (on an iPhone or iPod it's usually just below the bottom of the screen), then tap the Calendar field to bring up the list of available calendars
Tap the name of the calendar that you created in step 1 (e.g. "Delete me"); the screen should return to the main calendar entry page
Tap "Done" in the top right corner of the screen. You may need to then tap the "< Day" button on the top left of the screen to return to the main calendar view
Repeat the instructions in step 2 for each of the calendar entries that you wish to delete
Delete the calendar that you created in step 2 (this will delete all calendar entries assigned to this calendar)
From the main screen in the calendar app, tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Tap the entry for the calendar that you created in step 2 (e.g. "Delete me")
Scroll to the bottom of the scren and tap the "Delete Calendar" option. You should be prompted with a warning that explains that "All events associated with this calendar will also be deleted."
If you're sure that the only items on this calendar are items that you wish to delete, tap the "Delete Calendar" button
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to exit the Edit Calendars screen
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars. You should now be back at the main view of the calendars app
Rejoice, your pesky repeating calendar events have been deleted
At this point all of the items that you assigned to the deleted calendar should be gone
Repeat the steps above for any entries that you missed
Post another message to this thread if this did not resolve your problem

  • Accepting iCal invites...

I currently have an Iphone 4, Macbook Pro and Mac Pro synced using iCloud. My problem is that I cannot accept iCal invites on the Mac Pro.  I can add the invite to iCal but it does not send the confirmation email when I accept it, so the person inviting can't see that I've accepted. It works properly on my Macbook Pro but not on the Mac Pro or iPhone.  Thoughts?

I have similar issue - I cannot accept invites in iCal on my macbook pro.
If I "view" the invite I can see it on the calendar through preview, but NOTHING ever shows up in iCal.
Also, "updates" to scheduled items don't update existing appointments.

  • Accepting Ical invites - in mail or Ical?

Using 10.7.2, Icloud and latest versions.
When I accept an ical invite trough Ical the Inviter will not receive my answer but if I answer through mail he gets the answer.
I would like to be able to answer directly in Ical - when I press accept no response is sent/received.
The Inviter is using 10.7.2, Icloud and latest versions.
    /e

    I have the same problem.
I managed to get from Palm Desktop to Ical by going through Tiger and the new isync. This works fine except when I invite a Windows user (outlook) to an ical event. When she tries to open my invitation, she gets a message saying something like "calendar error, go from a lunar to a Gregorian calendar."
OK, this is very Microsoft and very funny but any ideas on how to manage this?
From Windows to Mac, it works well.
    Thanks

  • Problem accepting iCal meetings in Outlook

I've sent a meeting request from my Mac's iCalendar to a friends Outlook 2007.
They have received the email, but when opening it up, it says click the link below to accept the meeting but there is no link.
Instead there is an iCal file attached to the email, with buttons to accept or reject the meeting, however they are greyed out and cannot be selected.
Any idea's on how to resolve this?

    Hi Rhodan,
I've been dealing with this issue for about 3 years now, so I know your pain. Apple will not solve this problem because they're a stickler for standards, no matter what the rest of the world really needs. Since I'm a developer at heart, I decided to tackle the problem on my own and built a software product called Zamain for Mac to resolve the Apple iCal to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange incompatibilities. I originally built the product for myself, but soon realized that this can help others as well. Here are the major issues that Zamain for Mac resolves:
    * Supports sending Apple iCal invitations from multiple Apple Mail email accounts
    * Resolves the "unable to Accept" Apple iCal invitations sent to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange recipients
    * Resolves incorrect time zones for Microsoft Outlook/Exchange recipients
    * Prevents multiple attachments when viewing Apple iCal invitation emails in Microsoft Outlook
Although I know that this is a shameless plug for my product, I urge you to give it a try because it will really make your life easier. I have been using it every day for past 6 months and I can tell you that it saved me a lot of grief.
You can get Zamain for Mac at www.zamain.com.
    Thanks!

  • Accept and invite in outlook, disappears from my desktop PC calendar but shows on my ipad exchange calendar

If i accept an invitation on my pc (outlook 2007, Exchange 2003)  it shows up for a brief time and then disappears but shows up on my ipad2. This was a message sent to all users and all users that do not have an iPad2 have the message on their calendar correctly, all users that have iPads only end up with the calendar entry on their iPads.

If the meeting has already been accepted on a standard Exchange client, the iPad/iPhone should show the meeting as Status: Accepted and not offer the Accept/Decline option (unless opening the meeting itself). This is expected behavior. Accept/decline meetings in one place/client, ideally a real Exchange client like Outlook/OWA vs ActiveSync-enabled device (like iPad/iPhone).

  • Can't edit information in an accepted ical invitation

After I accept an invitation in ical, I would like to just edit the "new event" and "location" field but not change the date or time or any other information that would effect the invitation. Is there anyway to do this modification of text in ical?

    try this:
right-click (or ctrl-I) on your iTunes music folder and +get info+. check if you have read & write permissions. if not, change it accordingly. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+.

  • Non-Mac users being able to accept iCal invitations

I have sent numerous meeting invitations using iCal to non-Mac users. When they receive the e-mail, they are unable to save the invitation to their calendar or accept the meeting request. How can I fix this?

Unfortunately, .ics files, which is how iCal invites are sent +as attachments+, are not recognized by the Mail app on the iPhone. Only Apple can alter that.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
Note that the New Invitation Alerts setting on the iPhone applies to calendar invites sent via MobileMe or MS Exchange (those are true calendar invites, not email attachments).

  • Accepted iCal Invite - Not updating iCal

I sent out an invitation to an event through iCal to my company. Employees accepted the invites on a variety of machines -- Blackberrys, Macs, PCs, etc. All invites came back to me in my emails, with mime attachments.
When I clicked on the mime attachments to update the accepted attendees, only some of the attendees switched from a question mark to a check mark in my iCal event. Then I noticed that while all accepted emails looked the same, the attachments were named differently:
"iCal-20091103-131437.ics" - from the Mac user (updated to check mark in iCal)
"mime-attachment.ics" - from PC users (updated to check mark in iCal)
"meeting.ics" - from Blackberry users (still question mark in iCal)
So my question is: why are there different accepted .ics files, and why don't they all update my iCal event attendee list? And is there something I can do to work around this?
    Thank you.

Kludgy fix to convert an Event to "Accepted" status if iCal doesn't do it automatically.
If the invitee's return email to Accept the event does not change to a √, you can manually fix using TextEdit:
    1) drag Event from iCal to your desktop. this will create a .ics file.
    2) delete the Event from iCal and choose "delete and dont not notify" option.
    3) open the .ics file on desktop with TextEdit.
    4) find text "PARTSTAT=NEED-ACTION" is next to the invitees email address within .ics file.
    5) change "NEED-ACTION" TO "ACCEPTED" (without "), save changes and quit TextEdit.
    6) drag the changed .ics file from desktop back to the day in iCal and let iCal update itself.
    7) if you do Get Info on the Event you will now see a √.
I think this automatic update bug has something to do with .ics files have the same id number. At one point when I was dragging the ics file to iCal from Mail, iCal updated the Event with a completely different time and without any Description but the √ correctly appeared. I think my collegues' email app changed some of the internal formatting of the ics file base on what I saw when I opened his attached .ics file.
I hope Apple can fix this.
    Good luck.

There are far too many possibilities for anyone to guess the real problem. Where are you located? Where did you get the phone? Is it carrer locked? If it is, are you using a SIM for that carrier? Is your wife's phone carrier locked? If so is it to the same carrier as your phone? Have you activated your phone with iTunes? (It won't work with any carrier until it has been activated).

  • Why can't I accept iCal invites on one Mac but can on another?

I have three Macs: 1. an iMac which sits on my desk. 2. An older MacBook Pro and 3. a brand new MacBook air which I bought a week or two ago to replace the older MacBook Pro.
All three are running Lion, the first two upgraded from Snow Leopard, the MacBook Air was purchased with Lion.  All three are fully updated using software update.  All three are synchronised using mobile me.
I am not using any server capability.
    Here's my issue:
When one of my customers sends me an invitation to a meeting I get the invite in an email of course.  These invites come exclusively from Outlook as that's what all my clients use but that should not be relevant.
When I double click on the invite the appointment goes to iCal; mobile me then syncs this across all three Macs.  Irrelevant of which Mac I double click from the mail invite the following happens:
On the iMac and Macbook Air the meeting is inserted in my calender.  The meeting is coloured blue (my default calendar colour) and no matter whether I click on accept or decline nothing happens and no response is sent through mail to the meeting organiser.
On the MacBook Pro the meeting is inserted in the calendar in grey with a dotted line border around it.  When I open the meeting and accept or decline the meeting on the MacBook a mail response is sent to the organiser - this is the correct version of what should happen.
Every single setting that I can find in both Mail and iCal is the same on all three Macs as far as I can see.  Has anyone got any ideas why the MacBook Pro would work and not the other two machines - it's a little annoying to have to fire up the old MacBook every time I want to accept a meeting request!
    Many thanks for any help.
    David.

    I think I've solved this.
In address book only the Macbook Pro had my own card set as 'My Card'.  Although Mobile Me was syncing the address book it obviously doesn't carry the My Card attribute across so this wasn't set on the other two Macs.
Weeks I've been looking at this and then I find the answer a few hours after posting the question

  • ICal Invites to Outlook Users 5 Hours Off

    Hi,
Have found a few posts on this, with even fewer answers. When I send iCal event invites to attendees who are on Win XP Outlook v 2003 sp2, the event is off by 5 hours. My 9 am appointments show up as 4 in the morning.
Have tried resetting all time zone settings. Got some satisfaction setting time zone to floating (except now the invite is from 9 am - 9am). Have all Apple OS patches applied.
Will trashing prefs fix this?? AND If I trash my iCal prefs will I loose all my appointments???
I know this is likely a fight between Apple and slacker programmers at MS, but for the sake of the users, can't someone just make a fix??
Oh yea, suggestions to fix are greatly appreciated.
    thanx,
    jeff

    Jeff,
Oddly enough, I de-selected the option in the iCal preferences to Turn on Time Zone Support, and I was able to view events obtained from Outlook users in the correct timeframe. Not sure why this was the case, but any event sent to me as a calendar event from Outlook would always show up as GMT time zone, which is not where I'm located.
This doesn't completely answer your question, as you were sending events out to Outlook users, but it might be worth trying?

  • Can't see accepted ical invites

For some reason I can receive the accepted invitations in ical but they still show up in the calendar with a question mark - but if I open the event - it shows it as accepted. I used to get the check mark icon but not sure why I can’t get it anymore. Anybody else have this issue or resolution to this issue. Running Leopard.

    I'm having the same problem.
Particularly with invitees with a gMail account.
I've tried restarting Mail and iCal to no avail.
