Access active project in Eclipse

Question

Hello everyone, I'm currently working on a plug-in in Eclipse, which manipulates a java project. My problem is that I can't get access to the active java project. I've tried the following, but it either enters in an infinite loop or I get a message like "The chosen operation is not currently available."
IResource extractSelection(ISelection sel) {
     if (!(sel instanceof IStructuredSelection))
     return null;
     IStructuredSelection ss = (IStructuredSelection) sel;
     IProject element =(IProject) ss.getFirstElement();
     if (element instanceof IResource)

     IAdaptable adaptable = (IAdaptable)element;
     Object adapter = adaptable.getAdapter(IResource.class);
     return (IResource) adapter;

          ISelection selection=page.getSelection(IPageLayout.ID_RES_NAV);
          IResource res=extractSelection(selection);
          ISelectionListener sl = new ISelectionListener() {
          public void selectionChanged(IWorkbenchPart part, ISelection sel) {
          System.out.println("Selection is: " + sel);
          page.addSelectionListener(sl);
          IProject iproject=res.getProject();
If anyone has an idea, I'll be grateful.

Usually "The chosen operation is not currently available." means that the class binding is not proper in the plugin.xml. Check whether the control is going into the action class of plugin.xml in the first place.
